Chapter 15: Paris
Paris. City of lights. City of love. Emma had never set a foot on the French ground, but always had dreamt about it and now here she was. In Paris. Killian was directing them through the airport and she wondered if he had already been here and how many times. Well, that was before she remembered that he had been an actor for far longer that she had. However, even if he had been in France many times, it did not explain how he was speaking French so well and she didn't recall him telling her he learned French at school. She was really impressed. She hadn't said a word since they got out of the airplane. Just following Killian, trusting him with… Trusting. Trust. She was trusting him. Emma hadn't realized she was until she thought it. That was one big step for her, admitting to herself she trusted him and that scared the shit out of her so she closed herself off again.
Killian kept glancing at Emma while they were walking out of the building, suitcases in hand. It had been a long time since he had come to Paris and he had missed the city. No matter how many times he's been here, he would never get tired of the city. Paris was a beautiful town, with beautiful buildings with the finest architecture, he loved the city, especially at night, when all the lights were out, illuminating the streets and the shops. He called out for a taxi and once inside, he gave the directions to the cab driver. They arrived at the hotel about thirty five minutes later after a really silent drive. It seemed like Emma had put her walls up again and he had to change that. They entered the hotel and Killian knew how he would do that as soon as he saw the receptionist.
"Bonjour" he said in his best French, his Irish accent coming out.
"Que puis-je faire pour vous?" the lady wondered.
"Nous avons reserve une chambre au nom de Killian Jones et Emma Swan" he smiled brightly at her.
"Oui" she answered "Chambre 117" she told him, giving him the keys. "Have a nice stay"
"Thanks love" he winked.
Emma had watched the scene and was fuming. He just couldn't hold it back. He had to flirt with every moving thing that looked like a woman. Not that she was jealous, she was annoyed, that's all… Or maybe she was, just a bit.
"You know, I could really use some sleep" she said a bit dryly, not thinking her words before they came out of her mouth.
Killian looked at her, a mischievous hint in his eyes, a smirk on his lips. He nodded and said goodbye to the girl, directing himself to the elevator, the smirk still on his face. "The little bastard" she thought "he had it all planned from A to Z". She couldn't believe he fooled her like this. Couldn't believe he got her… No. no. no. no. She was not thinking it. They got into the lift and Emma didn't say a word.
"You're ok love?" Killian inquired, not hiding the amusement in his tone.
"Perfect"
"Are you sure about that? You look upset"
"I'm just tired"
"Oh… I see… Tired" he teased, emphasizing the last word and she sighed heavily, rolling her eyes. He had her. "Were you jealous darling?"
"'Scuse me? Why would I be jealous?" she answered a bit too hastily.
"Oh, I don't know, maybe because I was talking to a fine lass and you like me and consequently, you couldn't stand the sight"
"Look, we've arrived" she said, stepping out of the elevator, taking the keys from his hands.
"Jealousy looks good on you lass" Killian said and she froze at the door, recognizing the words she had almost sent him this, days ago. But she hadn't… had she? "What's it love? Have I said something wrong?" he questioned, seeming really concerned.
"No, nothing just… I'm just…"
"Tired. I know. Here, let me" he took the keys and opened the door "You should go to bed, you'll need to be in top form tomorrow" he said, letting her get in the room first "always the gentleman" she thought and entered.
"You did this on purpose! Didn't you?" Emma asked, suddenly angry, not leaving him time to answer she continued "Only one bed?"
"I swear to God I didn't know" he tried his best not to laugh. "I didn't book the room. I swear" Emma looked pointedly and when she decided he wasn't lying, she fell heavily on the bed, putting herself up on her elbows to look at him.
"I'm taking the right side. No discussion"
"Aye aye Captain" he joked and she gave him a "Really?" glance.
The next morning, Killian was the first to open his eyes when the alarm clock rang. He felt oddly warm and his sleepy eyes fell on the cause. Emma had moved during the night and she was half-lying on him, one leg above his, her head on his shoulder and a hand was resting on his chest. He, himself, had an arm wrapped around her waist. Killian smiled at the sight. He could easily get used to it; waking up to her sleeping figure every morning, the early morning sunlight reflecting on her hair… But now was not the time to think about that. They had a movie premiere today and they had to get ready, so he woke her up, shifting slightly, knowing she would probably want to punch him when she would wake up. She did none of that though. She just untangled herself from him with a light blush on her cheeks, looking adorably embarrassed.
"We should… hum… We should order breakfast and then get ready"
"Yes, that we should"
They did so and ate in silence. Emma still felt the blush on her cheeks. He let her go to the shower first and she was grateful for that. She let the hot water slide down her body, trying to clear her thoughts. She knew she had crossed a line even she had been unconscious. She knew it and that scared her. Emma was struggling between putting her walls up again or just lower them, just to see, just to try something new… Just trust him. That reminded her of what he had engraved on the ring he had offered her on Christmas. Maybe it was time she followed this advice. She stepped out of the shower, put a towel one her hair and one over her body, searching for her clothes, before realising she had left them in the bedroom. She took a deep breath and opened the door, bumping into Killian.
"I… I was about to bring you your outfit as you forgot it. I… I was about to knock" he stuttered.
"Thank you" she said sincerely "You… hmm..; you can go to the bathroom while I dress if you want" she offered him and realized the words came out wrong "I mean, while I dress in the bed room" Emma corrected and he nodded.
She took the dress from his hands gently while he picked up his suit and started to do her hair as he got into the bathroom. She opted for a side braid (one of the only hairdos she knew how to make herself) and once done, she put on her dress but couldn't close it alone, because of course it was no zipper. Fortunately, Killian came in just in time, all dressed up. Oh what she'd give to have a suit. He hadn't noticed she was looking at him already, focused on his bow tie he had trouble to, well… tie.
