Quinn went to the townhouse as fast as she could. This is not happening right now, she thought. Yes she was about to leave him but not now, not when she was still so damn close with him. Her plan was to stay away from him, to make him think that she didn't love him anymore, then she left without a trace. However, this might not happen now.
When she finally reached the townhouse, she stopped for a while, trying to catch her breath. When her breathing turned normal again, she took another round of deep breath before she approach the door. She knew this was not going to be good.
She opened the door and stepped in. She closed the door and when she turned around, she met Sam's angry gaze right in front of her.
"Oh my God! You surprised me!" He stood so close with her, she could feel his breath.
Sam didn't say anything for a while. He just stood there, stared at her eyes. "Who are you? Where is Lucy?" He finally said after a while.
Quinn gulped. "Look, I can ex—"
"I don't need your explanation, okay? I need your answers!" he exclaimed.
Funny. That was exactly what I was looking for, she thought. "Okay, okay! I'll give you what you need. Can you calm down for a second, please?"
"No, I can't. Now answer me!"
Quinn flinched at his harsh tone. He never talked to her like that before… and now it broke her heart a little.
"Don't ignore me!"
"My name is Quinn. Quinn Noelle Fabray," she finally told him. She saw him scoffed and he was about to talk but she cut him off. "I'm Lucy Marie Fabray's twin sister."
"That's not possible," he shook his head. "Lucy is the only daughter of Russell and Judy Fabray. You're lying."
"Well, apparently you're talking to her twin sister," she mumbled. "Look, I need to grab something. It will explain everything better," she said as she walked pass him, heading to the bedroom.
Sam followed her immediately. "Hey, where are you going? That's my bedroom! You're going to steal something, right? I know—"
She turned around. "Stop it! I'm not going to steal anything," she said, obviously frustrated with a slight hurt in her voice. "You needed answers, right? Lucy had some of it and it's in your closet."
"Just to make sure, I'll come with you."
Quinn sighed. It hurts, really hurt her so bad. The man she love didn't even trust her now, even accused her as a thief. Sure, it was her fault on the first place but it still hurt. She walked straight to the closet and grabbed the box hiding on the bottom of it. She placed in on the bed where Sam sat and handed him a piece of paper.
"What's this?"
"A copy of my birth certificate. I was born in Dallas, Texas on April 30th, 1990 to Russell and Judy Fabray," she explained to him. Sam was about to say something but she beat him to it. "They gave me up for adoption straight after I was born. I lived in the foster house until I got adopted when I was three. Apparently, Lucy had a copy of my adoption letter too."
Sam took another paper that she handed to him and read it. He studied it for a while before he said, "What—why—how did she get these?"
"Do you think I know the answer for that?" she rolled her eyes.
"If you got adopted, why did you still have your biological parents name? Why didn't you change it?"
"I asked them about it. They said I already had a pretty name and it rhymes better with Fabray than Chang. So they didn't change it."
"Where's Lucy?" he asked her again after a while.
"She's dead."
"Don't lie to me!" he yelled at her as he grabbed her shoulder and pushed her back to the wall. "I'm going to ask you again and you'd better not lie. Where is Lucy? Where'd you hide her?"
She flinched. Damn, that hurt. But she was going to ignore that first. It wasn't her biggest problem now. "I'm not lying, I swear. She's dead, Sam. I saw it—"
"You killed her?!"
"No! God, no, Sam! I didn't kill her!"
"Then what did you do to her?"
"I didn't do anything to her! Will you let me explain? Please, Sam…" she pleaded. His grip on her shoulder became stronger and it hurts. "Sam… it hurts…"
Just then Sam realized that he has been gripping her shoulder too strong. "Sorry 'bout that," he mumbled as he took a step back. "Explain then."
"No, it's okay," she mumbled back. "So, the day when I saw Lucy killed herself—"
"Wait, what?! She killed herself?!"
"Let me finish first, okay?" she said, obviously irritated that he kept interrupting her. When she saw him nodded, she continued to talk. "I've been in this town for only a year and I was away for two months. When I got back, I saw this girl, approximately my age, standing alone in the platform at the train station and she was crying. I shouldn't bother, I shouldn't care. She was a stranger anyway. But something about that girl drew me in. When I asked her if she was okay, she just turned around and I felt like I was staring at a mirror. I was shocked but before I could say anything, she went to the edge of the platform and that was when the train hit her."
Sam stood there in silence for a while, trying to take everything in. That was all too much for him. He retreated and sat himself on the bed. Lucy? Killed herself? Why?
Quinn could tell that he was confused and frustrated. She really wanted to comfort him but she knew she couldn't do it. She decided to just stay in her place and wrapped her arms around herself.
After a while, Sam broke the painful silence between them. "Then how did you get here?" He still sounded mad but his voice sounded calmer than before.
"She left her purse on the platform and—"
"You robbed her?!"
"No! Not exactly… well, I didn't really take anything from her. Anyway, I looked at her ID and discovered that she was indeed my twin sister," she stopped for a while before she asked, "You remember Mike? You met him at the hospital."
