A/N: So, long time no chapter. School got so hectic over the last three months, i just didn't have time to do anything! But, i've completed this chapter, and uploaded it, so I hope you take the time to read it, and i'm truly sorry for the long hiatus. But i'm back now, and hopefully there will be plenty more to come after this. This is chapter fifteen, so there are only eight more chapters to go, and then I'm hoping I can go back to Forever Unstoppable. Well, here it is, enjoy, and let me know what you think. It's a lot rushed, but I did that on purpose. It helps to move the story along, so now I can write the normal way again. If you're confused, don't worry. It will all be explained. Or, you can PM me, and i'll fill in the blanks. Thanks and Enjoy. JusticeIsn'tEasy0083. D.
Chapter Fifteen: The Next Step...
Kurt woke up to the sound of Rachel moving around the room. He sat up, watching as the woman picked up bits and pieces off of the floor, and shoved them into bags, and as Olivia kindly tried to help, but only ended up laughing with her mother when things didn't work out. It's like they didn't even notice that Kurt was watching them, a smirk on his face, eyebrow raised. Olivia was always trying to be like Rachel, sometimes in a way that kind of made them all afraid that she would turn into the diva. He had to give props to Rachel for her dedication to cleaning up her house, its seven thirty in the morning. In highschool, if you woke her before seven, you would be dead. Rachel wasn't a morning person, which is strange, because you would have thought she was that type. Kurt knows a little more about her than he'd like to... maybe it's not such a bad thing... maybe it's a really bad thing. Finn told him enough when the two were dating, it was like Kurt was in their relationship with them... he shivered at the thought, and stood, leaving the room, heading downstairs, where Finn, Sam, Blaine and Puck looked as though they hadn't slept all night. He just wanted it all to be over. He wants Holly home, safe in her bed, and he wants to stop feeling as though he can't be happy in his life... he wants what everyone else seems to be able to have, but not him. He wants the happily forever after, and he wants it with Blaine... which is why he had to grab onto the doorframe as he walked into the kitchen. It was like all the feelings he'd been suppressing hit him all at once. The love, the feeling of safety... the wave of emotions caused him to lose his sense of gravity for a moment, and then everything was spinning. He fell to his knees, still clutching the doorframe, hearing the laughter from the kitchen.
Finn noticed him first, his voice cutting through the fogginess taking over his brain. There wasn't an explanation... he had slept surprisingly well last night, not waking for anything, not even the apparent fight between Rachel and Puck that had woken half of the house. They seemed to be okay this morning; the bouncer was all cheerful and happy. Kurt felt a pair of arms around his waist, and he didn't need to be alert to know they were Blaine's... the hard floor disappeared from under him, he'd been lifted onto, what he assumed, was the couch, mumbling nonsense words about anything and everything. He hadn't wanted to start the day off with a dizzy spell. He thought he was over those years ago... he hadn't had one since their highschool days... must have been the large wave of emotions that hit him all at once. He let himself come back into focus... letting the world stop spinning before he spoke, clearly to the room of people watching him.
'I know where Holly is...' Kurt said, not sitting up, but able to open his eyes.
'What do you mean you know where she is?' Finn asked
'When you mentioned the car, I knew that it was Sebastian. Holly wouldn't get in his car unless he did something to make her. He's very persuasive. When I found the make and model, I called Sebastian's work, and asked for the number plate... they traced the car,' Kurt replied, closing his eyes as the world started spinning again
'Where are they Kurt?' Finn asked softly, kneeling down beside his brother, grabbing the designer's hand.
