Same spot as last time
The siblings of Petalburg charged at the evil machine, the claws of the Berserker thirsty for blood. The powerful construct of Aura and the sister of the construct both attacked together, the beam of destructive aura of the berserker and the chain sickle of May both heading towards their target… until they crashed and cancelled one another.
"OI!" The Berserker yelled. "THIS IS WHY I TOLD YOU TO STAY BACK!" The berserker yelled at May.
"Me? You're the one that fired when I was going to attack!" As they argued, MX-02 chuckled, amused by the idiotic fighting. Upon hearing her, the armored titan charged at the cyborg, slashing with his claws ready to rend her flesh from her metallic bones.
"AND YOU GO BACK TO YOUR FUCKING GRAVE!" The robot chuckled, before attacking with her own mechanic arm. A wave of electric power coursed through it and paralyzed Mind for a few second. Taking advantage of the distraction, the real May moved in and ensnared the robotic menace with her chain sickle.
"Sol, NOW!" The Disaster then rushed forth at the command of his mate, the small stone in his collar shining brightly as May brought her human hand to her robotic wrist, where a small stone lay hidden. Upon touch, Sol was enveloped in a pink sphere of energy, encasing him as blasts of energy swirled around it. When the sphere shattered, the Absol had changed. He now had a larger horn, identical in shape to May's chain sickle's blade, and his fur had flared up, looking like a pair of wings. His speed had increased, and the Guardians could all feel the power emanating.
"WHAT THE HELL!?" The now recovered Guardian of the Mind yelled as he saw the Disaster Pokémon change shape like that. "B-but Absols don't have either evolutions or different forms!" May grinned at that. Looks like not all of her brother's old personality was gone.
"That's because this is not regular evolution, brother…" May told him, grinning. She tightened her hold on the robot as Sol closed in. "This is Mega Evolution!" Sol leaped at the robot, his claws piercing deep into whatever remained of her flesh. The robotic monster wailed in pain as her nerves (whatever was left of them anyway) flared up in pain. Sol took advantage of this and rapidly assaulted the many openings that appeared in the robot's defense, mauling every bit of flesh that remained. Not to let the chance pass, Mind charged at the mechanic abomination and, just as Sol jumped off, he tackled her to the ground, not unlike he had done to May a short while ago.
"Hehe… This time, nothing is stopping me." Mind said gleefully. "Only this time, this time, I'll make sure you can't come back anymore!" He raised his claw, ready to commit the deed… and he turned to May. "Uh… could you cover their eyes?" He said, motioning to the triplets. "I really don't want to scar them for life with this." Everyone looked bewildered at this ("Since when does Mind worry about that?" Flame whispered), but complied, quickly taking the girls out of earshot and visual range. "Ok, now nothing's stopping me." He placed his clawed gauntlet on the robots head. "Now… DIE!" With a fraction of his strength, the Berserker crushed the robots head. Blood, brains and oil splattered out of the cavity, causing many (Read as: all) of the trainer group to vomit. The berserker continued dismembering the robot, ripping her to pieces and throwing each piece into a pile. Blind rage was guiding the aura gauntlets at this point, fixed in making sure the evil robot would never rise again. Dragon slowly approached the raging Berserker, ignoring the mechanical and organic parts that lay scattered around him, and placed a hand on the armor's shoulder. The Berserker whirled around, still in rage, but calmed down when Dragon said three simple words.
"Mind, it's over." Those words pacified the raging Guardian. He dissolved his armor and slowly walked back to the group.
"Hey, Flame?" The mentioned Guardian turned to Mind. "Could you incinerate the remains? I want to be sure it'll never come back." Flame nodded. A few minutes later, white hot flames were destroying the remains of MX-02. The metal melted into a dense liquid, and the flesh burned into the air. Nearby, with a somber expression, May watched the pyre, feeling at peace. No longer would she fear the robot. No more would she have nightmares of the test runs. It was over. Standing at her side, her brother watched the fire as well, occasionally looking at the hand that had crushed the metallic skull. Unlike his sister, he didn't feel at peace. Ever since the Berserker had awoken, he was never at peace, except when he was with his mate and child. This, however, was the closest he could get without them. Near the edge of the clearing, both Ashes watched as the siblings stared into the flames. Ash was horrified of how viciously Mind killed the robot, while Dragon was glad it was gone for good. He drew out a small piece of paper, and crossed out part of what was written. Seeing this, Ash asked:
"Hey, what's that?" Without saying a word, Dragon showed it to him. "'To do List'? You guys have a To Do List?"
