When they arrived at the outdoor shoot they had not expected the director to come running over to apologise profusely to Lory, who thought he was there because he had heard about the accident with Chiori and the trundle cart. But as Lory became concerned for his Love Me number three the director was then forced to explain about what had happened. How the safety cable bolt had sheared off and the events that followed after that. Kanae simply wondered just what a dangerous job she and Chiori had gotten themselves into?
It was like magic. Setsu was there one moment and the next she was gone. Lory continued asking Director Konoe about the incident as Sebastian took down information in a small notepad. Calvin was off and looking for his son. Well that's what Kanae gathered from his grumbled words. As he stalked off Sayuri sighed.
"Well come on Kanae-san let's go and see if Chiori-san is OK." Kanae simply nodded as she followed the beautiful older woman.
Kanae watched the reaction to the older woman compared to her daughter's, which she had been seeing all day. There was still pointing and whispers, but this time there was a completely different feeling behind it. With Setsu the feeling had been one of rumour and ill content, but with Sayuri it was more curiosity and appreciation of the beautiful woman before them.
"What about my Nii-san! What would have happened if it had been him! Did you even think? Did you even consider?" They could hear the shouting before they had even entered the first aid tent. Luckily they were still far enough away from the public areas that it didn't cause a scene. As Sayuri walked in Setsu stormed out. Sayuri again was sighing, but Kanae was shocked by the small smile on her face...
"Chiori-san, how are you feeling?" Sayuri asked the stunned girl sitting before them. She was holding a bottle of water and Kanae was glad to see no obvious injuries or bruises.
"I'm fine thank you Sayuri-san... But I'm sorry it seems I've upset Setsu-san." Chiori looked rather upset at that thought.
Probably thinking she has messed up our plans, Kanae thought reading Chiori as Sayuri just smiled and shook her head.
"Don't worry about Setsu. She wasn't really angry with you."
Kanae and Chiori both looked at her confused. "She surely sounded angry." Kanae decided to comment as Chiori nodded.
"Yeah and she looked angry, trust me." Chiori added in.
Sayuri sat down next to Chiori putting her arm around the young woman seated on the first aid bed.
"You know Setsu came straight here as soon as she heard about the accident." she said slowly.
"Yeah to shout at me for not caring for Heel-san correctly." Chiori added as Kanae started to see exactly what Sayuri was getting at.
She shook her head slowly. "She was worried!" Kanae suddenly blurted out as Sayuri smiled and nodded again.
"Yes, she was worried about you Chiori-san. If Setsu didn't care she would not have come and shouted at you, she would have gone straight to Cain and checked that he was OK first. But the fact that she came to you first was just her way of confirming you were OK. Setsu may seem like she was angry, but I assure you she was more than likely relieved to see you unharmed... It's just Setsu, well she doesn't show her feelings very well to people other than her family."
Kanae was shocked by how right Sayuri was. She knew her daughter well, probably better than anyone other than perhaps Cain. They seemed just to have that mental link with the girl none could cross.
"Now how about we go and find my husband before he beats Cain up for not protecting you correctly? We should grab Setsu too before she smacks her oya-baka father for being nasty to Cain. God I love my family, but even I have to admit there isn't a sane one in the entire bunch."
Kanae and Chiori wanted to laugh , but worried about upsetting the nice woman that always seemed so kind.
"You're not insane, Sayuri-san!" Chiori stated simply as the older woman really did laugh.
"Think about who I agreed to marry and then tell me that again." Chiori and Kanae could not miss the laughter in her voice or her eyes as they both laughed. She did have a point after all.
"First Setsu and now Chiori-san! Are you a man or not! You have been taught to look after women Cain and here we have two separate occasions in which you have failed!"
The entire cast, crew, director and Lory all looked on as Calvin berated his large son. His large movements and scolding voice showed just how upset the man was even if he did not shout. The entire audience was shocked as Cain stood there and took the berating with no questions asked and no comment at all. But as Calvin continued Cain's head dropped slightly and Riona, who had been coming to find Cain to tell him that both Chiori and Murasame were fine, was upset to see that Cain looked guilty.
"OYA-BAKA!" This time it was a shout.
Upon turning people saw Setsuka Heel stalk through the crowd. Standing tall in the splendour of her new, well-contoured clothes, the male population as always were ready to drop to their knees and bow down before the leather clad goddess. Both Cain and Calvin were ready to growl at the men surrounding their daughter/sister.
"This. Was. Not. Cain's. Fault." Setsu said making sure each word was slow and controlled.
"But Setsu poppet. He really..." The look Setsu gave him was what shut him up instantly, so Calvin decided to take a different approach.