Sebastian and Holly
Novara Reserve
Pennsylvania
He'd planned to be away by ten am, but it seemed that Holly had other ideas. He knew she would try and stall, probably hoping that her father and the rest of the cavalry showed up to help her. He's not a killer, he would never hurt the girl, but he's a little hurt that people think that about him. had it not been for his stupidity, he would still have Kurt... and he would still have Holly. But he can't think about that now. He has Holly, and one day, he will have Kurt again... he knows it, because it's the only way that the designer is going to get to see his daughter. If Kurt thought he was calling the shots in this whole thing before... he's completely powerless now. Might make him sweat it a little, before Sebastian makes the call he promised himself he would make. Of course, his relationship with the little girl, depended on having her father let her stay with him... Kurt won't give up without a fight... he knows that, but once he tells the judge the story he's made up, given the proof that he has, Kurt will lose custody, and probably face jail time. On the other hand, he could have it thrown back at him, and he could go to jail for kidnapping and blackmail... but he's not worried about that at the moment... who would be? It's not like anyone can do anything about it... no one in the world knows where he is... no one at all... Sebastian threw a few more things into his backpack, and shouldered it, going to find Holly in her room. She was sitting on the end of the bed, snuggling the toy that he father brought for her when she was first born, and crying. Sebastian hated seeing her like that. he didn't want her to cry... or to know that he's the reason that she is. she looked up at him, anger in her eyes... an emotion that shouldn't be expressed by any five year old... and he cringed, almost to the brink of changing his mind... but he couldn't... he'd come this far...
Holly just wanted her father. She wanted to tell him that she's sorry she ran off, and that she'll never do it again, and that she loves him and wants him to be happy and in love, and if that means she has to force Blaine and her father together, then so be it... but she won't get to talk to him anymore, because Sebastian is crazy. He needs help, and if she was older, and could understand better, she would try and help him, but she can't. She has to hope that her daddy and uncle find her before Sebastian leaves... otherwise her short life will already be a thing of the past, and she'll have to make a new, pretend, life... waiting for the day her father would show up and be her knight in shining armour. She faintly heard Sebastian say something about 'fifteen minutes' and then he left the room, closing the door behind him. if this was going to work, she had to make sure that it would be her father who go the message. Not Finn, not Blaine... her father. It had to go straight to him. she pulled the phone she'd stolen from Sebastian's bag from under her blanket, and dialled the number her father had made her remember in case of emergencies. She said the numbers softly to herself and she typed them in, and then put the phone to her ear as it rang... once... twice... three... four times... and on the fifth ring, someone answered... it wasn't her father though, it sounded like Uncle Puck, she said that she needed to talk to her father, and then she was shuffling and Kurt's voice on the other end... she smiled, and promised that she would never run away again like she did, and that she loves Kurt... it was a short call... she hung up just as Sebastian opened the door again, the phone already back in the bag where it had been before.
'Okay, are you ready to go?' Sebastian asked, picking up her bags of clothes and smiling
'I want daddy,' she replied, knowing it would annoy Sebastian greatly
'I know, but your daddy let you run off on your own, to the other side of town, without knowing where you were. He's not a very good daddy for doing that,'
'I ran away. He didn't know anything about it, cause I was naughty... I want my daddy,' she said, stomping her foot
It was a forty five minute drive to the location where Sebastian was hiding with Holly. He told the police not to approach with sirens on, that he would come out of the house and be surprised, and it would take him off guard... he's also less likely to hurt Holly that way. Blaine wasn't sure the idea would work, but he had to trust that his boyfriend knew what he was doing when it came to Sebastian. That man needs help... he needs alot of help. Everyone in their group knows it... Finn and Puck think he should be in jail for attempted kidnap of a minor... he'd get at least ten years out of it... Kurt knew Sebastian would never survive in prison... not when they find out why he's there in the first place. For some reason, the crooks in jail, don't take too lightly to people who are in there for something to do with children. It's a little hypocritical, but no one else seems to be complaining. Kurt had been following the police cars, against his own wishes, but for the sanity of the officers... for the last thirty minutes, in silence. Blaine had wanted to drive, give Kurt time to recover, but as soon as Finn called the police, he was up and at it... wanting his daughter back was his priority at the moment... he's not sure how he feels about that... being left out of something this big by the man he's supposed to love? how can you compete with that? of course, Blaine wants Holly home safe... everyone does... but he also wants to know if his relationship with Kurt is going to be able to survive these events...
