OMG! I'm updating already? Yup!

Today, we get a look at what TNC is really like while they all enjoy their Taco Bell. Oh, and I guess I should finish that conversation I interrupted with the end of the chapter, huh? I mean, it's only fair.

Anyway, here you go. Oh, and it's Duncan's view point.

Chapter 6 - Beat the Road You Drive On

I was facinated by the scene unfolding in front of me. How much more interesting Chris seemed to me now that he had a past, and some semblance of a human soul. It was hard to imagine the picture of cruel, cold evil that was Chris McLaine as anything other than what he appeared to be. In yet, this Christine clearly haunted his past, and that amused me greatly. I was then determined to find out exactly what had happened between them, so that I could maybe blackmail Chris later.

"So, Chris," Christine said, after a break the conversation, that felt like it had been caused by the end of a chapter, "Are these your contestants? They don't amount to much, do they?"

"At least we're not overly pampered wusses," I countered before Chris could say anything. My comment was met with an approving "Ooh!" from my peers.

"Funny," one of the TNCreeps spoke for the first time. I think her name was Coco? She snapped her gum as she gave me a bored sort of stare. "How many years did it take you to come up with that one, eh, hot stuff?"

I honestly couldn't tell if she was trying to insult me or not. It was hard to tell.

DJ, being the some-what-annoyingly kind hearted person he was, quickly intervined. "Hey, uh, why don't we all go eat our lunches now, huh?" He laughed a bit nervously, "I don't know about you all, but I'm starving!"

"Amen to that, brother!" Owen exclaimed.

We all broke up and went back to our seats as TNC got in line to order. I was sitting with DJ and Geoff, pouring as much hot sauce as there was left in the bottle onto my taco when Gwen and Owen came over.

"Mind if we sit with you?" Gwen asked us.

"We don't mind, do we guys?" Geoff replied.

"Mmph," was my only reply, as I was too focused on my much more important hot sauce. Owen sat down next to me and Gwen sat down with Geoff and DJ.

"So, what do you make of our competition?" Gwen wondered.

"I'd say about ninety percent of them will break something in the first half hour," I estimated, "Bones, I mean. I can't imagine that they had any real challenges on their show. Did you see how pampered they were?"

"I wonder if they did any challenges as hard as ours?" Owen wondered.

"I doubt it," DJ replied, "I mean, our very first challenge was cliff diving into shark infested waters. What was their first challenge?"

"If I remember correctly, it was a pillow fight," Geoff answered.

"I wouldn't know," said Gwen, "I fell asleep halfway through the episode."

At that moment a few of the TNCreeps walked over to us. Skinny Danny, tiny Jeff, tinier BJ, mustachioed Ozzy, and slender Glenda. I swore none of us invited them to sit with us, but they pulled up chairs anyway.

"Hi there!" Danny greeted, for some reason getting really up in my face, "What's up, friends?"

"We're not your friends," I growled, pushing him away.

"Aw! Don't be like that!" Glenda pleaded, "I bet we can all get along, despite our having to compete! Have any of you ever seen the show we're going to be on?"

None of us had. But I didn't want us to look like we were going into this totally blind, so I said: "Of course! But, uh, why don't you say something about it to see if you're right?"

Danny let out the most annoying laugh I have ever heard in my entire life. It was painful, and I thought my ears were going to start bleeding or something.

"I've seen it!" Danny exclaimed, "I've seen every episode of every season! It's really cool! The host, Ted, is a genius! One time he had the contestants slide down a giant slide that was lubricated with ice cream! Ain't that grand?"

I stared at him, bored. Really? If that's what we had to look forward to, then this was going to be a snap! I snickered to myself just thinking about it.

BJ looked at me and glowered. "What're you smilin' about, punk?" he asked rudely.

I frowned. "Who are you calling punk, shorty?" I growled, "If I were you, I'd watch what I say."

BJ laughed stupidly. "Oh, you think you're a tough guy, huh?" he sneered, "Think you're better than me 'cause you're taller?"

"Dude, I know I'm tougher than you, because I wasn't on a prissy show," I countered. Next thing I knew, BJ was on the table, grabbing for my throat as Danny and Glenda tried to hold him back. Ozzy and Jeff laughed, while I too was being held back by Gwen, Geoff, DJ, and Owen.

I guess our outbursts were loud enough to draw the attention of everyone else, because they all gathered around the table trying find out had just happened.

"What'd you call me?" BJ growled, ignoring the crowd.

"You heard me!" I shouted back, "I wasn't held back by living in a posh mansion on a horrible show! I had to work for my place!"

Glenda and Danny had to work extra hard to hold back BJ when I said that. My statement also appeared to offend Jeff and Ozzy, because they growled and also tried to attack me. Not that I couldn't have taken all three of them, but I was somewhat relieved when Rudolf, Buck, and Bethany pounced on them.

"Hey! Calm down everyone!" DJ called above the noise, "We can settle this later!"

"Yeah!" Tristan agreed, trying to bring peace, "I mean, that's why we're going to be on that show, right? To see who's better?"

I had to admit, his words were wise, and it quickly settled the matter. Everyone dispursed back to their own tables. I sighed as I watched everyone.

"This is gonna be tough," I told my companions.

"You got that right," Owen replied, taking a bite of his burrito, "Those guys are scarier in person than they are on TV."

After we all finished, we all got back on the bus, leaving TNC behind. We were driving for a while when suddenly we were over taken by a large familiar bus. Startled, I looked out the window and saw TNC. They were all waving at us. I scowled at them.

It. Is. On.

Hm, this chapter is kind of weird, huh? Oh well. Next chapter I'm going to do something a little different. You'll see what I mean.

Anyway, be sure to review and leave a comment! That's how I know if I'm doing well or not. Ya dig?
