I'm sorry, but due to writer's block, Capture the flag is gonna have to wait a chapter or so… I had stuff I wanted to do first.

Rythian Pov

When Renara asked me to go and say hi to my friends and catch up in a minute, I didn't expect to walk in on her screaming in the cabin.

Why? We'd been pranked.

Large splatters of ice cream and several types of sauce, sprinkles and random cherries were all over the floor, walls, even the ceiling.

And on the huge book Renara had left on the counter.

Renara was screaming at the Hermes camper standing in the middle of the room, laughing his podex off.

"C'mon, Ren, you got pranked. I know you have those cleaning spells, so what's the big deal? It's harmless, and we get a good laugh. And now your cabin's gonna smell like ice cream sundaes!" The Hermes camper said. He's got those looks his entire cabin does- a crooked, sarcastic smile, elfish features, upturned eyebrows.

"Nick, this isn't funny. You've just ruined my book!" She yells at him.

"Oh, so you're a daughter of Athena now?" He says. She scowls.

"That was an important magic spell book! You, immature, sarcastic little jerk can't remember that that's the book I had with me when I came to Camp? That that's the spell book my father died so I could have? You didn't think of that, did you?" She screams.

I'm utterly lost, but I decide to stay and see what happens. People are looking in through the windows and open door now to see what's happening.

Renara continues to scream at Nick, who's now trying to say sorry.

"Sorry?" My half-sister yells. "Sorry?! You think saying 'sorry' is going to fix that fact that you've just ruined my father's and I's lifetime work? That book was all I had left of him and YOU GO AND RUINED IT FOR A STUPID PRANK?!"

I can hear Chiron coming in the distance, but he's not here in time to stop Renara from backhanding Nick across the face and shoving him out the door into the crowd.

I turn to face the crowd and I see Kaeyi standing with Zoeya and a girl with dark curls and bright green eyes. Zoeya catches my eye and I shrug, like I don't have a clue.

Chiron shows up and hauls Renara and Nick off to the Big House. The crowd disperses until only Zoeya, Kaeyi and the other girl are left.

"What happened?" Asked Zoeya.

I gestured to the ice-creamed cabin.

"You know as much as I do." I say.

Kaeyi sighs. "You want help cleaning up?" She says.

"Thanks." I say. The other girl coughs.

"Oh, sorry! This is Belle." Kaeyi introduced. "She's new here too, daughter of Aphrodite." Belle smiles warmly at me.

"Belle- that's a French name, isn't it?" I say.

"Yep."

"Here, let's clean this all up." Zoeya says.

We spend the next free period before dinner mopping up sauce and ice cream. When we're done, we sit on the porch and talk. Belle tells us about how her and her brother Bo made it to camp, and then they tell me about the canoeing incident. I tell them about archery and seeing Sparkles* when the conch horn goes off.

I'm just about to go up to the dining pavilion when Renara shows up.

"C'mon, let's go." She says. "And thanks for cleaning up."

"No problem." I say.

After dinner, Chiron announces Capture the flag and campfire. Everyone cheered and rushed over.

When we got there, I find Zoeya and she drags me over to where Martyn and Toby where talking to Kaeyi and Belle. Teep joins us, & then Sjin came with Sips, Minty and Kim. Lomadia shows up with Honeydew, Xephos, Nilesy and Lalna. Beckii and Sparkles*join us too. I lose track of everyone as the rest of Area 11 show up with the rest of our friends. Renara even joins us, and I shift over to make room for her between me and Minty.

"So, Rythian, care to introduce me?" She says.

"Sure. Zoeya here is my best friend, and so is Teep, son of Apollo. You might remember him from archery. Martyn, the blonde in green, along with the others, Toby and Sjin, are the children of Katie and Travis Stoll. The pink haired girl is Kaeyi Grace, daughter of Jason and Piper Grace. The girl next to her-"

"I know Belle." She says.

"And the blonde girl and the two boys next to here and Lomadia, Lalna and Nilesy, children of Percy and Annabeth Jackson. Nilesy is the dark haired one. You know Beckii and Sparkles* and the rest of Area 11. Then there's Xephos and Honeydew- Honeydew's the ginger. Sips is the pale one, and Kim and Minty are the daughters of Clarisse and Chris Rodriguez."

She nods. Zoeya leans over. "Did you hear that Honeydew, Xephos and Sips all got claimed?"

I blink. "That was fast." I grab a smore.