Even though they are sitting in complete silence, not knowing when Sebastian is planning to leave the house, Blaine can tell that Kurt is shaking. He's holding his boyfriend's hand, and he can feel it. Finn wonders if maybe this is going to tip Kurt over the edge, and Kurt just glares at his brother in the back seat, who shrugs and turns to talk to Puckerman about what they're going to do if the officers let them punch the barstard. Blaine has to laugh... he knows it's inappropriate, but he can't help it... Sometimes Finn and Puck talk about the stupidest things, and it cracks him up... Kurt's smirking, trying not to laugh, but Blaine can tell he wants to... instead, he leans forward, kisses Blaine once on the lips, and reaches around to swat his brother on the head, before turning back to watch the house where Sebastian is hiding. The officer watching the border is going to signal to Kurt, when to get out of the car, so he can try and convince Sebastian to not go through with whatever his plan is. Kurt is watching the officer closely, and notices the signal, quickly getting out of the car, and walking up the path, stopping just before the gate, as the front door opens. Blaine is beside Kurt, holding his boyfriend's hand, and the others are all watching from the car. Sebastian is startled when he looks up, spotting Kurt and panicking. He panics more when Holly spots her father and runs to him, Kurt embracing her, lifting her into the air, and hugging her tightly, Blaine, Finn and Puck watching. Sebastian doesn't move, but Kurt has to say what he came to say.
'Why did you do this?' he asked, placing Holly on the ground, with Blaine taking her hand, as he walked towards the blonde man
'Kurt... you don't understand...'
'Sebastian... if you had of been reasonable, I would have let you see her. Because of this, I'm not letting you anywhere near her ever again. You've only made this bad for yourself,'
'What went wrong Kurt? Other than me being an idiot..."
'Sometimes, it's just not meant to be! You need to stop hurting me... us...'
'I'm so sorry for everything Kurt,' Sebastian said, as the officers approached to apprehend him, giving Puck and Finn the chance to punch him once, before he was put in the back of the cruiser and taken away.
Later that night, when Holly was home and the celebration was over, Kurt set up the tent in the living room, and told Blaine that they were going camping. Blaine knew it was so he could keep an eye on Holly, but he didn't say anything, he wanted Kurt to come to him... to tell him what he was thinking. This was why, when Kurt handed him a folder, and a pen, and Holly was grinning like her father, he was a little cautious of what was about to happen... One grinning Hummel was enough, but two... something was going on. He opened the folder and almost fainted himself... Kurt explains that on the morning of the visitation trial two months ago, he had paperwork filed to allow Blaine to legally adopt Holly, and become her, for lack of a better term "papa". He had done all of this, without Blaine knowing about it, because he wanted it to be a surprise... so when Blaine had to take a moment to think about this, Kurt was a little upset. Understandably, he hadn't told Blaine that he was doing it, and it was a shock, but they had talked about it, and Blaine seemed interested enough... of course, the teacher thought they would be married... or at least engaged first... before all of that came about. Holly was still grinning, holding onto the pink bear Blaine had brought her yesterday, whilst shopping. Of course, the decision is only made harder when Finn and Puck wake up. They've been staying with Kurt and Blaine, paranoid about Holly... and they come grumbling into the kitchen, plonking themselves down at the table, and eating the food Kurt had so nicely prepared that morning... Blaine is still staring at the papers in front of him... he's not... actually he has no thoughts because he doesn't know what to think... honestly... he's kind of numb at the moment... probably a bad thing to say, but... he's in shock... and okay, maybe he's just realised why Kurt has been acting strange the last few months... and the hesitation isn't doing him any good, but he's... wow... he can't believe this is happening...
Finn is standing over his shoulder, reading the document, and practically bouncing up and down, congratulating him, and Kurt... but the designer doesn't smile... or move. He's staring at Blaine, concern written in spades across his face, and Holly's grin is more of a grimace now. Puck doesn't know what's going on, probably because he's buried in a plate full of Kurt's bacon, which he's uber obsessed with, according to Rachel. Finn notices the tension in the room, and breaks the ice with a stupid question, as to whether or not Blaine has lost feeling in his hands, because the pen is right there, and all he has to do is sign the dotted line below his name... unless he doesn't want to... which is why Kurt looks so... well upset is probably the wrong word, but let's stick with that. He can hear David's voice in his head "you know that eventually, you're going to have all these responsibilities to Kurt and Holly... you know that right Blaine? You might have been all in this before, but when Kurt hands you those adoption papers, and you honestly going to sign them?' he shook his head, wanting to rid himself of David and his negativity. Blaine knows when Kurt closes his eyes, that he's fighting back the tears... so he does what he's been trying to make himself do for the last thirty minutes... he literally jumps into Kurt's arms, hugging him tightly, making the designer stumble a little, before there is crying, and cheering and kissing, and something that vaguely sounds like Puckerman gagging, and Holly is talking a million miles an hour to her uncle about her papa, and Kurt tells Blaine's not to feel pressured... but he signs the papers, and tells Kurt that if he ever doubts him again... he'll be well punished... Kurt just smirks and raises an eyebrow... amused...
