[ Author's Note: Jace can go away. I think he would have been better off with Bay. ]

The second cooking lesson was quiet besides Daphne giving instructions. Scuba was still angered about Chef interacting with Daphne earlier, but he was not ready to confront her with it. Scuba scratched his head as Daphne packed up her personal baking supplies. "You are really quiet. What's up?" Daphne finally broke the silence as she packed the last pan away. Her eyes remaining locked on Scuba's face that was missing his normal perkiness. "Nothing. I was just trying to focus on the lesson." Scuba fibbed as he lifted the box from the counter to bring to Daphne's car. "We should go back to Maize before Chef has another reason to scream at me." Scuba muttered before starting out the door, not wanting to anger his boss. Daphne shook her head in anger. Why did boys have to bottle everything up? Daphne followed her co worker out of the apartment and down to her car. Scuba was impatiently tapping his foot as he waited for Daphne to unlock her car. "If you are not going to tell me what is wrong, you can at least drop the attitude." Daphne ordered as she was losing her patience. Unlocking the car, Daphne slid her stuff in the passenger side and waited for Scuba to put what he was carrying in the backseat.

"Daphne, can you stay late to make cupcakes for tomorrow's luncheon?" Chef Jeff asked as she was chopping carrots for that night's salad. "I do not see why not." Daphne replied. Her focus remained on the orange vegetable in front of her and not on Scuba whose anger increased by Chef's request for Daphne to stay late. Finally allowing his anger to boil over, Scuba dropped his knife onto the cutting board. He walked up behind Daphne and snatched the knife from her hand. He set it down as she turned to face him. Scuba finally ignored her outside beauty as he let out his rage. Before he knew what he was doing, Scuba started screaming and punched Daphne in the face. She fell backwards to the ground, but that did nothing to stop Scuba from stopping. He began to kick her as he yelled out his frustrations. He was locked in this little world until he felt his arms be pinned to his sides. "Scuba, what is the hell were you thinking? Leave now!" Jeff demanded as one of the sous chefs called the cops. Scuba stormed out in shock. Reality finally settled in, and he realized that he just lost his jobs due to his actions.

"Daphne, are you okay?" Jeff asked as he knelt down to look her over. "Yes. Oww. No" she cried as she tried to sit up. "I think he broke my nose, and I am sore where he kicked me." Daphne explained between sobs. "Stay still. Help will be here soon." Jeff tried to soothe as his fingers ran through strands of her ginger colored hair. Daphne tried to stop her crying, but the pain in her face was too intense. It did not take long until the cops and medical tem showed up, and a couple of them assisted to the ambulance while others took witness statements. Chef Jeff wanted to hop in the back of the ambulance with Daphne, but he knew he could not. Jeff paced impatiently while he waited to be interviewed.

Daphne rested against the hospital cot. After resetting and putting her nose in a cast, the doctors finally left her alone. Of course, at least one of her parents would show up any minute wanting answers. She still had to give her witness statement to the cops as well, but knowing the Kennish family, John would want that done through the family lawyer. Daphne tried to savor the peace as she relaxed in silence. Her eyes started to feel heavy as the pain medication began to kick in, and before she knew it, Daphne fell asleep. "Daphne?" a voice gently drew her out of sleep. "Daphne?" the voice became clearer. "Angelo?" Daphna murmured sleepily. "What happened?" Angelo asked his daughter. "I agreed to stay late to help my boss, and Scuba, a coworker, attacked me." Daphne slurred as she tried to focus enough to get each word out clearly. Angelo shook his head and looked towards the door. "I have to go sign the release forms, and I will take you back to my place." Angelo explained. Daphne give him a thumbs up as she tried to wake up. The pain medicine had taken effect, and she was no longer in pain. Soon a nurse with a wheelchair came in the room to move Daphne. Propelling herself with her arms, Daphne sat up slowly and allowed the nurse to take some of her weight as she stood up. Angelo arrived back into the hospital room as Daphne settled into the wheelchair. "Ready to go?" Angelo asked. Daphne nodded, and the nurse started to wheel her towards the elevator.

"The guest bedroom is the door on the left if you want to go lie down. I am going to make some vegetable soup. Do you need anything?" Angelo spoke as they entered the apartment. "This pain killer is strong, and I just feel worn out. I am going to lay down. Is Regina and the Kennish family aware?" Daphne mumbled as she made her way towards the door he pointed out. "Yes. Regina is at work. John is held up at the carwash, and Kathryn is at a book signing. I was free and able to pick you up from the hospital." Angelo replied as he pulled out a steel pot and set it on the stove. "Thank you Angelo." Daphne said before disappearing behind the door of the guest room.

[ Author's Note: I didn't intend for this chapter to go violent. It just happened as I started typing. I did not intend to get rid of Scuba either. Writing about him was starting to bore me.]
