Reminiscence 15 - Cruel ending
Whenever they are not in a mission, the members of Genei Ryodan are free to do whatever they want. Some of them spend their time in leisure, some are accepting outside missions and some of them are spending their time in their old headquarter in Ryusei Gai.
One time, all of them got a text message from an unknown client, asking them if they want to take a job for him, telling them that it would be a job that they surely should not let loose and instructed them to go in a certain place at a certain time if they are interested and that more information will be given to them once they arrived.
Curious at what might be the client's job for them, the whole troop of spiders which are Feitan, Phinks, Machi, Nobunaga, Shalnark, Pakunoda, Franklin and Uvogin went to the instructed place, not caring if it is a trap or not as they are very confident in their own abilities.
The meeting place is on the top of an abandoned building in an eastern country and all of them arrived half an hour before the appointed time. All of them minded their own business as they waited patiently for their client to arrive until they saw two figures jumping from one roof to another toward their direction until they arrived to the building they are standing on, in front of them.
"Now, now," came from the man with dark messy spiked up hair, looking at them with his pale blue narrow eye, smiling at them as if being friendly. He appears to be the same age as Kuroro. He is even wearing almost the same black attire of Kuroro, the black long-sleeved, buttoned shirt and the black trouser.
Standing beside him is a younger girl with brown, wavy hair and green eyes. She is wearing a knee length black dress, black stockings and black shoes. (Do they know any other color that black?)
"You don't have to look at us like that," the dark haired guy said calmly, stating the glares from the other spiders, specifically Machi and Pakunoda. "We are here to deliver a message and to guide you to a certain place."
"Which is?" Machi asked coldly, still glaring at them.
"Before that, I have to ask you a question."
"Shouldn't you introduce yourselves first?" Pakunoda suddenly spoke.
"Oh! Of course," the dark haired man smiled, "I am Nero and this is Chairo. We are acquaintances of Lucifer, your leader.
"Acquaintances?"
"That's right, and our message is actually from Lucifer himself. Now, let's proceed to my question," he paused, looking at them for a while. "Do you know anything about the Kuruta clan?"
'Kuruta?' Machi asked to herself, she doesn't have any idea about the matter so she looked at the other spider to see if anyone had an idea, but like her, the others are also looking at each other, ignorant at the subject matter. Then she looked back at the man with a glare that promises danger.
"It seems that you don't have any idea," Nero said.
"Get to the point," Machi said in annoyance.
The friendly smile of the dark haired man never left his face as he explained to them the subject of his question. "The Kuruta clan is a group of people that live in obscurity in the Province of Rukuso. In times of anger, or emotional agitation, the color of their eyes turns flaming scarlet and that color remains eternally in the iris at the time of death. Those scarlet eyes are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World."
"Scarlet eyes, eh," Uvogin wondered. "I never thought something like that exist in this world."
"What is that to do with Danchou's message anyway?" Nobunaga asked this time.
"The message is short," Nero started. "Get the scarlet eyes. It's up to you how will you obtain them, but be careful not to damage the eyes. They are too precious to lose their value."
"So this is a 'treasure hunting', huh?" Ubogin said in excitement.
"Finally, a more exciting mission," Feitan smirked.
"So you are going to lead us to their lair?" Franklin spoke up.
"That's right," Nero answered. "Now, if you don't have any question, let's get going. We cannot waste our time dilly dallying here."
Before they started jumping from the roof they were standing on to another, Machi bitten her lower lips in response to her bad intuition, but nevertheless, she followed the group. 'Something is not right,' she thought to herself.

It was a secluded and hard to find place, hidden in the mountainous area of the forest. Despite that, the people living here are content on what they have. They are even glad that they can peacefully live in that kind of place without being bothered by those filthy rich people who know nothing but greed. Choosing to live in this kind of place is the best for them. They would not allow living with those people and risk themselves being killed because of their unique attributes.
How devastated they were when their peaceful lives came to an end. Although they have suffered once from an attack before, but managed to survive, they never thought they would face something like those… those…. Although they are good in combat, they are no match for them. So cruel, so merciless, so ruthless and the list goes on. They are monsters.
It was a cruel ending for them. Their body lay unconscious on the ground with gashing wounds all over, and more than that, their eye sockets are empty. Their prided scarlet eyes were taken off from them. Then, a fire had been set. Swallowing everything as it spreads and turning the corpses into ashes.

