A/N: Hello. I've been so busy with Uni the last couple of months that I fell behind. But alas, my first semester is over, and now I can focus on this (and some new) stories. This chapter sees Kurt and Blaine get married. I didn't want to drag it out, so if it seems a little rushed, I'm sorry. This is the second last chapter. I have two more planned, but I don't know whether the next chapter will be the last one, or if there will be an epilogue. I just have to thank all the people who still read this story, and all the new readers and to all the people who review. I appreciate it, and I love you all. Enjoy. JusticeIsn'tEasy0083. D.
Chapter Twenty-One: I Love You
Kurt had been talking about it for weeks, but Santana had other ideas in mind for their wedding reception, that she knew Kurt would love. He's long since given up on the idea of the wedding he had pictured back in highschool. He hasn't spoken anything about it since, but he likes the idea that Santana will surprise him. He's a little worried that Mercedes, and Rachel are helping out, because he knows how much they dislike working with one another, and how hard it is for them to understand that they can both be right, and just because one isn't doesn't mean she sucks. Blaine had mentioned to Wes, which was a mistake, that he wasn't having any kind of bachelor party, that he and Kurt were just having all their friends together, and going out or something. Wes, being Wes, didn't like that idea, and contacted Santana to organise separate parties for the two of them. She had spoken to both Kurt and Blaine, who looked at one another, and laughed, before agreeing, but only if they were allowed to take pictures of their friends being drunk. Reluctantly, Santana agreed, reminding Wes that they weren't allowed to do anything to Blaine that would prevent him from walking down the aisle to marry Kurt. It was at that point that Wes did his creepy smile and walked off, leaving Santana to deal with the mess that was going on in the lounge room, with Rachel and Quinn arguing about which would be the better colour scheme. Kurt and Blaine had sat down and worked out a rough plan: the colours they wanted, the parties they wanted and the table seating charts. Santana, self-appointed Quinn to help her, but you know Rachel and Mercedes. Kurt had come up with an idea that he knew Blaine would love, and pulled his fiancée into the study to tell him about it.
When they came out twenty minutes later, Puck and Finn had arrived, and were playing play station in the lounge, which had forced the ladies into the dining room. Kurt shook his head, threw something at Finn's head, and went to see what Holly was shouting about upstairs. She and Olivia, although friends, had never really gotten along that well. Kind of like Rachel and Kurt, but so far, without the singing. They were arguing about who should get what doll, but before Kurt could say anything to diffuse the situation, Blaine was at the door, telling them that if they don't learn to share, and figure it out themselves, he's taking the dolls away from them. Kurt winked at Holly, who nodded, and let Olivia have the doll she was holding, before he pulled Blaine into their bedroom and pushed him up against the door, pressing kissing to his neck, and removing his layers of clothes... Blaine didn't complain... he didn't complain at all... Kurt was heading back downstairs to help Santana, when he heard Rachel talking to someone on the phone about their apartment in New York. He pressed himself against the wall, took a couple of deep breathes, and shook his head, forcing a smile onto his face. There's no way that he can keep pretending that he's okay with Rachel and Puck moving to New York. There's no way that he can deal with Sam and Mercedes splitting up, and moving to opposite sides of the country. But he does. He puts a smile on his face, and laughs and pretends that he's not hurting inside at the thought of them all leaving. In fact, he's mad at himself that he cares this much at all. They're allowed to do whatever they want. It's their lives. Santana grabs his arm and pulls him into the dining room, showing him her ideas for ceremony and reception. They had one week left to finalise plans, and everything was going down in New York, where they would be driving tomorrow, to stay for the week.
Nick had caught wind of Kurt and Blaine's idea for their parties, and was all on board for pitching it to Wes. Kurt just wanted to stop thinking about everything else for a while. He had gone ahead and booked out the large conference room at the hotel, which Blaine had insisted he use his trust fund money for, because he had it now that's he's twenty-five. Reluctantly, Kurt took the money, and was now sitting in the middle of the conference room, with chairs spread around, waiting for Wes and David, and the girls. He and Blaine had come up with the brilliant idea of switching friends for their "bachelor" parties. Kurt would go out with the Warblers, and Blaine would go out with the New Directions, this way, they could get to know each other more, and Nick really wanted to get stories about Finn out of Kurt. Blaine and Brittany had agreed to it, keeping on the down low, until now. Santana was surprised when she entered the room to find Wes, David and Thad sitting in front of Kurt. she joined Rachel and Mercedes on the other side of the room, and Kurt sat forward, smirking and winking at Santana, who had a fair idea now, of what was about to happen.
