"Setsuka-chan really if you keep scowling in that way you will get wrinkles." Lory said smiling happily at the small family before him and the scowing youth that sat between her parents. Kanae was still present so they were still fully immersed in their characters.
"Like Nii-san would go ahead with any of your hairbrained schemes." Setsu hissed.
They had just listened to Lory explaining how he would be happy to form a contract with the Heels with one of their own people, a contracted girlfriend of sorts to dispel the rumours. Lory's eyes glowed with pleasure at just how intense Kyoko's character was. The girl who had been scared to even enter the room after Ten had first transformed her sat before him as none other than Setsuka Heel and if the fire in her eyes was anything to go by he would have to scale back on his teasing a little.
He wouldn't be surprised if this brother loving idiot did not leap across the table and smack him otherwise.
"Come now Setsuka-chan. It would only be for two weeks. A few appearances together, public dates where the paparazzi can snap a few pictures and it's all sorted. Maybe even one of my own girls who are already working with you could do it? Kotonami-san is rather sought after." Lory wasn't sure in that moment who looked more funny, Setsu who looked as if she was deciding who to hit or Kanae who looked ready to faint.
"NO!" was Setsu's cold and instant reply "My Nii-san does not need a fake woman and he would never agree to such a thing!"
Lory smiled sardonically. "He would if he thought it would be keeping you safe Setsuka-chan."
Setsu literally froze, her eyes full of hate as she sat before the man. "You wouldn't dare."
In that moment Kanae wondered if it was part of her job description to stop the young woman from smacking her boss. After what Lory had just said she could very well justify the hit. She wouldn't mind laying him one in this moment herself. How the hell had he come to the conclusion of using her as a contract girlfriend? Thinking along those lines maybe she would allow Setsu to get one hit in and then stop her.
Setsu was fuming and she wasn't afraid of allowing the man before her to see that. He was nothing compared to her Nii-san, even if she did owe him her respect in that moment she wanted to smack that smile off his face.
"Now Setsu sweetie, Lory is only trying to help." Calvin said in his best soothing tone.
Setsu gave her father her killing glare. "NO! I will not allow it!" she cried out stamping her foot much like she had that morning before Cain. But Kanae saw this time that therr was no calming her with her brother not present. Setsu's rage was just building with every word spoken.
"Now Lory I also do not think that any contract lover would work. Surely they would just conclude that we are doing exactly as you are suggesting and giving Cain an alibi?" Kanae watched as Setsu seemed subdued slightly by Sayuri's words, but also noticed the way her eyes flashed dangerously at the words 'contract lover. '
I doubt the woman would get within 10 feet of Cain before she killed them. Kanae thought as she fidgeted uneasily in her chair. She did not want to be that woman.
"I agree president, they will just think that it is too soon and too convenient." Kanae almost let out a sigh of relief as Setsu offered her a slight smile.
But it was Lory who sighed. "Then I suppose an interview with all of you together as a family when you're not on set will get more publicity. I guess Cain is at the filming today..." the sound of knuckles cracking was the final straw for Sayuri it seemed.
"Oh Setsu for heavens sake! If you cannot sit with us in an adult manner you can very well go and wait outside! Just because Cain refused to let you go with him today it does not mean that we deserve your bad temper!" Setsu just scowled at her mother before standing and stalking from the room like a jungle cat on the prowl. "Kotonami-san please keep Setsuka-chan company... oh and give her this for me, it seems she left it here on her last visit."
Kanae felt the shiver of fear in following after the woman that the president had just pushed to the point of physical violence. But she decided better of showing her nerves as she took the Ipod from the older man before bowing to the seated people and following out after Setsu. Looking down at it she almost laughed. It was covered in skulls and gems. Very Setsuka, Kanae thought as she looked around.
She spotted Setsu further down the hallway leaning against the wall. She took a deep breath and let out all of her apprehension as she approached what she thought would be a ticking time bomb.
"The president says you left this last time you were here." She handed the woman the music device, Setsu simply looked at the item in Kanae's hand before taking it from her.
"Thanks." was her unenthusiastic reply as she pocketed it.