He frowned. "How did he relate to—wait. He's not from the orphanage, is he?"
"He's my brother. Well, I called him that night. When I was still trying to process the fact that I have a twin sister who just killed herself, he saw the family picture of Lucy and… um… my parents," she paused. "All this time, I thought they really didn't want me. Or maybe they couldn't afford to raise me. Or maybe they were dead. But I saw the picture, I knew it was taken just recently and then I just got really mad and curious. I mean, if they were too poor to raise me, why did they keep my twin sister? Why didn't they give both of us up? And that was when I decided that I need to go here to find out."
"So you decided to come here and fool me by posing as Lucy?!"
"No. I didn't even know that she lived here with you. When I knew that, I just think maybe… maybe you can help me to get to know the Fabrays. Maybe you can take me to their place—"
"By posing as Lucy?!" he said as he ran a hand on his hair, frustrated. "Did you know that you could just be yourself and ask me nicely?"
"I didn't really plan to do that. I just… I guess I didn't really think…"
"Yeah, right. You didn't think," he scoffed, obviously irritated. He stood up and approached her again. "God! I think all this time, Lucy changed for good! You even slept with me lots of time! And I even said I love you to you! A stranger! Dammit! Do you know how I feel with that?!" his voice raised.
Quinn could feel her tears built up. "Sam, I'm so sorry… at first, I just did that to distract you but—"
"So you used me for your own satisfaction?! To fulfill your needs?! God—"
"Sam, no! Will—"
"You're such a horrible person, you know that? You're selfish! You only think about yourself. Did you actually think about how I feel about this, huh?"
"Sam, please just hear me out," she started to cry then. "I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to meddle with your feelings or mine. I might lie to you about who am I, but I never lied about my feelings. When you said I love you to me, I was scared because… nobody ever said that to me. For the first time in forever, I felt loved… and it felt so good. I just… I didn't realize that I fell in love with you, that I love you too. I knew it was wrong for me to feel that way but I couldn't help it… Sam, I'm sorry…"
When he saw her crying, all he wanted was to wrap his arms around her and comforted her just like he used to do but he couldn't. Who was this girl in front of him? Sam didn't know. All he knew was that his girlfriend was dead, and he's been living with an imposter.
Then he realized something. It wasn't just Quinn that he saw at the mall earlier. There was…
"Wait a sec. If Mike wasn't from the orphanage, who was that little girl in the hospital? Was that the same little girl I saw earlier at the mall? She's your daughter, isn't she?"
Quinn was still crying when she heard Sam asked those questions. Right, that final bit of information. How am I gonna break it to him? God, he will go ballistic.
"I warn you again, Quinn. Don't ignore me."
Quinn wiped her tears first before she finally opened her mouth. "Her name is Melrose… Melrose Arianna Fabray. Yes, she was the little girl in the hospital and yes, she's my daughter…"
"But how come… I saw her earlier and… her eyes… How come her eyes looks just like mine? And her lips… I can see it."
"Wanna know why? She's your daughter."
Then it went silent between them. Sam was stunned. He had a daughter? But that little girl… there's really no denying. But how's that even possible?
Quinn was also stunned. She couldn't believe how she could just blurt that out, just like that.
He shook his head. "That's… that's not possible. No. That's not even possible," he said as he took a few steps back. "My daughter? My daughter? We never met before so don't try to fool me again, Quinn!"
"Why would I lie to you about this? Do you think I believe that too?" she asked him back. "When I stepped in to this house and I saw your pictures, I felt like I saw you somewhere but I didn't remember when and where. Then you said all those things about meeting your first love in Florida five years ago but you only remember her hair and eyes because you were drunk. I was in Florida five years ago, Sam. Mel was born in Florida. Then Mike told me that maybe I didn't remember because I was drunk too. And the only time I've been drunk was the night that gave me Mel…" she stopped a bit before she added, "Apparently, Lucy knew you had a daughter with me."
"What?" Sam felt his knees went weak. This is insane, okay?
"Look inside that box. Lucy had a couple pictures of me and Mel. I think it was taken like 4-5 months ago, before I left to Boston."
Sam did as she told. He found the said pictures inside the box. The more he saw the picture, the more he saw the resemblance between Quinn and Melrose and also himself.
"How did she know about you? How did she get these pictures? How did she get all those documents of yours?" he asked, even though he knew Quinn wouldn't know the answer to that.
"You think I know that?" she rolled her eyes. "My guess is… she saw me. Then she started to suspect that she had a twin. Then she looked for the documents. But then she saw me again, but I was with Mel. Then she saw your face in her. And by the way you told me that Lucy hated every time you mentioned about your first love that you met at a bar, I think she figured out that I was the one you met all those years ago and we had a kid. And I think that's why she killed herself… I don't know."
Sam didn't say anything for a while. Just like before, he tried to take everything in. This was all getting too much. First, he learned that his girlfriend committed suicide. Now, he learned that he had a daughter, with his girlfriend's twin sister. And apparently, his girlfriend knew about that and decided to just kill herself. Wow, this is so fucked up.
"So… she's—" he gulped before he continued, "she's four, now?"