'Ladies, Gentlemen, Blaine and I have come up with an idea for our bachelor parties. I know that you want to do them traditionally, and I don't know what you've got planned, but I think you're going to like this idea.'
'What is it?' Rachel asked
'We're going to switch friends. I will go out with the Warblers, and Blaine will go out with the New Directions. This gives us all a chance to further get to know one another better,' Kurt replied, and Wes' mouth dropped open, before David smiled and stood up, extending his arm to shake Kurt's hand
'Agreed, we'll let the others know. Kurt, we'll come and get you at seven pm,' David said, following Thad and a still gaping Wes out of the room, whilst Kurt stood, smiling at the girls, who winked and told him they'd let Blaine know, before leaving the room... Kurt smirked to himself... Oh this will be fun!
Blaine was pacing back and forth in their hotel room. Kurt couldn't help but laugh when his fiancée told him that he's afraid of Puck and Finn. Kurt knew that it would be weird at first, but as long as Blaine gets the New Directions to the conference room at the same time that Nick and Kurt get the Warblers there, everything will be fine. The knock on the door made Blaine jump, before moving to answer it, leading David, Nick and Wes into the room to get Kurt, who stood, kissed Blaine, told him to be good, winked and followed the men out of the room, closing the door behind him. He'd text Puck and Finn earlier telling them to go easy on Blaine, because he's not used to them, and they promised, they wouldn't do "anything that would get him hurt" in that way that makes Kurt think that Puckerman has something planned. He pushes it out of his mind, as Nick leads him down the hallway to the elevator. He's glad that he has Nick on his side right now, because he doesn't know the Warblers very well, but apparently they're all really glad that they get to hang out with him, because they've been wanting to meet Kurt without Blaine for a while... and apparently the reunion doesn't count. Regardless, when they reach the lobby and head out the doors towards a waiting car, Kurt starts shaking a little, because even though he's close with Nick and Jeff, he doesn't have Blaine as a buffer, and he really doesn't know them all that well. Watch out New York... here comes trouble... he thinks to himself as Wes and David pile into the limo and tell the driver where to go. Kurt's not sure where they're going, and he doesn't ask, but he doesn't like the silence that has come over them. It can't be a good thing.
Blaine is ready for the knock on the door. Finn, Mike and Puck are standing outside, and they don't look too happy about the fact that Kurt changed the plans... or maybe this is a part of the act or something. Regardless, he follows them down the hall, to the left, and into the conference room, where Quinn and the other members of New Directions are waiting, with food and music and activities, which Rachel explains to him were a "favourite" back in highschool... Santana rolls her eyes, and turns the music on, pulling Blaine onto the makeshift dance floor. He hasn't dance in years, not since the Warblers, and he knows that they changed their plans at the last minute because Kurt can't really dance like this anymore. Remembering what Wes had let slip to him, he pulls his phone out to text the former head Warbler, only to have his phone taken away by Mercedes, who puts it in a box with the other phones, and moves it to a place where he can't reach it... then she smiles and joins them on the dance floor... he really hopes that Kurt can handle the Warblers... of course he can Blaine... he's a big boy... he can handle Wes probably better than most... he thinks to himself, taking a beer from Mike, toasting to the future. At eight, Finn enters the room, followed by three people Blaine doesn't recognise, but the rest of the New Directions, scream and run towards them. Blaine hangs back, and Quinn takes the lead, pulling him forward.