Kanae just stood against the opposite wall wondering what she was supposed to say at this point. It seemed Setsu was not in a talkative mood at all. The swift exhale of English words which Kanae knew Sayuri would have scolded or even washed her mouth out with soap for seemed to prove this point.
"What the hell was the old git thinking!" Setsu exclaimed again as she slammed her foot into the wall behind her. But this time the object of her frustration wasn't so lucky as the three inch heel imbedded itself into the plaster.
Yes she would definitely be using lots of soap. Kanae thought at the word she knew was not used in polite society.
"How about we go get a drink?" Kanae asked after helping Setsu pull her heel out.
Kanae thought of how she would normally have calmed Kyoko down if it had been her here in this moment. Though Setsu was an entirely different species to her best friend, she just needed to do something other than wait for the ticking bomb which was Setsuka Heel. Setsu simply nodded looking back at the hole she had punched through the wall with a look Kanae could read.
"Don't worry no one will notice as as soon as I return to Love Me tasks I'll get it sorted." Kanae didn't even know why she was trying to reassure the woman, but as Setsu had looked at the hole she knew she was feeling sorry for her actions. She's not a bad person after all Kanae considered as they made their way towards the lifts in silence.
If she had only known about the complete and utter breakdown going on in Setsu's head in that moment as Mogami Kyoko berated and destroyed herself for not only her actions but her words Kanae might have even laughed at the situation.
Chiori looked across at the group of actors and actresses before her. Riona had brought her to the refreshments area but then been dragged away by a stagehand who said they had a last minute costume change for her. She had apologised profusely to Chiori who had just smiled and said it was fine and it really was. It was difficult to watch the people around her when she was interested in what Riona had been telling her about the film and the production itself.
Chiori smiled at the bottle of water the kind older woman had passed her. The woman had smiled and nodded politely when she had asked for one for her charge as well.
"How is his sister deary?" The kind woman asked as Chiori thanked her for the second bottle. "She was always polite enough, even if she wasn't very social." Chiori smiled at her slow and thoughtful wording of Setsu.
"She's better thank you, I saw her this morning and the swelling from the attack has almost completely subsided." Smiling the lady turned to offer a drink to the man who had just approached the table.
"Well it's not like they don't deserve what they get now is it?" the cold voice spoke out beside her.
She turned to face the man who held so much venom in his voice. "Excuse me?" Chiori asked, not sure she had heard him right as the lady stalled in handing over the soda she had been passing the young man.
"Well it's not exactly like they didn't expect it, is it? After such a disgusting display." Chiori half wanted to speak out against the man before her but she needed information. His face was one she was sure was on the further investigation list.
"Well it all depends on whether this is all just rumor mongering or someone making an unfunny joke." she stated allowing a little doubt to filter out in her words as she slipped back into the character of a happy go lucky newbie actress.
It seemed to work as the tall man turned to her with a very self-assured smile. "See you just haven't been here or around those psychopathic siblings like we all have. It's a shame really that the guy who attacked the little whore missed him too. Did you know that they came in one morning and he was covered in love bites? Now you tell me it wasn't his 'darling' little sister who put them there?"
Chiori stayed silent, shuffling a little as if uncomfortable. She looked at the woman behind the table who was looking anywhere but at the man before her.
"And tell me why, when after that man tried to kill me, that said woman ran to her 'brother' and started taking pictures of his make-up? I tell you that those two really are neurotic and I would advise you to stay as far away from the pair of them as possible... They're heading for deep trouble both of them and I say good riddance if you ask me."
Chiori wasn't sure if Christmas had just come early or if this was just too good to be true as the man stood there before her. He was so confident in his words. His cocksure attitude as if he was certain of the siblings unhappy demise made her wonder just how thick this guy really was. If he had been the one to initiate the trouble or if he just didn't expect any kind of rebuke from the type of girl she was trying to impersonate.
"Oh like you could ever keep your eyes off Setsuka-san Murasame? It's not like you did not have to be warned away countless times trying to chat up the young woman?" Riona had returned and it seemed she had returned with vengeance as she stared down the younger man.
"Come on Rio, you know it as well as me that the pair of them are psychos! Hell you were there! What did I do to bring on him trying to kill me?"
