A/N: Yessssh we're so close to double eviction time. I lose my mind over double evictions, :P. So anyway, we got a TON of reviews for last chapter, with mixed feelings which is amazing, because if everyone walked away with a smile on their face it wouldn't be Big Brother!

Thanks for the reviews 3

Yoshpa Kong: Erm, sorry I confused you? Lol. Koops is a testament to endurance, and how much one can persevere. He's a strong character, and I'm slowly falling in love with him. Talk to Joker about joining the Toad Hate Club. Thanks for the review as always ;D

TheJoker21: I was not aware you actually watched Big Brother. We must gossip soon :P Anyway, you've been leading the charge against Toad for a while now, will he go home, or will he slip out of the clutches of eviction once more?

RockinBros: While three alliances would make sense, I didn't really want Spike/Toad/Koops steamrolling the game, because Spike's kind of bland and everyone hates Toad. Junior's just a power hungry kid who's really control-obsessive, which I can see how that makes him annoying XP

Flashfire912: Will Spike even be able to get out of said hole? And what is it you want to tell me? Thanks for the review!

ultimateCCC: Thanks for going back and reviewing some old chapters! You're waiting on Polterpup, and you might have to wait a good while, but I'm planning a very difficult and wondrous Luigi's Mansion challenge for late into the game.

Jaytheking: Oh hello! How are you? A new reviewer whose read everything AND NEVER REVIEWED! TRIAL BY FIRE! Just kidding :P I'm not going to murder you. Thanks for the review and all of the kind words! It means soooo much to know that there are people reading this story who aren't reviewing, it means I have a larger audience than I believed. Flurrie, Koops, and Dry Bones are my favorites as well :P

CielFury: Well then, Welcome Back! Yep, Toad's a train wreck when it comes to competitions and his social game is a mess so he's kind of screwed, unless a miracle happens, and I always have a miracle happen :P Taking Spike or Toad to the end would be a really good move because anyone would win against them. Maybe some of the others will begin thinking long term? Hmm?

TheInexplicableOne: Another new reviewer! It's a Christmas miracle! Thanks for reading my work and loving it, it means a ton! GASP! It cannot be…a fan of Toad? I knew some of you existed, this is glorious indeed! Thanks for the review!

Yoshette: *Revives you* The Wrecking Crew is no more and the Four Winds blow over the Big Brother house for now! See, that's where smarts come into play. It's more beneficial to get rid of Spike since he's a threat, but Junior might play emotionally. I currently don't know who I would pick to win if Junior and Koops were in the final two. And that last line made me emotional XP Thanks for saying all of that stuff and the emotions you feel, it makes me feel really proud of this story!

PuzzlingGamer: I couldn't have said it better myself! With this double eviction coming up, will the Four Winds blow down the house? Or will they turn on one another?

Krazikoopaz: Everybody loves Koops! Will he prevail or be sent packing? I have no idea XP I still can't make up my mind on how I want all of this to turn out! Thanks for the review yet again!

As Junior claimed the throne, Spike began to feel unwelcome in his alliance of three.

"I'll play my game however the hell I want," Junior got a bit cross.

"Listen here, boy," Spike puffed out his chest but Dry Bones intercepted.

"Now is not the time to lose our cools," the skeletal koopa instructed, "We have to work together to get one of them out this week."

Spike: They better watch it. Ever since I, that's right, I formed this alliance, no one's been paying me any mind. Anything I suggest is swept under the rug without so much of a thought. Well, I've got news for them!

As the construction worker lost his cool, he held a secret meeting with Koops and Toad to undermine the rest of the house.

Toad: If we can take the numbers after this week from 3-3 to 4-2, why not? It guarantees both Koops and I a place in the final four!

"If we do this," Koops swallowed his words, "Then you have to swear you won't turn on us."

"I promise," Spike clenched his teeth together, "I'm sick of those fools."

But when Toad opened his mouth to Jojora, the reporter felt betrayed and called a house meeting to flush out the snakes.

"Oh no," she croaked, "You two said we could trust you."

"I know…!" Koops cried but was cut off.

"Flurrie!" Jojora screeched, "Junior! Everybody, inside!"

Toad: I wish Spike had never thought of dragging Koops and I into his convoluted drama. He needed to work out his issues with Dry Bones and Junior and not use Koops and I as weapons.