"Yeah. Sips is a Hermes kid, Honeydew's Hephaestus, and Xephos was claimed by Nike."

Renara looked surprised. "Then he's head of the Nike cabin. Nobody's been in there since…" She trailed off and sighed. "Long story."

"Hey, Renara!" Says a girl. She looks like Lomadia, with grey eyes and blonde hair.

"Ashley! We've got a bit of a problem for teams tonight." Renara says. I bite into the smore. It was really good, I think offhandedly.

"I know. But please don't kill Nick. We need him for the plan."

"Fine. But Hermes is not going to be allies with Hecate for a long time, got it?"

"I know. Also, what's this about Nike having a camper?"

"Go ask..." Renara trails off and looks at me.

"Lomadia can introduce you to Xephos." I tell Ashley. She smiles at me.

"What are the teams?" Zoeya asks excitedly.

"Our team is Apollo, Hecate, Athena, Hermes, Demeter and possibly Nike. That mean the other team has Aphrodite, Ares, Hypnos, Dionysus, Hebe, Nemesis, Iris and Tyche."

"So Kaeyi, Belle, Kim and Minty are all on the other team." Zoeya says sadly.

Renara looks surprised. "Have you been claimed yet?" She asks.

Zoeya seems to deflate. "No."

"Then you might be a legacy." The daughter of Hecate says. "Did you know both your parents?"

"I didn't know my mother. She died when I was young."

Renara's silent for a moment. "Maybe Demeter… not Athena- definitely not. I'd be very surprised if you're Aphrodite. Iris, Hebe and Tyche are all ideas. Not Nemesis." She lists them off her fingers, then turns to look at her. "Your father was normal?"

"Nothing ever seemed unusual, if that's what you mean. I mean, he was scientist studying the healing properties of mushrooms."

"Have you seen pictures of your mother?" Renara asks. Zoeya starts.

"Of course. She seems normal enough. Blue eyes, red hair. My dad always said he loved the way my mother and I never got freckles or sunburned. She used to be a nurse, and she was in a musical group."

"Did you know her first name?"

"Ummm… Kayla." Zoeya said brightly. "Her name was Kayla Proasheck."

"You have your mother's surname?" I say, surprised.

"It used to be my dad's but after she died, he got our last name changed to hers. I think it's so we still feel like she's there, sometimes." She said sadly.

"Sparkles*!" Renara calls. He comes over.

"Yeah?"

"You do have a list of all the campers from Apollo, don't you?" She said.

"Not on me, but they're in our cabin." He said, sounding surprised.

"I think Zoeya might be a granddaughter of Apollo. Her mother's name was Kayla Proasheck, was in a musical group, red hair, blue eyes and never sunburned." She turned to Zoeya. "Is that all?"

"And she was a nurse." Zoeya said. "No freckles."

Sparkles* was quiet for a minute.

"I know we had a Kayla." He said. "She's on the honour roll for fighting in the Titan war. I don't know what she looked like, but it seems like you're right." He paused. "If capture the flag's in half an hour, I'd better go check." He dashed off.

"Where'd Sparkles* go?" Beckii asked.

"He went to check something." I said.

"Oh, okay." She sounded a bit disappointed.

I laugh comes from a few feet away and I see Toby cracking up as Martyn tries to get chocolate and marshmallow off his shirt.

Apparently someone sees this and yells, "Food fight!"

"Smore fight!" Someone corrects, but the treats are already flying across the campfire. I duck and see a smore hit Honeydew in the face.

He picks it off and eats some of it. "Not quite as good as a Jaffa." He grins and makes a smore before throwing it at Xephos, who retaliates by launching more at both the ginger and Lalna. Lalna nails Nilesy, who blames Lomadia, and the blonde girl smashes crackers and chocolate into Minty's face. Minty goes after Sjin and Sips and Kim helps her. Beckii is going after Belle and helping Kaeyi attack Martyn and Toby.

Zoeya whips one at me so I duck, and it hits Teep instead. We team up on Zoeya, but Belle joins her side. Belle stands and gets me in the side of the head so I lean forward and hit her shoulder. She pretends to faint, effectively causing me to dodge out of her path. At the last second, I feel bad and catch her.

Martyn, meanwhile, is getting pelted by Kaeyi while Beckii goes after Area 11 as a whole, minus Sparkles*. He stumbles back into me and all three of us end up on the ground in a pile. Kaeyi practically collapses from laughter and Beckii joins her as Kogie, Leo and Parv pelt poor Toby, who's yelling at Martyn for betraying him.