Riona cocked her hip and just scowled at him. "You were constantly on at Heel-san! You called him unprofessional and asked if he really was an actor and not just really BJ come back from the dead. You mocked his sister in front of the man knowing that they have a close relationship and he is very overprotective of her. You complained almost continuously... need I go on? Yes I do not condone what he did that day Murasame, but I also do not think that you are completely innocent."
Murasame just huffed, tossing the can into the trash can beside the table he strode past Riona. "I'm outta here." he spat as he passed her without even a backwards glance.
And even though Chiori was glad that someone had stuck up for the Heel's she wondered if now the man she knew to be Murasame would be willing to speak so openly before her. This was definitely one for Kanae she decided as she mentally logged all that had been said in their conversation. Being an actress and memorising scripts had many helpful uses Chiori thought as she smiled politely at the lady behind the table again and then at Riona.
"Thanks. I wasn't sure what to do in that situation." and though it was completely untrue, Chiori would have happily smacked the guy and been done with it.
Riona seemed happy with her reply. "Ahh dont worry about it. Murasame... well let's just say he thinks of himself as a hotshot and Heel-san has knocked around his body and his ego...a lot." Riona smiled kindly at her and Chiori couldn't help but return it.
"Kotonami-san!" the receptionist called out as the two girls passed the front desk heading through the lobby towards L. . Kanae turned and approached the counter.
"Yes?" the receptionist who had called her smiled as the second simply looked Setsu over.
"The president just called saying if you get a chance can you speak to Sawara-san. It's important."
Kanae simply nodded her head at the message before turning away from the two women who were both looking at her, then Setsu and then each other. Kanae was really getting annoyed with the treatment of the woman beside her. How Setsu remained so nonchalant about it all was beyond her.
"I just need to see what this is all about, would you mind just waiting here for a minute? Or do you want me to walk you to the cafe first?" Kanae asked thinking at the last minute if it was really safe to leave Setsu so close to the front doors and her escape towards her brother.
"I'm not going anywhere. You never know if I disobey them now they just might ask you to play Nii-san's fake woman." Kanae hid the tingling on her neck well as all the hairs stood on end at the tone in Setsu's voice.
"Alright then I'm sure it won't take long." Turning from the young woman she scowled at the now whispering receptionists as they threw Setsu curious glances.
"I'm sure you're paid to stand there and gossip!" she snapped as they both looked a little guilty before they turned their eyes away from the young actress they knew to be part of the president's own section.
Kyoko smiled inside at Kanae's simple kind act towards the girl who had been anything but friendly towards her. But this was her best friend the girl who shied away from people to fully pursue her dream of becoming a world famous actress. The girl who worked harder than anyone she knew apart from maybe Ren. But she was also the girl who would go out and eat ice cream with her when she needed cheering up, would sit with her and talk about her problems. She was the girl Kyoko loved unconditionally.
Kyoko had calmed down a little walking with Kanae. Her Setsu character had shifted slightly as Kyoko tried to just think of herself and her best friend being at work, walking together and sharing the comfortable silence that they had grown used to. But there were still the whispers, the pointed stares and fingers. Kyoko had struggled to maintain Setsu's outward appearance as she had cried inside for people to not believe the rumours or the lies that had been spread. But then she had left a lasting 'kiss' on Cain's neck... She had nearly stripped the man of his clothing.
Even the most simple thoughts of this had almost sent Kyoko over the edge of her own emotional insanity as she now quickly retreated inside of Setsu. Leaning against one of the pillars Setsu wondered just how long Kanae would be? Slipping into her normal pose, she lifted her foot to rest it against the marble behind her. The pulling in her trousers reminded her of the music player Kanae had passed her that the president said was hers.
Kyoko had never been one for such things but she had used Chiori's at a time she had needed to listen to some music for Box-R. So pulling the device out of her pocket Setsu unwrapped the headphones. Popping the buds in her ears she unlocked the device and looked at the screen. On the front screen was a small file called 'Read me.' She tapped and waited for the program to open up.
Music is a good emotional release Setsu,
I've taken the liberty of adding some music I think you will enjoy.
Keep up the good work,
Boss.