'Blaine, this is Mr Schuester, Mrs Schuester and Coach Beiste,' Quinn said, and Blaine remembered the man from their trip to Lima
'It's nice to meet you. Did you enjoy the trip?' he asked, and Emma hugged him, surprising him
'Blaine, it was wonderful and I can't wait to see you and Kurt get married. We've been waiting for this moment for many years,' Emma said, as Mr Schue and Coach Beiste hugged him too
'As weird as it sounds, so have I,' he replied, and Mercedes broke into an impromptu performance of Gold Digger, forcing Schuester to join in
The Warbler's limo stopped out the front of a restaurant, and Kurt got out, followed by Nick, Jeff, Wes, David and Thad. All of the other Warblers were mulling around the entrance, waiting for them. Before they had changed their plans to suit Kurt, Wes had gone and talked to Blaine. he wanted to be friends with the man who had saved Blaine... he wanted to prove to Kurt that he likes him and that they can be friends. Blaine told him about a restaurant in New York, called Natali's that Kurt had wanted to go to for years, but never had time to, so he'd called ahead and made reservations. He could tell that the designer was surprise they were here and even more so when they were led through to the back, where other Warblers and their partners were waiting. He also noticed three of his college friends, whom he hadn't seen since graduation four years ago. Kurt turned to Wes, thanking him, and following Nick to his seat, leaving Wes just smiling. He hadn't told Blaine exactly what they had planned, but the gag games they'd planned they would hold off on, until they joined back with ND at the hotel. This was just their dinner, and Kurt and Blaine have no idea what's in store for them later. Wes stood to order their drinks for them, and David broke into conversation with Kurt about what had made him go into fashion. Nick and Jeff were laughing about something, and Kurt realised they had brought photos of Blaine, which he demanded to see. The Warblers obliged, and stories about Blaine flew around the table, Kurt didn't even realise what the time was, or how much he'd had to drink. By nine thirty, they were back in the limo, still telling stories, and when they got back to the hotel, Rachel met them in the lobby, and led them to the conference room, where the New Directions were in the middle of a game of twister. Kurt smiled, and welcomed the Warblers to a New Directions party... let the games begin... Kurt thought as Santana smirked.
It seemed that the week flew by rather quickly. Kurt went to bed early on Friday night, in order to be able to get up in time for the wedding, not that he needed to worry. At seven, four hours before he had to really start panicking, his daughter and best-friend ran into the room, jumping on him and screaming that it was his wedding day, and that he needed to get up and start getting ready. Kurt rubbed the remaining sleep from his eyes, and sat up, squinting until his eyes adjusted to the light, before seeing Santana and Holly, identical grins on their faces, looking at him over the edge of the bed. Slowly, he got out of bed, and moved into the bathroom, locking the door and listening to Santana shouting at him from the bedroom. Holly was sitting on the edge of the bed, whilst Santana did her hair when Kurt exited the bathroom, dressed down in a casual shirt and jeans. The wedding isn't until twelve, and it's only eight thirty, so he has plenty of time to go downstairs to the cafe and relax until they have to start getting ready. He was about to call Blaine, when Brittany burst into the room, shouting that she had just been offered the job of a lifetime. She had been working as a dancer since she graduated but the call had been from Dancerama in Philadelphia, they wanted her to be their Head Dance Teacher, which would entitle her to run her own studio. Kurt smiled and hugged her, and Santana just winked, taking her turn to let Kurt and Brittany freak out of the exciting news. Of course she already knows, she's married to Brittany. There isn't much that she doesn't know about her wife. When they had settled down, Santana and Kurt gathered everything they would need, and headed to the location of the ceremony, where tents had been set up for the guests and for Kurt and Blaine to get ready in. It was eleven fourty five when Mercedes barged into the tent Kurt had been getting ready in, and hugged her white boy. Finn just smiled.
Blaine had never been more nervous, even getting ready was making him shake uncontrollably. When Holly went in to see Blaine, he just stared at her, and how beautiful she was. Santana winked from the door to the tent, and whispered that Holly and two minutes. She sat down beside her papa, and made him promise that he would always love her and Kurt and that he would never do anything other than love them for the rest of his life. Blaine just hugged her, and kissed her forehead, and she called him papa, told him she loved him, and ran to meet Santana, who told Blaine that he was needed. When he reached the makeshift stage that they would be standing on to get married, he noticed Finn, Puck and Santana talking in the corner, and that Mercedes was sitting in the chair by the door. He could hear Burt Hummel's voice behind him, greeting people, and telling them that he's a proud papa, and then Mr Schuester enters the tent with Emma, and Blaine notes that she looks stunning, as he is pulled over to the other side of the room by Wes, Finn and David, his three best men. At the back of the room, he sees Santana just outside the door, smiling at who he assumes is Kurt, but before he can sneak a peak, Finn tells him that he needs to return to his position, because Santana will hit him and it will be hard. Blaine laughs, but moves to his position, and Artie, who is their minister, stands smiling at him, and waves Santana, Rachel and Quinn into the fold. Kurt follows them into the room, and even though they're not doing the whole "walk up the aisle" thing, Kurt still looks amazing in his pressed black suit with Navy Blue tie, and hair coifed the same way he had it on their first date. He hugs Finn, his father and Quinn, before winking at Holly, who is their flower girl. Then Artie starts the proceedings, by asking them each to recite their vows.
