AN: WHOUFFLE! It took a while to lead up to it, but this is the chapterrrrrr! "Doctor, where are we going?" Clara asked. She was being pulled along behind the Doctor as he quickly walked down the hallway. "Kat didn't just run away, although that might be in her nature. I think," The Doctor yanked Clara through a door. "That Hector Dearborne took her." They were standing in a very small broom closet. Clara and the Doctor were pressed against each other "Doctor," Clara murmured. "Yes, Clara?" The Doctor said. He sounded distracted. "Why are we in a tiny closet?" "Because we're waiting for Hector to pass by with Kat," "Ah." Clara started to nod, but then stopped abruptly because it was dark and the Doctor couldn't see her, and because she accidentally hit her head on his chest. "And... How do you know he's going to pass by this door?" The Doctor sighed, and Clara could feel his breath on her face. It smelled faintly of mint. "I don't. But since this is the only hallway that we know of, I'm hoping that he will." He wriggled his arm up over Clara's head and into his pocket for his sonic. He pressed the button and a green light and a buzzing sound emitted from it. Clara and the Doctor's faces were closer than Clara had thought. They were only about three inches apart. Clara took a deep breath and moved closer to the Doctor. Their lips brushed against each other's but just as the Doctor was going to lean in farther, footsteps came from outside the door. They could hear Kat screeching as she was forced along. Clara pulled back and sighed. The Doctor sighed too. He put his hand on Clara's cheek and pushed open the door. He grabbed her hand and they were off, chasing Hector. "How did we not pass him when we went into that closet?" Clara panted as she ran. "He went into a room to grab his hand electrode things, probably. Actually, I don't know, I hadn't thought that far ahead. Can we not talk and just run? I'm getting a side cramp!" The Doctor attempted to answer. Hector was in his human form and he was forcibly dragging Kat along with him. "Let me go!" Kat screamed, trying to kick Hector. "We're coming, Kat!" Yelled the Doctor. He was sprinting full speed and Clara was falling behind. "Oof!" Clara cried, as she tripped. One of the sheets of metal on the smooth steel floor had come loose and had risen up an inch or so. The Doctor screeched to a halt. He looked at Kat being dragged away, kicking and screaming, and then at Clara, who was looking at him pitifully from the floor. He glanced at Kat again, then dashed to Clara. The Doctor grabbed Clara under her arms and pulled her to her feet. "Thanks," she said breathlessly. "What about Kat?" "We'll get her back. I don't know how yet, but we will." The Doctor told her reassuringly. "You've said 'I don't know' a lot today. Are you feeling all right?" Clara joked. "Oh yeah. Perfectly fine! Let's check back in with Dr. Rosen and Bill and Rachel and everybody else." The Doctor responded. Before the Doctor could walk away, Clara grabbed him by his suspenders and pulled his mouth toward hers. "Mmph! Clara!" The Doctor cried, his voice muffled by Clara's mouth. "Oh, just shut up, you clever boy," Clara murmured. The Doctor shrugged and wrapped his arms around her lower back. They stood there making out for almost five minutes, while the Alphas were busy finding bottles of medicines and generally being useful. "Was cartophanine one of the things on that chart?" Rachel asked, pulling a bottle of sloshing purple liquid out of a cabinet. They had checked the other charts and found that they had all been injected with the same drugs, except for Gary. He hadn't gotten as many as Nina and Hicks had, but Dr. Rosen assumed that was because he had arrived in the medical room later. Hicks also had more tranquilizers than Nina and Gary. "He would put up a fight!" Bill had commented. Dr. Rosen looked up from Gary's chart. "Oh, uh, yes, cartophanine was one of the drugs." Rachel frowned and read the label. "Aggressive antidepressant and fever reducer. Why would they need antidepressants and fever reducers?" She called. "Maybe they're depressed and have fevers," Bill offered sarcastically. "I seriously doubt it," Dr. Rosen responded, oblivious to Bill's sarcasm. "We can ask the Doctor when he gets back. What's taking so long? Kat can't have gotten far!" Just then, the Doctor and Clara burst in. The Doctor was very red in the face and Clara was grinning from ear to ear. "Did you get Kat?" Bill asked earnestly. Clara tried to suppress her smiling and the Doctor got even redder. "Erm, no. We discovered that Hector Dearborne took her." The Doctor blushed. "And you didn't get her back?" Rachel asked, incredulous. Clara suppressed a giggle. "We got...held up. I fell and he came back to help me," Rachel raised her eyebrows, clearly suspicious of other activities ensuing. When Clara walked past her, she whispered, "Let's talk about what happened later," Clara looked at her, biting her bottom lip to keep from grinning. AN: I hope you enjoyed that whouffle... I'm not much of an expert when it comes to the subject of kissing... I don't know what the problem is, but FanFiction won't let me put anything in bold or italics anymore, even if it's copy and pasted from Word. Poop.
