Chapter 6
Gary's POV
Now I am starting to understand how much of a hassle it was for Misty to drag Brock every where, especially when there happened to be a rather 'pretty' female in his sight; such as Officer Jenny or Nurse Joy (which happens to be his favorites).
I have a feeling that the fake is still following me, as I walked down the streets of a run down neighborhood. Which was starting to give me the creeps.
Many of the houses were either destroyed or had its windows and doors planked. It looks something like one of those games that one of Ash's challengers played... what was it called... as far as I remember, there were zombies.
"Brock, are you sure the pokemon center is this way?"
"Yes. I walk through here every day to heal my pokemon after the battles." We kept walking, and I had to let go of Brock due to my arms being sore. Which he reveled at, and he stretched and jumped around in glee.
Like Brock proposed, the pokemon center entered our sight, it was just down the street and up a hill. But like the entire neighborhood, it too seemed run down, and showed little life within it. We opened the doors and we were instantly met with a freezing gust of air.
My arms started to get goosebumps, from both the cold and the suspense. And I was losing my cool. This place was mining at my sanity, piece by piece.
"Lets get Trixie and get out of here." I mumbled to him, and he nodded quickly. Maybe I am not the only one afraid of what we might encounter.
We entered the pokemon center, and it was dark and damp. The counter seemed to have collected dust. And to my surprise, Nurse Joy wasn't here. And being in many pokemon centers, I knew that if Nurse Joy wasn't here, something bad either happened or is happening. My heart raced quicker, as I turned to Brock, "Alright, you search down here, I will search up stairs."
"Are you sure you want to go up there by yourself? Even I am scared to go up there alone."
"I am sure, just call me if you find something." I said as I turned around and ran towards the stairs, "Or someone." I finished and I sped up the stairs to find myself on the second floor. I knew that the Fake said room five, but I had a feeling that he could move here at any given moment. She may not even be here anymore.
I opened the door that said "1" on it, and it was empty. Although I went and searched through it; closests, bathrooms and all and no sign of Trixie. I then ran to the next one, "2" and I did the same, still no sign of her. This went on until I reached the final door, "5". I opened it and I heared a faint squeak. Not the kind that an old door makes, but the kind that a person makes when they are spooked.
"Trixie, if that is you, please say something." I pleaded, and waited for a response.
"...G-Gary? Is that you?" a feminine voice spoke, and it sounded like it came from the broom closet. I quickly walked towards it and opened it, to find Trixie.
Her hands were tied behind her back, ankles tied together. She smiled, and I untied her as quickly as I could. How could the Fake do this? Why would he do this? What can he gain from this?
"I thought that I would never be saved." Trixie spoke up, and my train of thought derailed. Then I suddenly remembered why I came to find her in the first place.
"Trixie, you have to help me."
"What's wrong, Gary? Did something happen?"
"Ash disappeared, and the one who kidnapped you was-"
"Ash, I know."
"...No, that wasn't Ash... Well, I guess he is but he isn't!"
"What... What are you saying?"
"That kidnapping son of a-"
"Gary, you know how I feel about cussing."
"Sorry... but that guy isn't our Ash. He said he came from a different dimension. As far as I know, he wanted to stay here in Ash's place." I explained to her everything I knew, and as I did so, I saw her mind working to take in all of the new information.
"So, what should we do?"
"I am not sure, but I need to ask you a few questions. But first, we need to get out of here beofore-"
"AAAAHHH!" a masculine voice screamed. It sounded a lot like, "BROCK!" I ran down the stairs, with Trixie behind me. When we arrived on the first floor, we saw a horrible scene.
Brock turned on his flash light, in which was aimed at one of the walls. But this wall sent shivers down my spine.
It had writing on it, it said, "YOU CAN NOT RUN", and it was written with blood. Was this here before? If so, how long has it been here?