'Daddy and Papa...? Can Uncle Finn and I please watch a movie?' Holly asked, grinning along with her uncle.
'So, first comes the adoption... then comes... what? What's next oh famous designer boyfriend of mine?' Blaine asks, kissing Kurt once more, smiling
'I don't know... give me a moment to take all this in first,' Kurt replied, resting his forehead on Blaine's shoulder, still embraced by his lover
'You know I love you and Holly so much right? I just... I love you,'
'I know... I love you too Blaine,' Kurt replied... and Blaine knew he was telling the truth...
It was two weeks later when Kurt told Mercedes and Quinn that he plans to propose to Blaine when he least expects it. With the news of Santana and Brittany's wedding date, and Rachel's pregnancy, he felt as though his news shouldn't take away from that of the others. Quinn flat out told him to shout it to the world, fuck what Rachel would think, which made him laugh, and Mercedes just hugged him, and forced Kurt to tell her everything as it goes down. He just chuckled and promises they would be the first to know. They're out to lunch in the mall, Quinn is talking to him, away from the others, because she wants him to know that she knows how far he's come and that Blaine s the right choice for him and Holly. Kurt smiles and thanks Quinn for everything that she's done for him, and everything that she will do for him, and Quinn bursts into tears, promising to never be apart from Kurt or any of them for as long as they were again... she wants her life to have him and Blaine and Holly in it... and, surprisingly, she's actually become close with Rachel again... shockingly. Mercedes tells Kurt that she's happy for him, but to 'not wait too long to be happy'. Kurt just hugs her, and smiles, waiting for his best-friend to start crying like Quinn. Kurt takes a moment to himself, as they're eating lunch in the mall, talking about Finn and Quinn's delayed honeymoon to Europe, to close his eyes, and picture his future. Every corner his subconscious turns, the path always leads to Blaine... Blaine and Holly... it's like nothing else in the world matters at all to him... and part of him wants to keep those emotions inside, the other part wants to blurt it out to all his friends right now... but he can't, because Blaine is there, and he promised himself he wouldn't tell Blaine what was going on... just like with the adoption papers...
The next week, when school starts back up, Blaine seems to be content in the life they have at the moment. He's not worried about Kurt not loving him, because he does. He's not worried about getting married, because he wants Kurt to know that just loving him, and having him around is enough for him... even though Wes constantly tells him that it's not. It never will be, and sooner or later, Blaine is going to want to get married, and when it all falls apart, it will be one of those situations where no one can be saved... Kurt will fall to pieces without Blaine... David knows this... he's been hanging out with the designer more, so that Wes can get to know him, even though he's cynical of the relationship, he loves that Blaine and Kurt are happy with one another... he wants them to be happy... but Wes is stubborn, and refuses to believe that two people can have such a commitment in their lives, without a legally binding marriage. But Kurt doesn't know when the right moment to ask will be... their five month anniversary is coming up in a week or so, and he doesn't know whether that's the right time, or to wait until their six month anniversary... Puck tells him that he can't plan the proposal down to the last detail... it has to be spontaneous. They're the best proposals.. .the ones that no one sees coming... it's in the middle of the week, the day before their five month anniversary, that Kurt realises the perfect time to propose to Blaine. his boyfriend's album is due to be released the day after their anniversary, so he could do it at the launch, or before then... he doesn't know...
