Chapter 19: Not Another One…

Some Description: It seems like Scarlet Temptation and the newly reformed Investigators Guild are both looking for Hozume but what could be the reason? We will see the situation of Hozume as Kirito fight Rujikiho and Zero confronts Yumi and Quorora.

Hozume's P.O.V

Kuso… my heads keeps hurting me every now and then now… I hadn't felt like this ever since the time my foster father attempted to destroy the family that Yumi and I created… not that kind if you're thinking differently. Koyero was a former member of our family until he escaped because we told him to then he ended up getting crashed by his new parents' van. I wonder how the others feel while I was unable to fight for these few weeks… when I come back I'll go back with a blast. Anyway I heard from some of my sources that someone named Zero was looking for me… I wonder why he's looking for me…

I hastily went out of the house of mine and Yumi's. Why do I get this feeling that all of pandemonium will break loose soon? … I must not think about this for now… for now I must go to HQ and check out what I missed. I teleported to HQ, then stretched out. Boy… I suddenly feel all stiff all of a sudden… When I went in I saw someone with a cloak waiting for me to go in so I did since I really had to check up HQ since I have been off duty for a while so I closed in then that guy approached me… I secretly wrapped my fingers around the hilt of my new blade… it was just like my old one but a bit more curved for slashing.

"Yokoshiro Hozume… come here…" The hooded person commanded. "Who are you and how did you know my accursed last name?" I muttered since I despised that name and have been only been known as Hozume until now. "Questions will be asked later…" The person stared at me with his intimidating silver eyes. He seemed to have dark blue hair hidden since his hoodie reveals some strands of it… looks quite like black hair if you ask me.

"What are you gonna do then, huh? I won't let you take me so easily you know." I backed away with my weapon drawn. "You still don't remember? That hit from Rujikiho may have made you forget… No matter… I'll make you remember by the clashes that we have… you will remember what you were going to do after the time is right…" He confused me as he pulled out just one small hidden blade from his long sleeves. "After you…" We both announced then circled around, looking for at least a small opening.

"Observing as always… Hozume-san…" This guy chuckled as he made a feint then slashed at me to the left but I blocked it with my blade. "Identify yourself you fiend… What have you done to the others in HQ?!" I became aggravated suddenly then pushed him back. "Oh nothing… let's just say that they fell for me and my trap… they won't be noticing us now…" He was revealed to be a Scarlet Temptation member and he was Level 93. "What did you do?!" I slammed to him then kicked him aside but he evaded then did a backflip.

"C'mon… at least remember your special skill or else you have no chance at all." He looked like he was going to take a hit. "My player name is Mishoro so just call me by that… if you remember me Hozume-san… I am the new 3rd strongest in Scarlet Temptation now if you didn't know…" He introduced himself. "3rd strongest or not, I shall defeat you so you could stop with the lies…" I closed in a bit while he was ready to parry.

"Don't underestimate my small blade… assassins should use the kinds of weapons in their battles so get ready to remember… Hozume-san…" Mishoro held is blade a bit forward. "I told you… I do not know whatever you are talking about." I leaped towards him but he easily dodged like he was as fast as light. "Seriously, use your skill already Hozume-san or I really will kill you." He suddenly cut off my sword arm making me crumble to the ground and holding my shoulder in pain.

"No… I don't even remember what happened about what you're saying. I was just battling Rujikiho just so that I can assist my friends!" I lunged towards him with my sword using my left arm since my right was cut off. "Pitiful… You really forgot everything like that traitor, Hozume-san… I shall make you remember…" He parried my slash then he suddenly stabbed me with a sharp metal fragment after he threw away his small sword. "K-Kuso… why am I weak at this time? Is my previous injury affecting me?" I thought out loud.

"Hehe… you'll remember soon…" He dug deeper to my chest making me feel such excruciating pain. "Gah..." It took all my willpower to stay conscious. "Remember now Hozume-san? It was you who did this to us…" He grabbed his small blade and stabbed me once more but this time on the abdomen making me covered in digital blood. "We will happily make all your friends crumble one by one… starting with the other traitor…" He smirked. "For the last time…" I muttered weakly. "I don't know what… you're… talking about…" My eyes closed shut as I lost consciousness.

