Thanks for the few new followers! Enjoy :) And also, I don't own any of these characters besides the ones I made up :)
"Chocolate or vanilla?" Colter asked. Him and I were talking on the phone as I laid on my bed. "Chocolate! You?" I asked him back. "Same. Vanilla is too plain for me." He said. "Skittles or Starbursts?" I asked. "Skittles." He responded immediately. "I like Starbursts more but I liked Lemonheads better." I stated.
"Hmm, I'll keep that in mind." He said mischievously. I let a giggle slip out. "What are your favorite flowers?" He asked. "Uhm, I'm not really good with names of flowers but ones that look tropical. Or have a tropical color scheme going. Like pinks, oranges, and yellows." I answered truthfully.
"Perfect. So how about a date Saturday night?" He asked me. I'm pretty sure I just stopped breathing. "Ye-Yes!" I stuttered out. "Wow, I think someones excited, haha. Don't worry, I am too. Wear something dressy, like a dress or skirt. You'll see why. I'll see you Saturday night, okay?" "Okay." Was all I could muster up. He chuckled, sensing my excitement. "Bye, Giselle." "Bye, Colter." I squeaked out.
I grabbed my pillow and screamed into it. I had a smile on my face the whole entire time.
"Everything okay in there?" Olli asked from outside my 'door' which is a sheet since my door was ripped off its hinges. "Yes!" I squealed as I threw myself off my bed and started dancing. I pushed the sheet out of my way and started leaping down the hallway and throwing a couple pirouettes in here and there.
It's been a week since my fight with my brothers but thankfully we were all over that. I finally forgave them, but I was definitely ticked at them for the rest of the night.
I quickly made my way down the stairs, almost tripping over my own two feet. "Woah there speed racer." Nolan laughed as he prepared to catch me as I almost fell out of a pirouette but I caught myself.
I attempted to moonwalk into the kitchen but bumped into a chair at the kitchen table. "Honey, what on Earth are you doing?" My mother asked, looking at me.
"Nothing, nothing, nothing!" I sang as I slipped my jacket on and my gray ankle boots. I sprinted down to the beach shore and texted Cedar.
'Ced, he asked me on a date :D'
It's been about a week since Cedar and I have met and I swear he's me in guy form and I'm him in girl form.
'I'm so happy for you! But be cautious, you know how I feel towards him'
I mentally groaned and sat cross legged on the sand. Cedar's cousin goes to Forks and she says to have my guard up because she's heard mixed reviews on him.
'I promise I will! Or else I would text you to come and protect me ;)'
'That's what I thought! Even though I can barely bench the bar in gym but still I could hit him with my car or something lol'
'Oh my lord, I don't want you to paralyze him!'
'I'm just saying that I'm really weak and that might be my only line of defense!'
'What about a baseball bat? Those don't require strength to beat someone with it!'
'I guess. How about I bring my baseball with if you call me to come protect you because then depending on the severity of what he did to you, I can determine what weapon of choice I should use'
'I really hope no one besides us sees this conversation'
'Yeah we are talking about killing someone here lol'
'YOU are. I'm just providing you with options.'
'Fine, I'll take the blame for this one. But I have to go, stupid Chem homework has got my brain on overload. Bye, Gazelle ;)'
'I am not an animal from Africa! Asshole. Haha bye, Tree Bark ;)'
My conversations with him always made my day better and brought a smile to my face. He always knew how to make laugh.
I was pulled out of thoughts when something hit my back. Not hard, but enough to make my body sway even though I'm sitting down.
"Sorry, Ella!" Milo called as him, Kaiden, and Jonah came and sat down bye me. "Ow." I said with a really sad face and rubbed my back to try and make them feel bad.
"I really am sorry." Milo apologized about to come and rub my back. I waved him off with a laugh and said it barely hurt. I turned to see a soccer ball a couple feet away from me and I assumed that's what hit me.
"What are you up too?" Jonah asked while trying to make a hill of sand. "Getting fresh air and enjoying the weather before it starts to get really cold." I said as the wind started to pick up, whipping my hair in every direction.
"Are you going to the family party this Saturday night?" Kaiden asked, his shaggy hair getting in his face. He tried to blow it out of his face but failed.
"No, I'm busy that night. How long do they last?" I asked. "Usually late. Like 11 or 12." Jonah answered. "Oh perfect! I will be home in time!" I said excitedly. I knew my curfew would be 10 since I would be with a boy.
"Awesome, it gives you a chance to hang with all us guys." Milo said with a huge grin. "Ugh, just what I LOVE to do." I said with an eye roll.
