AN: So... I haven't updated this story in like six months... a lot has happened in that time. I feel like I've completely lost this story, so after reading this chapter, tell me, should I even continue?
A few things before we continue:
the potions mentioned in this chapter were found on the Harry Potter wiki pages. Some do not have a description on the page, so I just took the name from there and created a description of my own. In this story, Chelidonium Miniscula is like finite incatatem in potions. It will counteract most potions and spells performed on the drinker.
The Manor mentioned in this fix is real. It is called the Brympton d'Evercy Manor. It's a really beautiful one, in my opinion. You should go look at some pictures.
Anyway, tell me what you think of this chapter! And sorry again for the delay. Can you ever forgive me? Oh, and if there is something particular you want to see in this story, tell me about it!
LUCIUS MALFOY POV
Lucius Malfoy thought he was a devious man. He had the whole plan worked out. He would lure his son to an uncharted manor that only he and Draco knew about. He would know some sense into the foolish boy and the. He would regroup the Death Eaters. Draco would become the leader, as The Dark Lord originally planned.
And if this did not work, he would capture the Mudblood and kill her. That would lift the spell she has on him, if all else failed. Oh, but it would be so glorious if the curse was lifted and Draco destroyed her. There would be so much more entertainment! Glorious, indeed.
Lucius paced around the study in the Brympton d'Evercy Manor, making a list of the potion ingredients he needs. For his first plan, he would use the potion Chelidonium Miniscula. If that doesn't work and he has to kill the Mudblood himself, he will have to make a different potion. Or steal a wand. Since all of Wizarding London (and probably Muggle London as well) is looking for him, it might be easier to do a potion. Then he can take her wand when she is dead. But what kind of potion? There are so many choices! Drink of Despair, or Bloodroot Poison? Death-Cap Drought or Moonseed Poison?
Oh, yes. Lucius Malfoy thought he was a devious man, indeed.
HERMIONE POV
"... So, I. The last eight years, have you seen his 'Malfoy' side again?" Ginny asked.
I sighed and looked away. "Once. Very briefly. After he was released, he got back into contact with Blaise Zabini. Draco didn't tell him about me immediately, which I was fine with. Anyway, they went out for a few drinks and Draco ended up drinking more than he realized. It really wasn't that bad though."
FLASHBACK
I sat in front of the fireplace at the Malfoy's villa. Draco and I had been dating for about seven months. I had moved in about a month ago. Narcissa had insisted, and practically begged.
They had been released on good behavior two weeks ago. Of course, Hermione Granger telling Kingsley that they could be released helped. They had been so happy when they found out. Narcissa had gone back to the Manor, claiming the first to go was the drawing room.
Blaise Zabini had been frequently owling Draco, but he never replied until he was released. He still needed a little encouraging from me before he would reply. Draco was currently out with Blaise, having a few drinks and catching up.
Even though Draco wanted to tell Blaise about me tonight, we both agreed that it was the smartest idea. Draco doubted that. Blaise would have any sort of problem with it, but he should probably be told away from so many ears.
So now I was just waiting for Draco to come home. It had been about four hours when he stepped through the floo. I could smell the alcohol from across the room and it was obvious he had had more than a few drinks. He stumbled through the room and didn't notice I was there. He was almost to the hallway when I spoke.
"Draco, are you alright?"
He froze. When he turned around, he had a scowl on his face?"
"Granger, what the hell are you doing here?" He snapped.
I frowned, confused. "Uhh… I live here?" it came out as a question.
He swooned drunkenly before replying. "Why the hell would you be in my Villa? Shouldn't you be out saving the world with Pothead and Weaselbee or something? Get lost, Mudblood." he sneered.
Then he stumbled down the hallway. He closed the door before I could even react. I blinked. Did that really just happened? Then the questions started filling my head.
What is wrong with him?
Did something happen while he was out with Blaise?
What would be so bad that he would use that word again?
Did he drink too much?
By this time, I was at his bedroom door, about to knock, when it clicked. He was piss drunk. Great. I've got a drunk amnesiac on my hands. Hopefully he remembers in the morning, or I've got to convince him to go to St. Mungo's.
I went to my room and fell on the bed, exhausted. Well, tomorrow would be interesting! Before falling asleep, I thought something along lines of, "Why can't my life he boring and easy like everyone else's?"
The next morning I awoke refreshed. I got up to make to go make some tea. On the way by Draco's room, I placed a silencing charm so that I wouldn't disturb him.
I was in the process of drinking my tea when the floo went off and I heard someone step out of the fireplace. I held tightly to my wand and peered into the room, looking for the visitor.