Klein's P.O.V

Phew… It's been a long time ever since I spoke. The event that I still didn't forget was that fight I had with Okasa. She told me that her skill was only seen by her teammates while Tomomi said that the move of hers is a very dangerous move that can kill so I wonder what it is… Anyway I've been relaxing these weeks after that incident so I have no idea what I can do. I heard that Scarlet Temptation was still active even if their leader is dead. I also heard that the Investigators guild is reformed with someone known as Zero as the leader but that's just his shorter player name though.

I was currently patrolling around the old hideout of Scarlet Temptation which was in Floor 77 in the fortress. As always, inside the fortress there was something that was making loud booming sounds from the basement. It's a sub-boss that respawns in the basement after its death every 24 hours. It is a boss that has amazingly high HP unless you break the vases inside but it'll be hard to break it if you're by yourself. It felt like someone was following me though so I stayed vigilant to my surroundings. When I turned, it was just Figo… but what happened to his eyes? It became from azure blue into bloody red.

"F-Figo?! What has happened to you?! You look… bloodthirsty…" I gulped slightly as I prepared my katana for safety precautions.

"Why hello there Klein…" He had a dark aura surrounding him as his red eyes were making a creepy combo with that aura.

"You don't seem like the Figo I knew… you seem more sadistic. Who made you into this?!" I demanded for an answer as he slowly smirked then slashed at my leg making me roll backwards to get far.

"Nanidai?!" I twitched in confusion as I unsheathed my weapon now.

"Prepare to feel the darkness Klein… you shall see pandemonium… where no one shall save you…" He raised his hand then all the escape routes were blocked.

'I'm sorry Figo but you've forced me to fight my way out… I would rather not hurt an ally but you may hurt the others if I don't stop you… gomen Figo…' I thought to myself as he was tilting his head as darkness developed on his sword arm.

"W-What is that? Is that…?" I suddenly lost all my willpower… no this can't be… I always have enough willpower.

"Hai… taste my evolved Shadowblade… The True Shadowblade…" He muttered as the darkness became stronger.

I calmed down from my flinching then I desperately made a rough combo on him and even an aerial one but it didn't seem to even slow him down. He knocked me down numerous times until I was breathing for air. His darkness was like a weapon and shield for him. He easily parried my attacks then came back with a powerful blow… even my skills couldn't give much damage to him… Whatever happened to him must be stopped… This person isn't Figo anymore.

"No… this is my last chance… Last Resort!" Luckily I was 4 levels lower than him so it worked. I'm Level 90 and he's 94.

After the boost was given, all I had was about 2 minutes to deal as much damage as possible since I can only use this boost once a day. Figo seemed not amused though like I was not even a flea to him. His eyes began glowing red as he lunged towards me then I easily parried him but his shadows stabbed me on my arm. I retaliated by using Prominent Slashes but he took every hit with just a very small amount of damage. He was still mid-green while I was already yellow. He pushed me back like I was nothing then he seemed to have used something.

"Taker of Darkness…" He slashed at me then I felt like I was being sapped. "Kuso…" I kicked him off then made him fall to the ground with a sweep. "Break…" He just touched me but I was sent flying all the way to the other side of the room. 'What am I even doing?! I can't beat him in the state he's in…' I clenched my fist and punched the ground out of desperation. "Give up Klein… Join me then we'll defeat the others with the power of Dark Radiance…" He offered me with a hand.

No, I will never let darkness overcome me… I must stay strong because my friends need me… if I don't defeat his dark form here and now then my friends will be in grave danger and I will never forgive myself if that happens. He must have a weakness but what the hell could it be? He was still in a momentarily pause waiting for my answer so I may think of a plan but I'm not the type to plan so what else can I do? He seems to have the upper hand no matter what I do unless I find out his flaw.

"The move I have just used on you absorbs the effect of my opponents and makes me have the power so I wouldn't do anything fishy if I were you since I got your Last Resort effect…" He warned like he knew what I was thinking of.

"I wasn't planning anything like that!" I countered. 'Shoot… there's no way I can defeat him in the state I'm in right now… if I get a new skill then will it be enough to give him some damage? Anyway I must find a way out just so I can warn the others… or I could fight him in a hopeless disadvantage…' I was thinking.

"I shall give you just 1 minute left… take it or leave it…" His eyes were glowing red once more. "If you should accept then I shall give you the power of darkness… if you should decline then you will see hell… Klein…" He made another shadow blade then stabbed it on the ground like he was preparing something.

