Part Six

Eve looked up at the sound of the bathroom door opening, the woman looking over as Seth Rollins slowly walked out. The man was shirtless and barefoot, just wearing a pair of pajama pants, his hair messy from both the shower he'd taken and being partially towel-dried afterward. His movements were careful as he stepped into the main part of the room, the man clearly still in some pain, and Eve frowned as she looked at him.

"Do you need an ice pack or something? For your ribs?" she wanted to know, and Seth looked over at her, surprise skating over his expression for a moment, the man clearly not expecting the concern in her voice... Which was strange, really, considering the fact that she'd been concerned enough to offer to look after him in the first place. Of course, he was probably only used to Ambrose and Reigns showing any concern about his well-being, so maybe it was a little weird for him.

"I... I'll be fine," Rollins said after a moment, pushing his two-toned hair back from his face, the man making his way to his bags and shoving his gear into what appeared to be a laundry bag. Once he had that done, he put his bags on the floor, close to his bed but still far enough out of the way that neither of them would trip over them, the man then turning to look at her. "I'm still trying to understand."

"Understand what?" Eve asked, drawing her legs up and putting her arms around them, resting her chin on her knees. The woman was still in what she'd worn to the arena that night, though she'd removed her shoes, and she was sitting on her bed.

"You didn't have to help me, and you did. You don't even know me, and I know that your friends can't be happy that you're helping me. And I'm guessing that they have no clue that I'm here," he said, and Eve sighed, shrugging slightly.

"You're right. Brie and Daniel don't know you're here... Because it's not their business; it's mine. I'm a grown woman. I can make my own choices. And I don't think you're a danger to me... And I don't say that just because you're injured. Call me crazy, but I don't think you're that kind of guy. I've got this gut feeling with you. That maybe you're not what people think, and I'm hoping that I'm right."

"And if you're wrong?"

"Well, if you try anything, I actually know a very effective chokehold, and I've used it quite successfully before... Once on a former coworker that got a little too... pushy, shall we say?" she said, and Rollins blinked in surprise.

"You've actually... You had to choke someone out before?"

"It felt necessary at the time. He left me alone after that."

"He still with the company?" Rollins wanted to know, and Eve realized with a jolt that the man was angry on her behalf. Angry that she'd been in a position to feel that it was necessary to use physical force to get someone to leave her alone. In fact, he looked a bit like he wanted to teach the guy a lesson himself, even if it was several years after the fact and, even though Eve wasn't one to like the idea of being the damsel in distress, she did appreciate that he felt that way. It even made her feel a little more justified in her decision to help him out... No matter what anyone else thought about it.

"He's gone. Been gone for awhile. A few years, actually. I'm not exactly concerned about him any longer. And hopefully I taught him a bit of a lesson."

"He deserved one," Seth said quietly, then looked over, meeting her eyes. "I'm not going to try anything. You have no reason to believe me, but I... That's just not me."

"I wouldn't have agreed to keep an eye on you tonight if I thought otherwise," the woman told him, and Rollins nodded slightly, the man finally sitting down on his own bed, wincing at the pain the movement caused him, and Eve frowned at the sight. "Are you sure you don't need an ice pack?"

"I'm fine-"

"You're wincing in pain almost every single time you move," Eve countered, pushing herself to the edge of her bed, then standing up between the two beds, frowning as she looked down at the wrestler. "You know, I get that wrestlers are all about being tough and all of that - I used to be one myself - but the thing is... Not taking care of yourself isn't being tough. No offense, but it's more like being stupid."

Rollins looked up at her, briefly meeting her eyes. "I guess I can't argue with that."

"No, you really can't," the former diva replied, smiling slightly. "I don't have any regular ice packs with me, but I know there's a machine down the hall. I can go get some ice, and then we can use a hand towel or something."

Rollins shook his head, the man making a move as if to get up. "I can do it-"

"I'm already up, and I'm a little more mobile than you. Plus... Half the roster doesn't have it in for me," Eve told him, the woman reaching out and putting a hand on his shoulder as she spoke, trying to keep him from getting up... She quickly pulled her hand back, however, as she registered the fact that she was touching bare skin... Even if it was only his shoulder.

"And once again, you make a good point. I have a hell of a lot of enemies."

"I didn't mean-"

"You're right, though. Pretty much nobody likes me."

"You seem okay to me so far," the former diva replied, giving him a smile before heading over to grab her key card and the ice bucket. She still had her socks on, so she figured it was safe enough to skip the shoes for now. "I'll be right back," she told him, shooting another look back at the wrestler before slipping out of the room and heading down the hall, ice bucket in hand.

Once she reached the alcove with the vending machines and the ice machine, Eve went straight to the ice machine, glancing around to see what the vending machines had as she got the ice for Seth's ribs... The woman quickly deciding that there was nothing worth getting from the vending machines. Half the stuff in the drink machine were listed as sold out, and the snack machine didn't carry any of her favorites. Shaking her head, Eve finished getting the ice, turning to leave the alcove... Then taking an automatic step back when she saw that she wasn't alone. Standing just a few feet away from her was Dean Ambrose. A member of the Shield. One of the men that had betrayed Seth Rollins tonight.

She couldn't help but wonder if he'd heard that she'd gone to check on Seth. She couldn't help but hope he hadn't.

Taking a deep breath, Eve met the man's eyes, more than a little nervous, vaguely realizing that he hadn't said anything to her... That he'd just stood there so far, his eyes on hers, not making a move toward her, but not getting out of the way, either.

"Excuse me," Eve finally managed, moving to step around him, unable to avoid brushing against him as she squeezed past, the woman hurrying back to her hotel room, not looking back at him... But still able to feel him watching her as she walked away.
