Chapter 11: What now?

AN: I'm back! I got back a while ago but I was so busy that I couldn't update this! Sorry bout that! :P Enjoy the chapter!

Alex sat on her bed, and hand over her mouth and dry tears covered her face. Bobby sat on the bed next to her, gently rubbing her back. Renegade officers had taken Steve and Skye away. She didn't know how to handle what had happened.

"What do you wanna do about this?" Bobby asked. Alex sniffled, and shrugged.

"Why did I leave SHIELD?" Alex asked. Bobby shrugged. "What was I so mad about in the first place? I mean, sure none of them really trusted me an' all…" Alex said, more to herself.

"Skye and the Captain trust you." Bobby said. Alex stared at the wall.

"Well yeah I guess, but that's it really." Alex said; no emotion on her face. "Fury asked my parents to spy on me.- And yes, I hacked the files and found this out." She said before Bobby could start his sentence. "My own parents… why wouldn't they just ask me!? I would've had no problem telling them when I felt different or something!" Alex began to raise her voice. Bobby just nodded.

"Were getting off topic." He whispered. Alex looked at him, and then nodded. He got off the bed and walked toward the door. He stopped turning to her.

"Wanna spar in the gym?" He asked. Alex sighed. "If we go after them now they'll know where up to something if we try to save them now. If we take it slow and act like nothing happened, it will be easier to get them out." Bobby said. Alex rolled her eyes and nodded.

"Alright." She got off the bed and followed Bobby out.

AVENGERS

Clint, Natasha, and the others walked up to Sitwell. They had contacted Fury; they needed back up to take the Renegade down. He sent in Sitwell and a dozen other agents. Sitwell nodded to them.

"Find any weak points?" Sitwell asked. Clint nodded.

"There's a two foot hole in the fence three clicks from here, it's hard to get to but we should be able to sneak in unnoticed." He said. Sitwell gave a nod then began to brief the other agents.

"What are we gonna do once were in?" Liz asked. "It's not like we can just walk in the front door."

"If we can take down a few officers then we can take their uniform and sneak in unnoticed." Johnny put in. They all nod.

"That's not a bad idea." Natasha commented. Clint nodded.

"Johnny and Liz-" He looked to them. "-if you could get in, could you hack the doors?" He looked to Nathan. Nathan nodded.

"No problem." He made clear.

"Alright then. We leave in five."

AVENGERS

Skye sat on the floor of the room. It was a cement floor and same with the walls. There was one way out; the door was a heavy metal, she didn't know what kind of metal. It didn't budge, when pushed. She was holding a rock; scratching it against the floor. This is all my fault. She thought. If I had just listened, we'd probably be on our way here to take down the Renegade instead of being stuck in this room.

Signing, she tossed the rock aside and brought her knees to her chest, crossing her arms over them. Steve sat slightly across from her, staring at the ceiling. They had already tried to escape, that didn't go well; as they came in and gave Skye a black eye and a busted lip.

Skye couldn't imagine what they would do to Alex if they found out that her and that guy Bobby were going to try and help them escape. With both Hydra and the Renegade wanting her dead, she might not try to get them out. But if there was some part of her in there that still cared about them, she knew she would do something. The lock clicked and someone walked in. They both got up and walked for the door. Men behind this guy, held guns to their heads; they back off.

"You were very brave coming into my base to save your friend." The guy said. Skye breathed a sigh rolling her eyes. "You all can call me Morgan." He held out a hand. Skye went to take it; she was gonna break that sorry ass hand of his. But Steve pushed her arm down; knowing what she would do. Skye huffed; not taking into account Morgan's creepy, reassuring smile.

"Where's Alex." Steve spoke up. Morgan turned to him.

"Safe Captain, that's all you need to know." He said. Skye could tell Morgan was pissing him off.

"If your team comes to get you, we will let you go. But if they don't… well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." He said, putting his hands behind his back. Skye raised an eyebrow.

"What's the catch?" She asked.

"If you continue to try and take our top assassin then we will kill you." Morgan said in a serious voice. Skye smirked.

"Short sweet and to the point." She responded. Morgan gave a bow. An officer came in and whispered something to Morgan. His smile faded. He turned back to them.