'If I accept will I get the power to defeat him and have control? If I do then we'll be evenly matched although if not then it'll be the end… It's a risk worth taking… if I continued then I will die soon but if I accept then I have at least a little chance to defeat him plus save the others… I have decided…' I reflected on the chances. "Fine… I surrender. I shall accept the power of darkness." I surrendered. 'I hope I'll still have control…' I gulped.

"Wise choice… Klein but I'm afraid to say that you'll not remember and you won't control it. The darkness will overcome you…" He chuckled. "Rejoice as your very existence shall be used as the power of Dark Radiance…" He stabbed another blade on the ground and it seems that the initiation started.

"No! This wasn't what I expected!" I felt myself crumble as some power was coming from the ground to my legs. "Kuso…" I used the last of my control to send a message. It was a warning to the others since I will become like this alternate Figo… pure evil…

I stood up as I felt myself stronger. It wasn't just me anymore… it was a more powerful version of myself… I am now darkness' servant, associated with Figo… Someone… please defeat me… Gomen for everyone that I may hurt for my last true vision and right now is pure darkness… I have been blinded and I really couldn't control it… I have failed my nakamas… I couldn't stop Figo and now I can't help anyone anymore… This darkness prevents any escape so I am trapped… Why must my fate be this? I wonder this until the day I escape… if I ever escape from this evil trance…

Wukure's P.O.V

Hehe… although I was supposed to apologize to Figo-san for me calling him and Quorora-san dating I never saw him after the time he accidentally knocked me out and the time he said that he'll be training with Tadaiku and Sinon. Figo was a true fighter… he would never forgive himself if one of us should die or something especially if it's Quorora-san~ since I'm a toughie and I wouldn't die so easily. I became Level 90 by some training sessions I had with Kerzuki. He's truly a worthy opponent. I love the word 'truly'~ anyway it's serious business now. I really couldn't find him anywhere… I also couldn't find Quorora-san anywhere… so does that mean… no Wukure! Bad thoughts!

Basically, I was searching for Figo-san with some assistance with Kerzuki. Figo told me that he finished training with Tadaiku and Sinon in message and said that he'll come back but he never did ever since yesterday. Quorora-san was around yesterday too so I wonder what both of them are planning without us knowing where they are… Kuso… my mind is playing tricks on me again… Why can't I just think of a possible scene instead of something… regrettable.

We still haven't seen them around even if we were working together in searching. So far our guild has only 4 official members: Figo-san as the leader, Quorora-san, Kerzuki as the newbie and me as the guild strategist. We're currently looking for new members so that was why I attempted to invite Sinon to join our guild since her Archery can prove very useful in our fights plus her teammate Tadaiku that had a powerful Zweihander and he also was a high level of 95. I wonder if Sinon finally thought about my offer through since these floors can get rough with just two players and there's also Scarlet Temptation to worry about.

Like I said, our guild was made by us childhood friends. Figo, Quorora and I were best friends since we were toddlers so we're all very close. We need to get more members so that we can increase the family and so that we can watch each other's backs since we're family. Anyways I'm the more overprotective brother if you ask me. I have a sister if you don't know… but I don't want to tell anyone who she is… I only told Figo and Quorora so they're the only ones that know who she is… I must keep the family safe.

"Did you find anything useful so that we can find Figo-san, Kerzuki?" I turned to my right where Kerzuki was investigating some kind of closet that we had.

"Nope… all I found was this thing." He gave it to me so I could investigate. "It smells dangerous though so I think it isn't meant to be touched…" He warned as I got it.

"Holy… Crystal Powder?! Figo-san does know that consuming this thing is dangerous for a player's health and may decrease their stats…" I examined the phial. "Could it be that Dark Radiance took over him again and made him consume this to weaken him? No, that can't be… Figo-san was trained not so long ago to control it so someone or something must have forced him to consume this…" I guessed since he would never consume such a risky thing.

"Oi Wukure-san, I think I may have found something." Kerzuki called me to his side which I went to. "It's a trail of blood and sword shards…" He muttered.

'Figo-san… They have come… Scarlet Temptation finally got some guts to fight again… He was a former member of that guild but he left immediately as soon as he found out what they were planning to do… so they're doing this to punish him since he was registered as a traitor.' I grimaced but I gave a big sigh. "Let's follow the trail, Kerzuki. We should find him fast…" I touched the crystal on my glove.