"Sure we do. We need to keep tabs of what needs to be done." The part he had crossed out said 'Rid the world of May'. Beneath it, heavily underlined and highlighted, it said:
'Investigate the reports of vigilante activity in Orre, Almia, Fiore, and Oblivia.'
"Vigilante activity?" Ash asked Dragon, who simply nodded.
"Yeah. Lately, all criminal activity in those regions has undergone a severe downfall. While we don't have a problem with that, we need to make sure whoever is doing this isn't a potential threat to innocent people. They seem to be an organized group, that much we know, and from our preliminary research, they call themselves 'The Elements'." Ash nodded, but looked confused at one thing.
"Don't you guys have, like, spies or something?" Dragon nodded.
"Yes, we do, but out influence isn't as powerful in the outer regions. We barely have any presence in these. Not to mention the Kalos region, to the west. That place is our only blind spot. We've tried, but it's been troublesome to get there. It's too far away from the other regions for regular trips." Dragon gave Ash a world map, with all the regions highlighted. "The star shaped one is the Kalos region. Anyway, we've considered recruiting local Aura-capable youths into our ranks and leave them there in an outpost, but aura is rarer than shiny Pokémon in that region. In the entire region, we only found three people capable of utilizing Aura." Dragon sighed. "Honestly, it's been way too troublesome. Thankfully Almia, Fiore and Oblivia have the Rangers to take care of things, and Kalos has a somewhat decent police force. Orre, however, is a bit more problematic with their Shadow Pokémon incidents." Ash nodded, having heard of the Shadow Pokémon and the threat those who made them represented. "But now is not the time to talk about that. Or rather, not the Timeline. I'd rather not bother your mind with stuff other than your selfish little goal of becoming Pokémon Master." Ash glared at Dragon, but remained quiet. "Oh, not saying a word, are we? Good. You're becoming less stupid."
"It's not selfish." Ash countered. Dragon simply waved it off.
"Sure, sure, whatever helps you sleep at night." Dragon said offhandedly as he left. He approached the Petalburg siblings as they watched the flames. "Everything alright here?" He asked them. Mind turned to him and nodded.
"Just glad it's gone for good." He said, staring into the heart of the fire. "I can finally sleep without worrying about it appearing and taking Ayame away." May turned to her brother at the mention of Ayame.
"How is she, by the way? Last time I saw her she was a little baby." Mind glared at May for a second, but sighed and answered.
"She's fine, thanks. We found out she and Dragon's children have our powers. Kir nearly passed out when she showed us her power. She turns into a mini Berserker, but she isn't as crazy as I am." May giggled at that. Dragon took this opportunity to slip away and let the siblings talk.
"You know, supposedly crazy people don't know they're crazy." Mind shrugged.
"Most crazy people don't have a living Aura entity inside them." May chuckled again.
"Fair point…" She looked up at the darkening sky. "So, what happens now?"
"About what?"
"Well, you just found out I wasn't the one that tried to kill you, but it was my fault MH-01 and MX-02 went after you. So, what will happen now? Will you kill me?" Mind sighed… and Gibbs Slapped her. "Hey, what was that for!?"
"For talking nonsense. I won't kill you, not anymore. It may have been your fault, but it's water under the bridge now." Mind motioned to the pyre. "The one that threatened me and my family is in there, burning away for good. You showed me you have changed. And while I still don't fully trust you, maybe we can be brother and sister again, someday." May smiled at that… "Besides, if my wife found out I killed you and you were no longer a threat, she'd kick my ass." And with that, he left, leaving May with a single word in her head.
'Whipped…'
Meanwhile, in an Unknown Location
"What do you mean, dead?" A man asked the kneeling figure in front of him.
"Dead, milord. The cameras in their uniforms showed their deaths. Behold." The figure pressed a button, and a nearby screen flared to life. It showed the deaths of two of the King's Hunters. "We tried facial recognition, but the key features required to identify them are covered." The man growled.
"I see… Send a few troops to capture them, alive. I want to meet these people." The kneeling figure bowed his head.
"Yes milord." He then excused himself and left. The man laid back in his throne, and looked around the room.