Quinn nodded. "Yes, she is. She's going to start school soon."
"And when you were at that hospital, it was her that got hit by a car, wasn't it?"
"Yes…"
"So… I was saving my own daughter's life…" he trailed off.
Quinn didn't know how to respond that. She knew it was all too much for him. She couldn't handle it too.
"Wait a sec," he said after a moment. "Tell me what you wear that night, I mean, the clothes. I might not remember your face or name but I remember the clothes."
Quinn took a breath. "I wore a t-shirt and jacket and jeans. I kinda remember what you wore too, you know. You wore that blue plaid shirt with a white shirt inside and jeans."
Sam took a step closer to her, then another step, until he was directly in front of her. Their faces were just inches away. They could feel each other's breath. Sam stroked her face with his hand, still trying to take everything in.
"It was really you…" he said as he brought his face closer, close enough that he only need to lean down a bit to catch her lips for a kiss.
Quinn lifted her face a bit, high enough to brush their lips together. "Sam, I'm so sorry… I love you…"
Sam didn't move. He let their lips brushed each other's for a while before he said, "You need to get out from this place."
Quinn felt her heart stopped beating. "W-what?"
He took a step back. "You heard me."
Quinn stepped forward and grabbed his hand. "Sam, please—"
"Don't touch me!"
Again, his harsh tone startled her. "Sam, I'm so sorry…"
"I don't need your apology. I need you to get out. You're just a stranger, trying to ruin my life. You need to go. Now."
Before she knew it, she was crying again. "Sam, I know I was wrong and I'm so sorry. I love you… I need you… please—"
"Stop saying that, okay? I don't love you."
There's a huge pang inside her heart when he said that. Damn, that hurts. "Sam…"
"No. You need to get out. I don't wanna see you again."
"Sam, please…"
"I'll give you one hour. Just one hour, to grab all of your things. And you need to leave all of Lucy's thing that you took. Her cellphones, her clothes, her money..." he trailed off. "I can't believe I've been living with an imposter! Dammit!" he exclaimed as he stormed out the room.
"Sam!" she called him when she saw him at the front door, looked like he was heading out. "Where are you going?"
"I need to get out. I don't wanna be in the same room with you. When you get out, leave the keys under the rag. And remember, you have one hour."
As Sam slammed the door, Quinn knees gave away and she slumped down on the floor. She curled her body up and just cried there. Congratulations, Quinn Fabray. You screwed up, again.
Hey guys! So... yup, that's the BIG chapter I've been talking about. What do you think? I actually finished writing this even before I finished with the 17th chapter so I just needed to do a quick check on it before posting it here. Hope y'all like it :)
RJRRAA: Hello there! Thanks for the review. And thank you for liking this story. It's one of my favorite story to write. It's just easy. I mean, I never really think that I can constantly updating this story and we're in the 18th chapter now. There's still lots to come, so stick around! Hope you'll enjoy this one :)
Ashley: Hello there! Thank you for the review. It's here now! Unfortunately, things went down hill between Sam and Quinn in this chapter :( I know, I hate it too. But you know, everything happens for reasons and there's lots of reasons behind all of this. As for your question about Quinn and Puck, I gotta say that I'm actually okay with that. I mean, I'm not really happy with it since Fabrevans is my OTP but gotta be honest here. I kinda like Quinn and Puck during season 1 (I never like Finn and Quinn (both times), I don't really know why) but ever since Sam came around, Fabrevans beats the others. So yeah, I'm okay with Quinn and Puck although I want Sam and Quinn back together again. What I'm really not okay with is actually Sam and Mercedes. Since there were lots of hints that they're going back together too, I just... I don't know. I just want both Sam and Quinn (individually) be happy. But in my mind, Fabrevans will always be the endgame. End of story. Ha. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy this one :)
Kera: Hey there! Thanks for the review. The wait is over, dearie, cause the BIG chapter is right here! You predicted it right. Sam is definitely not happy and as for now, things went bad between Sam and Quinn. I assure you, this story will have a happy ending. Just there will be lots and lots of interesting things happening in the middle of it. Hope you'll enjoy this one :)
diana: Hello there! Thanks for dropping by. I'll try to update this story as soon as I can. Hope you'll enjoy this one :)
chocolate and vanilla swirls: Hey there! Thanks for dropping by. And thank you for loving this story (I love your username by the way, my favorite combination for ice-cream swirls!) Hope you'll enjoy this one too ;)
Nicole: Heyya gurl! Thanks for dropping by and you must be ecstatic right now cause this is the revelation scene you've been waiting for! I hope it meets your expectation. Sorry if it's not. I had this whole scene in my head perfectly but it's just hard to write it exactly the way I visioned it to be. I hope you'll like it :)
Heads up, this is NOT the last chapter. This is kind of the beginning of something new, if I can put it that way. There's still lots of interesting things to come. Thank you for everyone who've been reading this story. I hope you like this one. And I will be really grateful if you leave me some reviews. Tell me, whether you like it or hate it. Any questions or critics are fine too. Just leave it there and I'll answer you. More to come so stick around and I'll see you guys again soon! :)
