Giselle's POV
What shoes do I wear? How about a loose tank top with dark wash skinny jeans. No, no a loose sweater with leggings? Yeah, that could work. Do I flats that work with the top though? Good God this isn't going well.
With a loud sigh, I collapsed onto my bed. My damp hair sent chills down my back which reminded me I still had to blow dry it. I had about an hour and a half to get ready before I left for my date. I got up and started to blow dry my hair. I triple barreled it so my hair appeared wavy. I did a golden smokey eye for eye shadow with a thin black line from my liquid eyeliner over it. I put foundation on my nose and forehead, so they don't appear shiny.
I put on a pair of black leggings, with a mint green loose, quarter-sleeved length sweater. For shoes, I wore black flats with gold at the tip of them. I pinned the top half of my hair up and approved of my outfit in the mirror.
"Where are you going?" A voice from the door frame asked and I literally jumped and screamed a bit.
"Calm down, Spazzy." Porter laughed while walking across my room to sit on my bed.
"What are you doing here?" I gasped, breathing heavily.
"Hanging out with the guys before the huge family bonfire." Porter explained.
"Oh. Cedar and I are hanging out tonight but I'll be back later so I won't miss the whole bonfire." I lied about the being with Cedar part.
"Oh, awesome! Wouldn't be a family bonfire without everyone included." He said with a smile.
"I haven't even been to one yet so technically it won't be different without me!" I pointed out.
"It so will be! We all love you and you fit in perfectly." Porter said to me, watching me stare out the window.
"No matter how different you think you are from us, that doesn't matter. Who cares if you don't share the same skin color as the rest of us? Skin color doesn't define family." Porter said to me, which caused me to look right at him.
"It...It's not that. It's hard to explain." Don't keep lying to him.
"Then tell me, because I can tell you get quiet whenever it comes to our large family and fitting in." Porter demanded.
"I'm just really tired and confused right now about things going on. I've been having dreams and I want answers but it's not that easy to figure out." I half lied. The part about being tired is a lie but I am confused about my dreams.
"Oh, well do you want to talk about it?"
"No." I replied immediately and he seem taken aback by that.
"Sorry...I just don't really like bringing it up." I explained myself.
"No, don't worry about it. I'm always here for you, alright?" Porter assured me.
"Yes, I know." I said with a fake smile.
Porter went back downstairs and I logged into my computer. My desktop background was of Cedar and I, a few days after we met when we were in Lunch. He's doing the duck lips with a peace sign and my eyes are crossed.
I started to play some music and kept checking the clock in the top right corner. 6:33 p.m. I had 12 minutes until I planned on leaving for Colter's house.
I peeked out my window to see a pretty pink sunset. The bonfire wasn't directly behind our house, it was down towards the West end. About five of my cousins were setting up and others were playing soccer. I started playing a computer game when I realized it was time to leave. I grabbed my plain black Coach purse and slung it around my shoulders so it crossed my body and rested on my hips.
I kissed my mom goodbye and grabbed the car keys to the Jeep, even though my mom said to take her Malibu. Whoops, sorry Ma. I pulled out of our driveway and headed towards Forks. I tried to focus on the music to calm myself, but I was bouncing in my seat.
I arrived in Forks and headed towards the outskirts. Colter lived on a farm, I remembered him saying in one of our conversations. I pulled into a gravel driveway, that a pastor on the right side of the driveway and house on the left. I parked the farthest away from the house so I wouldn't be in the way of anyone going/leaving.
As I got out of my car, Colter came walking out the garage to greet me. We hugged, and he lead me into his house. His house is beautiful to say the least. Right when you walk in, you can either go straight and then there's the basement stairs or turn left and you're in the kitchen. The kitchen is open to the living room so those two rooms aren't separated. There's a hallway connected to living room/kitchen with a few rooms.
"Hey, Mom, this is Giselle." Colter motioned towards me and his mom immediately pulled me into a hug.
"Wow, she's a keeper, Colter." She complimented me as we pulled apart.
"Mom." Colter hissed at his mom in embarrassment. I just blushed in return.
"Who's she?" His little brother, who I'm guessing is in middle school, asked his brother.