I stand up and brush myself off before helping Belle up. A blonde guy with blue-green eyes makes a mistake in going after Teep and gets pummeled. Belle helps Teep even though he doesn't need it.

"Belle, how could you go after your own brother?" He yells.

"Because I like to be mean to you, Bo!" she yells back, emerald eyes bright with energy.

Zoeya sneaks up behind me and leaps on my back, making me stumble and meet the floor. She leaps off and pulls me up.

"I got you! Now let's go after Xephos and Lomadia!"

I follow her and find Lomadia and Xephos just pwning Honeydew, Nilesy and Lalna. Sjin and Sips are under siege by Kim and Minty, and we pass them and I suddenly realize just how close the legacy and the son of Nike are sitting. They're crouching behind a seat together, shoulders touching.

I'm pretty sure Xephos likes Lomadia, and I wouldn't be surprised is it turned into a thing. But for now, all's fair in love and war.

I grab some chocolate, marshmallows and crackers and quickly make more smores. Zoeya's doing the same, and after a count of three, we attack.

I shove a smore down Xephos' coat and smash one behind his ear before he can turn. Zoeya's made a mess of Lomadia's long blonde hair already and throws another.

I'm distracted watching Zoeya and Xephos throws a smore and hits my collarbone. I retaliate, hitting him in the nose.

Xephos leans in and whispers to me that we should get the girls, because they've stopped fighting and are now licking chocolate off their hands. We arm ourselves and go for it.

I get Zoeya at the base of her ponytail and then in the chin. Xephos gets Lomadia in the forehead and then the shoulder. I grab Zoeya in a bear hug from behind her seat, effectively pinning her shoulders against the seat she stole from someone during the last few seconds.

Zoeya squirms and wriggles but I've gotten her trapped.

"Surrender?" I say. She shakes her head, laughing. I love that laugh.

"Then I guess I'll just have to tickle you…" I tease, trying to ignore the fact that her ponytail is tickling my neck or that my head is practically on her shoulder.

"No!" She says, mock alarmed, but I start to tickle her and she starts to giggle like crazy.

"Stop! I give in!" She finally says, breathless from laughing. I laugh, too and take the seat next to her. We watch Kaeyi and Martyn team up against Beckii and Sparkles*, while Kogie, Leo and Parv continue to mercilessly go after Toby. Kim and Minty still have trapped Sjin and Sips in a corner, and are throwing food rather violently. Renara and Ashley are having a laugh over in the corner, and Ashley's face in covered in gooey marshmallow and melting chocolate. Honeydew, Lalna and Nilesy are having a three-way war and poor Nilesy is going to have a fun time getting that much smore out of his hair anytime soon.

Chiron stomps his hoofs and everyone starts to settle down, returning to their spots.

"Now, now, I hope you've saved some energy for Capture the flag!" Everyone cheers and he waits for silence.

"The teams are Apollo, Hecate, Athena, Hermes and Demeter. That means the other team has Aphrodite, Ares, Hypnos, Dionysus, Hebe, Nemesis, Iris and Tyche with them. Have there been any changes?"

Everyone looks over to Renara and Ashley, probably expecting them to kick out Hermes for what Nick, their counselor, did.

"We have Nike's new camper and leader as well." Ashley said.

"Ah, yes. We'll save the formalities for tomorrow morning, though."

"Now, remember, the rules are simple. The creek is the boundary line. All of the forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. Each flag must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. The guards may not be within ten yards of the flag. No killing or maiming is allowed. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound or gagged. Prisoners may not leave the prison unless freed by someone on their team. Understood?" He said.

The camp dissolved into chatter again. Chiron stomped his hoof for silence.

"We meet at the edge of the woods in fifteen minutes. Your counselors will give you your instructions. You may go now."

"Zoeya, we'd better go tell Chiron that you're an Apollo legacy." Sparkles* said. Zoeya jumped up.

"So, I am then? That's so cool! Does that mean I'll be good at archery and healing and singing and stuff? Oh! And Teep and I are in the same cabin now! That's so cool!" She said excitedly.

Sparkles* headed towards the centaur and Zoeya followed, being her usual crazy ADHD self.

"C'mon, Rythian. We have like ten minutes to get cleaned up and get our armour on. I hope you remember the moves I showed you for your sword." Renara said. I brush chocolate out of my hair and hold back a sigh looking after Zoeya.

I need to tell her how I feel soon.
