"So! Alphas, what did you find out?" The Doctor cried. He whirled around the room to look at the pile of medicine bottles that Rachel and Bill had collected while the Doctor and Clara were 'finding Kat'. "Oh no, this does not look good at all," the Doctor commented. Dr. Rosen hurried over. "What? What were they doing to them?" "I have absolutely no clue, but it doesn't seem like a good thing," the Doctor said seriously, bending down to inspect the bottles closer. "We need someone on the inside to tell us... And no, that does not mean take hostages!" The Doctor pointed a finger at Bill. "We wouldn't do that," Bill said pointedly. "Actually, it does sound like something we would do," commented Rachel. "We've done it before," The Doctor looked very disappointed. "I would expect better from you, but considering what I've already seen you do, I've learned to know better. Clara, search for what they were using Hicks, Gary, and Nina for on the computer. Please," he added. Clara moved to the computer, hiding her smile at the Doctor's 'please'. "There's still one drug we haven't been able to find," Dr. Rosen told the Doctor. "Um, Element Beta. We've searched everywhere," "Element Beta? That's ringing some bells..." The Doctor quickly walked over to the computer where Clara was standing. He gently nudged her aside with his hip. "'Scuse me," Typing lightning fast, the Doctor watched as symbols began to scroll down the screen. "Maybe YOU should be the one to do the computer stuff," Clara said, impressed. "It's only because I know exactly what…I'm...looking for..." The Doctor slowed as he brought a molecular diagram onto the computer. By now, Bill, Rachel, and Dr. Rosen had gathered around the computer as well. "Well this isn't good at all," the Doctor murmured. "Why? What is that?" Rachel asked. "This is the molecular biology of Element Beta, the only thing you couldn't find, and rightly so. Element Beta is a solution of Ardive blood with other chemicals. Most of them are harmless, they make the human blood want to combine with the Ardive blood. There are also Ardive hormones infused." The Doctor examined the diagram. "What does that mean?" Clara asked, thoroughly interested. "The Ardives are trying to make the Alphas into Ardives. Alpha-Ardives. I strongly suspect that their plan all along was to deposit Element Alpha on Earth before it exploded, so humans could be converted into Alphas. I was wrong before, by the way, about how it was an alien that caused your abilities. Well, it was an alien, but they did it on purpose for their own use. To convert you into the ultimate Ardive warrior." The Doctor proclaimed, having figured everything out. "What about Stanton Parish? And the Cybermen?" Dr. Rosen asked. The Element Alpha thing didn't really surprise him. He had secretly agreed with the Doctor's solution to Alpha abilities. "You said that Stanton Parish was virtually indestructible? Heh, reminds me of an old friend of mine. Anyway, I'd be willing to bet that he was the one to put the green homing wires into the Cybermen. He probably died many times in the process. Cybermen make good slaves. Don't need to eat, don't need to sleep, no emotions, plus they're programmed to make more of themselves." The Doctor explained. "But what about Kat? And how do we unhook Hicks, Nina, and Gary without killing them?" Clara asked. "I suspect that if we could find Element Alpha, we can administer it and they would be back to normal. It should reverse the affects of Element Beta. And I'm rethinking my theory that Hector Dearborne is an Ardive with a perception filter, like I told Clara. He's probably an Alpha-Ardive. They can shape shift, most likely as a side affect of Element Beta. I believe...that Kat is being held and pumped full of all of...that," the Doctor gestured to the pile of medicines. Rachel looked horrified. "We have to save her!" "And we have to save them," the Doctor pointed to the unconscious figures on the hospital beds. "As well as make sure that the Cybermen go back to where they came from AND cause to Ardive to lose the Tumect War. This should be fun!" The Doctor clapped his hands like a child at Christmas. "In what way will this be fun?" Bill whispered to Rachel. AN: The plot thickens...
