Previously on TFDE; Emily goes to Spencer for advice when she thinks Hanna is cheating on her.
Emily's Pov
"Step one" Spencer says, pointing out her index finger. "Be confident and make sure she knows that other girls like you"
"What other girls like me?" I raise my eyebrow.
She gives me a dumb look and pauses. "What?" I ask
"I don't know.. Paige!" She points out
I find a laugh escape my lips, "What?"
"Come on Em, it's pretty obvious"
"Okay, but I'm not going to like.." I shrug, "I'm not going to flirt with her. That will hurt Hanna"
"I'm not saying to flirt Em," She says, "I'm saying just to make sure Hanna knows that your wanted. Plus that red head in our 4th period seems to look at you a lot"
"What else?" I ask
"We'll get to that, Em," She said, "The point is to push Hanna away just a little, and she'll come running back to you"
"What if this goes bad.. And doesn't end well?"
"This will end up with her coming back to you," She said, pretty certain.
"How are you sure?"
"Because I know Hanna," She said. And before I could of said anything else she says, "Okay, step two.."
Hanna's Pov
I couldn't help myself. I need someone to talk to, I can't keep all this in me. I'm not even sure what I even feel. I drive all the way to Spencer's house, and once I came by her sidedoor to her living room, I see her and Emily. Emily looked sad and she was speaking to Spencer. I can't be seen. I turn around right away, accidentally brushing myself against the bushed as I ran to my car.
What can they be possibly talking about?
I drive until I stop. I look up and find myself at Aria's house. I grip on my steering wheel and open the car door. Step after step, I feel some sort of anxiety. I knock on the door. It took a while till the door opens, but Mike opens the door. "Hey, Aria here?" I ask
He turns his head and yells, "Aria! Hanna is at the door!" He turns his head back to me, "She'll be down, you can come in if you want" He steps aside and lets me in.
I go up on the stairs that lead to Aria's room. On the way there, Aria steps out of her room and sees me, "Hey" She said
"Hi" I quietly say
"Everything okay, Han?"
"Not really," I said, "Can we talk?"
She nods her head and opens the door to her room. I walk in behind her, walking towards her bed. I sit down on her bed and she grabs her chair from her computer desktop and sits near me. "Okay," I start. "Every since Caleb came back.. I don't know. I been so confused and just the other day he tried to kiss me.."
"Wait he tried to kiss you?" Aria cuts me off
"Maybe.." I shrug
"You know Emily loves you a lot, right?" Aria pointed out
"Of course I know that!" I said, "But, I just .. Now he's back, I don't know. Old feelings are coming back. I find myself thinking about the old times and.." I slowly stop..
"And what, Hanna?"
"I find myself thinking of him when I kiss Emily. There. I said it" I said. And damn, it feels better saying it out loud.
"Caleb know you and Emily are together right?"
"Yea.. He kinda walked in on us-"
"Okay, I don't need to know that," Aria cuts me off, once again. "Don't you think it's kind of bad of him to do that? He knows you guys are together. Maybe you should keep distance?"
"I can't just do that," I shake my head, "After everything him and I are going through-"
"Went through," She said
"What?"
"You guys broke up a long time ago. Everything you think you are 'going' through, is in the past" She said. Holy shit.
I didn't know what to say. A part of me thinks she's wrong, but a whole bunch of me thinks she's right. My eyes wander around her room and I found interest in staring at the floor. "Hanna," She says, and I look back to her, "Don't you think that maybe.. You're in love with the memories?"
"I.. I don't know.." I never really realized that, "What do I do?"
"I personally think you guys should just be friends"
"I tried," I said, "That didn't work"
"Okay. Well what I also think is, that you should keep your distance away from him" She said, "Your relationship with Em isn't going to be well if he's in the picture"
"Okay," I said, "I'm going to do that"
I need to keep myself away from him. I love Emily.. I know I do..
Emily's Pov
Last night really helped me. I sit at the lunch table, studying for the upcoming Astronomy test. I look up and see Hanna walking towards me, "Hey babe" I greet.
"Who's that?" Hanna turns her face to me. "Who's who?" I asks, sounding clueless. Which I was at the moment.
"The red head that's practically eye sexing you right now." Hanna's voice turns stern. The plan was working. She was getting jealous. I look up to the red head and the red head winks at me. As much as I just want to roll my eyes and ignore it with no interest at all, I had to out up an act. I give an awkward small smile to the red head over Hanna's shoulder and waves her fingers weakly at her. I look back at Hanna who's already giving me a weird look.
"Okay" Hanna chuckles. I feel her hand intertwine with mines and I feel myself smiling down at it. She moves her face closer to mine. I feel her breathing lightly next to my ear, "Remember when I told you I'd make it up to you that time a few days ago?"
I feel my face heating up, and I shake my head 'yes'. "Well come over after school?"
I turn around and face her. Our face is close and she's biting down her lower lip, just looking at me. I lean in.. "Hey guys" Spencer says then I move away from almost kissing her. Seeing Spencer reminded me again about her advice. To push Hanna away a little and Hanna will be running back.
The bell rings and lunch is over, "See you later, okay?" Hanna said, as she walks away. I nod yes. Aria and Hanna walk away to class together, leaving me and Spencer. "Don't forget the steps" Spencer said
I sigh. "I won't.."