"Dominic, this is Giselle." Colter introduced me to his brother.
"Hello." I gave a small wave.
"Ew, she's a girl!" Dominic complained and left the room. Their mother just rolled her eyes and said
"Sixth graders, I swear." and left the room.
"Ready to go?" He asked me and I nodded. I called out a goodbye to his mother and we left the house. I got into the passenger seat of his car, which seemed only two years old, and we left.
I watched the trees fly by as we headed towards town, and we talked the whole way to wherever we were going. We talked about anything, from our childhood, to our futures.
About a half an hour away from town, we arrived at Jefferson Cove. The sky was a light pink, since the sun was setting. I realized we were at an outdoor restaurant. They had two person tables set in an area on the beach. The tables weren't near each other but they weren't too spread apart either.
"Wow." I said, after taking in the beautiful scenery. Each table is white, with a centerpiece that had a glass filled halfway with glass pebbles and a pretty flower hanging over the side. A small round candle sat on the outside of the glass.
"This is amazing. How'd you find this?" I asked him.
"I took my ex-girlfriend here all the time." He admitted and I must have got a look on my face because he immediately tried to cover it up.
"I'm sorry, I have no idea why I said that. It's so beautiful here, that I wanted you to enjoy it."
Still a little shocked that he admitted that, I just acted like I wasn't bothered. We were seated towards the beach shore, and we both ordered our drinks. When our drinks came and we ordered our food, we took our opportunity off free time to walk alone the shore. I slipped off my flats and rolled my leggings up a bit. The water was freezing as I did expect it too, but still the sky made up for it.
"I'm sorry about what I said earlier, I get nervous and I say really stupid things." He apologized to me.
"Don't worry about it, I'm not offended." I said with an honest smile. My phone vibrated from my coat jacket, and I pulled it out. My lock screen previews my messages for me, and it was from my mom. I typed in my four number code so my phone would unlock.
'Hey Hon, Umm what time will you be home around?'
'Probably 9:30. Why?'
'No reason. Have fun :)'
That's a little odd. I told my mom earlier what time I would be home.
'Hey, Talia, is something wrong?'
'No why would you think that?'
'My mom sounded worried...are you sure?'
'Yeah totally. Gotta go, bye have fun! :)'
I hated when they kept secrets from me. I knew no matter who I asked, it would be the same answers as Talia's.
"Everything alright?" Colter asked me, sensing my irritation.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I played off, "Just confused by my family, like usual." I joked, but knew I was dead serious.
"Do you swim at the beach quite a bit?" Colter asked.
"Not really. The water is always freezing." I confessed.
"Yeah, besides the time I kno-" Colter got caught off by the crack of thunder.
"Shit." Colter cursed.
"What?" I asked.
"Whenever it storms, the cows always have to put away and tonight, it's only my mom and Dominic, since my dad is on a business trip and my older siblings are in college. They can't do it without my help." He said, irritated but upset.
"It's totally alright. Another night?" I suggested.
"Of course. I promise to make it up to you." Colter said sincerely. Colter paid our waiter for our drinks and we left.
We arrived back at his house, and I got into my car and left. Once I arrived home, I walked up to the front door to realize it was locked. Groaning and lightly smack my head against the door, I started rummaging through my purse for my keys. The car keys only had the key for the ignition. Coming up empty, I slid down against the door.
I called all four of my brothers but no one picked up. Not even my parents. Next I called Talia and she didn't answer either. About to give up, I called Kalia.
"Hey, girly! How's your date?" She asked as if nothing suspicious was going on. "Well, he needed to get home, so the date got cut short."
Kalia's POV
Devory, Erica, Talia, Bristol and I were sitting in Claire and Quil's living room along with Falone, Willow, Sophie, and April. Apparently, a vampire is on the loose in La Push so all of our boys are out there searching. All the parents are at Sam and Emily's, waiting to hear back from the boys. We're under strict orders to stay here.
My phone started to vibrate against the glass table some of our feet were resting on. Everyones head snapped towards me. "It's Giselle." I sighed, hoping it was one of the parents saying it was okay to leave the house now.
