Chapter 12: She's changed

AN: I left it on a cliff hanger last time! Did you all like the twist ending? Review if you did! Sorry I was in a hurry and I wanted to give you guys that chapter so I couldn't add a little note at the end! So I hope you enjoy this one!

Morgan grinned, he turned to a scientist.

"How much did you give her?" He asked. They had given a serum version with the memory wipe to keep her fighting skills in tacked.

"A small dose, the only downside is; that her memories will come back over time as she sees a person she knows and places she's been. If she gets hit in the head hard, she will lose and any memory of what she has heard in the last hour. So our secrets involving SHIELD will be safe." The scientist said. He nodded. "And Peirce wants Barnes back in Washington; there's been a change of plan." He nodded. Morgan walked back into the room. A few scientists helped Alex sit up. She looked around confused.

"Where am I?" She asked. Morgan knelt down with a smile.

"You're at home." He said. Alex looked around confused. Morgan looked to Bucky, and then nodded to a scientist who led him out of the room. Alex got up and looked around.

"What happened?" She asked.

"The organization known as SHIELD wiped your memory; we found you and brought you home." Alex looked shocked.

"Why?"

"We need you back, you wouldn't remember but you were our top assassin before and you still are. We need your help." He said. Alex let out a breath.

"Who am I targeting?" She asked.

"Anyone who says there your friend. SHIELD is good at doing that." Morgan said. She turned with a serious look.

"What do I have to do?" Morgan grinned.

"Kill them all."

AVENGERS

Liz, Nathan, and Johnny walked down a hallway in the Renegade base. Liz walked up to a door with a label that said 'Camera Room'

They walked in and stopped seeing an officer in the chair. "Hey." Johnny said. The guy turned. "Morgan wants you in his office." The guy looked worried but gave a nod and walked out of the room. Liz and Nathan raised an eyebrow. Johnny shrugged. "Bad guys always have a creepy office of some kind." The walked over to the dozens of screens on the walls.

"There!" Liz pointed at one of the screens, Steve and Skye ran down a hallway on a screen.

"We found em." Johnny said into his com.

"Ok, were moving in." Clint responded.

AVENGERS

Skye followed Steve down the hallway. They turned around a corner and stopped.

"I thought she said turn left." Skye said. "-Or maybe it was right…" She said scratching her head. Steve huffed.

"Let's just try a door." He turned the knob and they walked in. Four officers were standing talking. They turned and they all had a moment of staring. Steve began to back up pushing Skye behind him. "Go!" The four officers ran after them and pulled out their guns. Steve and Skye ran down a hallway and saw a door cracked open.

"Let's try this one." The label said 'Storage'

They cracked the door behind them and the officers ran by. Skye turned around and looked at the room. There was a ton of stuff. Cool looking guns and stuff covered the walls and boxes and bins filled most of the room. Skye saw a familiar sight out of the corner of her eye. She walked over and picked up the shield.

"Look what I found." She said. Steve turned and saw Skye holding his shield. She tossed it and he caught it; putting it on his arm. Skye saw her gun holster and a few other gadgets of hers sitting next to where the shield was. She sighed with relief and put them where they belonged. An alarmed stared blaring and they ran into the hall.

"SHIELD agents have been spotted in the area, proceed to your designated area and protect your district. This is not a drill." A booming voice said over the alarm. Skye looked down the hall and saw someone. She let out another sigh of relief.

"Alex!" Steve looked where she was looking. Alex just stood there, not moving. Skye took a step forward but Steve put his arm out blocking her.

"Wait." He said. Skye gave a questioning look.

"What?"

"Something's not right." He said. Alex stared at them, in a way it didn't look friendly. She raised a gun toward them. "Get down!" He yelled. He pushed Skye behind him and held the shield up; feeling several bullets hitting the shield. It grew quiet and they looked up; she was gone.

'What the hell was that?" Skye asked shocked and confused.

"I don't know." He replied. "But something tells me that wasn't Alex."

AVENGERS

Clint, Natasha, Hill, and Sitwell looked around at the base. They had gotten in and were now in the building.

"Ok, Nat; your with me down this hallway. Maria, you go down that one and Sitwell you hold down the fort here." They nodded and split up.

Clint and Natasha ran down a hallway. They turned and saw three officers. Natasha pulled out her pistols and shot them down before they continued. Clint turned down a hallway and saw the one person he thought he would never see again. Alex was running toward the hall they were coming from.

"Alex!" He yelled in relief. She stopped looking cautious and confused. Like she didn't know them. Natasha ran up next to him. A voice came over their coms.

"Barton! Romanoff!" Steve said. Clint put it his wrist up to his mouth.

"Good to see you're alive." He said.

"If you see Alex, do not engage! In fact don't get near her. Something's happened to her." He said, ignoring his statement. Natasha looked at Alex, shocked and hurt. Clint looked at Alex.

"Copy that." He said, sounding distant.

"You see her now don't you." Steve said. "Me and Skye are coming your way." The line cut and Clint and Natasha were left standing in front of their daughter.

"Alex? Honey?" Natasha asked quietly. Alex was gripping her bow in her hand; her right hand ready to grab an arrow. "Remember us?" She asked. Alex narrowed her eyes, but said nothing. Seconds later Steve and Skye ran around the corner. They stopped short, seeing Alex between them and Clint and Natasha. Startled, she yanked an arrow out and nocked it; ready to fire.

Skye and Steve put their hands up slightly in a surrendering stance. She looked at Clint and Natasha, then back.

