Hi guys. Sorry this has taken so long, and that it's so short. I've been busy. I'm hoping to knock out a few chapters this week. Maybe another tonight. Thanks for sticking with this. Enjoy.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Sollux got to school that morning and did everything he could to avoid crossing paths with Kanaya. He knew that if she saw him, she would question him to hell and back. Unfortunately, when he walked into his history class, there she was sitting on Eridan's desk chatting it up with him and Karkat. He internally groaned and stalked to his seat, sitting down quietly and pulling out his Gameboy.
Luckily, no one questioned him. Kanaya seemed to keep her nose out of his business, and instead he listened in on the group talking. It didn't get very interesting, however, so eventually he just tuned them out and turned his attention to his game.
Kanaya left for class, and Sollux ignored just about everyone until the class was over. Then, Eridan came over just to ask if he had gotten the last bit of notes. Sollux handed Eridan his notebook and told him to give it to him later, then walked away.
As for Vriska, she walked the halls confidently, a reluctant Dave Strider by her side. She had said he was in this until the end, but Dave didn't exactly agree. For him, her messing with his relationship was the end of their partnership. Vriska didn't let him off so easy. A little more blackmail involving a certain Serket sitting outside the Egbert household with a video camera and a threat to release it to the public as child pornography was involved.
Everyone had different ideas of what her motives were. Dave and John thought she was just being a bitch. Eridan thought Vriska was trying to ruin his life. Sollux didn't think Vriska had anything to do with him really. Everyone else thought she was a drama queen.
All but Karkat and Kanaya, who sat together at lunch that day, away from the others.
"Am I the only one here who thinks there's way more to this than we think?" Karkat asked as he bit into an apple.
"No," Kanaya said. "I've tried to talk to the others, but they're really hopeless. I can't get through to Sollux or Eridan, and Rose thinks I'm exaggerating. There's something else behind this. She's much more clever than we think."
"What're you thinking, Sherlock?"
"Simple, Watson," she said coyly. "I'm thinking we should do a little investigation of our own, much like she did earlier."
"When she was looking for evidence to prove Eridan was summoning creepy demons?"
"Exactly."
"How do we get her out of her room, though? She's a recluse."
"I have a plan," Kanaya said, leaning back into her chair. "It's a matter of who can pull it off, and I think I know exactly who can do it."
"Who?"
"Gamzee," she said confidently. "Gamzee Makara."
