Chapter 15
Ryou was falling. He knew the sensation, but he couldn't displace the sensation of dread in his heart. Suddenly, he hear someone crying. The sobs tore at his heart, and were painfully familiar. Ahri. Those were Ahri's cries. He twisted around, looking for her in the dark abyss he was in. But she was no where to be found. The crying grew louder, and Ryou fought to find her, to ease her pain, before he hit the grou-
Ryou woke up. The sun was shining through the blinds, and radiated on Ahri's sleeping face next to him. "I can't make her suffer anymore." Ryou told himself. It was the first day of summer break, and already his heart was in shambles. He silently cursed at his weakness, and quietly got up. Ryou stared at the sleeping girl. "I love her," he confirmed to himself. "That's why I got to get her back home." He quietly got dressed and went to the library. It was supposed to rain that afternoon, and Ryou wanted to come home before the water could damage the books. He painstakingly looked up and grabbed every book of portals, summoning, and teleportation he could find and carry. When he felt that he had enough to educate himself of the arts of summoning, he continued to the check out. As he stepped outside and saw storm clouds beginning to form. He hurriedly ran home and opened the door, and met an eagerly awaiting Ahri. "Where's my breakfast, slave?" She playfully asked. Ryou gave a smile, it looked more like a wince but Ahri paid no heed. He set the books down by the sofa and got to work, hoping that Ahri would not notice the storm that was brewing inside his heart. He replied, "Anything to make you happy."
As they finished breakfast, Ryou went to the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror. What was he doing? Could he really do this? He sighed. The pain of her leaving him was immense, but the thought of her not being truly happy was worse. As he was leaving the bathroom, Ahri called out, "Ryou?" There was worry in her voice. Ryou came to the living room, to find Ahri rummaging through the books. Shit. He should have moved them to his study. "Ryou... Why do you have these books?" Ahri asked tremulously. "I... I just wanted to read them." Ryou lied. "Bullshit." The fox girl muttered quietly. "Don't lie to me Ryou, you wouldn't really read these books for fun. Tell me the truth." Fear was embedded in the last sentence. He sighed. "Fine. I was trying to find a way to send you back home." Ahri looked like she was struck. "Why?" She asked even quieter. She looked down at the ground. "Do you hate me?" "No, no, that's not it!" Ryou quickly told her. "I just don't want you to be sad. You love Wukong, so I was just trying to send you back to him. So you could be happy..." He stopped as tears began to fall from Ahri's face. "You idiot..." She whimpered. "YOU FUCKING IDIOT!" She screeched, startling Ryou. "DON'T YOU GET THE FACT THAT I LOVE YOU!? HE DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE! I'M HAPPY HERE WITH YOU, BUT YOU'RE TOO DENSE TO UNDERSTAND, AREN'T YOU!?" She ran out of the house, tears freely falling now, out to somewhere she could be with her own thoughts. Ryou was left alone, stunned, and staring at the open door. And it started to rain.
Ooh, the cliffhangers! XD I hope this chapter left you wanting more. For all those who don't believe so, yes, people do make mistakes like this. They think that they're helping when actually they're not. So before knowing completely what to do in a situation, don't assume things and take initiative. It could lead to, such as this chapter, to heartbreak and pain. Just a small moral lesson from me.
