"Man, I really don't want to go monster hunting again." Mia whined as everyone walked out into the monster hunting zone with their respective weapons as they started to walk in random directions.
"Wait, guys we are better together, if we stay close, we can get more resources much faster." As always, Snowflake being the strategic voice of reason, brings them back together, though they look more like a bunch of randoms who just met than a true team.
The team is then displayed on a screen as they progress
"Of course, Snowflake brings them together. You have really learned a lot about them over the past few weeks." Tex's voice could be heard as the team met their first group of monsters.
"Well, I have been making sure to get them ready for what they need to do. You know I need a degree of knowledge on them to properly prepare them." The team started meeting progressively more difficult monsters
"Right, you don't have to tell me twice. Why haven't you been getting prepared though, or been getting me prepared? Especially since you are the most vital person here."
"Because we don't need training. We don't need to prepare yet. But don't believe that I am the most important person here, I'm just the catalyst. These guys will change the world." The feeling in his voice emphasised that he actually cared for the prisoners unlike how he acted all of the time.
The team is no longer seen on a screen
"Sips. Provide support for Jerome, the creepers are getting too close to exploding him." Snowflake was leading the group who was surrounded by a horde of monsters, fighting for their lives Simon swung his battle axe to cut a creepers head off that was about to blow up Jerome
"Yeah, we're in a tight spot here." Was Simon's reply as Sips ran towards them, weakening another side of their protective circle. Snowflake was worrying now as the wounds on all of the prisoners was starting to affect them all.
"I'm down!" was Sky's yell as a skeleton tore the muscle out of his leg and scrambled away from the front line. "Where are all of these monsters coming from?" The group continued on fighting for half an hour with many faltering and falling in that time. Luckily. Ssundee decided to go into his destructive Derp mode and destroyed many of the remaining monsters before running away. Leaving Jerome on his own.
"Snow! Now I'm alone." There wasn't many monsters yet but there was still enough to be very difficult. Jerome then charged a group of zombies and dented their skulls into oblivion before facing absolutely rabid endermen teleporting around and trying to punch him with their large arms. His swings though, were always wide enough to catch an enderman by surprise. Crushing them like he did the zombies and whenever a creeper came up he smashed them into a zone where endermen would teleport to blow them up. By the end of that skirmish he was battered and bruised all over but he had survived and the spiders were very wary of someone for once in their lives considering the destruction he just wreaked upon the other mobs. He was lucky that Snowflake could destroy the skeletons with her kunai before as he made a run for it as another wave started appearing and the skeletons weren't fast enough to form into a group. Reaching the entrance to the prison, Jerome activated the mechanism to open the door just as he was shot with an arrow. "So close, I was SO CLOSE!" he yelled surprising everyone.
"So what happened after I died?" snowflake asked, depressed that they lost all of those resources.
"After you died, I took down those endermen that Ssundee decided to tick off, ran to the door and shot in the neck." The disappointment in the room grew even heavier as the resources they literally fought to collect would all go to the wardens with them not getting anything.
"Well done all of you." All heads turned as Aaron walked into the room, relieving them since they will not be dealing with a stressed Texas all of the time anymore. "You did far better than we expected." This set all of them on edge and their relief was replaced by anger
"What now? You mean you set that up? We fought all of those monsters just to fill your pocket?" Snowflake, her face twisted in rage again, which sadly is one of the only facial expressions Aaron ever sees on her face anymore.
Ignoring the rest of the complaints Aaron focused on snowflake. "Why can't you ever flipping understand? Stop patronising me before you know what the hell you are talking about!" Aaron yells in frustration. "And I was in a really good mood. Tex, after this please take her to Icy and lock them somewhere until they sort it out. Everyone, this test was made to see how you have improved in combat and improved as a team. And for your exceptional performance. We will be upgrading all of your living quarters." The shouts of surprise and excitement from all of the prisoners and snowflake no longer glaring bloody murder at him brought back the faint smile that was on his face.
"Um… can I please learn how to use another weapon?" Mia's timid voice drifted through the growing silence. She was looking down as she said that and seemed to have never been excited by the improvement.
