Cece point of view
I was in my room, just finishing getting dressed. It's been almost a week since since Logan and I went walking through the mall on Saturday, looking for a job for him since he was fired from the food court. We weren't able to find a job that he was suited for, but we did find a poster for a karate workshop, where he could get paid as a mentor, which is kind of like a job!
It's great for him and all, since he says he's a pretty good martial artist (and I doubt he'd lie about something like that), but I don't get why he had to drag me into doing it with him. I hate karate! I'm terrible at it! Last time I tried it, it was a total nightmare. Why'd he make me do this?
Then again, now that I think about it, I did agree to it. Sure, he was practically begging me to do it with by, but I could have continued to say no.
Why did I eventually say yes? How was he able to convince me to do something that I hated? Hmm. Weird. I guess maybe because it was hard to reject him. Like, I just couldn't say no to him. Looking into his eyes, he big brown eyes, I felt like he was able to make me say yes, without even trying. Hm. Really weird…
Well, at least I'm not doing it by myself. He'll be there to help me, so it definitely won't be as bad as last time. And who knows; with Logan there it might actually be really fun! He's always been able to make things more interesting, ever since we made up. Even when we weren't friends, every moment he was there, it was never boring or dull. I can count on him, right?
Well, today was the day; the first day of the martial arts workshop. So I was getting ready. Logan would be here any minute to pick me up, so we could go over to the mall together.
I just finished getting dressed, and walked out of my bedroom, to grab my purse. Just as I walked into the family room, there was a knock at the door.
"I GOT IT, FLYNN!" I yelled down the hall, as I made my way towards the door.
"THANKS, CECE!" Flynn yelled back, from his bedroom.
I walked up to the door and opened it up. There in the doorway, stood Logan, with his same usual friendly smile, and a backpack over his shoulder.
"Hey, Logan!" I greeted.
"Hey, Cece!" He responded cheerfully. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah. Hey, what time does it start again?"
"The workshop begins at 4:00 o'clock, so we should really get going." He said.
"Okay fine, let's go." I groaned.
Logan must have noticed my negative attitude, because then he said:
"Don't worry, this will be fun, I promise. Since you signed your name next to mine on the sheet, that means I'll be your mentor, so I'll be able to show you all you need to know. So just trust me, okay?"
I looked into his dark brown eyes. I felt that weird tug in my chest again. Finally, I sighed, and responded:
"Okay fine, I trust you. Let's go. And you better not disappoint me!"
Logan chuckled. And with that, we left the apartment, and headed for the mall.
Ty point of view
I was leaning against my locker at school, waiting for Tinka to come and pick up her books from her locker. It's been almost a week since Rocky confronted Tinka for me about the date. After doing so, she went back to my dressing room and told me everything.
Turns out, she did really enjoy our date. The reason she didn't say yes wasn't only because we were total opposites, but also because she thinks that I don't really like her! She thinks I only asked her out to be a gentleman.
Well, I've been thinking this over for several days now, and today is the I confront her; today is the day that I will come clean and tell her how I really feel and how wrong she really is.
Rocky appeared around the hall, and walked to my side.
"Hey Ty, you sure you can do this now?" She asked.
"Yeah, of course." I responded, still not taking my eyes off Tinka's locker. "I've waited long enough. I really like Tinka and I really want to be with her. I need to let her know how much she means to me. If she says no now, then, well, I guess I'll just have to get over it somehow."
I heard Rocky sigh. "If you say so."
Just then, Tinka walked out of a nearby classroom, and went into her locker, grabbing books and putting them in her backpack.
"There she is." Rocky said. "Good luck."
"Thanks." I sighed, right before I began to walk over towards the sparkling blonde.
Just before I could say anything to her, Tinka dropped one of her books on the floor. I immediately bent over to pick it up. Unfortunately, she bent over at the same time. We ended up slamming our heads together, hard.
We both fell back, each of us moaning in pain.
"Sorry!" I exclaimed.
Tinka just chuckled. "It's okay, Ty. I'm fine"
I smiled, and picked up her book off the floor, before holding it out to her.
"Here, you dropped this." I said.
Tinka smiled and took it from my hand. "Thanks, Ty."
She was just about to turn around to leave, but I quickly grabbed her arm.
"Wait, before you go, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked.
"Um, sure." She said, with a confused look on her face.
We walked over to one of the benches and sat down.
"So here's the thing." I started. "Remember when you and I went on a date about three years ago?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Well, when I asked you if you would like to go out a second time, you never gave me a response."
"Oh, yeah. Uh, well, you see… about that-"
"Look, before you say anything, Rocky told me everything you said to her last week."
As I said this her eyes widened with shock and fear. But I just kept going.
"And I just want you to know that what you think is not true. I know we're opposites, but I didn't pity you. I was being completely sincere. And I still am. Look, Tinka, I know it was a long time ago, but if you are still interested, I'd really like a second date."
"Are you serious?" She said in shock.
I nodded.
"Listen, Ty, I really did enjoy our date, and I'd love a second one, but I just can't do that to you."
"What do you mean?"
"What do I mean? Look at you! You're the coolest, cutest, most popular boy in school! And what am I? An outcast that everyone in school hates and loves to make fun of. If word got out that you took me out on another date, people would start to think you really like me, and your reputation would be ruined. I just can't put you through that."
For a second, I was stunned by her words, she doesn't want to go out with me because she thinks she'll ruin my reputation?
