A/N: Okay so this one is about Kyle and Jodi, and it is an idea I got while I was listening to the song Apologise by One Republic.
Okay, anyway, you may, or may have not noticed that today I updated all 13 of my stories. It is because today is a very special day, which is the 21st of July. This time last year I joined as Sheerio4ever. And here I am. So as a mini celebration of the last 12 months, I have decided to update all my stories, and maybe update my profile :) Enjoy.
Apologise:
"What was she like?" I asked, my voice emotionless.
"What are you talking about?" Kyle turned around to face me.
"The girl you slept with, the girl that you cheated on me with." My voice was still emotionless, but my body wasn't.
"I didn't-" He began, but I quickly cut him off.
"Don't deny it, that makes you an even bigger jerk!" I whispered, although secretly I wanted him to deny it, to make me believe that he didn't cheat on me, to make it all a sick joke, a silly mistake, a messed up lie, even though I knew it wasn't.
"I... I'm sorry babe." He still had the cheek to call me babe? He was a bigger jerk than I thought.
"What was she like Kyle? Was she good? Did she do everything that you asked her to do? Did you like it? Did you think it was fine, that you would get away with it? Or did you feel like the cheating scum that you are?" I started off whispering but ended up screaming. I just lost all self control.
Kyle finally gave up on denying it.
"Jodi, I am so sorry-" Kyle began, a sorrowful look on his face. "It didn't mean anything, I didn't even know what I was doing until the next morning - I swear! I only love you." I just stood there emotionless, I was numb. My back was facing him, all kinds of thoughts swirling around in my head. The main thought was "how could he?"
"Jodi? Babe? Say something!" Tears welled up in my eyes as I turned around to face him.
"Kyle." Now it was my turn to speak. My voice was thick with emotion.
"Jodi." He walked towards me, probably with the intentions of giving me a hug. He thought I was a fool. Thought that he was off the hook. I pushed him away from me roughly, and he stumbled backwards into a table. "Wha-?"
"Don't touch me!" I spat at him angrily.
"Jodi, I said that I was sorry!" He said, beginning to get angry. "What more can I do? Tell me to do anything, anything that will make this better, and I will do it - I swear."
"Tell me her name and where you met her," I croaked.
"I... what? How is that going to make anything better?" Kyle asked confused.
"It'll make me feel better when I ask around about her," I growled. "See if she makes it a regular thing to sleep with people's boyfriends."
"Jodi, that is really not going to help this situation," Kyle answered.
"Oh yes," I said sarcastically. "Because this situation can only get worse. Besides I want to ask her if it meant anything to her, and give her a pregnancy test. I'm not having her knocking on the door one afternoon with a kid in her hands, announcing it's yours, and we not knowing if it's a lie or not."
"So there is a chance of us getting over this?" Kyle asked, his voice hopeful. I thought back over my words bitterly. Damn, why did I have to say that.
"Maybe, it'll certainly help if you give me her name though," I said, gritting my teeth.
"I really don't think..." He muttered.
"Kyle!" I snapped.
"Her name is Sunny, I can't remember which bar." Kyle answered.
"Of course not," I said, as I grabbed my coat and stormed off outside.
"Where are you going Jodi? Jesus Christ!"
"Don't follow me Kyle," I shouted back at him. "It'll be easy to find her, how many people are called Sunny?" I laughed bitterly.
"Jodi! I'm sorry! Please come back!" Kyle yelled.
But what Kyle didn't know was, it was too late to apologise.
. . .
I stood outside Sunny's house, at a distance. It wasn't that hard. I stepped into the bar, and someone called my name out, thinking that I was her. It was convenient. I pretended to be her cousin, looking for directions to her house. I wasn't questioned and I was given an address.
Now I was standing a few metres outside, and staring at the door. It was a nice house, prettier than my apartment anyway. I looked, and looked, and looked, and tried to think what I would say when I knocked on the door. I saw the door, Sunny's door, open, and a small girl step outside. She seemed to be brushing the patio. Looking at her it was hard to believe that this girl was the type of person to go around having one night stands, but you never really knew anyone, did you?
She straightened up and looked around. I nearly stumbled out of my hiding place in surprise. This girl looked very similar to me, only with a more innocent, child-like face. Maybe this wasn't totally Kyle's fault... If he got really drunk and Sunny and I looked this similar, maybe he thought that Sunny was me...
But that still didn't excuse his behaviour totally.
I took a deep breath and started walking towards her. "Excuse me?" I called out to her. She looked up at me, and smiled kindly.
"Hello, do you need help?" She had a soft, sweet voice. Nothing like mine. Even drunk Kyle couldn't mistake that, right?
"Umm yeah, I'm looking for someone named Sunny." I told her, knowing full well that this girl was Sunny but not wanting to look like a stalker.
"Oh," she smiled cheerfully. "That's me, what can I do for you?"
"You slept with my boyfriend," I said bluntly. "Kyle. Three days ago."
"Oh," her face immediately went a bright shade of red. "I'm sorry, I-I didn't know. Are you going to hit me?"
I shook my head. "I want to, but I know that it probably wasn't your fault."
"Oh," she just went redder though. "I am really sorry..."
"Save it, I don't want to hear it." I told her. "I'm sure you are a really nice girl or whatever. I just came to tell you to take a pregnancy test."
"What?" I didn't think that she could go any redder. Apparently she could.
"Don't take it personally. I just want to make sure that you aren't going to pop up at my doorstep with any babies in nine months time." I said, fakely cheerful. She could probably tell that it was fake too. She'd be stupid if she thought that I was actually happy.
"But..."
"Take the pregnancy test." I growled, taking one out of my bag and shoving it into her hands. "Now." I got sick of being nice. She nodded meekly and walked into the house. I didn't bother to follow her. I was a bitch, not an intruder.
Five minutes later she walked out and shook her head. "Not pregnant." She handed me the used stick. "There's your proof."
"Great," I said emotionlessly, dropping it onto her patio. "Have a great evening." And I walked away.
. . .
I entered the apartment again, and nearly cried when I saw Kyle. He looked at me. "Jodi..."
"I'm going to grab some of my stuff, you can stay here. I'll go crash with Melanie for a few days." I told him, avoiding his gaze.
"No, it's okay, I can go stay with Ian and Wanda, they won't mind." Kyle protested.
"No," I shook my head adamantly. "I don't want to stay here after..." I broke off.
"That's okay," he was nodding now. "I understand... just... are you going to come back?"
"Maybe," I answered. "I want to think about it..." He nodded but his face looked like his heart had just broken.
"Okay."
I walked into our bedroom, and grabbed a bag, flinging random stuff into it, and a picture of Kyle and I together. Whether to cry at it or burn it I didn't know. I zipped up the bag and stepped out into the kitchen, where Kyle was still standing.
"Bye..." he whispered.
"Bye," I answered, reaching for the door. I turned to face him when I had it open. "And by the way, I met her. She's... very like me." And then I shut the door and walked away, unsure to whether I would ever come back.