"Why would you ask that all of a sudden Mia? And why are you sad? You did really well out there." Aaron, trying to discover why Mia's voice and countenance was one of defeat. Some of the prisoners were surprised at his concern
"You are congratulating everyone on the good work they've done and I'm getting credit I don't deserve. My dagger is too small to be useful because most of the monsters will take advantage of my attack and damage me and everyone else." Mia then turned towards to Aaron in determination. "Teach me how to use a new weapon. Better, let me design my own. Let me design a weapon that is perfect for me. Let me be as strong as the others." The desperation in Mia's voice made Aaron look away in thought. But to Mia, it looked like he refused her offer, causing her to look down again, holding back tears at the fact that she would always be the weak link in the great team that the prisoners have become.
"Mia, you are going into the lab with Tessa to design your equipment when she wakes up. And you will be responsible for managing her workload." Aaron walked away not seeing that Mia's tears didn't stop streaming as she knew of the skill in Tessa's building and knew he placed enormous possibility, trust and responsibility for Tessa's safety in her hands with that command.
"Ugh, where am I?" Tessa finally woke up in her cell after her long stay in care to fix her consciousness.
"Well, she finally wakes, you going to drag her away to start designing your weapon now Mia?" Snowflake verbally prodded to try to relieve the boredom she felt with an argument.
"She just woke up, don't you think we should give her some time to relax before she starts working again?" Mia took the bait as she looked annoyed at snowflake's complete insensitivity to the amount of work that Tessa has done.
The conversation the girls was having was really confusing Tessa as she didn't know what was going on since she couldn't remember past… "Oh come on!" this quickly quietened the girls banter as they both looked at Tessa, surprised by her outburst. "They caught me didn't they? They caught me working hard so I can get out of this hellhole."
"They found you in the lab in a work-induced coma. You've been out for weeks." Mia stated remembering that she would not know anything from when she went into the coma.
"Weeks? I've been out for weeks? What has happened?" Tessa looked absolutely mortified that so much time has passed. "Warden!" She ran to the bars in absolute desperation as she yelled out that word.
"Keep it down. We want to keep our hearing, not be deaf to the world just because you need to do something." Snowflake's flat but obviously annoyed voice droned across the room.
"Oh shut up would you? You don't have the right to be a Bitch to us just because your sister is somewhere you don't like." The look on Snowflake's look turned extremely sour as Tessa's confusion mounted even higher than before, being clearly seen on her face.
"Could you please tell me what has happened while I have been out and how the 'Warden'" has made our life even worse?"
"Finally, someone who isn't getting fooled by him!"
"Shut up. Tessa, while you have been out, we have gotten a new prisoner, done much fighting and, Snowflake's arms were frozen solid by her sister." Mia had was visibly getting frustrated at snowflake's attitude.
Tessa though took offence to Mia defending Aaron and the fact that Icy froze Snowflakes arms took a little to sink in. "Why are you defending him?"
"What?"
"Why are you defending the man who is making our life miserable? The man who is making you fight for your lives over and over and kills you on a daily basis? Why do you like a tyrant?" even Snowflake thought that was a little over the top. "Wait, Icy froze your arms?" the pause after that outburst stretched on to a very uncomfortable length.
"Tessa, you really haven't learned anything since you came here have you?" Snowflake announced finally losing the trace of bitterness in her voice. 'Was that how I treated him? Why is he so confusing!' "We have all become very competent fighters Tessa, we have been improving our living conditions and grew as a group. We are now like family to each other."
"Why do you hate him so much anyway? You have not been here and the one time he was trying to help you, you disregarded his rules and went into a coma." Mia gained a little arrogance in her voice at the complete ignorance that Tessa has been showing.
"Just leave me alone." Tessa headed to her bed to try and end the conversation but only made Mia's dislike for her grow.
"No tell me why you won't listen to what we say, why you are disregarding what he was trying to do. Why"
"Okay girls, you are all going to go to training while Tessa gets some rest." Texas strode in with her trademark armour making her look faceless. "And you are going to be pushed hard this lesson since you two seem to be the two weakest fighters."
A/N side note this will come out less regularly since I just got into something that is chewing up part of the time I use to write.