As Jojora forced Toad, Koops, and Spike to reveal their machinations, Junior and Flurrie led the charge to pull away and form a brand new alliance of four, dissolving the Wrecking Crew once and for all.

"Enough," Dry Bones snapped, "The Wrecking Crew is terminated."

"So, what are we to do?" Toad looked helplessly at Koops.

"You're to come with me," Spike barked, "These two are apparently unstable as all hell. They just up and destroy alliances, friendships, and bonds when something doesn't go their way."

"Well," Flurrie batted her eyelashes, "You may oppose the HOH, but I shall not."

"F-flurrie!?" Jojora was awfully confused.

"Oh, don't be foolish, dear," Flurrie winked to Jojora, "I say we join them!"

"Say," Dry Bones smiled, "That's not a bad idea."

"So wait!?" Koops cried, "This is it? Four on three? The lines are drawn?"

"Sounds about right," Junior nodded. "I'll be up in my HOH room if anyone needs me." The son of Bowser rose from the pristine, white sofa and trudged upstairs, Dry Bones quickly following. Flurrie and Jojora shared one last look with Koops and Toad.

In the HOH room, Flurrie dubbed the new alliance of four the Four Winds, and they got to work picking out a target for the week in Spike.

"We need a name," Dry Bones laughed, "Now that the Wrecking Crew's been wrecked."

"How about the Four Winds?" Flurrie smiled, "The North Wind, The East Wind, The South Wind, and The West Wind."

"The Four Winds," Dry Bones mulled it over.

At the nomination ceremony, Spike felt safe but didn't realize the Four Winds had set their plan in motion to oust the construction worker once and for all.

"Spike," she said, removing the key and handing it to the man, "You are safe."

Spike breathed a sigh of relief and took the key, sitting back down and bunching up his suit in the process.

Junior looked at Koops and Toad, both of whom lacked keys and were thus this week's nominees.

"As you can see," Junior placed his hands together, his red ponytail bobbing up and down on his head, "I have nominated you Koops, and you Toad for eviction. I have done this because I believe it's the best thing for the house to do. I wish both of you luck in the veto competition."

Tonight, six houseguests compete for the power of veto! Who will win, and will it be used to remove Koops or Toad from the block? Find out tonight on Big Brother!

Episode 17: Bowser's Big Blast

As the nomination ceremony came to a close, neither Toad nor Koops were surprised to see themselves where they were. Being on the outs after Spike's backfired plan, they had suspected to be eliminated. Rising from their seats, they hugged each remaining houseguest, fulfilling the ordinary customs.

Hugging Flurrie, Koops looked a bit defeated, but the grandmother smiled at him.

"Koops, baby," she reassured him, "It's not you I have any quarrel with. Spike and Toad don't sit well with me. You've had a tough time ever since you walked in this house."

Koops: I…of course I've had a tough time! I'm normally so shy and sheepish, but I can't take this much longer. I've been a beaten piñata ever since I walked through that front door!

Jojora hugged Toad, and then stood by Flurrie's side as everyone went their separate ways. With a careful eye she witnessed Dry Bones and Junior slink into the storage room for a private conversation.

Inside the storage room, Junior and Dry Bones high-fived, celebrating yet another week of power.

"This is great," Dry Bones whistled, "One of them is guaranteed to go home. We hold the numbers from this point onward."

After his sentence, Jojora came into the room, breaking up their celebration.

"What's going on?" Jojora asked a bit oddly, wondering if the pair had been conniving.

Jojora: Since Spike's outburst, Flurrie and I have partnered with Dry Bones and Junior, but I still don't trust them as far as I can throw them. There are five guys in this house and two girls, which does not sit well with me.

"Let's see what's going on in the kitchen," Junior suggested, and he left the room, leaving Dry Bones and Jojora behind.

"I trust you, Dry," Jojora seethed, "I trust you not to flip on Flurrie and us. If this is some plan you have, and Spike is some double agent, I'll be pissed."

"Cross my heart," Dry Bones promised with a pun, running his fingers over his rattling ribcage.

Rolling her eyes, Jojora pushed open the door and exited the room, leaving a smug Dry Bones smirking to himself.

In the kitchen, Spike munched on some cold pizza while the others filed in. Toad and Koops had gone to the tiny room they shared, hoping to get away from the rest of the house.

"Thanks, I guess," Spike looked at Junior, "For not nominating me."

"Well," Junior scratched the back of his head, "No…problem."

Spike: I don't think for a second that I'm safe. They just don't want to give me an automatic ticket to the veto competition.