"First of all, Tinka, I DO really like you. Second of all, if people start to make fun of me because I'm dating you, that's their problem, not mine. They're just going to have to deal with it. They can't change the way I feel about you."
As I said this, a small smile appeared across her face.
"And third of all," I continued. "Did you just call me the cutest guy in the school?"
Her checks turned as red as an apple. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"So wait do say?" I asked. "Do you want to go out with me again?"
Her smile grew wider as she responded. "I'd love to. Pick me up at seven next Saturday."
And with that she walked away. I waited for her to turn the corner, before I jumped out of my seat, and did a little happy dance! She said yes! She said yes! I finally got a date with Tinka!
I headed back over to Rocky, with a little jump in my step.
"Well, judging by that grin on your face, I'm guessing that she said yes." Rocky said.
"That's right! We're going out next Saturday. Thank you so much Rocky!" I exclaimed as I squeezed her in a bear hug.
"Easy there Ty!" She said, pulling away from me. "No problem. Now, if I'm not mistaken, it's time for your end of the bargain."
"No, not yet, Rocks." I said. "If the date between me and Tinka goes well, then I'll "give you permission to date the skater boy."
"What? That wasn't part of the deal!" She yelled.
But I was already running down the hall, leaving a cranky Rocky all by herself.
Logan point of view
Cece and I entered the Jones apartment, after four hours of martial arts. It was a bit more rough than I expected. And Cece was pretty frustrated.
"Ugh! I can't believe this! I couldn't even land one punch on anybody!" She yelled, while plopping down on the couch.
"Cece, relax. It was your first day. You'll get the hang of it." I said.
"Easy for you to say, you're great!" She exclaimed. "You were a lot better than I expected you to be!"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing," she said, sitting up. "It's just you don't seem like the kind of person that would be good at karate."
"Oh really?" I said, with a cocky grin across my face. "Well how about I show you something."
I reached into my backpack, and pulled out a piece of thick wood.
"Here, hold out your hands, and hold this for me flat." I said, as she stood up, and I handed her the piece of wood.
"Logan, what are you doing?" She said, giving me a nervous look.
"Just relax, and hold up the board high for me." I responded, while taking a step back from her.
"Okay, if you say so." She said, raising the board up a bit more.
I smiled, and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and lifted my hand up to the proper stance by my side. I continued to breath in and out, concentrating as hard as I could. I could her Cece humming, getting impatient, but I just tuned her out, and tried to focus.
Finally, my eyes flashed open, and I let out a loud yell as my hand flew into the piece of wood, and broke it into two. Cece eyes widened to the size of dinner plates in complete shock, and her jaw dropped. I grinned at her reaction.
Cece was silent for about ten seconds, then finally spoke:
"Can you teach me how to do that?"
I chuckled. "Cece, it's not that simple. It takes years of practice and-"
"Oh come on! Please please please please please please!" She begged while clinging onto my arm.
"Okay! Okay! Fine!" I exclaimed. "Just don't complain if you get hurt."
I reached into my backpack and pulled out a more thin piece of wood and put it on the table.
"Now, when you break wood, you need to concentrate, and-"
Before I could finish, Cece tried to break the wood by herself, resulting, of course, to a badly bruised hand. She lifted her hand back up and held it in her other hand.
"Ow!" She yelled in pain.
"Now why'd you go and do that?!" I yelled. "Let me see your hand."
"No, I'm fine." She insisted, pulling it away from me, and rubbing it in her other hand.
"Cece you're clearly not fine. Just let me she how bad it is!" I exclaimed.
"Logan, no!"
I tried reaching over her, put she tried to pull away. In an attempt to get me away, she pushed me back with her free hand. I began to fall back, and grabbed onto the back of her shirt in an attempt to catch myself. But instead, I pulled her down with me, and we both ended up stumbling onto the couch, her on top, me on the bottom.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Cece exclaimed, trying to get up.
"It's okay!" I said, also trying to get up.
But instead, we just fell down again, this time, our noses were inches away from each other. I looked up to say something, but for some reason, nothing came out. I just laid there on my back, with Cece on my stomach. I looked up into her chocolate brown eyes. I kept trying to get words out, but nothing came. Cece seemed like she was trying to say something too.
Something felt weird. Our hands were touching, and I felt some type of weird tingling feeling. My body suddenly stopped trying to get up, and it seemed like so was hers. I felt that weird tingling feeling again. Before I knew it, my head started moving forward, and so was hers.
"What are you guys doing?"
We both lifted our heads to see Flynn standing next to the couch, with a confused look. Suddenly, we both found this energy we needed to get up off the couch.
"Nothing!" We both yelled.
"Logan was just showing me some martial arts, right Logan" Cece quickly added.
"Yeah! Right!" I exclaimed, nervously.
"Uh, guys…" Flynn began.
"Flynn, go to your room." Cece said.
"Your not the boss of-"
"GO TO YOUR ROOM!"
Flynn immediately sprinted down the hall, running into his room, and slamming the door behind him.
Then it was just me and Cece. And it was quite. Very very quite. Until I finally broke the silence.
"So, my dad it probably worried about me so I should be heading home." I said.
"Oh okay! See ya at school!" Cece said.
"Yeah, see ya!" I said.
And with that I grabbed the pieces of wood, shoved them in my backpack, and exited the apartment.
What just happened?
