To Gwen Stacy

It's winter now and the nippy wind forces everyone save the ice skaters indoors, not including Spiderman, that is. Peter Parker stands in front of a snow-covered tombstone, his shivering, pale fingers clasped around an envelope without an address. The woman's grave is compatible with grey demeanor of loss.

There is nothing left in this world for him but Aunt Mae, yet what about Spiderman? It was a fantasy, a fool's childish game. Here lies the grave of his beloved girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, a beautiful girl who saved his life, despite the fact that she didn't possess any sort of powers.

His tears fall onto the snowy ground and the snowflakes touch the tips of his red nose. He sets the letter down solemnly, kneeling in front of her tombstone.

Dear Gwen,

Life has been quite a lonely and dismal journey without you. I haven't fought crime for several weeks now, just missing you. I wish you were here to be with me.

I only have Aunt Mae and we both are all alone, without my father, without my mother, without my uncle, and without you. Your passing has left me wondering: could it have been prevented?

If I had made sure you were fastened securely to the vehicle, would you have been safe, out of Electro Man's way? Would Harry have even known you were dear to me?

Perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps I ought to have let you fly to England for a safe journey to your new career. I was so selfish to have made you stay with me. If only I could take it all back. If only I could have let you leave. All I know now is…I love you, Gwen. I'll never forget you.

With more love than you can fathom,

Peter Parker

Peter stands up and turns to leave the grave, but decides to remain here. He hugs the tombstone and cries for her. "Peter Parker, young man. What are you doing out in the snow like this?"

He turns his head to see the most lovely, aged face he's ever known. "Aunt Mae?"

"I'm sorry, Peter. She was a lovely girl," she says with a forlorn expression and takes her nephew by the hand, pulling him. He gets to his feet and embraces the kind, old woman.

They leave with heavy steps, but Peter looks back once more at her grave. Farewell, Gwen. May you rest in peace.