"Oh don't be like that, you know we all enjoy having your company." Milo said with a laugh and I joined. "Well that makes one of us." Kaiden said quietly through his teeth and him and Jonah bursted out laughing. I scoffed and pretended like I was about to get up but they all started saying 'no' over and over again and pulled me back down to a sitting position.
"Nah, I'm just kidding with you. You're a pretty cool gal." Kaiden confessed. That made me blush and they were all about to make fun of me for it when we could hear wolves howling very loudly from about a mile or a few away.
All the boys shot each other a look and got up quickly. "Is everything alright?" I asked, worried. "Yeah, everything great. Just- we have to go but stay away from the woods. Wolves can be dangerous." Milo said while jogging away but facing me. I gave them a confused look but no one was looking at me. They were heading up the beach and piled into Milo's rusty and old little car and they sped off.
I started playing with the sand when my dad called me for. "Giselle! Come inside the house please!" I groaned loudly and started to make my way up the beach.
"Why?" I whined like a five-year-old to when I came up the steps. "It's gonna start raining out, I don't want you to get sick." He said. I looked to the sky and though it wasn't sunny out, the clouds didn't look dark so it confused me but I didn't want to make my dad at me again.
I bent over to slip my shoes off and nearly losing my balance in the process, my dad having to catch me. "Is being spastic and side affect to anxiety?" EJ said while laughing at me. I spat my tongue out at him.
I spent the rest of the afternoon painting my nails, doing homework, and texting Colter. I couldn't wait for our date, but I also remembered I'm 'grounded' but my mom's a push over so not too worried asking for her to let me.
"Hey, Mom! Can I get a door like Ellie's?" Nolan called to our mom as he passed my room to probably go downstairs. "Sorry, only worthy people deserve sheets as doors. It's a right of passage, honestly." I yelled, hoping Nolan heard me.
"Yeah, for poor people." Olli scoffed from the living room downstairs. "Or people whose brothers broke down their door." I smartly remarked back. "You left us no choice!" Olli argued back. I really didn't want to start a fight so I didn't respond back.
The rest of the day went by quickly and I fell asleep around 9:30 p.m.
My dream that night was confusing. From what I remember of it, I watched from the corner of the room, as if I were a ghost because no one noticed me. Not the crying little girl under the table where her brother tried to quiet her or two people fighting loudly, who looked like the kids parents. The fear that the little girl was feeling, I felt. Her brother kept trying to get her to come out so they could leave the room. The only words I remember from the dream is the little boy saying 'Cleona' as he tugged on her to get her to follow him.
I woke up, panting heavily. The dream felt real. I have no idea who Cleona is but despite it's unusualness, I've heard the name before. I have no idea where, but I've heard it. I hate having vivid dreams like this. I flipped my covers off, pulled on some fuzzy socks because the temperature in this house felt like it was negative 5,000, and made my way out to the hallway. I tried to go on the sides of each stair step to decrease the creaking because it seemed like everyone in this else besides me was a light sleeper. Godzilla could attack this house and I would still be asleep.
I opened the fridge and took out a water bottle. I glanced at the stove clock, which read 2:12 a.m. With a heavy sigh, I sat down at the kitchen table. School was definitely going to drag on for a long time tomorrow. I started picking at my nails, a really bad nervous habit of mine. After an hour of just sitting at the table and thinking about the dream, I climbed back up the stairs. As I headed to my room, I noticed that EJ's door was open. I walked to his room, which was the room at the end of the hallway.
I peeked my head into his room and sure enough he wasn't there. I walked in and noticed his phone on his desk. EJ never left without his phone. I pressed the center button, which lit up the screen. His background was of him and Preston, both sporting the trend of doing the peace sign with duck lips. I smiled to myself and opened his messages to see if his messages held any information about his whereabouts.
His messages show his last chat was with Zeke who said he had patrol from 12 to 4 tonight. Patrol? Like a security guard? Probably another one of the family secrets I couldn't know. I decided I wouldn't push the subject tomorrow so I went back to my own room.
I climbed back into bed and probably laid there for about 45 minutes before I finally drifted back into sleep.
I woke up at 7:35 and I literally screamed. We leave for school everyday at 7:30 and I usually get up at 6 a.m.
I jumped out of bed and threw my pajamas off, grabbed some yoga pants, a t-shirt that I got from when I was on my school's cross country team last. It's one of those shirts that has the schools name on the front with the sports name under it and on the back it has your last name. I piled my very messy hair into a bun on the top of my head and quickly started brushing my teeth as I ran downstairs.
"Mom!" I screeched as I saw her flipping a pancake and my dad sitting at the table, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. "Good morning, princess." My dad said while sipping on his coffee.
