Chapter 16: New Friend

The nurse said that it was just a sprain. She was allowed to skip the rest of the day as she stayed at the clinic to take some rest.

While Mikan was sleeping after her friends left, little did she know that a pair of hazelnut eyes was watching her.

Mikan woke up with a start causing her sprained ankle to hurt.

"Ow." She softly complained as she sat up.

"Are you alright?" Said a guy with hazelnut eyes and a blond hair. His eyes and voice were filled with worry.

"Uhm. Yes." Mikan shyly replied.

He sort of reminds me of Ruka pyon. Mikan thought while staring at this guy.

"Oh sorry. Hi, I'm Kaname – Kaname Sono. I was also brought here just before you." He scratched his nape while giving off his naturally beautiful smile.

Mikan slightly blushed.

"Hi. I'm Mikan – Mikan Sakura." Mikan said as she offered her hands. Kaname took her hands and shook it gently.

There was silence between them until Mikan broke it.

"I hope you don't mind me asking but why are you here?"

Kaname took this as a sign that he could sit on Mikan's bed.

"Uhm... I just, well," he chuckled beautifully which made Mikan's heart beat faster, "fainted." He sheepishly grinned at Mikan.

"Oh." Was her only response for she was so captivated by this guy's attitude and smiles.

Mikan! What the hell are you thinking? Love at first sight is impossible! Mikan mentally slapped herself.

"Oh?" Kaname repeated what Mikan said, a little bit shocked that that was her only response.

"Oh." Mikan concluded which made both of them laughed softly.

"Hey, Mikan. I hope you won't mind but what's your class?"

"4-B, you?" She said, smiling.

"4-A."

Kaname was about to chat with Mikan more but Hotaru arrived. Hotaru gave a who-are-you glance at Kaname before turning to Mikan.

"Mikan, let's go." She said as made her way to Mikan.

As Mikan was about to stand, they both noticed Mikan winced.

"Are you okay? Can you stand?" Kaname helped Mikan right away which made Hotaru look suspiciously at him.

"Keep your hands off her." Out of nowhere, Natsume suddenly appeared, glaring at Kaname.

"Sorry." Kaname muttered as he slowly let his hold on Mikan go.

"No need to be sorry, Kaname-kun!" Mikan smiled brightly which Kaname replied with a shy smile.

"Baka. Can you walk?" Hotaru said.

"Yes." Mikan said as she slowly walked, wincing every now and then.

"Let's go." Natsume said as he walked to Mikan and helped her.

Before they went out the door, Mikan looked back and smiled at Kaname.

"See you soon, Kaname-kun!"

"Hmm!" Kaname replied, noddi ng.

Is he her boyfriend? Kaname couldn't help to ask himself.
