Chapter 16
Ryou stood as he was. What had just happened? "Did she just..." He explored into his heart. He did love her... She believed so too. But she loved Wu... Didn't she? She just confessed. It wasn't Wukong, but it was him. "Me... She loves me?" Something finally clicked. "GODDAMN IT!" Ryou shouted. He had made a terrible mistake. "She loves me," Ryou repeated, crying. After a moment of self-pity that Ryou had not felt for years, he paused. "What am I doing?" Ryou asked himself scornfully, wiping away his tears. He looked outside. The rain was still pouring. Dammit. Ahri would catch a cold at this rate. Ryou made a new resolution. "I have to find her," he told himself. "She's all alone." He ran out, slamming his door, leaving the books forgotten behind.
Ahri ran. She didn't know where, but she ran. Anything to get away from home for a while. When she finally ran out of breath, she stopped and cried. Bawling, her tears intermingled with the rain. So stupid... He was so stupid. The fox girl gasped for breath, and slumped onto the ground. "WHY!?" She screamed. "WHY DIDN'T HE NOTICE!?" She sobbed pitifully. "Hey, honey it's alright!" Said a voice behind her. She whirled around, and her eyes widened as the realized who it was. It was no other than the blonde and his fat sidekick, along with a few other boys. "Aww, did your boyfriend dump you? I told you the you should of hung out with us." The blonde taunted, smirking. "Seems like you're alone now, right?" The chubby boy asked. "S-stay back," Ahri warned, slowly backing away. The blonde, obviously the leader of the pack, laughed. "You can't escape from us," he stated. "How about you let go of him and come with us?" "I don't want anything to do with you perverse freaks!" Ahri shouted, bolting away. The gang gave chase. "She's a feisty one, ain't she?" one of the boys chasing her called out. After a short while, Ahri found herself cornered in an alleyway. "B-back off!" She screeched. "There no one to stop us here, dear," the blonde replied. "You're ours now." Ahri drew against the wall, as the boys' greedy hands reached towards her. She closed her eyes, this was it. But the contact never came. "GET. OFF. OF. MY. GIRL!" Ryou shouted, kicking the nearest boy in the face. He barreled through the shocked would-be assaulters, and tackled the blonde to the ground. "If you don't wish to die right now, call off your guys." Ryou growled. The blonde had more of a backbone than last time and simply smirked again. "Boys... GET HIM!" he ordered.
The alley exploded into chaos. Left, right, Ryou fought off his attackers, but they kept coming. They outnumbered him six to one, so he couldn't keep this up much longer. Then he heard her scream. He looked over, and saw the fat one try to grab Ahri. Fueled by rage, Ryou burst from the struggle and tackled the meat sack of a boy to the ground. However, the rest of the group pulled Ryou off and began to beat him to the ground. Recovering, the chubby boy made another grab for Ahri. But Ahri was not a helpless damsel in distress, and swiftly delivered a swift kick to the walking bowling ball's crotch. The boy howled and passed out from pain. The blonde clicked his tongue and spat at his fallen comrade. "Worthless wimp." He then went back to punching Ryou in the face. "Not so tough, are ya, punk?" he asked with each blow. Ryou felt his consciousness begin to slip away, when suddenly, the weight from his chest was lifted followed by a yelp of pain. He looked over, and saw that the boy, who was apparently tackled off of him by Ahri, had proceeded to slap her. Seeing her hurt triggered something in Ryou, and using every last bit of effort he could muster, he fought free of the people holding him down and made a dash for the blonde's unprotected back. Grabbing the boy's arms from behind and placing his foot on the boy's back, Ryou pulled. The was a sickening snap as he severely dislocated both of the boy's arms. The blonde collapsed onto the ground and screamed in pain. Upon seeing their two leaders defeated, the rest of the boys ran for their lives. Despite the cries of the blonde, they didn't dare return. Breathing heavily, Ryou turned around to Ahri, only to be hugged fiercely. "You idiot, you could have gotten yourself killed!" she sobbed into his chest. His expression softened. "Ahri..." He began. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize how you felt. Even if you hate me now, it's fine. I just want you to know that I-" Ryou was silenced by Ahri kissing him. When they finally drew apart, Ryou finished, "love... you..." Ahri giggled. "Save me sooner next time, okay? Now shut up and kiss me again." So he did. After a long moment, they drew away. "Come on," Ryou said. "Let's go home." "Okay." The two walked out of the alley holding hands. After calling the cops, they stayed a while to watch the devious duo be led away in handcuffs, along with whimpers of pain from the once former leader. They then began making their way home. As they were crossing a street, there was a loud honk. As she looked around, the last thing Ahri saw was the bright lights of an oncoming truck.
Unexpected, right? Don't worry- the last chapter is on the way.
