One hour later Quinn met Mike at Lima Bean. She spilled everything that happened last night. She thought Mike was going to lecture her, but he was smirking instead.
"Why are you smirking? Not helping at all," she said as she took a sip on her coffee.
"It's obvious," he said, still smirking.
Now she was confused. "What's obvious?"
"You have feelings for him."
"What? No…"
"Oh come on. You told him you're scared of your own feelings. Clearly, that was you speaking. Not Lucy."
Quinn hated that Mike could understand and read her as clear as an open book. She knew that somehow he was right.
"Fine… I do think that maybe… Maybe I started to feel something for him," she mumbled as she took another sip.
"Not just something. You love him."
Quinn choked on her coffee. "Shit, Mike! Are you trying to kill me?"
He laughed. "See? As clear as an open book…"
Even though Quinn was coughing, she sent him a glare, making him offered a glass of water to her. She gulped that water immediately and took a deep breath before she finally able to talk. "Not funny."
"Look, Quinn. Even if you don't love him, I'm really sure you're heading that way. You told me that you think what happened between you and Sam was getting to far, right?"
Quinn sighed. "Fine… I like him. Satisfied?"
Mike smirked at his sister's confession. Quinn wasn't that open about her own feelings so it was nice to hear her confession, even if it just 'like' not 'love'. But he knew, this was too dangerous.
"Totally. Though I was thinking more about 'love' than 'like' but it's fine," he said triumphantly as he saw Quinn rolled her eyes. "But dearest sister, I need to warn you. You're going into the dangerous territory right now."
"I know. That's why I told you that I'm in a bigger trouble now."
"Want my advice? Leave that townhouse."
Quinn sighed. "Not that easy. I tried to do that last night but he just wouldn't let me go. I packed my things already and he just stopped me."
"And you listened to him. God, you're so whipped."
"Mike, it wasn't like I have a choice. He just grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his embrace," she paused before she spoke shyly, "It felt good…"
"What felt good?"
Quinn could feel her cheeks were burning. "Being in his embrace… Mike, I've never felt like this before. No one ever love me and want me like he did."
"Okay, you gotta get out from that house now. Let's go there. I'm helping you pack," Mike said as he stood up and preparing to leave.
"Wait, right there! I haven't told you the weirdest part of everything."
Mike went to sit again and sighed. "If you're going to tell me that you're pregnant again…"
"God, Mike! No, I'm not… well, I don't know but I'm not and that's not what I'm talking about."
"Then what? Seriously Quinn this is all so complicated."
"He said that I reminded him of his first love. We have same hair and same eyes. And that when he saw Lucy, he didn't feel that way. But that night, when he was back from New York, he fell in love just by looking at me. Mike, it's like he knew that I'm not Lucy…"
Mike's eyes went wide. "Wait, what? Quinn–"
"Mike, did I met him somewhere? I do feel like I saw him before but I don't remember…"
"Where and when did he meet his first love?"
Quinn shrugged. "Well… he didn't tell me that. But he told me that he was a little bit drunk when he met her."
Mike shifted in his seat. "Quinn… is that possible that you don't remember meeting him because you're drunk too?"
Quinn looked confuse. "What are you trying to tell me? I never—"
She paused. She suddenly felt sick. She thought she never got drunk before. But there was one time she was drunk and it was five year ago…
"Mike…"
Mike felt worried. The blonde girl in front of him looked like she could pass out anytime soon. "Quinn, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Quinn! Wait! Hey!"
Mike was exhausted. He was following Quinn who suddenly sprinted out from Lima Bean. He didn't know where she was going. But then he realized that she was leading him to Sam's townhouse.
He watched as Quinn tried to open the door. Once she opened it, she dashed inside. Mike followed her as she went to the refrigerator and snatched one of Sam's pictures that attached there. Then she went to the bedroom, straight to the walk-in-closet and dug below the pile of clothes until she found the box. She pulled out one picture and set the box back.
Quinn had two pictures in her hand now. One was the picture of Sam alone. The other one was her picture with Melrose, the one that Lucy took a few months ago. She sat herself on the bed and studied the picture closely.
"This is not possible…"
Mike followed her to sit on the bed and took a peek on the pictures too. "Quinn…"
"She has his eyes and lips…"
Mike didn't know what to say. He wrapped an arm around Quinn's shoulder and rubbed her arm. He knew she didn't need him to talk; she just needed him to hold her. The girl beside him was hyperventilating.
Quinn couldn't breathe. No, this is not possible. Sam is not Melrose's dad. No, I never met him before. That was like a mantra she kept repeating in her head.
"Quinn? You okay?"
Mike knew that wasn't the right thing to ask. He knew that she's not okay. But he had to say something so she could talk again.
Sobbing, Quinn said, "What am I suppose to do right now?"
"You need to breathe and calm down, okay? First, we're still not sure about that right? It's just a hunch."
"But… there's no denying, Mike. Mel has his eyes and lips. I know I saw him somewhere before. I just didn't realize this past four years I've been looking at his eyes on my daughter…"
"Quinn, it's still just a hunch, okay? You can't let this bother you."
"It's just… it's not possible. I don't want to believe any of this."
"But didn't you always want to find out who her dad is? You don't want her to grow up not knowing who her dad is."
"I know. But not him," she paused as she wiped her tears. "Mike, you're right. It's still just a hunch. I don't know where and when he met his first love. He only mentioned that he was drunk…"
"You've got my point. Maybe the situation was just similar, we don't know. But for now, let's leave it as a hunch," he said as he saw the blonde girl nodding her head. "Now, where's your bag?"
"Walk-in-closet. Why?" she answered as she stifled a sob.
Mike stood up and head towards the walk-in-closet. "You need to leave this townhouse now."
"What? No, I can't," she said as she walked towards Mike, trying to stop him.