"I've been wondering… What is that crystal on your glove that you and Figo-sama have? What does it symbolize?" Kerzuki was right behind me, following me like the loyal follower he is.

"Good question but I really don't like talking about unless you're Figo or Quorora… but since you're part of the family now…" I hesitated but I finally gathered enough will to tell him. "This glove with a crystal on it symbolizes that you're part of Scarlet Temptation but we quit then instead of this crystal being on the glove only we added this marking. That is why Figo and I are the only ones with marked gloves." I awaited a hostile Kerzuki but he didn't attack me but he actually… hugged me?

"At least you were able to see the light of right instead of being blinded by their ways…" He stopped hugging as I saw him giving me compassionate eyes which I never saw before. "I feel your pain of being blinded until your friends save you from it… Forget this disguise… I can't lie to them any longer… Even if I already revealed my identity I want to stay in your guild… I want to see the true essence of family with you and my friends." He had tears coming from his eyes a bit.

"It's the right time now Kerzuki… Figo-san already told me… He predicted that this event may occur so that is why he made Lisbeth forge a scythe for you… He also said that you couldn't do it alone so you must team up with either Deira or Vukso." I smiled. "You must hasten your pace though… if my guess is true then he must be stopped immediately!"

"Hai… I know that…" He grabbed something from his neck and took it off, revealing a facial mask and his true face with two scars on each side. He then wrapped a bandana to cover his mouth and most of his face, only revealing his eyes and some of his nose. "I am Havuki… The best friend of Vukso and Deira and I shall take our family member and leader back." He sounded truly amazing. As he revealed himself, his player name Kerzuki suddenly turned back to Havuki.

"Good luck…" Those were the only words that I could manage as he left. "Kerzuki… I mean Havuki. I hope that we shall see each other good and alive as the next full moon comes…" I sighed as I continued my search.

I was still following the blood trail but as I was following it, I sensed someone following me but I let it slide so I could think of a counterattack when he/she attacks. I breathed as time seemed to have slowed down while I was thinking. It's always like this when I brainstorm for a plan. Time seems to stop but it actually means that I am thinking amazingly fast. It's good for the Algebra tests to back at my school. I chose the classical parry-attack strategy then if that doesn't work I'll do the offense. I looked back as I was prepared for almost anything.

"Get out here whoever is hiding… I know you're somewhere above on those tree branches so there's no use in hiding from me." I crossed my arms as I unsheathed my 5 foot katana.

"Impressive and analytic as ever… Wukure…" Someone jumped from the trees with a flip then landed flawlessly on the ground.

'T-That voice?! Is that my younger sister's voice hear? She's only a year younger than me…' I tensed up which I don't usually do…

"It's been a long time…" She unsheathed her 5 foot katana (yes we have the same weapon but she seemed to use shield but I think she'll use that katana against me).

"Scarlet Temptation member… subordinate of Tomomi and my younger sister…" I saddened. "My beloved sister, Okasa." I finished.

"I never thought that they'll pair me up with you to fight each other… Anyways orders are orders… gomen for doing this brother." She charged at me then we clashed but I wasn't so enthusiastic in doing so.

How can I fight her? We're family and we have the same blood… there's no way I could hurt her… All I could do was block and parry her hits. She seemed to have little hesitation but it wasn't as much as my hesitation. I dodged most of her hits and just kept hitting her with the hilt and not the blade. She seemed to have gotten annoyed as she started using more force but I just kept countering.

I looked at her in sadness once more for I had no will to fight my sister. She is a very important person in my life and don't want to lose her… She was the only one that knew about that tragic accident that even Figo and Quorora didn't know about… she and I never told anyone but that incident scarred me and my heart so badly until she comforted me… The tragic incident was… the death of my girlfriend…

Zero's P.O.V

These women really didn't spill the beans… That girl with the player name 'Yumi' kept protesting against me while that other one with the player name 'Quorora' kept trying to stop her from doing so. They were the only people I could find in a short period of time so this was my best shot I guess… Yumi looked like she was still fuming and glaring at me even if I didn't do anything wrong… All I was asking was if they know about someone named Hozume since I'm putting him in arrest. Is she his rumoured girlfriend?