"Hey, girly! How's your date?" I tried to sound cheerful and calm. "Well, he needed to get home, so the date got cut short." She sighed. My heart literally stopped.
"Where are you?" I said, dead serious. "Um, I'm locked out of my house right now. I'll probably just got down to the beach. Where-" I dropped my phone and quickly said "Giselle's locked out of her house we need to go now!"
I jumped into the driver seat and Erica, Talia, Bristol and Devory got in. "The other girls are staying back." Bristol explained but I started backing out before anyone have their seatbelts on.
Please God, if you're up above, shine some light on us right now.
Giselle's POV
"Hello?" I repeated over into my phone, not hearing Kalia's voice anymore. I looked at the screen and saw that the call had ended. "Okay then." I said annoyed. Traveling down to the beach, a beautiful voice caught me off guard.
"Are you one of them?" I quickly turned around to meet red eyes. He's gorgeous nonetheless, extremely pale, tall, brown hair styled like back in the 1960's.
"One of who?" I asked, intrigued by this stranger. "My apologies, my dear. You clearly are not. What is your name?" He asked me. "Gisella Black. What's yours?" I replied.
"Christian Eabon. The pleasure is mine." He said with a bow. What is this guy doing? This isn't the 1800's. "What are you doing out here?" I asked. "Just passing by the area. I've seem to anger some creatures." A smirk appeared on his face.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused. "Were-" He got cut off by eight large wolves bursting out of the woods. Christian pulled me behind me, shielding me. Time seemed to freeze and I finally peeked around Christian to stare at the wolves. They're HUGE! This must all be a dream.
Once I peeked at them, the wolves started to growl very loudly and howled and continued to stare at Christian. "These wolves don't seem to like you being with me at all." Christian stated while observing the wolves. I literally couldn't breath. These animals are about to tear us apart and he's so calm about this!
"Why would these wolves feel protective towards me? They want to kill us!" Before I could finish, Christian disappeared and I immediately turned, in shock by fast he could run. The wolves instantly started chasing him, running around me. The movement of their bodies sent a strong breeze, making my hair fly around.
As if on que, the girls started screaming my name and I stood, frozen in my spot. The ran around me, checking to see if I was fine.
"Are you hurt?" The girls panicked, Bristol speaking to someone on the phone about me. "Did you guys see how huge those wolves were?" I said emotionless, staring in the same direction the wolves went. They ignored my question. "Lets take her to Sam and Emily's." One of them said, pulling me towards the car. I kept trying to resist moving because I wanted to see the wolves again.
I got pushed into the middle of the backseat, much to my dismay. "Guys, what the fuck just happened?" I finally snapped out of it and said. Each of them seemed shocked at my outburst but I didn't care.
"Those are why we were worried you'd come home early." Erica started. "We're having a bit of a wolf problem in La Push." Talia went on. "Why were they chasing that man?!" I practically yelled. "What man?" Devory asked, confused. "Come on, you saw the wolves but not the same?" I asked annoyed. "No, we didn't." Kalia said from the front.
"Where are we going? I want to go home." I said, defeated. "We're going to Sam and Emily's where all the parents are." Devory told me. I sighed heavily and laid my head back against the headrest.
"That guy had red eyes, it was so...weird." I broke the silence that no longer lingered in the air. Bristol, who's sitting to my right, eyes widened. "What?" I asked innocently.
"Honey, you're seeing this." She said nervously.
"Why is everyone acting like I'm crazy?! I know what I saw!" I raised my voice.
"Was he stoned?" Talia asked.
"No, his iris's were red! I'm not lying!" I truthfully said.
"I think you need some rest." Erica suggested and I just let my head hang in defeat. I'm getting nowhere with these girls.
The car ride, to my pleasure, didn't last long. We pulled into Sam and Emily's gravel driveway, the car ride turning a bit bumpy. I robotically got out of the car and followed the girls into the house, where I was in my mom's arms in .2 seconds.
"Are you okay?" She whispered into my hair.
"Yes, perfectly fine. Now why did I see a man with red eyes?" I blurted, stepping back to look at my mother.
"The girls said there was no one there but you and the wolves." My mother admitted.
"Mom, I know what I saw! I'm not kidding!" I admitted, frustrated no one believed me.