Finishing his snack, Spike bid everyone goodnight and went to his bedroom, waddling away in the black and white penguin custom. Everyone had grown accustomed to it by now, so no one made any remarks as he stomped away in his heavy boots.

"Do you think he knows?" Junior asked Dry Bones, who choked a bit.

"He's not an idiot," Flurrie slowly blinked, "I'm sure he's figured it out."

Flurrie: Spike's a volatile player. He'll switch on anyone if it's to his betterment, which could certainly be an ace Jojora and I could hide up our sleeve.

Bidding one another goodnight, the remaining players broke off to their bedrooms for some peace and quiet. Junior went upstairs to the HOH room, and Dry Bones brought some blankets and pillows up there to sleep on the couch. He didn't feel comfortable sharing the room with Spike, for fear of it being a bit too awkward.

In the tiny yet elegant room, the koi happily snacked on fish food while a glum Toad poured in the flakes.

Toad: I can't believe this is happening to me again! I just can't keep my mouth shut at all!

"We've got the veto," Koops suggested, but Toad shrugged of the thought.

"Regardless, you're my main ally in this game," Toad sighed, "One of us is going home, and the other is soon to follow."

"Just don't think that way," Koops shook his head, "What if we win and they nominate Spike. He'd be easy to campaign against."

"It's just hard staying positive," Toad shook his red cap.

"You think I don't know that?" Koops asked, a bit shrilly, "We had it all Toad! We had Vivian, Shokora, and Plum. We were the largest alliance in the house and we all failed to work together!"

"…," Toad was a bit stunned.

"Just work with me for once! Every single member of our group that's gone home has been dejected and downcast before leaving. I've been through the grinders multiple times in this game, but have I given up?" Koops implored.

Toad stuttered, not really knowing how to reply.

"If your sinking your ship," Koops spoke with a chilled calm, "Fine with me. But just know that on the day of the veto, I intend on kicking some ass."

Koops: If anyone has reason to sulk, it's me, but I'm not. Toad needs to man up and face the facts that his game isn't over until he says it is.

In the women's room, Flurrie undid her earrings and took of her coral necklace, changing into a gossamer nightgown to sleep in.

"You think this'll work out for us?" Jojora asked Flurrie, implying the Four Winds alliance.

"Depends," Flurrie pursed her lips, "We're the swing votes. We can go with Koops and Toad once this week is done and stomp out Dry Bones and Junior, or stick with them in the end."

"Who do you think would win?" Jojora said.

"Either one of us would win against Toad," Flurrie explained, "But Koops, I'm not so sure. He's fought a tough battle, and that could earn him votes out of respect."

Jojora: The time has come in this game to start thinking about who you'd rather send to jury. Plum and Di are already there, and that's two votes for Flurrie or I if we only one of us makes it to the end. We need to fill the jury with votes for us, and make sure the people at the end will be hated by the jury.

In the HOH room, Junior shot a sly smile at Dry Bones, who looked rather pleased as well.

Junior: I feel amazing right now. Koops and Toad are sitting pretty on the block, like ducks waiting to be shot. It's just a matter of time before we knock every last person out of this house!

"Try and get some sleep," Dry Bones advised, "We have a big day tomorrow. We need that veto to make sure backdooring Spike goes all according to plan." Agreeing with his ally, Junior turned out the lights and the two sunk into sleep.

In the morning, Spike was first up, as it had been since day one. He brewed a batch of hot, black coffee, no sugar, no cream. The smell of the roasting beans woke up Flurrie, who floated into the room with a groggy expression on her face.

"Spike," Flurrie smiled, "Where's the cream, dear?"

"I don't use cream, I haven't a clue," Spike told her, and the actress frowned.

"Here it is!" She cried, finding some in the cupboard, "Excellent." She poured a bit of cream into the coffee, turning the color from a rich blackish brown to a frothy mocha. Sipping the coffee, she smiled.

"Spike," Flurrie addressed him once more, "Now, call me crazy if you must, but what compelled you to turn on Junior and Dry Bones? You were in the seat of power!"

"Power doesn't matter to me if my opinion is disrespected," Spike objected, answering her question truthfully.

"Hmm," Flurrie considered his statement, "And you think Koops and Toad value your opinion to a greater extent?"

"Not really," Spike shrugged, "They're just votes on my side."

