I know it's short. But inspiration struck. Enjoy!

I only own Melody, Riley, Caleb and the plots. Not Finn or Rachel or anyone who was on glee. Those are all Ryan Murphy's.

Chapter 13: Pink Plus Sign

Melody bounced her leg up and down as Riley drove down the snowy street towards her parents house.

"Mel, you need to relax." Riley looked over at his wife with an amused smile on his face.

"I can't relax. How are you so calm right now?" She fretted, twisting her engagement and wedding ring around her finger. "How are you not completely crapping yourself?"

"Melody" He chuckled. He came to a stop along the curb in front of her parents house. "I'm not crapping myself as you would say because it's your parents. They're going to lose their minds, but in a good way. Just like my mom did." He smiled. "This is good news. Not bad news. Plus, we're married. Your dad can't kill me like he's threatened to many times before." He chuckled.

"But we've only been married for 6 months. What if..."

"We're giving them a grandchild. They're going to be ecstatic. I bet your Mom cries." He laughs. He undid his seat belt slowly and looked over at his twitching wife. "Now come on, let's do this."

She looked at him skeptically and waited for him to come around to her side and open the door for her. It was early February, and the Ohio roads and sidewalks were still slippery. Since they'd found out two weeks ago that they were expecting their first child, Riley had become an even more attentive husband. He opened doors, stepped first and made sure she as well taken care of. Not that he didn't do that on a usual basis, but he'd stepped up his game immensely.

She took his hand in hers as they walked up the salted walk. He squeezed her hand tightly in his when she knocked on the front door of her parents home, before reaching for the door handle and turning it to go inside.

"Hello?" She called as she toed off the Ugg boots she was wearing. "Anyone home?" They heard clanging coming from the kitchen.

"We're in here!" They heard. Riley smiled at Melody as he helped her out of her jacket. They journeyed more into the house to find her parents. They walked in and found her parents both busily starting dishes for dinner.

Rachel, for her part, put down the knife she was using to chop up a cucumber to turn around and look at them.

"Well hello. What do we owe this pleasure?" She asked softly. She grabbed a dish cloth and wiped off her hands before turning to her husband and smacking him in the shoulder. "Finn, look who's here."

"I know who's here. I heard them come in." He stopped what he was doing and turned to look at them. "Hey princess. Riley."

"Dad." They both smiled.

"Really, not that we mind you guys dropping by unannounced..." Finn scratched his head. "But what brings you by."

"We can't just drop by cause we're in the area?" Melody smiled as she leaned in to her husband.

Rachel eyed the couple in front of her.

"Oh you can. You just don't. Ever." Finn laughed. "You're notorious for at least calling first. Will you be staying for dinner? Your brother should be home soon..."

"We were hoping to take you guys out for dinner." Riley said softly. "You know, our treat."

Rachel immediately grew suspicious. She dropped the cloth she was holding and stepped closer to her daughter.

"Melody Faith..." Melody chuckled as her mother placed her hands on her cheeks.

"Just come to dinner with us Mom. Surely Caleb can survive on his own. Or we can wait for him. You're choice."

"Where are you taking us? Do I need to change?" Finn looked down at his clothes. Melody laughed at him.

"Dad, you're fine. We're just going to Mario's. And since when do you care?"

He shrugged. "Just thought it was a good question to ask. You guys are acting really strange..."

They ended up leaving Caleb a note explaining where they had gone. The four of them piled into Riley and Melody's car and made their way to Mario's. When they arrived, Melody and Riley sent Rachel and Finn inside a head of them. She had to grab the gift from the glove box and she didn't want her parents to see. They were already suspicious enough.

That didn't help matters, when they got into the restaurant. They got to their table and Rachel and Finn were eyeing them even more so as they arrived.

"Okay, we're here. Spill before your mother loses her mind." Finn laughed. Rachel was bouncing her leg in much the same fashion that Melody had been on the drive over to the house.

"Why do you think there's something going on? " Melody faked. "Can't we just take the world's best parents out for dinner without my egghead of a brother?"

Riley laughed from beside her.

"This is all just a little...weird." Rachel sighed.

The meal was uneventful. Riley kept a hand on her thigh during the meal, and Rachel and Finn took turns eyeing them both down. When the plates were cleared away and dessert ordered, both Riley and Melody looked at each other.

"Should we tell them?" Riley whispered loudly into his wife's ear. She nodded and pulled the small box out of her purse and handed it to her mother.

"What is this?" Rachel asked as she tore at the paper. Melody just shrugged. Inside the small, slim box was a silver frame that was engraved with the words "World's Greatest Grandparents." And inside that frame, was a copy of Melody's first sonogram, which was dated 5 days prior. Melody was officially 13 weeks pregnant with their first grandchild.

She heard both her parents gasp almost simultaneously.

"Is this?" Her mother asked from behind her hand.

Melody smiled as she looked at her parents, placing her hands on her stomach which was still flat. "Congratulations Mom and Dad. You're going to be grandparents in August." She smiled.

Rachel was up and out of her seat before Melody could blink. She felt her Mom's arms around her neck and tears on her cheek just as she chuckled.
Riley turned to her and mouthed 'told you so' before chuckling and accepting a handshake from Finn. Life was great.