Setsu allowed a sexy little smirk to grace her lips as Kyoko settled a little after her disturbing thoughts. She had people who cared... people who were there to help her through this. She just hoped that the boss had been clever enough not to add the baka to the playlist. Tapping on the music folder she pressed play all and closed her eyes as the music started. It was fast, slightly heavy and very Setsu Kyoko decided as she leaned her head back against the pillar to listen to the unfamiliar English lyrics.
Where had she gone? It was almost like the girl had disappeared off the face of the earth! All of his requests had been sent back as denied. His phone calls had been met with her unavailable message. Hell he had even gone to the trouble of showing up at her set for that blasted drama she was part of only to be told that Natsu was on a break for family matters! She didn't have a family! Hell if that girl had been stupid enough to even go near that woman that called herself her mother Sho was sure she was not on a temporary break. That woman would never allow her to come back!
Sho half wondered if perhaps she had gone back to see his parents? But it wasn't like he could just call them after two years of silence just to check up on the girl he was supposed to be with now was it? God if she told his parents what he had done to her, Sho wouldn't have been shocked if his father wouldn't turn up just to tan his hide! They loved Kyoko like the daughter they had never been able to have... Hell Sho half thought they loved her more than they loved him. She was interested in the Inn after all and had done all she could to show how devoted she was...Even if her devotion had been for him, they would never blame Kyoko for running away but they would certainly blame him for taking her.
Sho sighed, this was his last hope. Walking through the automatic doors into the very grand lobby he wondered why he had not tried LME before. He had gone to certainly seemed a very grand place, even if it didn't really fit his image. Then he remembered why. Of course it was because he was there. Sho smiled to himself as he thought about the video he had saved in his phone to watch when he felt down. The video of the great Tsuruga Ren being taken to the hospital because he was sick. Oh boo hoo what a shame. Sho had been smiling for almost 2 days after that incident. But that was before he considered the fact that Kyoko's family business could have included the platform wearing pinheaded actor she looked up to so much...
No! It wouldn't be him! Kyoko had said herself if she let herself fall under that useless emotion of love again she would go back to Kyoto. She'd go back to his family's Inn and stay there. Sho half hoped she would well and truly be his again. The girl he had let get away, but would never allow another to have... His Kyoko, because that's what she was... She was his.
Sho smirked happily as he strode through the lobby. There was whispering all around him. Probably talking about how wonderful I am the presumptuous singer thought as he walked towards the receptionists. But it was just before he passed the middle of the room that he realised the attention was not focused on him at all.
"What do you think she is doing here?" one of the seated women asked her friend next to her.
"No idea, but she does stand out doesn't she?" the other woman replied as their eyes turned towards the woman leaning against the final pillar in the line.
Sho needed no introduction to the woman standing there before him. He had seen her enough on TV in the past few days to know her name almost as well as he knew Kyoko's. Setsuka Heel stood before him a goddess clad in leather if he had ever seen one. Here is my chance to show that Kyoko just how much better than her I am, Sho thought as he changed his course towards the woman. He would show Kyoko just how much of a man he was, when he stole this woman from no man other than her brother.
Setsu had listened to the first song four times now. She had to admit she really liked it as she sang along to the catchy tune that fit her current situation.
" Where are the people that accused me? The ones who beat me down and bruised me. They hide just out of sight, Can't face me in the light, They'll return but I'll be stronger." she sang to herself softly as her toe tapped against the marble.
She could feel the eyes on her all around the room, almost like they were trying to burn holes through her very skin, undress her and make her tell them all her secrets. But Setsu wasn't the type to care as she stood there in her own little world thinking not only of the lyrics but her Nii-san.
It was the brush of the changing air current that alerted her to the presence. The person was too tall to be Kanae. Keeping her eyes closed she continued to sing along with the music hoping they would get the hint and bugger off.
"God, I want to dream again. Take me where I've never been. I want to go there. This time I'm not scared. Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable. No one can touch me. Nothing can stop me." she sang still to herself. But still the person who was now blocking the pointed gazes of the others stood watching her. Finally Setsu opened her eyes and Kyoko cried out inside. Before her stood Fuwa Sho and she knew that look in his eyes. That smile on his face, Kyoko knew that he was going to try and be something he could never be. Sho was nowhere even close to her Nii-san.