I still was brushing my teeth so with a mouthful of toothpaste foam, I asked her why no one woke me up. "Your father and I heard you up last night so thought you wouldn't mind sleeping." She said while putting the pancake on a plate and handing it to my dad. I spit out the excessive toothpaste and rinsed my mouth out with water.
"So am I taking the Jeep to school?" My parents looked directly at each other when I asked. Two months before we moved here, I got into an accident with our previous Jeep. It's a lot like my Uncle Emmett's Jeep so it's huge but when I slipped on black ice and smashed into a tree, the impact wasn't awful since the cars so big but I did end up getting sent to the hospital because I cracked my head open against the steering wheel and passed out.
To say the least, my family doesn't like me driving. "Please let me drive myself, it's not winter and I promise to be super careful." I literally begged on my knees. "I don't know, Giselle." My dad to me and looked at my mom. "Please, please, please let me drive myself to school. One of the boys cam drive it home after school." I said with my best pouty lip. I'm a daddy's girl so getting what I want isn't that hard.
"Fine." My dad said and I started doing a happy dance. "But-" I immediately stopped dancing. "One the boys has to drive it home from school. Got it?" "Yes, daddy!" I cheered and went over to kiss his cheek and I ran over to my mom to give her a hug goodbye. I went into the mudroom and slipped on my turquoise Nike tennis shoes and grabbed my backpack and out the door I went.
The Jeep was parked next to my dad's work shed and I opened the driver door and literally had to climb in. This car is HUGE. I started the Jeep and turned the heat on full blast. I back the car out and on to school I went. I kind of lied to my parents when I said I would go slow. I was doing 75 down the back roads because I literally had 15 minutes to get to class.
I pulled into the parking lot fast and pulled into the nearest parking stall. My park job was crooked, but I didn't care at this point. I had eight minutes to get to class so I jogged in the front doors right as the warning bell rang.
Mrs. Gunther's classroom was located upstairs and with five minutes to make it to class, I knew I didn't have to rush. I took my time weaving through the hallways to find one the four staircases that lead to the upper level when I ran into Porter.
Porter and I were the closest out of all my cousins. "Hey, Antelope." He greeted while planting a kiss on my forehead. I scowled in return and he just laughed.
"Well Jonah called me Moosey the other day so Antelope isn't all that bad." I said. "Moosey. Hmm, I like it." Porter said while pretending to contemplate which nickname he liked better.
"Poppy's pretty cute too." I said and snorted. "Did you just snort?!" Porter loudly stated. I giggling and hid my face in my hands because I knew my face was most likely bright red.
"I'm not letting this one down." Porter said with a wink as he turned into his class which was right before the staircase. I climbed the stairs and went down the hallway a bit and entered Mrs. Gunther's classroom with two minutes until eight o'clock.
Caitlynn narrowed her eyes at me and I pretended to ignore her. I took my seat in the back and Talia was smirking at me. "What?" I innocently said.
"Why won't you be at the bonfire Saturday?" Talia giggled. For the second time today, I blushed. "Uhh.." I said which immediately gave it away. "You have a date!" Talia literally yelled and I knew everyone turned to stare at us and immediately shushed her as she started squealing.
"Do the boys know?" I asked quietly. "No, they assumed you were going out with Cedar or something. They would freak if they knew you were going on a date!" Talia said. "Yes, exactly! That's why I kept my mouth shut. What would they do if they found out?" I asked.
"Never let you go out on another date ever again. So...who's this mystery boy?" Talia wiggled her eyebrows at me with a mischievous smile.
"His name is Colter Grangerson. He goes to Forks High." Right as I said his name, Talia face dropped. "What?" I asked nervously. "Lets just leave it at that the boys aren't exactly a fan of him." Talia whispered.
"Why?" "We play Forks High for non-conference games in football, basketball, and baseball and whenever the boys have played them, Colter is one of the guys they think is the cockiest and rude." Talia said and bit her lip while looking at me.
"Well, I have no idea if Colter and I will even work out, ya know? I barely know him." I said while pulling out my textbook and binder. "I promise not to tell them who you're going on a date with or that your going on a date in general so my lips are sealed." Talia flashed a smile at me.
Class started a couple minutes later and I couldn't stop thinking about the possible dilemma that could arise in the near future. Colter seemed so sweet and nice, I can't see him being rude. But I shouldn't completely base my feelings of him of what others say, I need to get to know him myself.
I snapped out of my thoughts when the bell rang, and I packed up my materials and went up to the library where I knew Cedar would be.
"Cedar, I need your help." I sighed as I took a seat next to him at one of library's tables. "What's up, Gazelle?" He asked, turning away from his cell phone and towards me.