"That Nero guy took all the duty of dealing with the scarlet eyes so we don't know whom he made negotiation with and it turned out to be the mafias."

After all the negotiations on the scarlet eyes were done, the spiders proceeded to their usual headquarter in Ryusei Gai. They decided to wait for their Danchou even though they are not sure if he would come or not. He always disappears after every mission after all. He did not even show himself in their mission. But nonetheless, they still have the feeling that he will come somehow.
"What do you think Danchou is doing?" Nobu suddenly asked.
"How would I know that? Danchou is hard to predict," Uvogin answered.
"It must be something terrible," Feitan said as he smirked. "He left us with an exciting hunting after all."
Machi watched the three as they talked about the 'exciting hunting' they had experienced. Actually, Machi didn't really felt excitement from hunting the Kuruta clan. She is still keeping her feeling that there is something wrong about that mission. She looked at the other corner of the room and walked toward the two still silent spiders.
"What do you think about the mission we did?" She asked when she is just a meter away from them.
"Nothing in particular," Pakunoda answered. "But I never thought we would discover something like that."
"Those two are suspicious," Franklin stated. "You should have used your memory reading ability on them.
"I also have a bad feeling about the matter," Machi added.
"It doesn't matter anyway. Those people have no concern to us," Pakunoda said nonchalantly.
Machi sighed at that and about to say her agreement when familiar footsteps are heard from the outside of the spacious room they are staying. Not long after, their Danchou entered the room, but proceeded to the other room connected to it without looking at anyone as his head was slightly down casted, letting his bangs cover his eyes. When he was about to open the door, he suddenly called Pakunoda with his monotonous voice.
"Yes, Danchou," Pakunoda answered.
"I have a job for you," He said and entered the room.
Understanding her Danchou's worlds, Pakunoda followed Kuroro into the room and closed the door. After several minutes, Pakunoda went out and looked at the people around her as those people are also looking at her with an obvious expectation in their eyes.
"We have a mission," she started, "but before that," she raised her hand with a gun and shot the bullets to each of the five spider straight to their forehead.
Images of people suddenly projected in their mind, but one figure made the clearest picture. It is a bow of about 17 years old who greatly resembles the girl named Chairo along with his brown hair and green eyes. He is wearing the same clothes as Nero (it must be their uniform). Standing behind him are people wearing a black ninja outfit. They are standing in front of the entrance of Ryusei Gai, talking with none other than Kuroro Lucifer and Gale Altair.
"Our target," Pakunoda said as the effect of her nen had gone, "the boy with the jade eyes."

"It cannot go out of my mind," Machi continued. We received a job offer from an unknown client, but, those people brought us a message from Danchou, telling us to get the scarlet eyes. I just thought: why would Danchou use someone else to as if offer us a job? Everything seems to me in a disorder."
Crossing her hands over her chest, Kurapika put herself in contemplation, thinking about a certain matter. It was about the conversation she overheard while sneaking in one of a mafia's mansion. But her thought was cut by an incredulous question.
"Will she also become a new spider?" That caught everyone's attention with a frown on their faces (except Kuroro who, as usual, put up an indifferent expression). The question was from the kid that Kurapika was looking a while ago. According to Hisoka, he (Shouldn't it be a she? He is wearing a Kimono) is a member of the Zoldyck family, which must be the reason why Kurapika looked at him, first hand.
Kuroro smiled slightly at the question and about to say something as well as Kurapika, but before they can even voice their answer, a wild disagreement was bellowed.
"That can't be, Danchou! I can't accept that, and how about my revenge for Uvo!?" Of course, that was from Nobunaga.
"Don't worry samurai san, that will never happen," Kurapika said coldly.
"Spider or not aside," Kuroro cut in, "forget your revenge Nobu. Anyway, let us get to my part."
With that, the spiders put their attention on their Danchou. Nobunaga pursed his lips, but nevertheless, alerted himself for Kuroro's next words.
"This concerns Gale Altair." So Kuroro told them about him and Kurapika becoming companion and their plan to hunt Gale down and of course, their plan of collecting the remaining scarlet eyes. In addition, he explained to them about his nen, about Kurapika being bound by Gale's nen and that Kuroro accidentally released her and how they came into terms to become companions and go after Gale Altair.
In the end, Nobunaga never had the chance to take his outmost want for revenge. Poor Nobunaga…
