AN: Sorry! I managed to forget to update on the 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF DOCTOR WHO! I was busy, and I got distracted... But I'm posting now!
Hicks cleared his throat. "Ahem! So, Hector Dearborne was at the apartments? Why didn't Rachel sense him? Better yet, why couldn't Gary see his electricity?"
"Come on, Hicks, come on! I can't see electricity, I see radio waves! Hicks, I was looking at a power plant website! Stanton Parish had put some blocks on it so no one could see Hector's electrical outputs, but I removed them! Don't blame me, Hicks!" Gary cried. Clara had to admit, the guy held his own.
"Is Hector still at those apartments?" asked Nina.
"Gary?" asked Dr. Rosen, addressing the autistic man.
"Hang on, guys, hang on! I'm working on it!" Gary said.
Everyone waited patiently, quietly observing Gary's fingers as they jerked around, moving things only seem by him. Suddenly, Rachel burst into the kitchen.
"Dr. Rosen!" she cried, her hair swinging wildly. "You need to see this!" Dr. Rosen led the group to Nina's office.
"What is it that we're supposed to be seeing, Rach?" pressed Dr. Rosen. Rachel was holding up a silver chain and some red gems, along with other, smaller beads.
"It's the pieces of a necklace!" she said excitedly.
Nina exchanged glances with Dr. Rosen, and the Doctor and Clara did the same. What was so special about this necklace? "It's not mine, if that's what you're getting at," said Nina.
"No, I know it isn't yours. Watch this," Rachel grasped two of the gems. She stuck the ends together, and they clicked. Rachel repeated the process with two other gems and a silver bead of the same shape. The little sculpture measured about 3 inches long.
"What is that?" asked Clara. It kind if looked like...
"A jump drive!" said Hicks.
"Yes, exactly! It's a jump drive! Gary will have to see what's on it, but I'm sure it will give important information as to what Stanton Parish is planning," said Rachel. She gave the jump drive to Gary, who then went to his office to take a look.
"What's a jump drive?" asked the Doctor, who didn't know of all of the earthly gadgets.
"It's a storage device for computerized information," explained Clara. The Doctor nodded.
"What about the other beads, Rachel?" asked Dr. Rosen. There were still many beads in her hand, but they were all much smaller than the ones that had made up the jump drive.
"These are just beads, nothing special. This had been a necklace, and these went in between the big gems," explained Rachel. She deposited the other beads into a cracked bowl that had once held mints on Nina's desk.
"Wait, who is Stanton Parish? You guys have mentioned him multiple times," asked the Doctor.
"We can better explain him in my office," said Dr. Rosen, gesturing for Nina, Rachel, Bill, and Hicks to follow him. The Doctor and Clara complied.
An hour later, the Doctor and Clara were very informed on the immortal sociopath and his agenda to eradicate the non-Alphas in New York City, and then the world.
Gary was sitting in his office, facing the wall. He was looking at the power grid for NYC, which had lots of large bursts of electricity on it. Most were large skyscrapers and office buildings, but one was sure to be Hector Dearborne. Gary quickly zoomed in, and scanned every building individually. He paused at the Westfield apartments. There was a large electrical output coming from the building, more than was normal. Gary squinted. The electricity seemed to be...moving around?
"Dr. Rosen! Dr. Rosen! Dr. Rosen! I found something, Dr. Rosen!" Gary was yelling and running down the hallway. Dr. Rosen peeked his head out of the kitchen.
"Gary! What are you yelling about?" said Dr. Rosen. He had stepped out of the kitchen and was now in the hallway with Gary.
"Dr. Rosen! I was looking at the power grid again, because you all wanted to know if Hector Dearborne was still around!" said Gary.
Dr. Rosen's eyes widened a bit. "Did you find him?" he asked.
Gary nodded. "Yes, Dr. Rosen! He's in the Westfield apartments! Right now!"
"Good work Gary!" Dr. Rosen stuck his head into the kitchen where everyone had reconvened to talk. The Doctor and Clara were in the middle of telling a lively story about how they'd defeated Cybermen on the moon, along with Angie and Artie, when Dr. Rosen interrupted. "Gary found Dearborne, he's at Westfield apartments. Let's go!"
Clara and the Doctor sat for a moment in awe at how quickly the Alphas reacted to this news. Bill had run into his office, grabbed several guns, and had called for backup in less than a minute. Rachel, Nina, and Hicks had grabbed all of the necessary gear and were heading down to the green van, which Bill had gone to get once they asked the Doctor questions in Doctor Rosen's office.
"Hey, snap out of it! We gotta go! You're a part of this team now, aren't you?" Bill said, addressing the Doctor and Clara. The Doctor looked at Clara and grinned. She rolled her eyes, and they both ran to the elevators.
"Dr. Rosen, I want to go too!" complained Kat. "I can be helpful!" The small blonde put her hands on her hips.
Dr. Rosen hesitated for a moment, then said, "Let's go," Kat beamed, and raced after the others. She grabbed her tablet on the way out, so she could learn some new secret agent skills on the way there. Shaking his head, Dr. Rosen hurried after her.
AN: Hope you like it!, Again, sorry for the late update!