"You still haven't answered my question, ladies…" I sighed. "Where is Yokoshiro Hozume so I can finally finish my business."

"Yokoshiro?" Quorora seemed to have no idea on the Yokoshiro part which means that this Yumi should know about him… "Isn't that a name of someone that I know? Sounds like someone famous…"

"Well…" Yumi muttered nervously.

"I knew it… you do know Hozume… now talk…" I unsheathed my weapon… My shield which is attached with a blade. "Yumi, tell me everything you know about him… it's for the good of all players in SAO…" I told her.

"No! No matter what happens I will not tell you the location of Hozume!" She suddenly became aggravated and unsheathed her sword and shield. "You have to get through me before you can even touch him… because… I love him!" She bashed me with her shield, surprising me and Quorora.

"I didn't want to use force but you started it… please forgive me for doing this…" I prepared my Shieldblade and now I was ready to attack. "I assure you that violence wasn't what I was looking for… it was just your cooperation…" We entered duelling mode. It was the first one to yellow HP match.

"If I win you will leave Hozume alone and never even try to hurt him or capture him…" Yumi shouted at me, telling her conditions.

"Then if I win you shall not interfere with the Investigators Guild's business in this matter and that you will tell me everything you know…" I responded but I was quite hesitant to resolve this with violence but I have no other choice. "Fight!" A word popped out above and the duel started. "I'm not going easy on you." We both informed each other as we were circling around and preparing with our best shot.

She attempted to give the first hit but I slammed the hit away and attempted to jab her with the attached blade but she quickly countered by grabbing my shield arm and twisting it down to throw me down. I avoided that situation by disarming her sword arm with a well-aimed kick to her wrist. The grapple was released and we were now mobile again. She wielded her blade forward like it was a taunt but unfortunate for her I was doing the same thing. Quorora tried to stop us numerous times but we just pushed her away and said to not interfere, making her go away for help.

"I must say… you're very masterful in using the sword and shield… but I'm just warming up with my Shieldblade…" I complimented as I became serious as I did a judo throw when she came charging. "Don't be too hasty, Yumi. This may be just a game but you just might get yourself killed." I warned.

"Back to you too… but be warned… I'm just warming up as well… Farse Fesu!" She used a skill that seemed to have made her weapons lighter… "Let's see you parry and block my attacks now…" She attacked me like the wind since her moves were really quick as wind.

"Not bad but I'll show you the true power of my Shieldblade…" I separated the blade since it's detachable and attachable. "The detaching of the blade from the shield shall apply the ultimate boost…" I muttered.

"Don't make me laugh. I won't fall for a bluff." She continuously hit me but I blocked every hit with my shield. "Tsk… your shield had higher durability than I predicted…" She sighed in exhaustion after landing about 20 hits on my shield.

"It'll go back to you then, Yumi." I reattached my blade on my shield. "Feel the true power of a shock absorber…" I tackled her with my shield raised making her tumble to the ground… that's got to hurt.

"No… I can't…" Her HP was in very late green which made me pity her since she held out against an attack like that just for this one guy. "I won't let you take Hozume… even if this body gets paralyzed…" She groggily stood up and gave not so accurate hits which I easily evaded.

I now officially feel pity for her… she could barely aim now because I gave a powerful shield tackle to her with the blade attached… luckily the blade didn't stab her so she got the full force from the shield. I just kept bashing her with my shield since I didn't want to resort to my blood-stained blade. She helplessly fell on the ground not so long after making me catch her. She was already in yellow HP so I win. Even before I could question her, she fainted so I couldn't get information from her… I placed her on the bench and said one of the things that I usually say when I fail to get information.

"Well I guess that I have to do this investigating all by myself… I'm not the type of person to get information out of a defenseless person…" I talked to myself as I walked away after I made her on the bench. 'Well next one I should ask is probably the only archer in SAO, Sinon or her partner in fighting Tadaiku…' I decided.

I checked their area then I made my way to where Sinon technically lives, Floor 40 underground between a forest and a cave. They may know about him but I'm not so sure but at least I'll get a lead. From my sources, Sinon's real name is Asada Shino so I may get to know her pretty soon. My sources have nothing on Tadaiku so it's a mystery… Asuna is Asuna, Koyero is Koyero and Kirito is Kazuto. These three were the ones I was supposed to ask but I didn't have time to look for them and so I'm in search of Sinon's house/hideout.

