AN: Okay, I've been forgetting to put a disclaimer in here, so here it is. I do not own Alphas or Doctor Who. I did invent the aliens (not the Cybermen) and the other stuff you don't recognize. There we go. I also realized how out of character my people are, after watching the last episode of Alphas multiple times and watching the Christmas special. so, yeah. Enjoy!
Nina and Rachel crept along the hallway they had entered from the east door. There were very few lights, and those that worked flickered incessantly. The walls were gray, but the paint was peeling. The floor was made of cement stained with paint and oil.
"This is disgusting," whispered Rachel, cringing from the water dripping down the wall. Nina nodded in agreement. They came upon a fork in the road, the hall splitting in two.
"Do we split up?" Nina asked.
"Oh...something bad always happens to people when they split up in books and movies. Haven't you seen Scooby-Doo? Something bad always happens to the timid ones!" Rachel said, her being the timid one. "But... It seems the best option." Rachel and Nina parted ways, Rachel going left and Nina going right.
Bill and Hicks had entered through the west door into a hallway similar to the one Nina and Rachel. In fact, it was identical, but they didn't know that. Bill and Hicks walked down the same grimy hallway and ended up at the same dirty, dripping crossroads.
"You go right, I go left?" Hicks asked. Bill nodded and started to the right.
After what seemed like an eternity of walking, Bill thought he heard footsteps advancing towards him. He pressed himself up against the wall, grimacing slightly as a drop of water landed on his neck.
Nina slowly advanced down the hallway, squinting in front of her to see what was ahead. It was very dark, but the hall seemed to go on for miles.
Nina crashed into a wall that was right in front of her. It had been so dark that she hadn't been able to see it. "Ow..." Nina groaned, rubbing her head. The pain seemed to have woken up some memory that had been forgotten, because she reached into her pocket and pulled out a tiny keychain flashlight. Better than nothing, she thought.
She felt the wall in front of her, and found a corner where it attached to one of the walls that had made up the previous hallway. Turning the opposite direction, Nina cautiously walked to the left.
Following the small beam of light being emitted, Nina trudged down the dimly lit hallway, wondering when she would get somewhere productive. There hadn't been a door in sight since she and Rachel had entered the building, which Nina found odd. They should have entered into a huge room where boxes were stored, not a long hallway.
Nina paused suddenly, thinking she heard footsteps coming towards her. Deciding it was just her imagination, Nina resumed walking. Her flashlight flickered a couple of times.
"Oh, don't die on me now!" She whispered pleadingly. Maybe her Alpha ability would work on machines?
Nina had no such luck. Upon reaching a right corner, her light went out, and no amount of pleading or hitting brought it back. "Oh, excellent," she muttered, tossing the keychain over her shoulder.
Rachel was walking very briskly down her hallway, desperately wanting to get out of the creepy building. Seeing a place to turn in front of her, she almost ran towards it.
Hicks noticed his hallway getting very dark. Turning around, he could see the obvious difference in brightness. Sighing, he resumed walking.
Hicks also found himself face-to-face with a corner. Turning right, he continued on. Suddenly, he heard something hit the ground. It sounded like something small and metal. Whatever it was had to be close, because Hicks didn't have heightened senses like Rachel. He also thought he heard someone talk, but he might have imagined it.
"Hello?" Hicks yelled. "Is anyone there?" Only silence answered him, so Hicks shrugged and kept walking.
Bill had come to a turn. Like a proper FBI agent, he pressed against the wall that continued to the next hallway, and pointed his gun out, then turned. As expected, no one was there. Sighing, Bill holstered his gun and walked on.
Rachel was absolutely positive that someone was coming towards her. Ever since she had turned the corner, footsteps kept getting louder and louder. She was terrified that it was Stanton Parish or one of his goons who would take her prisoner.
Rachel took care to walk quietly, in case the person coming towards her had super hearing as well.
Bill was sure he could hear someone coming towards him. Neglecting his FBI training, he called out, "Is anyone there?" The footsteps immediately stopped.
"Is anyone there?" Someone had yelled. Rachel stopped walking. She was too afraid to reply. There was no way to know if they were friend or foe. Taking a very deep breath, Rachel walked on, hurrying, wishing for a door that led out of the building.
Bill listened intently. The footsteps had resumed, moving faster this time. He decided to run towards whoever it was, he didn't care that it was breaking every FBI agent rule. It was too dark and terrifying to worry about what was acceptable.
Bill was running full speed. If whoever it is is planning on killing me, now would be the time! He thought.
Bill could hear the other person running towards him also. There was a resounding THUD as they crashed into each other. The other person, female by the sound she made when they ran into each other, was sprawled on the ground. Bill was sitting next to her, holding his head, which he had hit on the woman's.
Rachel groaned. She had heard the other person running towards her, so she decided to be brave and run towards them also, thinking she was about to die. They had run into each other, and Rachel was sure she had been unconscious for a while.
"Ah, my head," she moaned. The other guy, a big man, was sitting on the ground near her. He scooted towards her.
"Rachel? Is that you?" He said.
Rachel opened her eyes wider, trying to get a good look at the guy. He certainly looked like... "Bill?" Rachel asked incredulously.
"Yeah, it's me. Were you the person I ran into? Wow, you really had me freaked!" Bill confessed.
Rachel started laughing. "Oh, you don't know how terrified I was! I kept hearing someone coming towards me, and it's so dark, I was so scared!"
Bill started laughing too, and they both sat there for a while, glad of the company.
Nina froze. Did someone just yell something? "Hello? I'm here!" She yelled. Oh, please let it be a good guy!
"Who are you?" The voice echoed back.
Nina kept walking. "I'm Nina! Who are you?" She walked even faster, not wanting to be alone.
"Nina? Really? 'Cuz this is Hicks!" Hicks yelled. "Where are you?"
"I'm in a dark hallway, same as you!" Nina replied.
Hicks sighed. He was actually glad to hear her sarcasm. It was very welcome in this uninviting tunnel.
"How far away from each other do you think we are?" He heard Nina call.
"I don't know. We should run towards each other so we can make an escape plan." Hicks yelled. He started running forwards. He could hear Nina running also.
Nina was running faster than she had in her life. Not even when she was being chased by- "Ugh!" She and Hicks had run into each other. He was holding her up by the waist. Their faces were inches away from each other, although Nina's was lower than Hicks'.
Nina moved closer to Hicks, their noses touched, but then Hicks moved away. "I can't. Not after I've just lost Dani," he said. He let go of her, and sat against a wall. Nina sat next to him.
"We should find a way out. For all I know, I passed many doors that led out, but it's so dark." Nina said, her voice wavering slightly, but regaining its strength.
Hicks nodded in agreement. "We should feel along the walls for a door or another hallway to get us out."
"Good plan," said Nina. She stood up and started walking down the hallway the way she had come, rubbing her hands along the wall. Hicks did the same, and they parted ways.
Rachel and Bill were doing the same as Nina and Hicks, feeling along the wall for a door or a hallway branching off. Rachel felt a hinge under her hand. She reached up to see if there was another one. There was, and hinge near the floor too. She moved to the right and found a handle.
"Bill! I found a door!" She cried. Bill ran over to Rachel.
"You better let me open it. No telling what's on the other side." Bill said. He cracked the door open, and his eyes widened.
AN: I hope those line breaks worked out okay...
