AN: Happy 5th of July! Sorry, this chapter is very short. Only 2 more to go!
The Doctor was on his back under the silver TARDIS console. He was wearing round black goggles and had thrown his tweed jacket over a railing. Dr. Rosen came down the stairs from the med bay.
"How're you doing?" Dr. Rosen asked.
The Doctor rolled out from under the console and stood up, wiping his hands briefly on his pants. "Well, I've set up the mechanism that will transmit the photostimulator, and I'm working on giving it a set of commands to target every Alpha on Earth and to make the Alpha part of their brains inactive. It shouldn't hurt at all. I still don't know if it would affect Gary, since he wasn't affected the first time, but I think he'll be okay."
"Right." Dr. Rosen sighed. "God knows how my team will react when they wake up without their abilities." He ran a hand through his thinning gray hair.
The Doctor wasn't sure how to respond to this, so he pulled the goggles back over his eyes and told Dr. Rosen he needed to get back to work.
About twenty minutes later, the Doctor rolled back out. He put the goggles on the TARDIS console and put his tweed jacket back on. Running a hand through his hair, the Doctor pushed a orange button and pulled a lever.
Outside, a blue light erupted from the bottom of the TARDIS and traveled up, to where it exploded off of the light on top. Millions of rays of lights flew off in every direction, all over the globe.
"Doctor Rosen, I've sent out the signal," said the Doctor when he reached the med bay.
Dr. Rosen looked up from the body of Stanton Parish, which had been uncovered. He quickly tossed the sheet back over it. "Ahem. So when will it take affect?"
"Not sure. Soon, I would expect, since they're right at ground zero of the signal." Just as the Doctor spoke, five streams of blue light came through the ceiling and shot into the heads of Nina, Hicks, Rachel, Bill, and Kat. Their backs arched, but they regained normal composure as soon as it had started. Still, none of their eyes opened.
The Doctor walked to Rachel's bed and looked at the screen. The red mass was shrinking rapidly. "It's working," said the Doctor. But is it working on Clara? He thought. I didn't think she was an Alpha, but anything can happen. "I have to go check on Clara. Yell for me if anything happens!" Dr. Rosen nodded. Gary was preoccupied with the electrical currents of the TARDIS. He looked like he was in awe.
The Doctor ran down the stairs and through the dark purple door. He entered his bedroom, kind of expecting to see Clara up and about, looking at all of his knock knacks. She wasn't. Clara was exactly as he'd left her, sprawled on his bed.
"Oh, Clara," whispered the Doctor, sitting next to her on his king sized bed. He stroked her hair softly. "Oh!" The Doctor suddenly had an idea. Shifting his position to her was completely on the bed, facing Clara, He put one hand on each of her temples. Concentrating, the Doctor entered Clara's subconscious.
AN: Oh no! Will Clara wake up?
