Chapter 16: I do
Emma woke up not long after Killian the next morning. At first she wasn't really aware of what had happened last night until it came all rushing back. She saw herself jumping off of the bed towards and kissing Killian like she was never going to see him ever again, she also remembered what happened next, freezing at the thought that she actually did the thing with her screen partner. What had gotten into her? In fact she exactly knew, it had been on her mind for quite the amount of time, but she always, always, with no exception, put her walls back and pushed her thought as far away in her subconscious as possible. But not this time. No, this time she had let it come over her walls, ravaging her thoughts like a tsunami ravages a town. The thing is, is that she had thought she would regret doing so, but she didn't. She hated her for not regretting. She should be. But the way they were last night, Killian softly whispering in her hear, his mouth on hers trying to cover her moans, it had all felt right, every minute of their love-making had meant something. And that, that was not good. She wasn't ready, not again, not now. All her insecurities went rushing back.
Killian knew something was wrong the second he saw Emma's clouded eyes. In the little time he had spent with her, he knew how to read her, she some sort of… an open book to him. And right now, what she was thinking about was running away. He couldn't let that happen.
"Hey" she said when she spotted him at the end of the bed "How are you doing?" she asked as if nothing had happened the previous night.
"Emma, I know what you're doing. Don't…" he was cut off by the blond getting up and going to the 'wardrobe', but he grabbed her by the wrist before she could go further "Emma, please don't run away from me" he said in a pleading tone "Please look at me"
"What's going to happen now?" she wondered out loud "Should we just forget about what happen?" she said angry.
"Hey, don't look at me like this is my fault! You weren't disagreeing this as you're the one who got me to bed in the first place!" he defended himself.
"You're right… You're right, I'm sorry" she said calmly. "We should make as though it never happen. It was late, we were tired, and we were together all d…"
"Sorry to cut you love, but this is not something I'm about to forget… Don't tell it didn't mean anything to you, don't tell me I was the only one feeling this way, please Emma just…"
"Killian… Just… Not now please…I can't I'm… I'm not…"
"Hey" the actor said in a soft voice, taking her hands in his "I understand, but I think we should try and work this out, because whatever it is Emma, there's something between us and you can't just deny it"
"Okay… I just need time"
"As much as you want" he told her, but his voice was betraying his fear of her answer.
"We should wait until the promo is over and then… then talk about it" Emma answered and picked her clothes to the bathroom.
"As you wish, love… As you wish."
They were finally back to London. Just for two weeks, but still, a break was good after moving from one country to the other. Emma was more than happy to be home again, to see her son again. Henry had been equally happy when she had first set a foot into the flat the day she came back. He had jumped into her arms and hugged her until she was about to suffocate. They spent their evening in their pyjamas, in front of TV, along with Ruby, Mary-Margaret and David. About an hour before he was to go to bed, Henry was fast asleep and David had carried him to bed, leaving the girls alone.
"So, what was it like?" Ruby asked.
"That was… Good"
"Good? That's all you've got… Good" Mary-Margaret said unbelievably and Emma simply nodded, finding a sudden interest in the blanket on her knees. Which Ruby, as the awesome and amazing best friend she was, noticed right away.
"Oh. My. God. Emma Swan, what have you done?" Emma blushed hard at her best friend tone. She got it right.
"Wesleptogether" she said really fast.
"Oh God… How was it?" she said overexcited.
"Ruby!" Mary-Margaret intervened. "Not now, please. So, just so you know Emma, David and I are getting married on Sunday. I already got your dress and shoes as I would like you to be my maid of honour"
Emma couldn't say a word. She was really touched by her sister's announcement, so she just got up and took her in her arms. They went to bed not long after as Emma was really tired by the previous month.
Nina was trying to comfort Killian as much as possible. But he couldn't be. Not until the promo was over. And as stubborn as Emma was she wouldn't be giving him an answer this soon. He also needed to understand that if he didn't tell her what could have possibly put him in such a state of despair, well, she couldn't help him.
"For God's sake Killian, how do you want me to help you if I don't what happened? You've been walking around like a zombie for the past three days, looking anxiously at your phone every minute and the only thing you told me when I asked you about the promo was good!" she finally told him, not able to put up with his current state anymore.