"You think Koops and Toad would vote for you at the end of the game?" Flurrie arched an eyebrow.

"I don't think anyone would, to be honest," Spike spoke a bit glumly.

Flurrie: Why in Grambi's good name would I get rid of Spike or Toad? Both of them have next to no friends in this game, so sitting next to them at the end would be an absolute cakewalk to the money! I must consider this!

Flurrie found Jojora in the cabana room, reading a book from Di's horror collection.

"This is pretty grisly," Jojora commented, "It's called the Kelen Castle Killings."

"Well put the book down, dear," Flurrie remarked, "We need to have a chat."

"What's going on?" Jojora seemed a bit anxious.

"Nothing you need to worry your pretty head about, my dear," Flurrie soothed her, "But I had a chat with Spike, and he made a valid point. No one's going to be handing him 500,000 coins at the end of all of this."

"You've got a point," Jojora mulled it over, "But he's unpredictable. It'd be a much better bet to take Toad over Spike."

"Yes, I thought you'd say as much," Flurrie stared down into her coffee, "Well then, we have our target. Rid of Spike, keep Toad."

"Sounds good to me," Jojora shrugged, and she opened the book back up and resumed her reading while the mauve wind spirit floated from the room and sought out a place to sun herself in the backyard.

In the kitchen, Dry Bones and Junior were cooking breakfast.

"Now," Dry Bones instructed the student, "Just lightly glaze the Mushroom with Honey Syrup, and voila!"

Heeding his instructions, Junior did the required task and soon, they had a batch of glistening honey shrooms on their hands. The delectable treats looked delicious, and they doled them out onto plates, accompanying each shroom with a slice of Heartful Cake that Dry Bones had whipped up last night.

"Sweets?" Flurrie asked, eyeing the plate when Junior brought it to her in the back, "This early? Hmm, well, if you say so!" The actress kindly took the plate and thanked Junior. He returned inside and took the next one to Jojora while Dry Bones headed to the room Toad and Koops shared. He balanced three plates, one for Toad, one for the koopa, and one for himself.

"I come in peace," Dry Bones smiled, opening the door and seeing the two chatting on the bed, "And I bring gifts."

"Honey shrooms and cake?" Koops asked, "What's the occasion?"

"The occasion is, well, I still care about everyone despite the bad blood we've shared," Dry Bones explained, "I wanted to whip up some treats to let everyone know that."

Dry Bones: The words I shared with Koops and Toad were true. I still care about everyone despite what's gone on in this house, and if a few yummy snacks can improve my relationships with people, then no harm done!

Koops: Dry Bones wins his way to people's hearts with food and pretty words, and then when you least expect it, off with your head! He's crafty, and I need to watch out for him in the future.

"So?" Dry Bones asked the pair, "What do you think?"

"It's delish!" Toad cried between mouthfuls of cake.

"I was talking about the way the game has unfolded," Dry Bones made himself a bit clearer.

"Well," Toad chewed on some shroom thoughtfully, "I don't think it's fair Spike dragged us into his convoluted little web."

"And I certainly don't think I deserve all of this after how hard I've fought," Koops pointed out.

Dry Bones pondered their words for a moment before responding to them. "I think neither of you are in any immediate danger provided Spike doesn't win the veto. He's caused trouble for everyone, he's a common pest of the house!"

"But if he goes, we're screwed," Toad threw up his hands, having set the plate down.

"Not necessarily," Dry Bones corrected the college student, "Just keep calm and don't stir the pot this week. If my calculations are correct, Spike will do all the work for you."

His mysterious words left Koops and Toad in a cloud of doubt, but the skeletal chef left them without answering any more pleas.

"It's time to pick players for the veto competition!" Junior roared, stepping out of the diary room and pouncing into the living room. The six others collectively pooled into the living room, and Koops and Toad sat down in the uncomfortable bamboo couches. Seated on the left plush couch was Jojora and Flurrie, while Spike and Dry Bones sat down on the other.

"Only six houseguests will compete in the power of veto competition," Junior read the card he had been given, "Myself, the two nominees, and three houseguests selected through random draw. Will the two nominees please join me up here?"

Obeying his command, Koops and Toad rose from the chairs and warily approached Junior and the box before him.

"As HOH, I will pick first," Junior explained, dipping his hand into the box and pulling out the chip.

"Jojora," he said, and the blue fairy rose with a smile and joined the other three up in the front of the room.

Dipping his hand into the box, Toad removed the next chip.

