It was late February on Dotson Island. Just a few weeks ago the railroad became official, and the railroad got more and more busy. The yard where the engines were first discovered was still a mess. Cars were unorganized and spread out everywhere. The engines began to complain about this. Mr. Jarrell had ordered a new engine to take care of this problem. One night at the sheds. "I would like all of you to meet our new engine. His name is Austin, and I want all of you to welcome him to the Island." Mr. Jarrell told his engines. Then a maroon and violet manning wardle m class with large square buffers and covered cab rolled up to the sheds. Then Mr. Jarrell continued "He will be shunting the yard and hulling freight. Please make him feel welcome." And with that he left. "Hiya." Greeted Austin. "Hello." Said John. "Where are you from?" He continued. "I'm from the Middleton railway in the United Kingdom." "I went there once, I worked on the Great Western Railway for a few months." Said Donavan. For the rest of the night the engines talked to one another.

The next morning Austin's driver was late. His fireman was on time and warming him up, but his driver was nowhere to be found. "Where is he?" Austin said confusedly. "I don't know?" Said his fireman. "Wait there he is!" He continued. His driver walked up to Austin and climbed in his cab. "Sorry, Mr. Jarrell stopped by to give me some orders." "What were they?" Asked his fireman. "Later we need to go to Barkers Bay and take some boxcars with us. Then he wants us to collect some empty trucks and bring them back here." "Well we better be going." Austin said and chuffed away. He switched lines and began shunting them. Most of the cars did want to move, they had sat there for years and most of them were comfortable. When they refused to move Austin biffed and bashed them. "Move you buggers!" He yelled as he bashed them. The cars were unhappy with the way Austin was treating them.

Later Austin collected the boxcars and chuffed towards Barkers Bay. He took the mainline there. When he reached Barkers Bay, John was there delivering the empty trucks he needed. "Hey, Austin!" "Hiya, John!" Replied Austin. Austin was uncoupled from the boxcars and switched lines. The two lines of trucks were next two one another. "This engine biffs and bashes us, we don't like him." Said one of the boxcars. "We'll get 'em, we'll get 'em." Said one of the trucks. As Austin coupled up to the trucks John spoke with him. "Watch yourself around cars, they tend to cause trouble." "I will. Hopefully I you wont have to pull me out of some smashing mess. See you at the sheds." Austin blew his whistle and puffed towards the yard.

Instead of heading back on the mainline, Austin puffed on the branch line that heads to Della. Since this is a one line track, there are many sidings. As he puff down the line the trucks started to act up. They began to laugh and sing. Austin didn't like this. "Now you buggers stop that." And he biffed them. The cars didn't like this and began to scheme. Soon Austin heard a whistle and saw some smoke coming around a bend. There was a signal box ahead and switched Austin into a siding facing a pond full of swans. The trucks took their chance. "On, on, push him on!" They yelled. He tried to stop but it was no use. Austin smashed through the buffers and slid into the pond. Halee saw the hole thing. "Help!" Cried Austin. "Don't worry! I'll send help!" Replied Halee. "This is a jolly good mess you buggers have got me into!" Austin shouted to the trucks.

Later that evening, John arrived with Mr. Jarrell and a mobile crane. When they puffed next to him, Austin was covered in swans. They liked the warmth of his boiler. They both began to laugh. "Well Austin." Began Mr. Jarrell. "We may just have to leave you here. I don't think the swans would like it if they lost their new friend. Actually from now on I think we shall call you Swan." He grinned. "I think I would like that sir."

That night at the sheds the engines talked about their day, but none of them had a more interesting day than Swan.