'Kurt, we've only know each other seven months today, but I feel like I've known you my entire life. I hate that we didn't meet in highschool. We should have. I should've been there for you, and I feel guilty that I wasn't. But I promise that I will always be there when you need and want me the most. Even when you don't want me, I'll be there, right by your side. I promise to always love, cherish and respect you and Holly, and through all the highs and lows, you and Holly will always be my world. I love you Kurt Hummel, and to the day I die, hell even after that, I'll always love you' Blaine smiled, knowing that Kurt was trying not to cry, but seeing Santana and Quinn crying tears of joy behind his soon-to-be-husband.
'I've never, in my life, felt as secure as I feel right now. Damn it Blaine, I'm not going to be able to get through this if I start crying." Kurt said, and everyone chuckled "I never stop wondering, what life would've been like had we met back in highschool. But then I remember that I don't need a highschool do-over to prove to myself, or anyone else, what I feel for you. I have alot of wonderful, amazing people in my life, all of whom, I consider family, and I have Holly, and now... we both have you. I was afraid of my life for a long time. You come along, and I found myself doing and saying things unlike myself. But I can't ever imagine my life without you. I love you, and I promise, to the moon and back, in life and death, I'll always love you' Kurt finished clearly, smiling and watching Blaine, as he tried not to cry
'Ah, give me a moment! Okay, by the powers vested in me, by the state of New York, and the internet, I now pronounce you, husbands. You may kiss one another, whilst we all try to regain our composure's,' Artie said, cheering along with everyone when Kurt and Blaine melted into one another, sharing their first kiss as husbands
'We didn't bring enough tissues,' Santana said, as she hugged Quinn, smiling and clapping
Blaine had heard whispers of a surprise for him, planned by Kurt, Quinn, Holly and Santana. He's intrigued because he loves surprises, but no one will tell him anything about it, and it's the first time that Rachel has heard anything about it, by the look on her face... oops! Quinn and Brittany had been placed in charge of choosing their first dance song, because Kurt and Blaine couldn't make up their minds. The girls had gone for something loving and easy to dance to, by The Band Perry, called Don't Let Me Be Lonely. Quinn went through a country music phase when she was pregnant, and it rubbed off on Blaine and Kurt (not that he'd admit it). They swayed slowly to the music, whilst everyone watched, waiting until they were allowed to join them on the floor. Holly ran to her father's as soon as she was allowed to, Kurt lifting her into the air and laughing, kissing Blaine before the song ended, only to be replaced by something faster. Kurt went to get Holly some food, leaving Blaine dancing with Santana and Brittany. He made it to the food table, where Rachel was helping Olivia get some food, and took a moment to watch his new husband dancing with his friends, and smiling, before he felt Holly tugging on his jacket to get her some food because she was hungry. He chuckled, kissing his daughter, and handing her a plate filled with party-pies and sausage rolls. Kurt was heading back to the table, when he saw it... Finn and Blaine were dancing... together. He couldn't help but chuckle along with the rest of them, even Finn and Blaine, who was a little weirded out, but took Finn's warnings, the hug the taller man offered, before he was forced into a seat by Quinn, not seeing Kurt, Mercedes and Tina dart out of the room.
'Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a surprise for Blaine. for the first time, in almost ten years, please welcome, performing a song from Blaine's favourite artist, with the help of Mercedes Jones and Tina Cohen Chang, Unconditionally by Katy Perry, Kurt Hummel-Anderson' Santana said, as everyone's heads swung around to where Kurt was standing with Tina and Mercedes... singing...
Oh no, did I get too close?
Oh, did I almost see what's really on the inside?
All your insecurities
All the dirty laundry
Never made me blink one time
Unconditional, unconditionally
I will love you unconditionally
There is no fear now
Let go and just be free
I will love you unconditionally
Come just as you are to me
Don't need apologies
Know that you are worthy
I'll take your bad days with your good
Walk through the storm I would
I do it all because I love you, I love you
At the second chorus, Blaine joined Kurt, linking their hands, singing to each other as the world faded away and it was just them.
Unconditional, unconditionally
I will love you unconditionally
There is no fear now
Let go and just be free
I will love you unconditionally
So open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart
Acceptance is the key to be
To be truly free
Will you do the same for me?