"Spike," he read, and the construction worker rose with a sly grin and joined them.

Junior: I'm up there with Toad and he pulls out Spike's chip. Ugh! Why couldn't Flurrie or Dry have been picked!

"Dry Bones," Koops said, revealing the chip he had pulled. Dry Bones joined the other five, which meant that Flurrie would be hosting the competition.

"Big Brother will inform us when the competition is to begin," Junior explained, "Until then houseguests, good luck!"

In the HOH room, Jojora and Flurrie sat in the bed while Junior stood up in the center of the room, snacking on some chips. Dry Bones had his legs crossed on the couch, awaiting what the others had to say.

"If he wins this," Junior shook his head, "He'll take off one of them."

"Then one of us has to go up," Dry Bones nodded, seeing the frustration in Junior's eyes.

"Which one?" Jojora asked, a bit panicked.

"It'll be you," Junior said to her, "I'm not nominating Dry, and you were slated to be the pawn before this Four Winds business went down."

Jojora looked a bit stricken, but wordlessly accepted his statement.

Jojora: I think it's utter crap that he won't nominate Dry Bones. If this were an equal alliance, he would nominate Dry to show us that we can trust him. As far as I'm concerned, Flurrie and I have our backs and no one else's.

"Who do you think he'd take down?" Junior asked.

"Koops is a more valuable ally than Toad," Flurrie pointed it out with a bored breath, "Toad brings nothing to the table, sweetie."

Understanding the truth in her statement, Junior tried to calculate the rest of the situation but Dry Bones beat him to it.

"If it's Toad and Jojora, that'd be Spike, Koops, myself, and Flurrie voting. It'd go 2-2, and then Junior would break it. We'd come out on top, so it's fine," Dry Bones spoke a bit rapidly.

"I'm just not comfortable being the pawn," Jojora sighed, "I've been nominated before. Dry Bones had never been on the block, not once."

Dry Bones' bones paled a bit at the mention of that. He had been hoping to conceal his lack of times on the block.

"He's my main man," Junior protested, and Dry Bones cringed.

"So you're saying you're more loyal to Dry than to Flurrie or I?" Jojora inquired while Flurrie inspected her nails, taking note of the conversation but staying away from the conflict.

"Well isn't that kind of obvious?" Junior suggested. Dry Bones looked even more pained by this.

"It's different when you actually say it," Jojora laughed nervously.

"How?" Junior shot her a quizzical and annoyed look.

Junior: I don't know who Jojora thinks she is, but if she wants to get on the bad side of the HOH, be my guest!

Emerging from the diary room, clad in a koopa shell and horns, Flurrie spoke through a voice-changing loudspeaker.

"Houseguests!" She roared, "It's time to test your mettle in the veto competition!" Everyone came to the living room and laughed at her ridiculous get up, and the actress got into character as she dramatically pounded her way outside and led everyone into the backyard.

The backyard looked like a junk garage. Spare parts and steam valves pounded and hissed in every direction, and a metallic rust hung in the air. The air itself tasted like cool steel, and the houseguest shivered with apprehension. In the middle of the garage rested a massive mechanical Bowser head, and before it lay six pumps of a different color.

Rising to her podium, Flurrie announced the instructions as the others precariously observed the changes of the backyard.

"Houseguests! In this veto competition, the object is to be the last one standing. When it's your turn, rise to the pavilion and pick a pump. Push down the lever, and hope yours isn't the one that triggers the big blast! If you cause the bowser head to explode, you will be eliminated! Each round, as one player is removed, one pump will be removed. We'll draw for spots, does everyone understand?"

After a collective reception of understanding, Flurrie drew the spots and determined the random. The pumps were white, purple, green, red, blue, and yellow from left to right, and the first houseguest stepped up to pick a pump.

Spike frowned. This was all luck, and that didn't sit well with him. However, he had drawn the first spot, and picking first gave him the greatest statistical chance of winning. Looking down at his shirt and noticing its blue hue, the construction worker selected the blue pump and shoved the lever down.

Nothing happened, and the bowser head blew out a column of steam from its nostrils, signifying Spike's clearance. Happily stepping down, Spike took a spot at the back of the line while Jojora stepped up to the pavilion to pick her pump.

Selecting the red in honor of Di, the blue fairy pressed it down and closed her eyes. The Bowser head blew out a jet of smoke, and the reporter was able to pass to the next round.