"I do hope they accept… or they'll feel the wrath of the descendant of the great King Roland: Prince Roger!"
Back in the Guardian Universe (A/N Writing that after a Rift gaming run feels weird…)
A lone rapidash-drawn carriage rode in the marshy terrain of route 212 leading to Pastoria City. Only two people rode it, both in the front, a man and a woman. However, out of nowhere, a group of bandits popped up, surrounding the carriage. One of them, most likely their leader, approached the carriage.
"Why, hello." The bandit said, leaning on the carriage. "Now, let me tell you how this is going to go down: You'll give us everything valuable you're carrying, and we let you go. Simple, right? However, if you don't comply…" The man placed a hand on the woman's thigh. "We might have to have a 'talk' with your companion." The other bandits all chuckled lecherously. The man, without looking, answered.
"Oh, I wouldn't recommend that. You see, I married a rather ugly being" The man said nonchalantly. The woman looked shocked, and raised finally showed her face, which had been covered by a bonnet, revealing… Adrian Rachni, The Guardian of the Web!?
"Shikyo, how can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people?" The other person in the carriage, the Guardian of Grass, Shikyo, was barely able to contain his laughter.
"Hey, if I could make you prettier, I would."
"You are NOT the man I met a year ago…" They both pulled out their prime techniques at the bandits, who moved to draw their own weapons. "Now, think real hard. You guys have been robbing this route for a time now. The citizens wouldn't mind a corpse of you. Now, you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you." The message got through. The bandits put their hands up and were escorted to Pastoria city for imprisonment. Once that was done, Web rapidly discarded the female clothes he was provided. "Why the hell did I have to wear the dress!?" He asked, outraged, to his teammate.
"Because you lost in rock-paper-scissors. Besides, it looked rather good on you." Shikyo smirked as he got the expected reaction.
"SHUT UP, SHIKYO!" Web yelled, even more outraged now. "Oh, sweet Arceus, I swear…"
"By your pretty floral bonnet?" Shikyo jabbed once more.
"Gah!" Web recoiled, knowing he had set himself up for that one. "That's it, next time you'll wear it!" The two kept arguing (an argument in which Web talked and Shikyo ignored) until they reached their rendezvous, where Gardevoir was waiting for them.
"Geez, you guys took a while. All the others have already returned to the Garden." She then noticed how pissed off Web was. "Is something the matter?" Shikyo snickered.
"Nothing, really. The prankster got pranked, is all." A tick mark bulged in Web's forehead.
"YOU MADE ME WEAR A DRESS!" Gardevoir burst out in laughter at that.
"Oh, if the others heard of that you'll never live it down…" Her eyes took a malicious glint. "Blackmail, anyone?"
"You got it, Lady. Now come on, let's get home." Gardevoir nodded at Shikyo, and transported them to the Garden. "Ah, home sweet home." He muttered. "Now, let's go give our report and get something to eat, ok?" Web nodded. The three of them entered the Shack, were all the remaining Guardians were sitting in the long dining table. "Mission successful." The two Guardians declared as they walked in. Shadow, the acting second-in-command of the Guardians, nodded at them.
"Good, now, back to the task at hand. How can we build a machine to forcefully bring back the others from that alternate timeline?" That's what the Guardians and their mates had been doing for a while now. Their plan was to build a bridge between the timelines to recover their friends.
"We might need Dialga's power for it…" Tien muttered. She had become a bit more talkative in the last three years, but she still wasn't exactly a social person. "Gira could help us, right Gira?" Her mate, a Giratina, nodded.
"I'll consult with them. They usually agree with what either I or my mother say, so it shouldn't be hard." Shadow nodded.
"Ok, let's get moving." The Guardians all nodded and left the shack, to gather the materials. Latias, who was acting as the true leader of the Guardians, retreated back into the room that belonged to her and her husband.
"Soon, we'll be together again…"
AAAAND CUT! There's this chapter, folks. Now, I hid a reference to the best Sci-fi show in history in this chapter. I'll give you a hint: YOU CAN'T TAKE THE SKY FROM ME! Anyway, is it just me, or was that thing with the group called 'The Elements' a bit of a foreshadowing to a future sequel? Hmm, nah I must be seeing things XD (Thank you, King Fox). Please do check out Alto Mare: Fated Reunion. You can find it in my community: The U.A.C (United Altoshipper Community). This is BladeOfThePoet, logging out!