"If you'll excuse me." He said, and then walked out. The officers followed; locking the door behind them. Skye furrowed her eyebrows.

"What do ya think that was about?" Skye asked. Steve shrugged; ripping his eyes away from the door.

"'Who knows, probably nothing." Suddenly an alarm started blaring and they could hear people running by the door. Skye looked at him.

"Yeah, sounds like nothing."

AVENGERS

"I didn't mean to!" Alex said, trying to hide a smile. When sparring with Bobby she threw a punch; he dodged and she hit the alarm on the wall. It was in pieces; and kinda blew up.

"How could you not mean to! It's in pieces!" Bobby yelled over the alarm. Officers ran in and up to Bobby and Alex, Morgan following.

"What happened?" Morgan asked. Alex forced a smile.

"Nothing, I accidentally punched the alarm while sparring with Bobby." She said. Morgan nodded.

"You'll be needed you in a bit so be ready." Alex nodded, he expression changing as Morgan walks out the door with the officers following.

AVENGERS

Johnny and Liz walked up to the fence.

"After you." Johnny said. Liz rolled her eyes and crawled under the fence. Johnny followed her under. The walked up to the door and knocked. Then hid to the sides. Two guards walked out and looked around. Johnny nodded to Liz; they jumped out and knocked the guys out. Liz looked down at one of them, he looked like a teenager. She turned to Johnny.

"They're just kids!" She said. Johnny put his finger up to his ear; speaking into the com.

"We have a problem."

"What is it?" Clint responded.

"We think they're recruiting kids, by the looks of it they're willingly helping the Renegade." Johnny said.

"Try not to engage, unless you really have to." Clint said; then the line went dead. Johnny took the jacket off one of them and so did Liz. They then turned to the fence. Johnny whistled and Nathan's head popped out of the bushes. They nodded and he crawled under and ran up to them.

"Ok, where's the door?" He asked. Johnny nodded to it. "Oh…" He walked over and began pushing buttons. A few minutes later the here a clicks and the door slowly swings open.

"We're in." Johnny said into his com.

AVENGERS

An hour later…

Alex walked up to Morgan's door. He needed her for something and he told her she didn't need any weapons…So she brought a hidden pistol and three hidden knives. She knocked and he opened the door.

"Alex, I was hoping that you'd come." He said, letting her in his office. There were to officers by his desk. He walked behind his desk.

"There is a new test we'll be using on our newer officers, mostly teenage officers." Alex raised an eyebrow.

"What kind of test?" She asked. Morgan nodded to the officers and they walked out the door, Alex followed Morgan as well.

They walked down some halls and to a door.

"This tests loyalty." He opened the door and the officers led her in. Skye and Steve were sitting on the floor. Skye looked up and saw Alex. She ran over to her and hugged her. Alex hugged her back.

"God I thought you were dead." Alex said. Skye just nodded.

"When we say loyalty that means loyalty only to the Renegade. Ones you care about can't get in the way." Morgan added. Alex' breath caught and she let go of Skye. Morgan held out a pistol.

"No." She backed up.

"Take the gun." Morgan said. Alex shook her head. "How about this, kill one of them and we'll let the other go." She turned to them. Skye looked scared and shocked. Steve she couldn't really tell. Morgan looked like he was growing impatient. "Fine. Let's make this easier!" He nodded to the officers. They went toward Steve. One put a hand on his shoulder and tried to lead him toward the door. Next thing she knew, Steve head butted the guy and he fell unconscious. The other officer backed away. Morgan sighed. He nodded to Skye and the officer grabbed her arm and started leading her away.

"Wait." Steve started but the third officer jabbed him with one of those Taser's that Alex had to test for the Renegade, they packed a punch; actually knocked her out once. He winced and stumbled to the ground, gasping for breath.

"Stop." Alex yelled. Morgan turned to her. The officer led Skye out the door.

"Take the gun then." Alex stared at it for a moment then slowly took it. She turned back to him and cocked the gun. What Morgan didn't catch was Alex nodding to the light above them, if it goes out; the room goes pitch black. She pointed the gun at Steve's head and gave a nod. The gun flew up and she pulled the trigger. The room went pitch black and Alex went straight for the officers. She knocked one out with a punch and went to the next one. She had thirty seconds before the emergency light went on. She was counting down in her head. She threw a kick at the second and the light came on. Morgan had opened the door and fled. She was still in a fighting stance and saw an officer get up she threw a punch the rapped her arm around his neck and flipped. She did a roll, letting go and jumping up throwing a punch at the next, to late realizing that was Steve. He blocked it and stood to the side.

