CHAPTER NINETEEN
It wasn't Vriska's fault that she liked John. Actually, that was Dave's fault. He had kept rambling on and on and on about how wonderful John was, and soon, Vriska herself saw just how great John was. Sure, he was a bit silly, but his pranks were devious and he had a really good fake evil laugh.
After she drove home with her family and their tagalong, Kanaya, she went up to her room and found herself stalking John Egbert's Facebook page for the umpteenth time since her little crush on the blue polo wearing boy.
A soft knock came on the door after a while, and she changed browsers before answering and seeing Kanaya, willowy and graceful before her and smiling down at her from her great height. Kanaya almost was as tall as Gamzee, but he slouched all the time so no one actually knew how tall he really was.
"Vriska, may I talk to you?"
"If you want," Vriska said, turning and sitting down in her black, spinning desk chair.
Kanaya sat down on the bed and smiled. "How have you been feeling, Vriska?"
"Good," Vriska said. "Why do you need to know?"
"Simply checking in," Kanaya said. "Did you know your brother cheated on Sollux?"
"I heard," Vriska said, internally giggling. She had told Dave it was to break up Sollux and Eridan so he could get his best friend back. She had told Sollux and John to meet their respective boyfriends behind that building. When they both just happened to meet up, well, let's say that was just luck. "It's truly awful how Eridan could do something like that. I did hear from that goth LaLonde girl that Eridan had been a bit of a player in England."
"She told me that too," Kanaya said. "But I really thought they had a chance."
"You did?"
"I did."
"Well then," Vriska said. "Sorry it didn't."
"How is Dave doing?"
"Dave?"
"Yes, Dave. You two have become extremely close over these last few days. I figured you would know how he felt ever since John broke up with him."
"So it's official?"
"I thought you'd be the first to know."
"I'm obviously not."
"Obviously." Kanaya rested her chin in her palm, thinking. "So you don't know how Dave is doing?"
"I do," Vriska said, questioning Kayana's motives silently. "But I didn't know it was official."
"Well it is."
"Fine."
"So how is he?" Kanaya seemed a little irritated now. Vriska took a quick mental note; Kanaya was starting to get impatient. So there was a motive.
"Dave is fine," she said.
"You're lying."
"How do you know?"
"I know because I may not have connections to Dave, but I have a connection to Rose, who just happens to be very good friends with Dave. Don't doubt my abilities, Serket."
"Oh, Mother Theresa is getting defensive," Vriska muttered.
"I know for a fact that this was your fault. I know you set this up."
"What proof do you have?"
Kanaya's mouth stayed shut.
Vriska smirked. "You have no proof. I'm innocent until proven guilty. Just ask Terezi."
"Despite her claim of blind justice, she will lean in your favor as you are her blood sister."
"Not my fault we cut our hands open and exchanged blood molecules—Wait how did you know about that?"
Kanaya only stood up and walked gracefully towards the door, skirt swaying gently. "Like I said, Vriska, I have my ways."
Then, Kanaya was gone, and Vriska was left a little stunned in her chair before she turned around and went back to her stalking.