'Babe, what time is the launch party?' Blaine asks, as they're getting ready for bed later that night
'It starts at seven. Why?' Kurt replied, crawling into bed beside his boyfriend
'My aunt and uncle are going to be there. Oh my god, I forgot to tell you, that my aunt wants to like... adopt you as her son. She's so madly in love with our relationship... just like I am... I can't believe it's been five months... so much has happened... I never thought I would ever be where I am right now... yet, here I am. I love you, and thank you for the best-five months. If I had a glass, I would toast, but I'm going to kiss you, and promise you many more years...' Blaine replied, kissing Kurt and smiling...
'Marry me... ' Kurt asked, and Blaine stopped his movement down his boyfriend's neck, turning his head, so he was making eye contact with Kurt, who wasn't joking about what he'd just said, and to prove it, Kurt got onto his knees, and took Blaine's hands, asking him again
'Blaine Anderson, will you marry me?'
It seems wrong, to the understanding of the rest of the New Directions, as to why Finn and Quinn were taking their honeymoon now, and taking Brianna with them. She's barely three months old... in fact, she's not even two months old, and they're off... jest setting to Europe with her? Santana can't understand it, but wishes them luck none the less... after all, she knows they'll be back, because if they miss hers and Britt's wedding, she'll maim them. Quinn doesn't seem afraid, but Finn is... Then again, he's always been afraid of Santana and her... well... personality. Kurt, Blaine, Wes, David, Nick, Jeff and Holly had gone camping for the week, so they had said their goodbyes yesterday. Mercedes was still trying to contain her excitement, but her patience with Rachel talking about morning sickness was wearing on her nerves. She's about had enough. Once was bad, but twice... if they have to put up with pregnant Rachel for nine-months... someone is going to end up maimed on the side of the road, with a pole sticking out of their head. She knows that's dramatic, but she's an actress... what do you expect? Puckerman seems delighted that Olivia is going to have a brother or sister... Santana wishes that she could block out the incessant ramblings of Puck and Rachel and just focus on her wedding to Brittany, but she knows that's not going to happen and she loves that. She won't ever admit it out loud, but she loves that she has friends like that, who don't shut up, and babble on about stupid things... or in Rachel's case, just randomly talk for two hours about a topic no one else cares that much about in the first place.
To: Blaine Anderson
Please, tell me how to shut Rachel up without killing her and the little peanut inside of her?
From: Santana Lopez
Blaine chuckled when he got the text message from the Latina woman. Kurt read it over his shoulder. they had decided to get away for a week, whilst everyone was just going on with their lives... they wanted theirs to just slow down for a moment. Blaine kissed Kurt's cheek and thought up a reply for Santana, knowing she would be expecting one.
To: Santana Lopez
I would have thought, you would have many tricks up your sleaves for shutting up Rachel Puckerman? I'm surprised you don't have a strategy. Kurt thinks you should tell her something surprising that will make her stop talking...
From: Blaine Anderson
Santana looked at the message, confused, and showed Brittany, who just shrugged and linked their arms together as the exited the airport, having seen the Hudson family off on their trip. She wanted to ask Blaine what the hell he was on about, but knew he wouldn't tell her via phone... no matter how much she pushed. She sent back a reply, as Rachel caught up to her, and began asking her questions about the wedding... she was about ready to snap.
To: Blaine Anderson
Why? You know something I don't know? Please... Anderson come on. I'm the one who knows everything before if happens around here, so just... calm yourself down, and tell me how to shut Rachel up...
From: Santana Lopez
Kurt was smirking, eyebrow raised. For all the secrecy between them and the rest of ND, they sure were pushy when it came to wanting to know things about one another. Kurt whispered something to Blaine, and he smiled, turning his phone off, and standing to help Kurt. He would leave them all hanging because information that he has is more important than just telling someone over the phone and having them spread it to everyone else. Besides, maybe some things are best kept a secret... at least for now anyway...
A/N: Next Chapter: It's Santana and Brittany's wedding day. But that's not the only thing that's happening... Did Blaine accept Kurt's marriage proposal? Well, that will be revealed. Tina and Mike return, as do the other New Directions and Finn, Quinn and Brianna. Also, Santana and Brittany discuss possible locations to honeymoon, and invite Kurt and Blaine along as well... Why? Well my lovelies... you'll have to read and find out! Thank you for reading. Reviews are wonderful... thanks. JusticeIsn'tEasy0083. D.