"Oh, sorry." She said. She dropped her fist and ran to the door.

"I see you've improved in training." He said following her. She nodded.

"A bit. I have to be careful who I train with though." She said running down a hall.

"What do you mean by that?" He said following her, holding his side from the Taser. Those things really packed a punch!

"For some weird reason about two weeks ago or something, the serum was increasing my abilities and I couldn't control the amount of strength I used so I broke this girls arm in my training class. She did deserve it though." She said, turning down another hall. Where'd they take Skye? She thought. They turn again.

"Ok, then." He said. Alex looked down the hall and saw them.

"There!" She took out a knife and threw it at the guy. It hit his back and he fell to the ground. Skye stared at him confused them turned seeing them.

"For a second there I thought we were goners!" Skye said. Alex grinned.

"Not yet." She pointed down a hall. "That's the way out. Go down there and take a right. There's a door on the left side of the hall." They nodded and turned, Skye stopped.

"Wait, you're coming right?" She asked.

"I'll meet you, just go." They ran and Alex turned in time to see a guy fire a gun. She felt pain in her shoulder and she fell, seeing Skye turn back and running toward her.

"Alex!" She yelled. Steve grabbed her and she struggled to get away.

"She'll be fine. She always is; we'll come back for her." He said and they ran out of view. The world went black.

AVENGERS

The two Renegade officers pushed Alex into the room; she put a hand up to her shoulder where she got shot. She stumbled slightly but kept her balance. Morgan stood in front of her. He grinned.

''I gotta say, we didn't think you would last as long as you did." He put a hand under her chin; she scoffed; shrugging his hand away. "I have a feeling someone helped you figure us out?" He stated, referring to them using her to do their dirty work. "Was it a class mate?" Alex just kept a calm gaze; she had a glare obviously on her face as well.

"All I'm gonna say is that he told me you were insane." Alex said. "-and a few other words which I do not wish to speak of." She said with a smirk. Morgan glared at her and walked down the hall. The two officers put a hand on her shoulders and walked her forward. She shrugged off the hands and walked slightly faster.

"You've been busy with you friends from SHIELD." Morgan said. "To bad you the reason that there gonna die soon." He stated notch handedly. Alex just stared at him.

"I won't let you do that." Alex made clear. Morgan grinned.

"Oh don't worry; I'm not the one who will do it." He said in a playful tone. Alex raised an eyebrow, still staring him down. "You will." Alex stared at him for what felt like an hour.

"Ha-ha, you hilarious. Now cut the crap. You tried a bit ago and failed." Alex said; she would have put her hands on her hips if not for her hands being tied behind her back. He looked serious now, in a creepy-evil kinda way. "You're serious." She said, getting a little scared. He turned to a door.

"There's someone I'd like you to meet." Then he stopped. "-but first, let's talk about some colleagues of mine. "You remember Hydra correct?" He said. Alex's gaze grew darker. "-said to have died out in the 40's- well, we all know how that ended up…" He said. "Anyway, there not colleagues, there us. We're Hydra." He said. Alex's eyes widened. "You've been working for them the whole time, and you didn't even know it." He said. Alex really wanted to punch him but she knew she would get nowhere with that.

"Then why all the secrecy? Why not tell everyone from the beginning?" Morgan shrugged.

"For one, we knew you wouldn't join us, and two; every other student here needed a sob story to look up to so they'll work for us. All that 'we keep the balance of power' crap doesn't exist." Morgan said.

"So what's behind the door?" Alex asked.

"It's more so who… But you've heard of Sergeant James Barnes right?" Morgan said. Alex's eyebrows shot up. That's was Steve's best friend in the 40's, everyone called him Bucky, but he died on a mission. She had seen a picture of him and Steve with the other Howling Commandos. Alex blinked, coming out of her thoughts, she nodded. Morgan turned; opening the door the two officers pushed her in the room. Morgan walked up to a man, she couldn't see his face. Then Morgan stepped out of the way and she recognized him immediately. It was Bucky. She gulped, feeling sweat on her forehead. I'm screwed. She thought.