"Both Jojora and Spike have passed the first round! Will Dry Bones slide by or cause a big blast?" Flurrie rhetorically announced.

If his bony structure had allowed him to sweat, the skeletal koopa would've been drenched. He wasn't a fan of situations he couldn't calculate, so when he picked the yellow pump, he hoped he had done well.

But he wasn't in luck, for the eyes of the metallic head slid back and revealed the number three. It counted down to one, and then exploded.

"Sorry Dry Bones!" Flurrie cried, "But you have been eliminated!"

The remains of the head and the pumps disappeared into the sliding floor, and out popped a new row of pumps and a fresh Bowser head. With five competitors left, the game progressed to round two as Dry Bones unhappily sat on the sidelines to watch.

Spike went first, eyeing the pumps. His strategy was to stay with what he started, so he pushed down the blue pump and waited for the head to explode.

But it didn't, and as the smoke blew, the burly man pumped his fist in ecstasy.

It was now Jojora's turn, and she waltzed up to the pavilion with a keen eye. She did the same as Spike, and picked red.

She should've chosen her own strategy, because the eyes rolled back and the mechanism exploded, sending Jojora careening out of the competition.

"Sorry Jojora!" Flurrie chimed, "But you are out of this game!"

"Figures," Jojora huffed as she sat down next to Dry Bones. Neither Junior, Toad, or Koops had had the chance to go yet, and Spike returned to the pavilion for a third time. Picking blue, his constant strategy paid off, and Junior had to take on the whims of luck for the first time this competition.

Red and yellow were out, and since Spike had picked blue, just white, green, and purple remained. The young koopa kid pushed down the green pump, and was relieved to see steam shoot from the nostrils of the machine.

"Both Spike and Junior are safe!" Flurrie commented on the game, "How will Koops and Toad fare?"

White or purple, Koops had two choices. Picking the one down on the end, the letter sorter pushed in the white lever and waited for his fate to be determined.

After an excruciatingly long pause, Koops cheered within as smoke flew from the mechanism's nose.

"Really?" Toad asked no one in particular, "Do I have to go?"

"I'm afraid you must," Flurrie instructed, and Toad rolled his eyes as he shot up the platform, shoved down the lever, and watched his hopes of winning the veto explode.

"Toad! You are out! Sorry!" Flurrie cried, and the college student unhappily took his place next to Jojora.

It was down to three. Spike, Junior, and Koops. One would win the veto, and the fate of the game would entirely shift depending on who won.

Stepping up, Spike grinned. Blue had been faithful to him, and picked it once more.

Lady Luck favored Spike this day, as blue proved successful once more and the steam from the bowser head blew out in a signal of victory. Just Junior and Koops remained. Sauntering up to the platform, Junior eyed both pumps suspiciously.

He picked green once more, and was sorry he did. The numbers counted down in the eyes of the automaton, and Junior was blasted out of the game.

"Sorry Junior, but you have been eliminated!" Flurrie cried, and the college student crossed over to where all the others sat on the side.

Dry Bones: It came down to this moment. If Spike was successful, the plan to backdoor him would fail and Toad would go home. If Koops won, the plan to backdoor Spike would be in motion.

Spike stepped up to the platform, and looked at the blue lever one last time. It had served him well, and he stepped up to it and yanked down the lever with a powerful grip, knowing it would carry him to victory.

He waited for something to happen, and the pause on the machine made the drama intensify. He watched, sweat creasing on his brow as it glistened with the hope of a second shot in this game. The eyes of the head remained motionless while the nostrils gave no sign of shooting smoke.

Would he win? Would he lose? What would become of his fate in the game. Spike was shaking like a leaf despite his strong disposition, and everyone sat on pins and needles as the result was delivered.

KA-BOOM!

The bowser head exploded into a million pieces, and Koops jumped into the air with a victorious pump of his fist.

"Yes!" Koops cried, "Yes!"

Spike nearly fell, but he held onto the pavilion for support. Gliding off of the platform, Flurrie took the golden veto and looped it around Koops' neck.

"Congratulations Koops!" Flurrie cried, "You have won the power of veto!"

Koops: Take that suckers! That's another competition for Koops! I'm starting to lose count!

Junior: When that ghastly bust of my dad exploded, I was so relieved! With Koops holding the veto, he's going to save himself and leave a nice empty chair for Spike to sit in!

