Chapter 9

Stand Up to Cancer Part 1

It's been what? Three of four months now since I updated this story. I have completely forgotten who has auditioned, and who hasn't. Anyhow, that aside, I am placing mostly everyone in New Directions, and anyone who isn't will be shortly. I do remember two things, one, I had an assignment titled Favorites, but I have completely changed it, and two, I am determined to finish this story, even if it takes me to the end of season five (or longer) to do so.

Also, as I worked on this chapter, I listened to The Quarterback, in which now I wish I had waited to listen to for my memorial chapter a few chapters back. So question is – should I re-write it by adding more to it, or should I leave it as?

[Tayson]

"Tay," I hear Violet shout, as I stand by my locker and was about to grab my history books for Mike's class.

"I've been looking for you all morning," she adds with a smile, and tucks her trapper-keeper underneath her arm, as though someone would be stealing it, in which, I had doubted.

"That wouldn't be hard since we live in the same house," I tell her, as I grab my history book, and then shut my door.

"That's not what I meant Meat head," she tells me, as she then digs out fliers for something. I wasn't sure as to what was going to happen next.

"Vi, do I even want to know what those are?" I ask curiously, as Kris, a girl who had recently returned to New Directions, walked up beside me.

"Well yeah, it's this thing that the theater department has decided to do, and I would like to see more students pitch in and help," she tells me with a smile, more in a better you better do it or else.

"Now I'm curious," Kris chimes in happily. Then Violet decides to show us the fliers.

"Stand Up to Cancer, what is this all about?" I ask, as I read the fliers.

"It's an organization that helps with breast cancer, celebrities do it, high schools are doing it, and it gives money to research," she tells us.

"That sounds great, I would be happy to post a flier in the health room, and see if I can get anyone involved in there," Kris speaks up happily.

"Thanks, that would be awesome," Violet tells her as she hands Kris a flier, and then the bell rings.

"Tayson, Dinger is coming over tonight, so you can expect an eighties movie night," Violet tells me, as Kris heads to class. I secretly missed hanging out with her in the music room and auditorium, but I had made up my mind, I wasn't going back to that room. After Blake, and Daz left, the room just doesn't feel the same, even with my two best friends in it.

[Nathan]

Won't you come see about me?

I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

I hear a girl singing, as I walk past the music room. I had no clue who she was, but she sang beautifully, so I decide to stand in the doorway, and listen to her sing.

Tell me your troubles and doubts

Giving me everything inside and out and

Love's strange so real in the dark

Think of the tender things that we were working on

Then I sing the next part, as I had noticed that she had come up to it.

Slow change may pull us apart

When the light gets into your heart, baby

"How long had you been standing there?" she asks me, as she stops but doesn't look up at me.

"Long enough to know that you sound great," I tell her, as I walk in and take a seat in one of the empty seats, that had been beside the piano that she was sitting at.

"Thanks, but I'm a lesbian," she tells me, then she turns around.

"I wasn't asking about your sexuality, I was saying you sounded great," I tell her, as I smile, and reveal my dimples a bit.

"You know the song, so have you ever seen the movie?" she asks me, as she gets up for a minute, then she places some her dyed hair behind her ear.

"Nope, old movies don't interest me much," I answer her truthfully.

"I'm Violet," she tells me. "I think I've seen you at the LGBT meetings. You sit in the back. Right?" she wonders as she finally places where she had seen me.

"Yeah, I'm Nathan, and that's right," I tell her, as my eyes meet hers.

"Well I should be getting to class. Mr. Schue will murder me, if I don't show up on time," she tells me, and then leaves. Only after she left had I realized that she left her sheet music for Seasons of Love. I grab the sheet music, and place it my bag, so I would be able to give it to her later at the meeting.

[Bradley]

The weight room had been occupied by a few football team members. Jordan hadn't showed up yet,and that was good. I head straight for the bar, and start working out when suddenly he walks in. Shit.

"So how is that bet going?" he asks coldly, and then smiles that icy cold of his.

"You know damn well I won't ask, so stop forcing this shit," I tell him, as I get down from the bar, and shove him back.

"What the hell man?" he asks, as he seems shocked from the push.

"No. Don't even talk to me, we're through, and you even though we're on the football team, we don't even talk, we just throw the ball at each other. Got it," I order just as coach Turner comes over.

"There a problem here boys?" he demands, as he looks us both in the eyes.

"No coach," I tell him, but we all knew he knew it wasn't true.

"Good. Now go warm up, we have a game on Saturday to win," he tells us, as he throws the football at us.

"She's not at cheering practice, and Sue won't like that," he tells me, trying to get me to crack, as he tosses the football at me.

"What did I tell you?" I ask him, as I toss the ball back at him.

"I know, but we both know that you're going to ask her anyways, and besides you two have chemistry, homecoming king and queen quart," he tells me. Damn why did he have to know my weak spot so well. Then I remembered that we've known each other since we were in second grade.

"Fine, if it makes you happy, I'm in," I tell him, as I catch the pass, and I toss it over the post.

[Conner]

"Hey Conner wait up," I hear Abby Puckerman call out, as I leave the library. I only had one class with her, and I liked her. Not in that way though.

"Ab what's up?" I ask curiously.

"You showing up for rehearsals tonight?" she asks, as she pulls a flier out of her backpack, and held it so I could see it.

"Yeah, as far as I know anyways," I tell her, as I seemed confused.

"I have tutoring to attend to, but Violet asked that I give to someone who is attending rehearsals tonight to give this to Mike," she tells me.

"What is it?" I ask, as I take the flier, and then read it.

"It's this Stand Up to Cancer thing that Violet wants to do at the Homecoming game, at halftime, and wants as many people she can get," Abby tells me, as some of the other Cheerios walked by, as though this would be gabfest later.

"If Vi wants people to this, than I am so on that wagon," I tell her, as I fold the flier, and place it in backpack.

"Violet has us two," Abby tells me. "I don't know about anyone else," she adds with a smile.

"So is this the newest couple?" I hear Alexa Henderson ask as she walks out of the girls bathroom.

"Umm no," I tell her honestly, though being Alexa, she would come back with something, and that is exactly what she does.

"Oh Doctor Who Wannabe, I wouldn't want to date her either, then again, I'm not gay, and I'm assuming you're not either, unless, you're like every other gay boy in this school, and hiding it," she tells me. I couldn't tell her like most teenage boys, I was confused about my sexuality. Sure, there was Maia, who I adored, and I was sure had a crush on me.

"Well toodles kids, I have class to get to," she tells us and walks back to class.

"Can you keep a secret?" I ask, and then smile at Abby.

"I'll keep yours," she tells me with a smile, as we are the only two in the hallway.

"I think I'm gay," I tell her, as the bell rings, and the students in the library walk out, headed to their library. She just smiles. I hope that she keeps my secret.

[Gwen]

"Gwen," I hear Tayson call after me, after soccer practice. I smile at the ground so he couldn't see me.

"Do you want to grab a milkshake, or something?" he asks innocently, as he grabs his Hollister hoodie, and places it on over his head.

"Tayson Grohl, that sounds like a great idea," I tell him, as I grab his hand, and then quickly let go.

Sorry to end this on such a short chapter - I really did want to make this longer, but I wanted everyone to know I was still alive.
Ok, so next chapter I WILL have a lot more POV's, and hopefully updated before three months for now.
Yaay for Glee returning tomorrow night. I'm not really a big Adam Lambert fan, so I'm not sure as to how I will feel about it.