Unconditional, unconditionally
I will love you unconditionally
And there is no fear now
Let go and just be free
'Cause I will love you unconditionally (oh yeah)
I will love you (unconditionally)
I will love you
I will love you unconditionally
At the end of the song, Blaine pulled Kurt in and kissed him, before pulling back so both could try to catch their breathe
'How long have you been able to do that? That was amazing. Look, Wes is still gaping in shock!' Blaine asked
'I'm not supposed to, but the doctor said it should be okay for one song, as long as I don't overdo it. I just, wanted to give you this. Sanny recorded it, so now we'll always have it' Kurt replied, smiling
Burt Hummel pulled his new son-in-law in for a hug, thanking him for everything he'd done in saving his son and granddaughter. Blaine promised to keep saving them, and thanked Burt and Carole for accepting him into their family. Then Carole hugged him, happily kissing his cheek, before taking her husband's hand for a dance. Holly was showing her uncle how to dance, much to the amusement of Quinn and Mercedes, who were watching from one of the tables set up for guests. Blaine took a moment, to look around the room. Alot of the Warblers had shown up, and some of his friends from college, Kurt's friends from college, and all of the New Directions, including Mr and Mrs Schuester. Blaine's aunt and uncle had come late, and looked worried, but nothing could spoil the mood he was in. He knew that his parents had gotten their invitation, but he didn't expect them to come. He knew that they wouldn't, which is why, from where he was sitting, he didn't expect to look up and see his parents enter the room, followed by his aunt, who stopped talking the minute Blaine saw her. He almost sprinted towards them, when he saw Holly approaching his mother. He wouldn't let her tear that little girl apart. Kurt was... well he didn't know where Kurt was at the moment, but he couldn't have gone far, because Santana was back, and she had gone with Kurt to check on something. He bent down, and scooped his daughter into his arms, standing in front of Brendon and Anita Anderson, his parents, who were... smiling and had tears in their eyes? Elisha, Blaine's Aunt, mouthed the word sorry to him, and headed back towards her table, which he noticed now had two extra places vacant.
'No sweetie, you can't get down yet,' Blaine said, coming to stop in front of his stunned parents, internally sighing with relief when Kurt appeared beside him
'Blaine, we heard that you were getting married. Elisha hid us in the back at the ceremony, but we had to come see you. You must be Kurt, I'm Anita. I love your fashion line,' Anita said, shaking Kurt's hand, before pulling him into an awkward hug, which was repeated by Blaine's father, who also shook Kurt's hand and then hugged him
'Thank you. Do you need me to take Holly?' Kurt asked
'No, mom, dad, this is Holly, our daughter,' Blaine said, smiling when Holly introduced herself excitedly, leading Anita and Brendon to their table when Blaine put her down... Kurt pulled him into a hug, and he hadn't realised until then, that he was crying
At about eleven o'clock that night, the Warblers and the New Directions, with their families and a couple of other friends, gathered at the airport to see them off on their round the world honeymoon. Holly was bouncing up and down, excitedly telling her aunts what she wanted to see and what she would be doing. Kurt and Blaine were talking to Burt and Carole, promising they would write and when they got home they would call. Quinn hugged them both, pushing something into Kurt's hand, telling him that it that everyone would be here when they got back, and that's a promise. He smiled, kissing her cheek, and picking up Holly as their flight was called. They waved until the last possible moment, leaving all their friends and families behind as they boarded a plane for their trip. Santana clutched onto Quinn, happy that Kurt had finally found someone who will always love him and Holly, and who they can love like a brother. Puck, refusing to let people see him cry, was hiding his eyes in Rachel's shoulder as she hugged him and Olivia. They had no idea what the future held for them, but Kurt, Blaine and Holly would never again have to experience loneliness. They'd always have each other, and of course, they'd all be friends forever...
A/N: Next Chapter: Kurt and Blaine come home from their honeymoon/holiday, and all the New Directions and Warblers meet them as promised, before heading to the Puckerman's house for a welcome home party. Brittany is working at Dancerama, and Quinn is happy to hand the reigns back to Kurt and Hudmel-Lopez and Co. We see flashbacks of Kurt, Blaine and Holly's holiday, and at the end of the chapter there is a time jump... but you'll have to keep reading to find out how far forward we go. ;). Enjoy and review if you like! JusticeIsn'tEasy0083. D.