"I can't tell you ok? I just can't!" he yelled.
"Woah! Easy now, whatever is wrong with you is not my fault. As much as I like Emma, I think she should be the one you passing your anger on alright? I don't know what she did to you, or what you did to her or if you both did something to the other, but…" Nina stopped for a second, a realization hint flashing through her eyes. "Don't tell me you two… I mean you… If you two did the deed, why are you like this? I mean, you should be glowing, jumping around, I don't know…"
"She said she needed time. That we should wait until the promo is over and I'm afraid she'll forget, I'm afraid she won't reciprocate my feelings…" the bell rang cutting Killian off during his monologue, Nina told him not to move, that she was getting it.
She opened the door and found the postman behind it, with an envelope with both hers and Killian's name. She took it and thanked the guy, closing the door and turning back to open the letter.
Miss Nina Lewis and Mr Killian Jones,
We are pleased to inform you that Mary-Margaret Blanchard and David Nolan
Are finally getting married, and that they would love to be in your presence.
The wedding will take place on Sunday, March 23rd
In the hope to see you there,
With all their love, MM Blanchard and David Nolan
Xxx
"Killian! You're going to see your dear Emma again and on Sunday. There's no way you are missing it!" Nina told him as soon as she got back into the living room.
"Oh, and why is that?"
"Emma's sister's wedding, and WE are going. No discussion possible"
"Nina I…" he started but she put a finger to her lips.
"What did I just told you? No. Discussion sir" she said and went away, leaving a defeated Killian on the sofa.
Sunday had come faster than Mary-Margaret would have thought and she was stressed out. Her wedding dress had been cut perfectly so it would leave place for the baby bump that was starting to show. It was bright white and floor length with light flowers on it. Her hair had grown longer, so it had been possible for Ruby to comb it in a beautiful way; a small tiara offered by Emma was resting on the top of her head. She was nervous like hell. So nervous that questions started running through her mind, questions she never had thought about before.
"Mary-Margaret?" Emma's voice inquired behind her "Are you ready? You're in in five minutes"
"What if he said no? What if he didn't show up? What if I ended up making a fool of myself?" she asked Emma, worry showing on her face. Her sister just chuckled lightly and went to hug her, trying not to crease the fabric of her dress.
"Hey, relax alright? He's waiting for you, he loves you and the only thing he wants right now is your last name to be changed. No need to worry, plus, you look absolutely gorgeous. Just like the princess you've always wanted to be remember?" at that she laughed "Ready?" she asked her and the brunette nodded. When they arrived behind the door, Mary-Margaret turned to her sister with an awkward look on her face.
"I didn't know what had happened between you and Killian when I set the tables… So you hum… you guys sit next to each other" she told her apologetically.
"I think I can handle him for an evening, don't worry"
As Mary-Margaret father had passed away years ago, and Henry absolutely wanted to be a man, he suggested walking her down the aisle. Suggestion at which she smiled and nodded right away.
"And here she was worrying" Emma thought watching her sister and newly brother in law dance together. She was sitting at a table, watching the couples dancing. She had never been fond of dancing, but she knew she was going to have to at some point, her sister would never let her sit all evening.
Killian was next to her struggling whether to ask her or not. His decision was made very simply at some point, when Nina hit him with her foot and gave him a pointed glance.
"Em… Swan, would… hum… Would you like to dance?" he pondered.
"Yeah, sure" she said "I'll have to dance anyway, why not now" she shyly smiled, taking the hand Killian was offering her and then he lead them onto the dance floor. "I still need time you know" she told him, while her head was resting on his shoulder. "But you were right. There's something between us and whatever this something is, we could try it…"
"After the promo then?" he inquired.
"Yes" she simply answered.
Nina was watching them from her seat. She knew they would end up together eventually. Maybe it would take years for them to admit it, but they would. Of that, she was sure.
"Excuse-me" a voice said next to her "Can I have this dance?" the man asked and she agreed with a smile. "I'm Neal, by the way"
"Nina"