Mike ran his hand on his hair, looking frustrated. "Are you even serious? Quinn, this is way too dangerous."
"I know. But I can't leave. I still need him."
"Why do you need him? And don't say because you're sure that he's Melrose's dad."
"No! Mike, I still need to find my answers. He's the only one who can bring me to the Fabray's house."
"Why don't you go there alone and shove it on their face?"
"I don't even know where it is!"
"Can't you ask him?"
Quinn slapped his arms. "Are you kidding me?"
"I don't know. But what I do know is that you're really entering the dangerous zone now. Not only because you love him, but also because you're under suspicion that Sam is your baby daddy."
Quinn sighed. "Mike, I just need to finish what I started, okay? I'm not leaving this townhouse empty handed."
Mike sighed in defeated. "Fine, do whatever you want," he said. "Are you going to see Melrose today?"
Quinn contemplated for a bit before she said, "I don't think so. I mean, I just can't see her now. Not after I found this possibility of who her dad is."
"You promised her you're going to play with her."
"I know… I'll call, okay?"
Mike went home after lunch and now she was alone. She spent the rest of the day putting her clothes back in the walk-in-closet. It wasn't like she had that many clothes though. Most of what she wore since she stayed over there was Lucy's.
She also spent the day by talking to her daughter by phone. The little blonde girl was upset, but Quinn promised her that she's going to come over tomorrow and it cheered her up a bit.
Quinn was bored. Sam was supposed to be home by now but he hasn't arrived yet so she walked to the refrigerator to put Sam's picture back on its original place.
Was it really you, Sam? She thought as she put the picture.
As if it was on cue, her phone rang. She looked at the called ID. Sam. Without waiting, she answered. "Hello?"
"Hey, baby."
"Hey. Why aren't you home yet?"
"I got something to do at the office. I don't think I'll be home for dinner too. Are you okay with that?"
"I'm fine… I can just eat dinner on my own."
"Great. I'll see you later?"
"I'll see you later. Take care…"
"Will do. Love you!"
Quinn hung up as soon as Sam said those words. Hearing Sam said those words felt nice, but it wasn't like she was ready to hear it every time. It shouldn't bother me yet I have this strange feelings in my stomach, she thought.
She decided to brush those things off her head and went to the kitchen to cook her dinner.
Sam went home around 10pm. He looked so exhausted. He wanted to shower but Quinn didn't have the heart to let him.
"Just go to sleep, kay? You look so tired," she said as she helped him took off his suit and loosen up his tie.
"I think Dad hates me. He just gave me these loads of work at 4pm and expects me to finish it today. Can you believe him?"
Quinn giggled. He looks so adorable when he's frustrated like—Hey, Quinn. What are you thinking? "Well, I'm sure he just wants to see how capable you are."
"But not by punishing me like that," he said as he continued to strip down until only his boxer left. "Are you sure you don't want me to shower first? You hate it when I stinks."
"I think I can handle it for one night and one night only," she smirked.
"Good, cause I'm ready to crash," he said as he throws his body to the bed. "Come and join me."
Quinn settled herself next to him and pulled her body closer so he could snuggle her. She rested her head on his chest, just like what she usually did and draped her arm on his stomach.
The truth was she wanted to ask him everything about his first love. Since her conversation with Mike earlier that day, her hunch of Sam being Melrose's dad had bothered her. But seeing Sam so tired like this, she just didn't have the heart to question him.
"You're not asleep yet?"
Sam's voice brought Quinn back to reality. She shook her head and said, "You're not asleep too."
"Well… I know something is bothering you so I couldn't sleep. What's wrong?"
"Nothing big… We can talk about this tomorrow."
Sam yawned. "What was that?"
"Nothing. Go to sleep, kay? I know you're exhausted."
"Just tell me what's bothering you and I'll go to sleep."
"Fine… it's about your first love."
"What about her?"
"When and where did you meet her?"
"What's with the sudden interest?"
"Just tell me fast cause you have to sleep."
Sam yawned again. "Summer… five years ago… in a bar near Florida State University…"
As he said the last words, he began to snore. In contrary with Sam who was fast asleep now, Quinn was wide-awake. She couldn't even think of sleep. Quinn felt sick. She knew where she was summer five years ago and what Sam said just confirmed her hunch…
Sam Evans is Melrose's dad.
The cat is out from its bag! Most of you guessed it already and yup, you're right. Sam Evans is indeed the dad of Quinn Fabray's daughter. Did I make it a bit too obvious? But don't worry, this doesn't mean the story will end anytime soon. We still have lots of mystery to solve :)
Em: Hey there! Thanks for the review. Yup, you're indeed right. A bit too obvious, huh? But there's still more twists in this story. It's not ending here. So stick around and hope you'll enjoy this one too :)
Chloe: Hey there! Thank you for reviewing. Glad you love it. Hope you'll love this one too :)
RJRRAA: Hello! Thanks for the review. Well... I know it's a bit confusing. The whole Lucy and Quinn as twin sister and how to address them when I'm using Sam's POV is indeed confusing but let's just say that... Sam still haven't notice that Lucy had a twin sister and that he met Quinn five years prior ;) There'll be an explanation of that, though. So stick around and hope you'll enjoy this one :)
Nicole: Hey there! Thank you for reviewing. Glad you like it. YES SAM IS THE DAD! Kinda obvious, huh? But I still have more twists in this story and the revelation scene is still a bit far from here. So stick around cause there's still more to come. Hope you'll love this one too :)
As usual, thank you for all of you who's been reading this story. Hope y'all enjoy and love this one. Leave me some reviews. Tell me, whether you love it or hate it. Criticisms are welcome too and if you have any question, just leave it there and I'll give you some answers ;) I'll try to update soon. See ya! :)