"Alex…?" Skye said cautiously. Alex pulled the string back farther, up to the corner of her mouth. "We're your friends." She said. Alex's eyes widened and she let the arrow fly. It skimmed Skye's suit, making her cringe as she jumped to the side. The arrow hit the wall behind them. She looked wide eyed and frightened.

"Alex…" Clint started. She turned. Another arrow was in her hand. "Remember us? We're your parents." He said; referring to himself and Natasha. Alex looked even more confused. She looked around her, probably for a door or some kind of exit. There were none. Steve thought of something to refer to.

"Remember the island?" He asked. Alex turned back. Skye looked at him, as if to say: Now why would you bring that up?

"Don't bring that up!" Skye whispered.

"Just wait…" He said. He looked back; she looked like she was trying to remember. "How you got injured and Skye patched you up?" Alex blinked several times. "You stayed back to make sure we got out…" She looked less cautious, and then shook her head, nocking the arrow. He took a step forward. She released and he put his shield up to block it. Skye sighed; and stepped out in front of him and began to walk toward Alex.

"Skye!-" Steve cut short.

"If you know me, you won't hurt me." Skye said. Alex had gotten a pistol and was holding it up."You're my friend." She said, trying to sound gentle.

"No!" Alex yelled. Skye flinched a bit, that was the first time she said something like this.

"Alex, you're my best friend. You always have been." She said. Alex looked like she was gonna break.

"I-I don't remember!" She yelled, looking weaker just from the conversation.

"You will, just- put the gun down." She was right in front of her now and could feel the cold metal of the gun on her forehead. Alex's hand shook and she slowly began to lower it down. Suddenly, an explosion went off sending everyone flying. Alex got up and ran out of site.

AVENGERS

Johnny, Liz, and Nathan heard an explosion go off in the building. They began to follow the sound and came across Sitwell's agents. They met up on the hallway.

"Have you seen Cap or Skye?" Johnny asked. Sitwell shook his head.

"No, but we did get a transmission, they met up with Barton and Romanoff." He told them. Johnny nodded, he turned to the Starks.

"Let's hold up here." He told them. Both nodded.

AVENGERS

Natasha pulled herself up; unable to see through the smoke and dust.

"Nat!" She could hear Clint yelling.

"Here." She coughed. She took a few steps forward and tripped over someone. Skye looked up at here.

"Ouch." She groaned. Natasha helped her to her feet.

"Sorry." She said. Skye shrugged, not really caring. Clint walked up to them, along with Steve.

"Did you see where she went?" Clint asked, worried. Natasha shook her head, looking around. Skye climbed over the debris and squinted at the sunlight coming into the building. The dust cleared and she saw the rest of the base.

It. Was. Huge.

She could see miles and miles of training camps, facilities, everything. It was like an entire community, a community training to kill. A war zone lied in front of them as well; Renegade officers were coming by the dozen. More SHIELD agents had joined the fight. The rest of the group joined her.

"I gotta get one of those." Clint said in an almost joking voice, referring to the training areas. Natasha sent him a glare and he backed off. They climbed out and looked around at the battle ground that lied before them. Suddenly, a familiar sound came into the distance and Iron Man came into view; landing in front of them.

"Bout time you got here Stark." Steve joked. The face plate came up on his mask.

"Yeah well, someone needed to lead the rest." He said. Steve raised an eyebrow.

"…Rest?" Just then, five Quinjets came around the building along with Thor flying up along with Astrid and Arthur; landing next to Stark.

"I brought help…your welcome." He said.

"Is Alex in trouble?" Astrid asked, worried. Clint, Steve, Natasha, and Skye shared a look.

"You could say that." Skye said.

"They did something to her. She doesn't remember any of us." Steve said. Astrid nodded. One of the quinjet's ramps came down and Hill and Banner came up to them. Another quinjet ramp came down and the rest of the kids came up to them. They all looked at each other.

"Well, looks like we're all here." Iron Man said, and then he looked around. "Wait, hold that thought; my kids aren't here." He said looking around. Surprisingly Liz, Nathan, and Johnny were climbing over the rubble as he said it. "Oh, there you are." He said. Liz ran up to him and so did Nathan.

"Dad, I haven't touched a piece of Stark tech in over three hours; where's my suit!" She said desperately.

"Jarvis?" He asked, amused.

"Yes sir?" Jarvis responded.

"Bring them in." He said. Two suits flew around the corner and landed a few feet away. Liz squealed ad ran over to hers. And Nathan walked over. The got into their suit and tested the flight.

"Ah, so much better." Liz sounded relieved.

"Alright, now were all here." Tony said. He turned to Cap. "What's the plan?" He nodded and turned to everyone.

"Ok, Starks, you watch the perimeter. Prevent anyone from leaving this building, but try to keep as many alive as possible." They nod. "Banner, try and help in any way you can, if they pull the tanks out, you know what to do." Banner nodded. "Thor, Astrid, Arthur. Knock out there communications towers. If they can't call for help, this job will be a lot easier." He turned to the rest. "The rest of us will try and contain the violence. Again try not to kill anyone unless it's a must. Most of these teens don't know what their getting into." They all nodded in agreement. Clint and Natasha didn't look to with it though. "And keep eyes out for Alex. If you find her, contact us immediately; oh and most importantly, do not engage her." He said. Everyone nodded, and Clint and Natasha looked a bit better.

They all had a weird moment of silence. Banner hulked out. Liz had her face plate down now. "…So, Avengers Assemble/ SHIELD agents?" She put in.

"Yeah." Skye said. They all gave a nod and headed off into the battle field or building.
