Battle For Glory
Epilogue: Parting Ways
On the hot air balloon, Alistair smiled, "So who do we drop off first then? It's been a long time since we've all been home that I can imagine most of you want to go to your respective home towns."
Ragnar smiled, "I'd like to go home first I think."
Alena nodded with a hug to the older knight, "You're always welcome to visit any of us. We've all travelled together, so the chimaera wing will work the same for you to bring you anywhere we are."
He hugged her back and nodded. "I'm glad, I look forward to it once things settle down."
The ride was quiet as the kingdom appeared in the distance. Airlia turned to the older knight. "Thank you Ragnar… for everything you've done to help us… for everything you've done to help me."
The knight smiled and nodded. "You're welcome lassie. You're more than welcome."
When they landed, the group walked into the kingdom as cheers erupted wildly amongst the people. They followed the path into the large, beautiful castle. Soldiers stood at attention on either side as a king stood at the end of the path. Ragnar walked forward and kneeled before the king. "Majesty, I have returned. The monster kind will not seek to harm us any further – so we must not attack them either."
The king smiled and nodded. "I agree. I will speak with Femiscyra and Strathbaile about doing the same. It's time that the wars come to an end. You've done well noble Ragnar. I hereby dub thee Lord Ragnar McRyan of Burland. I will be bestowing you with a reward to ensure that if you wished to retire, you could do so comfortably at any time with the thanks of the entire kingdom and world."
The knight blushed as he nodded. "Aye, but I still have many years of service left in me still my king. Once I wish to retire, I will inform you."
The king nodded before turning to the others of Ragnar's group. "By the Dragon God… I never thought I'd live to see peace amongst the world. Thank you – all of you. You're all welcome here to visit at any time you wish. You will have royal chambers within the castle to house you for any stay."
Everyone bowed courteously as a unified response came from them, "Thank you, Your Majesty." After biding Ragnar goodbye for the moment, the group left to return to the hot air balloon.
Alena smiled, "Can we go to my home next? I want my father to be able to know that things are done and to set forth his decrees." She also wanted to talk to her father about her love for Kyril. The tsarevna didn't want to marry anyone else… just him.
Kyril gave his love a small smile. "It'll be alright Alena, you'll see."
Borya nodded, "Agreed. We'll make sure of that tsarevna. I promise."
The ride was quiet and uneasy as they slowly approached the giant castle of the seer king. Going inside, everyone started applauding the group as they walked forth towards the stairs and up to the throne where the king sat with an expectant smile. "Welcome home my daughter… Kyril and Borya – thank you for your services to Zamoksva."
Borya bowed as did Kyril while Alena approached. "Father, monsterkind will no longer seek to attack us, can you spread the word amongst our land to not attack them? It will keep the peace amongst all of us."
He nodded, "I will my darling. I'll also send word to our friends over at Canalot." The Tsar turned to Kyril. "Kyril, approach please."
The cleric hid his concern and worry as he approached with a bow. "My Tsar, I'm glad I could help Alena with her journey. There has been much hardship on the way… but at last it's over."
The Tsar held his hand out for his friend. Once Kyril had placed his hand there, he took his daughter's hand and placed them one over the other and circled his hands around them. "You are a loyal servant Kyril. I dub thee Lord Kyril as I dub Borya Lord Borya of Zamoksva. You two thought you were able to hide your affections well because of your station… but you guarded my daughter carefully. You helped to restore my people and I to being able to walk around, to be seen and heard again. It may have been Psaro who actually restored it, but you helped to get everyone to that point. The least I could do is grant you title and give you permission to marry."
Alena smiled widely as she hugged her father first before embracing her love. "Thank you daddy!"
Kyril was bowled over as he clutched his love tightly to him. "Thank you Your Majesty. I promise, I will always love and cherish her."
The older man shook his head. "I know you will. We will have our wedding after the Prince of Ballymoral and the Princess of Endor do. This way they can attend if they wish." He turned to the others of their group, "Anyone who wishes to attend merely need come and we will welcome you with open arms. You will have a room within my castle. Thank you all my friends."
Airlia smiled as she leaned against Alistair, happy for the pair and how everything was finally turning out. It was the way things had been meant to be all along… without the agony of the woman dying. "Congratulations you two. Make sure you send us invitations. We'll be there!"
