[ Author's Note: I would like to thank everyone who supported this story. It is with great sadness that I am putting this story to an end. I have been trying for seven months to write this chapter, but I get no where. This will be the last chapter. It will allow me to focus on my other stories and new ones to come. Spoiler Alert: With the recent death of Angelo, I have a whole new idea for Switched at Birth stories. Stay tuned for those. ]

Daphne led Jeff into the apartment. "This is the living room, dining room and kitchen combination. And down this hall is the bathroom and the three bedrooms." Daphne pointed out as she started towards her bedroom. Jeff followed his employee into her personal bedroom. Daphne took a seat on her bed and motioned for Jeff to do the same. "What is going to happen to Scuba?" she asked as Jeff took a seat next to her. Jeff glanced around the room before looking at Daphne. "Well, he was fired. If you and your family decided to press charges, he will be charged with assault and will most likely have a restraining order keeping him from being around you." Jeff explained. Daphne nodded. "How are you feeling? You took a pretty hard hit." Jeff asked concerned. "I am starting to feel a little woozy from the pain killer." she admitted. Jeff patted the bed. "Why don't you lay down?" he suggested. Daphne took Jeff's suggestion and moved to the other side of the bed. Jeff stood up and pulled the covers up, so Daphne could crawl under. He knew he was pushing past the boundaries of their professional relationship as well as the law, but he did not care. Jeff tucked Daphne in and kissed her forehead. "I will call you tomorrow." he promised before leaving the room. Jeff let the Kennish family know he was leaving before driving away. He needed to go home and figure out his feelings. This mess was going out of control, and his employees would want answers soon.

Daphne got spooked when Regina shook her awake. "Mom?" Daphne wearily said. Regina waited until Daphne became more aware before she started speaking and signing. "How are you feeling?" Regina asked in concern for daughter. "Like I need to go back to sleep. What time is it?" Daphne mumbled back. "11:30. You can go back to bed. I just wanted to check on you myself after what happened to you." Regina admitted. Daphne closed her eyes again and drifted back to sleep. Regina sat on the side of Daphne's bed and watched her daughter sleep. She was always concerned for her daughter from growing up in East Riverside to her adapting to knowing about being switched at birth. She was scared to death when Angelo had called her earlier that day.

The aftermath of the attack was not easy for anyone. Daphne's family coddled her as they visited lawyers and dealt with what had happened. Everyone tried to pry information out of her thinking that opening up would make the healing faster. Daphne offered nothing knowing that any information would be toxic to her and Jeff's relationship. Talking to Scuba was impossible since she was being babysat. Daphne felt herself going insane without having privacy. She also knew that going back to Maize would not be normal. Daphne picked up her cell phone and dialed the manager's number. "Hi, this is Daphne, and I am resigning. I cannot go back to Maize after what happened." she said calmly before hanging up. Jeff would just have to go on without her. He be better off without a high school student as his girlfriend anyway.

[ Author's Note: I am not pleased with this ending, but I wanted to end it. I did not want to leave anyone hanging.]