Extra Scene: The Meeting of the Two Blacksmiths.

Deira's P.O.V

That Silica… she thanked me for making her a special skill by protesting? What kind of gratitude is that? Yoruski Rush can help even if the person or boss is bigger than you so what's there to hate? Of course it may look ridiculous but it has power I tell you! That Silica is so ungrateful… Anyway to cool myself down I've decided to wander around random floors just to not go berserk… The only ones that truly understand me are Figo, Vukso and my deceased friend Havuki… After a few minutes of cooling down I suddenly smelled the smell of grinding metal and pounding… It just has to be some Blacksmith…

I followed the scent then I finally arrived at some workshop… must be pretty famous by the looks of it. I never get many customers since my workshop is in a quite… dangerous area where only strong people can get through. Kirito-san only made it through just because it was by accident so I don't really count it. Although I started my workshop just a few months ago my sales isn't that good. This workshop really is interesting… I went in with no second thought after the people left.

"Welcome! This isn't really the usual time where a customer goes here though. They usually stop visiting after 3 hours of noon." Someone greeted me as soon as I came in. "Konichiwa… I sense that there's a blacksmith here so by any chance are you the one I've sensed?" I asked. "Umm… you're right on the blacksmith part but what did you mean by the sense part?" She answered. "Finally a fellow blacksmith. I haven't seen one ever since that incident…" I smiled slightly. "You're a blacksmith too, I presume… I'm Lisbeth, glad to make acquaintance." She introduced.

"I'm Deira. My workshop is around the deep areas of Floor 77 so business for me is slow…" I did back. "Slow?" She tilted her head. "What do you mean by slow if I may ask?" She questioned.

"Hmm… Let's see… Not much people could go out of Floor 77 dungeon so I'm guessing that they couldn't handle that area in going outside… So far the only people who were able to go there were: Figo, Koyero, Wukure and Kirito." I tried my best to say it in a simple way.

Order: Lisbeth to Deira…

"Pardon? Did you say Kirito?"

"Yep… why do you ask Lisbeth?"

"He promised me that I'll be his private blacksmith… that liar.

"Actually he didn't buy or upgrade anything in my workshop. He just seemed to have accidentally dropped by so I don't think he did any business with me. Anyway I was beginning to plan to move the area of my workshop."

"Oh I see… He really wasn't attempting to break his word. I thought that he broke it so gomen for suspecting."

"It's fine there's no harm done…"

"Anyway I've heard from Asuna that you're one of the new members of Knights of Blood so is that true? I've also heard from the male players that visit my workshop that you're a player with a unique skill and it's rumored that you can even teach it to others. Is that true?"

"Partly true but yes. I have the skill Radiance but I'm not really sure if it counts as a unique skill though. I can teach it to people but only to people with the right conditions to be able to use it."

"I see but what are the conditions for it then?"

"That's all I can say. If I say the conditions then the Radiance may not anymore be compatible with me or the student."

"I understand… Anyway is that all? If it is then it was nice talking so-"

"Wait"

"Nanidai, what is it?"

"Can I ask for a request even if we just met?"

"Sure as long as it doesn't have anything to do about relationships and stuff like that."

"Can I work together with you in a project I'm planning?"

"Project?"

"I had this plan stuck in my head that I could make a blade that houses more blades and those blades house more blades but it seems like it needs two blacksmiths to work so can you help me?"

"Two blacksmiths you say? This might mean it'll be rough…"

"Yep… I need to get some of the ingredients to make it as well. I used them up in my first few attempts.

"I accept your offer then. I've always wanted to try some 'Team Smithing' but I think I'll only be free on Saturdays or Sundays so let's make it count." She offered a hand.

"Mhmm." I nodded then we shook hands.

End of Conversation.

Not so long after someone came in the workshop after Lisbeth and I shook hands. It was Silica… I wonder what that ungrateful Silica wants to tell me now… she hurt me quite enough already so I wonder what does she want now… She seemed to have lost air since she was panting heavily as soon as she came in. Is there some sort of crisis going on? What happened I wonder… Lisbeth and I approached as we helped her up and made her on a chair so that she could be seated and so that she could breathe well enough so we can hear what she has to say for us.