Alena nodded to the woman. "You got it. Thank you for everything Airlia… Alistair… everyone."
The group respectfully bowed out, wanting to give them time to adjust, time to be together in quiet. Once back on the hot air balloon, Airlia turned to the sisters. "I think it's time for your home before we take Torneko home. We still have to bring Alistair's people back to their home after all."
Meena nodded as she hugged her friend. "It won't be long before we come to visit you at your village. We just want to tell our father that it's over… the world is at peace. Our lives haven't been there in a long time."
Alistair nodded with a smile. "Take all of the time you need Meena, Maya. Our village will grow now that we don't have to hide anymore. None of us do."
Maya nodded, "Right, and we have to speak with the Marquis to make sure he makes the decree and shuts down Mamon for good."
The ride was quiet as Rose leaned against Psaro who kissed her forehead. "Soon we'll be there… and you'll have a nice little house, no more fears and you'll have a family… you… me… our daughter…"
She smiled and nodded, "I can't wait my darling. And we'll have our friends. That makes me so happy my love."
The silver haired elf nodded, "It makes me equally happy my sweet. So happy my darling."
They arrived at Aubout de Monde quickly as Alistair landed the hot air balloon. When they got out of the balloon, it was almost a solemn walk towards a small house along the back and the grave in the back where the sisters bowed politely to it. "It's over father… you can rest now that your murderer is dead. The world is at peace… and the secret of evolution will be a forgotten thing into the past that will never see the light of day. For evolution is always occurring… but now it's at the rate it should be rather than forced to happen faster. Rest easier now papa."
Both kissed their right hand before the hand was placed to the grave. After it was over, they bowed politely before turning to the others. "Have a safe trip. We will be there before long Alistair." Meena said as the two sisters left the town without a second thought.
The now much smaller group loaded into the hot air balloon before it lifted up into the air. Alistair looked at Torneko, "I'll leave the balloon and the wagon with you, for any travels you may need to do in the future. Please take good care of them."
The heavy set merchant nodded with a smile. "Thank you kindly Alistair. It will be of tremendous aid to me."
The ride was quiet, almost anxious to get to Endor so that the last of the decrees could be made and word could start passing around the world. So that life could start again for everyone of the tiny village in the mountains and for monsterkind alike. Upon arrival, they went inside as Torneko immediately ran to his home to embrace his wife and child again who were waiting in the center of the town as the King approached and smiled at the pair, relieved that they kept their agreement. "Well done Lord Alistair, Lady Airlia. You have kept your promise ten fold and the world seems to be at peace for once."
Alistair bowed and indicated Psaro and Rose, "We couldn't have done it without them. They were instrumental to everything… and now the monsterkind will not seek to attack us any further so long as we do not attack them. Could you kindly spread word through the many kingdoms and towns to our east and south? Word has already been spread around through the kingdoms and towns to the west and north."
The king of Endor nodded. "Gladly. I will also spread word through the region of Ballymoral to the north since we are in an alliance with them. Thank you all for all that you've done for us and continue to do."
Psaro bowed politely as a large group came from around the corner to see Alistair, Airlia and Richard standing there. "Thank you kindly Your Highness. I just want to live a quiet life with my love and wife Rose."
The mayor of the small town that Alistair was from came over, "Well our village is small, but you're welcome to live there with us. We have some expanding to do to account for others on your journey who may want to come want witness things."
The silver haired elf smiled and nodded. "We'd love that very much. Why don't we go now to the village so we can begin expanding and building?"
The man smiled and nodded, "You and your lady wife may use my home or the inn while we build your home immediately so that it can house you and any future children you might have."
Rose smiled happily. "And we will also want to build a house for Airlia and Alistair…"
Alistair's father smiled as he nodded, "Yes, we certainly will. I'm happy that this has all been fixed now. At last, the world is at peace and we don't have to fear another attack anytime soon."
The group slowly left the kingdom to begin the long trek home… there was a lot to do in the coming months before things would settle down at last. And in time, Rose would give birth to a beautiful silvery pink haired girl named Cynthia. Airlia would end up giving birth to a baby girl named Jessica and boy named Angelo... both would have her eyes and the boy would have her brown hair while her daughter would have her father's mop of unruly green hair. And they would live happily ever after.
The End