Spike looked aghast. He had been so close to winning, but had failed. Shakily stepping down off the platform, the burly followed everyone to the door, made it a few steps, and collapsed.

"Whoa!" Junior cried, whipping around and seeing Spike on the ground, "Spike! Spike!"

"What has happened?" Flurrie asked, seeing the fallen man. In her Bowser suit she raced to his side, tossing off the costume in horror and fanning the man.

"Medic! We need medical!" Flurrie shrieked, "Someone get out here!"

One of the side doors on the backyard, painted to look invisible, opened and a toad with a purple cap rushed out. He quickly strode over, asking Flurrie and Junior to back up while the others looked on. The medic put a hand to Spike's neck and forehead respectively.

"He's in shock," the medic deduced, removing a towel from his bag, "Someone run this under cold water." Flurrie snatched the towel from his hand and moved like the wind, summoning her ethereal powers and gliding into the house through the walls. A cold wind rushed over the house, and everyone trembled as the felt the power of one of the last wind spirits. In no time at all, Flurrie had returned with the rag and dabbed Spike's forehead while the medic assessed him.

Using a flashlight, the medic probed light into Spike's eyes, and the construction worker came around.

"W-what happened?" Spike asked, his heart rapping inside of his chest at a great alacrity."

"It's alright," Flurrie soothed him, "Everything's fine, it's alright." The medic gave everyone instructions on what to do and how to act if Spike showed anymore symptoms. Giving the man a bottle of pills, the doctor left as quickly as he had appeared.

"You were in shock," Flurrie explained, taking Spike by the arm and directing him inside, "But everything's fine now. Why don't you lay down and I'll whip up some soup."

"Oh, that's fine," Dry Bones smiled, "I can do-,"

"Nonsense," Flurrie chirped, "It's a recipe only I know." The wind spirit gave him a look and then floated off to cook the soup while the others looked over Spike with worried expressions. Despite the machinations and conniving strategies they all had cooked up, each one felt deeply sorry for the man and worried over his health, realizing how deadly this game truly was.

By the time night fell, Spike had recovered, and he was resting in one of the beds that Koops and Toad had in their room. Spike had moved in there, leaving the old bedroom empty. Koops and Toad were to watch over him while he recovered.

Koops: While I did win the veto, seeing Spike collapse like that gave me chills. He must've been so desperate to win the veto that he couldn't comprehend losing.

In the HOH room, Jojora talked with Junior and Dry Bones. Flurrie was in the shower, finally addressing her own needs after taking care of Spike for a long time.

Jojora: Flurrie's reaction when Spike collapsed was amazing. She showed how caring and confident in her abilities to help others she is. She's a true friend to everyone in this house.

"There's not much to discuss, is there?" Junior asked the other two, who shook their heads.

"Koops will take himself off, and up with Spike," Dry Bones said between clenched teeth, "We can't show mercy. One medical episode does not warrant another week in the house."

"I agree," Jojora frowned, "His condition is something to note, but we have to play this game the way it should be played."

With nothing more to discuss, they bid one another goodnight.

The day passed uneventfully. Spike felt much better and got back to his grouchy old ways while everyone spent the day cooking, reading, swimming, sunning, or working out. By the time the evening hit, Koops went to the memory wall to retrieve the veto and summon the others.

"Hey everyone," Koops called, "It's time for the veto ceremony." The others followed him into the living room, where Koops and Toad took their seats on the nomination chairs. Junior sat on his ottoman while the others filed out into the couches like they had before.

Koops rose from his chair and began the meeting.

"This is the veto ceremony. Junior, as Head of Household, has nominated Toad and I for eviction. However, I have the power to veto one of those nominations."

Koops wasted no time getting to the point.

"I have decided to use the power of veto on myself," Koops said with a nod, and everyone respected his decision. He sat down next to Flurrie and Jojora and addressed Junior.

"Since I have just vetoed one of your nominations, you must now name a replacement nominee," Koops explained.

"Right," Junior nodded, rising from the ottoman and facing everyone.

"Well guys," he clapped his braced hands together, "I love you all, and love this game and things we've shared, but I have to make a decision. I know you're not feeling the best, and I hate to add to the burden on you at the moment, but Spike, please, take a seat."

Nodding with a knowing grunt, Spike rose and calmly seated himself in the bamboo chair, facing Junior with an iron gaze.

Koops rose and took the veto from his neck, placing it inside the box.

"With that being said," Koops announced, "This veto ceremony is adjourned."