Blaise Zabini stood in front of the fireplace, dusting off his cloak. I narrowed my eyes. What better time to tell him about Draco and I the now? I folded my arms across my chest and walked into the room.
"How much did He drink last night?" I asked.
He jumped and pointed his wand at me. When he realized it was just me though, he quickly put his wand away.
"What are you doing here, Granger?" He asked, plopping down on the couch.
"Answer my question first." I replied, lowering my wand an inch. This was Draco's best friend, after all. I wouldn't hex him immediately.
He chuckled. "He didn't drink very much. Three or four, tops. He said he had an ulterior motive. That must be you, eh?" He answered.
"Maybe not for long." I grumbled. Apparently, Blaise didn't hear me.
"So does this mean Draco was finally able to get into your knickers?" He questioned again.
I automatically opened my mouth to answer, and then I realized what exactly he had said.
"Excuse me? "I said, my wand going back half an inch. "For you information, Zabini, Draco and I have been seeing each other for quite a few months now and he has not 'gotten into my knickers.' Not that it's even your business. Although, when he came back last night he seemed to have no recollection of the whole last year. Any ideas why?" I growled out.
Zabini flinched when I said his name. Then he became surprised as I continued speaking.
"He forgot a whole year? Have you seen him this morning? Does he still not remember? Merlin, Granger, I don't know how that could have happened." He paused. His eyes widened in realization. "Wait a minute. You said a year. Does that mean he called you a… a..."He trailed off.
I grimaced and looked away.
"Oh, Merlin. He's going to mess everything up. He didn't mean it, Granger. He didn't mean it in school either. He had to use it, you see, or his father would abuse him for not treating muggleborns like they were scum. I'm sure you already knew this though. Anyway, after a while, it just became a habit for him. It will just slip out, and he doesn't mean it. I'll help you get revenge, if you want." Zabini ran a hand through his hair.
"I know he didn't mean it. He just sort of caught me off guard. I haven't seen in this morning yet, so I don't know if he remembers anything."
Zabini stood up. "I'll go see. That way he doesn't hurt you if he doesn't remember." He said. He walked down the hallway before I could reply.
I took a sip of my tea and walked back into the kitchen. As I was pouring more tea into my cup, I heard Zabini and Draco walk into the living room. I stood by the door so that I could hear what they were saying.
"-is wrong. I am perfectly fine. "Draco's unmistakable voice said.
He sounded a bit irritated. "Yes. There is. When I asked you about your girlfriend, you said you didn't have one. When I asked you the year, you told me last year. Why don't we take you to St. Mungo's, and if they say you're fine, I'll do whatever you want for two weeks. And vice versa. Good idea, yeah?" I heard Zabini say.
"Hmm. Whatever I want for two weeks? That sounds delightful." He paused. I could practically hear the smirk on his face. He probably already had a list of embarrassing thing for Zabini to do. I just determined that my boyfriend really is evil. "You've got a deal, Zabini."
"Great. I'll be right back. I started boiling water for tea, so I need to turn the stove off." Zabini said smoothly.
I quickly moved from the door so he wouldn't hit me when he came through it. As soon as the closed behind him, he put a silencing charm up.
"Did you hear any of that?" He asked.
"Yes. So you're taking him to St. Mungo's. Should I just follow shortly after?" I asked.
"That's probably best." He replied.
"Thank you, Zabini "I said.
"No problem, Granger. It's my fault anyway. I should've paid more attention. For all we know, someone could have put something in his drink." He replied. He made his way to the door, but I stopped him with another question.
"Blaise, and you're okay with this? Draco and I?" I asked.
He stopped walking, but didn't turn around. "Granger, you are a very good person. Draco isn't a bad person, but he has done some bad things. And he only did them because he was forced. He deserves to be with someone like you, who can make in the person he was supposed to be. Because not all Slytherins are bad." He finished and walked out the door.
I stood frozen to the spot, not expecting answer I had been given. A moment later, I peeked out the door. Draco and Zabini were gone. I paced the house for about twenty minutes before flooding to St. Mungo's. I spoke to the secretary and she told me how to get to his room. The door was cracked open, and I heard Draco talking.
"-mad is she?"
"She seemed more worried than anything. She couldn't be mad at you, could she? At least not after we tell her someone spiked your drink with something." Blaise answered.
"I don't think so. We're going to have to be careful when we go out from now on. I've a feeling someone doesn't want me to be with Hermione, which means you should be careful too, since you know about us now." Draco replied.
END FLASHBACK
Ginny gasped. "So what happened? Who did it?"