"Honey, you probably were so scared from seeing the wolves, you imagined this man." My mother tried explaining to me.
"You weren't there so you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about." I angrily said, walking away from her. Of couse, I walked right into my dad's arms. "Daddy, why won't anyone believe me?" I whimpered into his chest.
"It's common to imagine things when you get scared, it happens to ev-" I walked away before he could even finish.
I climbed the stairs and locked myself into the bathroom. Frustrated, I let my back slide down the door and tears slipped from my eyes. Frustrated tears.
"Why won't anyone believe me?" I whispered to myself. After sitting against the door for the next five minutes, I got up and turned the warm water on. I splashed my face a couple times to calm myself down. Staring at myself in the mirror, water dripping down my face, I tried to even my breathing. Finally calmed down, I dried my face and left the bathroom but stayed upstairs in the loft area.
I heard footsteps come up the steps and I prayed it wasn't my parents. Thankfully, it was the girls.
"What are you doing?" Kalia asked as the girls sat down around me.
"Just thinking about today." I admitted.
"Was your date good?" Erica asked as she picked at her nails.
"Yeah, it was okay. He admitted that he use to take his ex-girlfriend all the time to the restaurant we went to. I got over it fast but at first I was kind of offended." I said.
"Boys are so witless. They view girls as an unknown language when really alls we want in life is someone to play without hair and buy us pretty things." Bristol said and we all started laughing.
"No truer words have ever been spoken!" I agreed. Should I bring up the man again? Would they listen to me? Maybe I am truly berserk. Turning towards Kalia, who currently is staring out the window, I noticed conflict in her face. She seems removed from Earth right now.
Loud footsteps came through the door and the girls were gone in a flash, running to their boyfriends. Sighing, I debated if I wanted to go down there and ask where everyone was but I knew the answer I was going to get wouldn't match up right.
I went downstairs anyway to the very crowded living room. My brothers and cousins all turned to stare at me with worrisome eyes. Okay, if this doesn't seem sketchy to anyone then truly I have lost my rocks.
"Preston!" I exclaimed once I saw him. He hurried over and pulled me in a hug.
"Are you alright?" He asked in concern, holding me tightly. I, on the other hand, am completely confused.
"Yeah...why wouldn't I be alright?" I asked, taking a step back to look at him with a confused face.
His expression changed quickly. "Uh, um...just wanted to know if everything you and Cedar did didn't hurt you!"
"Preston, that makes absolutely no sense!" I exclaimed while throwing my hands in the air.
"Just be safe around here, okay?" He warned and walked away, leaving me with my mouth hanging wide open. Is it International Confuse Gisella Black Day? Because if it is, why was I not told about it?
"Giselle!" I turned around to see Porter walk towards me, clearly relived. "I heard you had a run in with wolves."
"Yeah...but they didn't want me. They wanted someone else." I explained to him, hoping he'd understand.
"Just don't walk around the woods anymore, they're not safe. These wolves are dangerous." Porter warned me.
"Yeah, yeah everyone's been telling me that." I mumbled. Why did my parents move here if it was 'so dangerous'? Ever since they adopted me, they've shielded me from everything harmful. So what was the point of moving here again?
"Just don't leave without an escort, alright?" He begged me and I nodded. Feeling overwhelmed, I went and sat on the back porch. It wasn't dark yet, but the storm coming in made the skies a mean, purple looking color. The clouds raced across the sky, signaling a storm is coming in fast.
Rubbing my forehead as if it hurt, I closed my eyes. My phone vibrated from my sweatshirt pocket and I pulled it out. It was probably just Colter textin-
'Your family's lying to you. Trust what you saw.' - Kalia
Ooooooooooo cliffy! Tsk tsk, Kalia! Don't be sharing information that could harm our dear, Giselle! Haha, review please! To clear confusion if any: No one from La Push wanted Giselle to come home early because there is currently a vampire on the loose. Of course, Giselle comes home early and she's currently locked out of her home and comes face to face with the vampire! The wolves, terrified to see the vampire with Giselle, try to scare him away before he can harm her. Thankfully, they're successful! Enjoy the rest of you week :)