"I heard that my cousins don't really like Colter. Like, at all." I sighed. "Wait, they know you're going on a date?" He asked loudly and excitedly. I shushed him like I shushed Talia.
"No! That's why I'm worried if they find out because I don't want them being a jerk to him if I bring him over to meet my family. What do I do?!" I whisper-shrieked. "You need to calm down first, that's for sure," I shot him a look. "Someone sure is sassy today BUT tell your mom because if you lie to her and she finds out you went on a date, then you will be a worse situation then you are right now. If your mom understands, she will most likely not say anything to your family until you are ready to tell your family." Cedar suggested.
"Wow, I like your thinking!" I praised him. "I know, us gay boys are more resourceful than straight guys." He said with a wink and I just laughed at his comment.
The rest of the day flew by quickly, much to my liking.
As I was grabbing my books out of my locker, Kaleb approached me. "Hey, Kale." I greeted him. "Hey, Moosey." He said with a smirk. "Asshole." I mumbled. "What was that?" He asked, and I knew he heard what I said. "Nothing." I said sweetly while looking at him.
"So Oliver told me that someone needed to drive you home in the Jeep and I guess I was offered up. Is that alright?" He explained to me. "No." I said annoyed and he sighed. I slammed my locker shut and we both started walking towards the main entrance.
"Giselle, I know you feel its unfair that no one really has a lot of... trust in you right now. But how I view it is that the more you suck up to your parents and don't argue with the ridiculous punishments they give you, the quicker you gain all that trust back. Just trust me, I always get in trouble and I know all the tricks that work." Kaleb said.
"But they've nev-" Kaleb cut me off. "The problem that you have is that you don't know how to bite your tongue. Yes, you should always stick up for yourself but it gets to a point where its best just not to argue. I think not talking back to your parents is definitely going to get you to not have everyone going to keep a close eye on you."
I sighed, knowing that he was right. As much as I hated to admit it, I always had to put up my end of the fight, even if keeping quiet was the best option.
He got into the drive seat and I got into the passenger seat. "You're right." I sighed. "Wait, what? That's how easy it was to make you realize where I'm coming from? Dang I'm good at this stuff." He said, honestly impressed with himself. I just rolled my eyes at him.
"So I'm going to suck up to my parents and not talk back to them." I stated. "You'll see results in a couple weeks, I promise!" Kaleb assured me.
The rest of the ride home we just talked about school and how I feel about La Push. Once we arrived to our house, Kaleb came inside with to hang out with my brothers.
"So, Mom...I was asked on a date for Saturday night.." I said quietly, even though my family wasn't in the kitchen or the living room.
"WHAT?!" She yelled, very shocked but her face immediately broke out into a smile. "Mom, shh!" I said and brought my index fingers to my lips.
"Sorry, sorry!" She apologized. "So tell me the details!" She added excitedly, and turned around from chopping vegetables to talk to me.
"His name is Colter, he goes to Forks and he asked me on a date." I said simply. "Honey, why aren't you excited? This is your first date ever!" She whispered so my brothers wouldn't hear.
"Well, yeah, I'm excited I just don't want the boys to know or Dad. Definitely anyone but my brothers and Dad." I said with a shake of my head.
"Yeah, we'll keep this one from them for a while." My mother agreed with me and I mentally cheered. Thank you, Mom! "So you're missing the family bonfire?" She asked. "Only part, cause' I heard it goes late and the date shouldn't last past ten o'clock." I explained.
"Okay, I approve of it. But no later than ten! You're father will already be suspicious as it is so lets not push our luck." She warned me. "I promise!" I said while holding up my hand like the Boy Scout's did.
"So does this mean I'm not grounded...?" I asked, knowing I just took a chance by asking that question. "Well, I feel we overreacted on our part but that doesn't mean what you did was right." I sighed when she said that. "But," she continued "You're now on parole. You can go out with friends, but you do have an earlier curfew and you have to call once you arrive to wherever you're going and call right before you come home. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, yes, yes! Loud and clear!" I cheered while bouncing on my heels. "Don't slip up, and you're gonna be in the clear before you know it!" My mother said with a wink.
Suck on that, Kaleb! I didn't even have to suck up to my parents and they're already letting up my punishment. I danced all the way up to my room and went and sat at the computer desk in my room with my laptop on it.
I opened it up, and logged in to my account and then clicked the internet icon. My web browser showed up and I typed in the URL for Facebook.
I noticed I had a notification for message. Curious, I opened it up.
I literally almost had a heart attack when I saw who it was from.
Holy shit.
That's that chapter :) please review and provide constructive criticisms for me! Happy holidays, everyone!