"Brock, did you know that-"
"No, I normally go in and straight out. I don't bother looking around." He said shakily as I took a closer look at the wall. There was more, it held a note.
"To whoever may be reading this,
I am Nurse Joy of Pewter City, and this place is no longer safe. Constantly being chased by things that can and cannot be seen with the human eyes. Pokemon grew angry, and attacked everyone who lived here. Many had died in our attempts to calm them, and whoever is upset. But we had to retreat, the pokemon center of Pewter City is now under construction near the town exit towards the Viridian Forest. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience."
Now I understand why this place was giving me the creeps, this place is probably haunted.
"I think we should leave, before we make anyone or anything upset." I suggested, Brock and Trixie both nodded without a moments hesitation. We ran out the the center and out of the neighborhood and into the plaza of Pewter City, which was crawling with people. We all sighed in relife, we are safe once again... or, so we hope.
Ash's POV
Consciousness started to get a hold of me once more, as I heard footsteps heading towards me. My eyes snapped open, but only darkness greeted me. I slowly stood to my feet, and quickly used my aura to sense my surroundings. I sensed pokemon, but also a person. They seemed to be fighting. Then more entered, many more pokemon and people entered the quarrel. I am now about to be in a war zone.
I quickly ran the opposite way, but remembered that this was the direction I was running from Professor Oak. If I go back, I have no choice but to comply. If I stay, I would most likely get either killed or injured to the point that I wouldn't be able to walk.
I started to panic, where can I go? What should I do? I started to run, I didn't care which or where I was going, as long as I was going away from my problems. I sensed myself being followed. I turned my head around to find a pack of Mightyena chasing me. They must've thought I was one of the soldiers of the human army.
I used a little more of my aura to speed up my running, but it wasn't enough, they sped up as well. Now we are neck and neck, one wrong move and I will be their next supper. I used a little more aura and I sped past them and reached the end of Viridian Forest. I have now entered Pewter City.
I looked behind me to find the Mightyena glaring and growling at me as they stood at the edge of the forest. They then turned around and ran off. I sighed in relife, but it was brief. I suddenly felt a shock of pain. I looked at my hands to find them losing color, almost like it was turning grey. I used too much aura, and now I am defensless. If I use any more I will either faint or die... much like Lucario and Sir Aaron. I stuffed my hands in my jeans pockets and walked around town. I began looking for a place to stay, maybe a little rest will help restore my aura.
I looked around, but only saw houses and business buildings. And most of all, rocks. Pewter City is known for mining rocks any way... I guess the rocks are no surprise. But in my world, they used the rocks (depending on the kind) for our everyday lives, such as gravel or coal. But, now that I might be staying in this world for a... long time, I might as well figure out what they use the rocks for.
My thoughts were stopped when I bumped into someone. I landed on the ground with a thud. I was about to get up when I heard a voice, "Hey, you alright, Ash?" I looked up to find "Not-Gary", what is he doing here? I thought he left abroad.
"What are you doing here? I thought you had to fight."
"I do, my camp is just outside Pewter City. I normally come here for some peace from all mayhem from camp. And what brings you here? I thought that Gramps was-"
"About that..." I interupted, knowing what "Not-Gary" was implying. Professor Oak must've told "Not-Gary" that I was going back to my original world. That big, fat liar.
"Ash, is something wrong? If it was about the kiss, I swear I-"
"It wasn't about that. I just... I don't know how you'll take it. He is your grandfather... I dont want to bring a gap between you two."
"Ash, no matter what the issue, you can tell me anything."
"Alright, if you insist..." I took a deep breath, "Your grandfather is working for one of his assistants who is named Ash."
"I do remember a guy who assisted my granddad, but what does that have to do with-"
"Ash created a machine to travel to my universe, to take our peace and bring it back to your universe, while replacing my world's peace with your world's chaos. Your grandfather was in it the entire time. If my world gets this chaos, my world won't stand a chance..."
"Which means..."
"My world's destruction."