"Emma, lass, could you…" he stopped in his tracks, frozen by the sight of his screen partner.
"Can you close my dress for me please? They had the amazing idea to put buttons instead of a zipper. So I cannot do it by myself" she asked shyly "I'll help you with your tie if you want" her voice teasing but he didn't care.
Killian walked towards her and started to button up her dress. He felt her trying not to shiver under his touch. As promised, she then helped him with his bow tie and they got out, no words exchanged between them. The premiere went as it did in London, except Emma was even more mesmerized by the city.
About three hours later, around six p.m. they finally got back to the hotel. The black-haired-actor was on for a good night sleep, knowing the next day would be exhausting, but as Emma didn't know that, she traded her dress for a pair of jeans and a shirt (simple but enough for Killian's imagination) and decided to go out shopping.
"You don't have to come you know" she told him as he started to protest "I can go by myself"
"No. No, certainly not love. I don't want you to get lost" he argued.
"Please. I can handle myself you know. I need no chaperone. Besides, I'm not your love"
"Who says you're not going to be?" he grinned "And I'm still coming" Killian said and she sighed – again – but the corner of her lips tilted up.
"Who would have thought Swan was a shopping" Killian thought as he collapsed on the bed, next to Emma who was fast asleep.
He was pretty sure she had broken his nose. That girl knew how to hit.
"What the hell Jones?!" she yelled silently, due to the hour "Five a.m. Seriously?"
"Next time, remind me to wear a helmet, when waking you up darling"
"Why did you wake me up at five. In the morning?"
"Get dressed I have a surprise for you" he simply said and she groaned and got out of bed, taking the blankets with her. "Seriously?" Killian asked, amused, pointing at the covers.
"I'm cold. And I hate surprises" she grumbled and she just chuckled.
Emma's mouth dropped, to be a surprise, it really was one. She couldn't believe he did that for her. Nobody ever did something like that for her.
"Do you still hate surprises?" he smirked and she punched his shoulder "Have you been talking to Nina lately? No, because you two tend to punch me a lot"
"You brought me to Disneyland. How…"
"How did I know you dreamt of going there?" Killian finished for her "Your best friend is really talkative"
"Remind me to thank Ruby when we get back to London"
"You could thank me too you know. I'm the one taking you" he said, offended.
"Thanks to you too Killian. I appreciate it, really" she said kissing his cheek, which was totally unexpected and surprised them both.
They spent their day going from one attraction to the other, letting their walls down. They enjoyed the other's company like two friends would do: laughing, joking, teasing. Except it was more than that and they knew it. And they knew it. And they didn't care, just wanting to be themselves for a day.
"Sorry. I'm for Jack. You won't make e change my mind" she told him seriously as they were debating on Pirates of the Caribbean.
"But you have to admit that Will is one hell of a pirate! He's the captain of the Flying Dutchman!"
"The Black Pearl is better"
"But the Flying Dutchman can go underwater" he argued.
"How logical for a ship called "flying"… But, you know what? I'm for Captain Hook" she grinned, knowing they shared the same love for the children's book.
"I follow you on that one love"
"You went to Disney without me?!" Henry complained through the computer screen.
"Killian surprised me" she said "Ruby told him" she heard a friend say an offended "hey"
"Well, I hope you have a great idea to make it up to me" her son told her warningly.
"We have to go promoting in the US… Including Florida. What do you say about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?" Emma smiled.
"You're forgiven!" Henry grinned "How's Paris by the way?"
"Beautiful. I'll take you one day. I promise and you know that…"
"When you make a promise, you never ever break it, even if it takes you time to realize this promise" he finished "Got to go to bed. Love you mom! Say hi to Killian for me"
"Love you too Henry, sleep well" she smiled sweetly, sending him a kiss.
She closed the computer and put it aside. She missed Henry, even if it only had been two days, but she knew it was going to be longer. Emma was lost in her thoughts, only brought back to reality by Killian, coming out of the bathroom, is hair still wet from the shower, some streaks falling in front of his deep blue eyes, only wearing his boxers. She had to admit he looked rather hot. He had been so nice to her all day, he had let her see his real self. And she had done the same. It had been just Emma and Killian. Just them. Seeing him standing there, only wearing his underwear, Emma broke down. She got up from the bed and went straight towards him, crashing her lips on his, her arms coming around his neck.
Killian froze at first. She was kissing him. She really was. When he realized it all of sudden, his own arms went around her waist, pulling her closer as he kissed her back. The kiss grew even more passionate and they made their way back to the bed. Emma's knees hit the mattress and she fell on it, pulling Killian with her. They broke the kiss, gasping for air and looked right into each other's eyes, searching for a mutual consent and once found, his lips were on hers again, her shirt long gone. His mouth descended down her jaw, her neck, finding its ways to her breast and Emma let out a moan whispering his name. He went back up, not willing her lips to be away from his for too long. They got rid of the last remaining pieces of clothing and he pushed into her, groaning her name as he did. It was passionate, but tender, loving and Emma couldn't deny she loved it and she loved it even more with each thrust, her nails scratching his back. His light kisses at the base of her neck, his stubble caressing her skin were driving her mad and she came not long after, her cry covered by Killian's mouth, him following her closely. He fell back next to her, breathing hard. It had been a long time since he had experienced something like that.
"That was…" he started, not able to choose the word that fitted. Magical? Wonderful? Amazing? Unexpected? All of that at once. But he knew, they both knew, that this, what had just happened was more than just sex. "Emma, I…" he began, but Emma was fast asleep already, so he just kissed her forehead and turned the lights out. Not knowing what their relationship would be like after that night.
Author's note: So, a bit of translation, for the French passage at the beginning :
"Hello"
"What can I do for you?"
"We booked a room for K. Jones and E. Swan"