"I don't see it that way with your attack and then Chiori's accident today. Then also that Fuwa person I really think that you should come home Setsu."
It was in the way Cain's eyes snapped to Setsu as she faked nonchalance. For Sayuri, Chiori and Kanae who had just arrived on scene the atmosphere was one a knife could cut as Cain spoke slowly aiming his words entirely at Setsu.
"Who the hell is Fuwa and what the hell is going on Setsu?" For the non- English speaking members in the audience, just the name Fuwa meant something. What were they talking about? Setsu had called the man shouting at Cain stupid parent! Was this their father? There had been rumours of course that the family had turned up to take the children home or to protect them. But this man had been shouting something at Cain about Setsu and that new girl Chiori... What was going on?
"Nothing Nii-san. Just a boy that wanted to play with me since Nii-san doesn't want me around."
Kanae sucked a breath in sharply as she saw the pain in Cain's eyes at his sister's words. Setsu knew she was hurting Cain... and Kanae new she was doing it on purpose.
"This is not going to end well." Kanae muttered as Sayuri sighed heavily.
"No but it is safer to just let them bash it out between themselves. In some ways seeing the two at odds may change people's minds about this amazing relationship people seem to think they have... it will be more like they're siblings if you think about it."
Kanae could understand her thoughts but she also worried about the look in Cain's eyes. He was getting angry.
"Setsu." The growl was low and terrifying as even Calvin seemed to step away from Cain, who was now almost glowing with rage.
Yet Setsu didn't even seem to move as she stood with her arms crossed across her chest and simply looked away from the man who was trying to intimidate her. Inside Kyoko was shivering under the anger of the man. She had wanted to just tell him to get it over and done with, but Setsu had other ideas. Cain had hurt her. Cain had made her cry and now it was time for him to understand.
Cain wasn't in a waiting mood. Neither was Ren or Kuon. When Fuwa's name had been mentioned it had been like an immediate call to arms. The anger that filled his body simply thinking about that... prick being near his sister, near Kyoko. Then here was his darling little sister denying him the reason to kill the prick. Cain strode forwards. He grabbed Setsu's wrist as he did so and yanked her arms apart so her whole body faced him.
"What happened Setsu!" he demanded. Neither his look nor his voice gave any room for avoidance as the surrounding people held their breath. It was almost like a soap opera.
"Like I said, someone actually wanted to play with me. After you left me I had to take matters into my own hands to discourage him."
If you were touching Setsu as Cain was or if you really looked hard at the small woman facing off against the larger man you could see it. Setsu's entire body had started to shake. As the fear and adrenaline from the situation left her body, she had held onto the fear for so long that now Kyoko was unable to keep it out of Setsu. It was overwhelming all of her barriers. Suddenly the three minds in the one body realised just how much control he had lost. Releasing Setsu's wrist he grabbed her shoulders instead bringing her into his chest.
"Or maybe not," Sayuri said with a small smile.
But to be honest Kanae was just glad that they were not going to become as passionate as they had that morning.
"I'm so sorry Setsu... are you ok? He didn't hurt you did he?" Cain asked softly as he folded the girl in his arms. He felt her body shake in the repressed fear he had been unable to see through his own hate of the name and his own jealousy.
"He tried to grab me." Setsu's words were muffled in Cain's chest but he heard her and tightened his grip. "So I tossed him over my hip like you taught me."
At Setsu's words and the feel of the small woman safe in his arms Cain couldn't help it, he just had to laugh. "You tossed him?" he asked laughing still. It had an adverse effect. The women around them for the first time, just like Manaka, saw a kind and loving man. They also had to admit he had a nice laugh.
"Yeah and Mom slapped him."
He could feel the shaking stop now and feel her smile as Cain laughed a little louder. "I think Dad would have kicked his ass, but Boss thought it would be better if he stayed out of it." Cain nodded as he smiled at his mom, who simply shrugged.
Setsu pushed away from her brother as he let her go. "I hope you thanked Murasame-san." She said with her hands on her hips, finally controlling the inner Kyoko as Cain regained his uncaring gaze to look at the man his sister was talking about.
"I did." His words were simple but Setsu nodded before turning away.
"You had better get back to shooting Nii-san." and with that Setsu was beside the beautiful woman.
"Dad there's not much they can do if you're standing there." Calvin suddenly realised just what he had done by walking onto the set when he had. Had they been filming a scene? Had he just done something that no actor should ever do? He looked around with a worried expression as the Director simply smiled.