She stared at him for a moment, his hair wasn't short anymore, it was almost shoulder length and he had a metal arm. She turned her deadly gaze on Morgan; she began to walk toward him and dragged the two officers with her.

"What the hell did you do to him!?" She demanded. Morgan shrugged.

"I did nothing to him. He was assigned in this area and Peirce wanted him to base camp here." He said. Alex's breath caught in her throat. Peirce? As in Alexander Peirce!? She thought. "And yes, I'm talking about Alexander Peirce, part of SHIELD." He grinned. Alex's breathe quickened. She looked back at Bucky who was staring at her intently. She then looked back at Morgan.

"But Peirce is part of SHIELD, he wouldn't betray us." She said. Morgan chuckled. Alex glared at him.

"You'd be surprised." He said. Alex raised an eyebrow. "Back when SHIELD was created-"he began. "- they recruited Doctor Zola, a previous Hydra scientist. And as time went by, Hydra began to grow with in SHIELD, feeding off it as it grew to the SHIELD you know today." Alex's eyes went wide. "SHIELD was built off the ashes of Hydra. And as we true believers would say." He head up his figures for quotations. "Cut off one head, two more shall take its place." He said with a smirk. She let out a breath.

"So what do you want with me?" She asked. Morgan turned to Bucky, he turned to Morgan.

'Well you see, the Winter Soldier here, doesn't know who he is and we'll wipe his memory along with yours in a moment so you both don't remember a thing about SHIELD or anything." He said. Alex pulled on the restraints but the two officers kept her still. Morgan walked up to her.

"Don't worry, it doesn't hurt too much. Only down side on your part is that you won't remember a thing." He said. She had had enough of this. With as much force as she could muster, she jerked her head forward, hers colliding with Morgan's, he dropped to the ground clutching his head. She then felt the two officers behind her act. She turned, kicking the legs out from under one and knocking the other with her shoulder. "Stop her!" She heard Morgan said. She turned in time to see Bucky walking toward her. She began to back up.

"Bucky! I know you're in there! You don't have to listen to him." He kept walking toward her. She thought of what to say. "Remember Steve? He's your best friend! This isn't you!" She went to throw a punch and he caught it with his metal arm. She struggled to keep her ground but he was obviously much stronger than she was and she began to slide back, the pain was excruciating. She turned her arm, and then blocked a punch from him, holding up her fore arm. Once again she couldn't hold it and dropped it.

She could see Morgan behind him. She looked back at Bucky, he was looking at her but she could see he wasn't taking in anything she had said. She dropped, sliding between his legs and toward Morgan. She threw a punch at him. He slid about a foot away before he looked back at her; his nose bleeding, along with a busted lip. Then she felt an arm go around her throat and she was dragged back. She could tell it was Bucky by the feeling of the metal. Morgan got up, and walked toward her and threw a punch at her gut. She bent over, feeling the pain and coughed. Bucky didn't let up and Alex couldn't breathe to well at this point. Morgan wiped the blood off his face and glared at her.

"We'll teach you some respect soon enough." He said. Alex tried pushing Bucky's arm away to let her breath but clearly that wasn't going to happen. Morgan nodded to Bucky and he dropped his arm from her neck but then firmly grabbed her arm. Morgan walked into another room and they followed. There was a weird looking chair and with all sorts of equipment around it. He led her over to it and Morgan waved his hands to it. He pushed her towards it. Alex turned and looked at Bucky.

"You don't have to do this! You don't take orders from him!" Alex said. He stared at her for a moment then looked to Morgan.

"He won't listen to you." Morgan said. Two other now called Hydra officers came into the room and put Alex in the chair. Morgan came over to her right. Bucky sat in another chair like the one she was in behind Morgan. "See you in a few." He said. He turned to Bucky.

"Who's Steve?" Bucky said. Alex felt guilt hit her in the gut.

"Nobody, just someone who works with the enemy." He then walked into another room in front of them with a glass window to look through. She turned over and saw Bucky was looking at her.

"I'm sorry." He said. Alex didn't know what to say. She suddenly felt a jolt of electricity and the world went black.