"You're fine Heel-san. We were just preparing a shot when I heard of your arrival. They were awaiting my return." Calvin smiled and nodded before bowing to the surrounding people. He slipped into what sounded like very broken Japanese.
"I apologise."Calvin walked off the scene to his wife, daughter and the two waiting Love Me girls as Lory chuckled.
"Mind if we wait and watch the filming?" Konoe was perfectly happy for them to do so. For the rest of the afternoon Setsu was seen with her brother as always looking after him. But every now and then people would see Cain chuckle as he commented on something to Setsu who would just smack him and tell him to get on with his work.
Murasame had watched the scene between the family
He had been happy when the man had been shouting at Cain, but unhappy when he had taken Setsu in his arms. Surely with everything going on they would refrain from such public display. He was leaning against one of the trucks with a warm drink in his hand when the man who he now knew to be the Heels father approached him.
"Thank you for what you did for Chiori-chan." he said in very slow Japanese. Murasame was shocked Chiori herself had already came and thanked him and so had Cain begrudgingly.
"You're welcome She's a lady after all so I feel it's a man's job."
Calvin nodded happily as he held out his hand for the man. Murasame shook it politely. "Calvin Heel."
Murasame replied with his own name and couldn't help but smile when the man smiled back. How could Cain Heel come from a family like this? It was almost too unbelievable... As for Setsu she fit , but Cain? Well he seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. They spoke for a few more minutes about trivial things. How the filming was going as well as his role. But when Calvin walked off to join his amazingly beautiful wife and daughter Murasame couldn't help but wonder how Cain fit in with them?
"It's amazing isnt it?" one of the cameraman asked Murasame as he unpacked one of the motion cameras.
Murasame turned and looked down at Yoji Shen. He had been the man who had first realised they would need another method other than a mat when Cain had suspended him on top of the scene prop.
"What is it Shen?" he asked as the small man looked up at him.
Shen smiled. "Well I couldn't help but notice how normal the Heel seniors seem in comparison to their children."
Murasame nodded. "What I don't get is how much Setsuka seems to fit in with the family. I can imagine them back in England together. But Cain? Well Cain just seems odd."
Shen nodded. "It wouldn't surprise me at all if Cain wasn't blood related." He walked off carrying the camera towards where the next scene would be shot, leaving Murasame to ponder over his words.
No it really wouldn't be surprising.
Setsu watched as they shot the final scene of the day. Her parents and Lory were chatting. They were close to the public barrier now and although Setsu had seemed so unconcerned all day, as they got closer to the public Kanae could see the girl's nerves building. It was the way she would look out of the corner of her eye at any loud noise. Her posture was completely controlled and relaxed, but her eyes gave away her nerves.
It wasn't only Setsu who seemed nervous by the closeness of the crowd. Chiori who had been watching Cain noticed how his acting differed from this morning and she knew the reason.
She turned to Kanae, "I think we should either stand near Setsu or ask her to come and stand by us. I'm not sure who is the more nervous of the two , Cain or Setsu."
Kanae nodded as one the girls walked across to the girl who was standing as close as possible to the scene without interrupting. It was almost like she had just been surrounded by a human shield. Kanae on her left was closest to the barrier. Chiori was on her right next to the camera.
Kanae watched as the slight tension she had noticed in Setsu's shoulders slowly released. After one look over at him, they could see Cain's performance became as it had been that morning. Both girls smiled inside. This was something that didn't need words. It was a simple showing of support to the girl and her brother a simple showing to the people outside the barrier that the Heel siblings were not as alone as they had been in this country a world away from where they normally would be.
Lory who had watched everything smiled, "They're good girls those two," Sayuri commented. She too had noticed the shielding wall.
"I'm actually rather impressed by Kyoko. I thought for sure she would have broken character. She really is an amazing actress," Lory said in quiet words. He would not speak much of it and they would never know who was around them. But Sebastian was in the shadows and Lory knew there would be no man, woman or device near them with Sebastian there.
"Well she's my little girl. Of course she is amazing!" Calvin said loudly in English as Sayuri smiled apologetically to one of the crew girls standing off to the right. She had jumped a mile even though she was a good few meters away. She watched as Setsu turned around and just scowled at her overly doting father, before shaking her head and using her new favourite word for her father to the two girls who seemed to laugh at it.
Oya-baka. Sayuri chuckled to herself. Calvin really was.
Some of the greatest friendships start in the oddest ways!
take me and Faith for example... she slapped me XD
someone mentioned that this story seems to move slowly,
but I think that this story needs to move at this slower speed.
We will be seeing moments of loveliness between Setsu and Cain soon,
but I need to show you so much more for the story to make sense in the end :)
