Hello everybody! This is NRG-OVA-9000, presenting you one of The Amazing Gyroball episodes. In this episode, everything will be focused on Larry Needlemeyer, one of the characters that had to deal with all the misadventures that Gumball, Darwin, and possibly the whole Watterson family had done. But now, all of the dire consequences behind their adventure will have to pay up since he's usually the victim of well... everything.
I originally conceived the idea of it from long ago, probably around the summer of 2012. But, I never really got to develop them into fully fledged episode for you fans to read, until now! I already planned for Larry to play some antagonistic role to the Watterson family, cause it's officially canon, I guess. He's pretty much fed-up with them and you can obviously see that (if you watch the show; go check on it).
So yep, the content of it will be rather dark and depressive and have somewhat eerily mature. But hey, you fans have handled them well from cartoons. You're quite aware of the fridge horror or whatnot. With that covered with, enjoy the show.
Also, the original concept of TAWOG belongs to Ben Bocquelet and Cartoon Network, and Lexy Watterson, the OC belongs to lexboss, fellow fan and author.
The Amazing Gyroball
Episode 16: The Agent Rockman
In the metropolis of Elmore lies Gumball Watterson. This cat-boy was once living a simple life until the radioactive, gyroscopic satellite crashed onto him, imbuing him with a mutant gyro-powers and transforming him into "Gyroball!" With this newly gained power, he and his siblings formed the What-The-Sons to take down evil-doers in Elmore. But, they found themselves a notoriously powerful enemy which no one has ever faced or even heard of. Known as the GIGA Organization, they are bent to control the public through conspiracy, which would hopefully elevate them in power to the point of establishing a totalitarian regime. Being against their plan to dominate their home along with its neighboring cities, the What-The-Sons continue their epic battle against them. But, how long can they continue this battle? When will the grand scheme be initiated and when to stop them by? No one will know when their plan will come to fruition, and all that the heroes and their allies can do is to wait. Especially for those who are viewing this superhero epic, wait and watch carefully as their battle resume.
Meanwhile, Gumball and Darwin are spending the last of their weekend before another week of school starts to rent a video from Ripley 2000, a somewhat popular video rental place in Elmore. It is a bit strange that despite of the fact that everybody is now living in what is presumably either modern era with sufficiently advanced electronic technology or near-distant post-modern future with more advanced cyberpunk-like technology, that small video rental store still stands. It could be justified by its unique autonomy (or so it seems from the look of the GIGA Organization). The city's government has enacted a strict isolationist policy that prevent anybody and anything from getting in or out of it without the ruling politicians' consent; this explains the weird anachronism as seen with different elements from different parts of American (and European) history blended together in one society along with things being so Elmore-related like Elmore Plus (search browser), Zelmore (fantasy video-game), and others. But nonetheless, the video rental store still survives from extinction due to the presence of online video service.
"Why is it called Ripley 2000?" asked Darwin as he and his older brother are walking on the street. "I mean, it's not like it's the future anymore."
"I dunno," said Gumball. "Probably something known as retro-futurism."
"That's a paradox, an oxymoron!"
"Well, get used to it. People use paradoxes and oxymora as figure of speech, something that you seriously need to learn." The older cat-boy brother makes remark on his younger merman brother that he needs to become more "socially intelligent," or "generally intelligent" in that manner. Darwin is a ditz with a short-term memory of a goldfish, except not really. Goldfish having a really short memory is a myth, but Darwin has his own case in EJSHS academic curriculum.
"But it's hard…" the merman whined. "Tell me what it means, because logic denies me from even thinking about it."
"Your not-so-sharp logic is defying it. But us people's sharp knowledge and creative thinking could make sense of it."
"Tell me what it means!"
Gumball sighs with aggravation as he is mildly tired of Darwin inaptitude of communication and other ditzy traits, especially is literal-mindedness. "Fine. Retro-futurism is what people imagined the future to be in the past. Or the other way to think of it is stereotypical future stuff that still reminisce the old artistic style like probably the retro-style from the Cold War era."
"Wow! That is a LONG TIME AGO!" Darwin expressed amazement.
"Yeah. It's pretty amazing."
"Yeah… It's sort of like Elmore, which have old timer stuff still functional in present time infrastructure."
"That's because of the cruddy city policy that the big pile of beans makes."
Darwin gasps. "Gumball, watch your language."
"Oh shut it! We're teenagers. We ain't no kiddies anymore!" The cat-boy expressed subtle melancholy from aging with the glory time, being the middle school years, gone.
"Anyway, we're here." Cue the Ripley 2000 store. The brothers finally arrived at the video rental store to get something to entertain themselves and reminisce on their childhood, free of responsibilities and all the junk.
Gumball and Darwin enters into the store, seeing wide arrays of DVDs, Blu-ray discs, music CDs, video game CDs and cartridges, and many other electronic appliances. Darwin, being the more childish of the two brothers, looks around with awe while Gumball didn't express much feeling. It seems that maturity has hit Gumball so hard that he radically changes. Darwin glance at him, expressing worry for a moment as he's seeing Gumball not being his usual self anymore, especially when the image of his glorious middle school self is burnt into the merman's brain. But, he quickly got distracted by new videos to watch.
"Welcome valued customer," said Larry Needlemeyer, a young-looking person with earthy rock-like protrusions sticking out of random part of his body. He has spires of rock sticking out from his left arm and bit of his left cheek. The employee expressed enthusiasm until it quickly dies off from the sight of the Watterson brothers. "Oh… It's the Watterson."
"Hey Larry!" said the two brothers.
"How can I help you boys?" Larry asked with less enthusiasm, suspecting that they're here for trouble.
"We're here for something to enjoy and remember the good old time!" said Darwin with cheery face.
"Let me guess… Alligators on a Train? How to Ratatwang your Panda? Daisy the Donkey? A Pony's Tail?"
"I dunno man!" said Gumball. "Anything that reminds us of our glory days."
"Summer of 83?"
"No! The Summer of… umm…" Gumball start pondering upon the calendar, thinking mildly disturbing thoughts that may frighten few. Shoot! He thought to himself. What year was it? Is it the year 2098, 1985, 2012, or 1950? Or was it 2025, 2015? What is it!? Could it be that our calendar system is scrutinized? If so, by whom and for what purpose? Is there some great war that is occurring outside of Elmore? What secrets are there in this small world where we're confined in!
While Gumball is pondering about something, Darwin and Larry are looking at him with odd face. That is due to Gumball making a weird face while thinking.
"Umm…" Darwin stares at Gumball awkwardly.
Then, the cat-boy quickly wakes up to reality. "What?"
"So, what will it be?" asked Larry.
"I guess that we could watch…"
"Oh I know!" said Darwin. "We could just watch the Alligator on a Train. It's something that Lexy didn't watch."
"Oh, right! She missed out a lot. I forgot about that!"
"Wait a sec," said Larry. "Who's this Lexy person?"
"Our new sister," Gumball replied.
"Oh great! Another Watterson!" Larry becomes disappointed that the Watterson family is growing. He has a rather traumatic experience with the interesting family as the Watterson is mostly behind the random mishaps that happened to his life. Yet, he had to pay for all they did which he finds to be cruel and unfair. "Please don't tell me that she have more behind the scene!"
"Wait what!" the brothers gasped with surprise.
"Don't tell me that Mrs. Mom have more children without us knowing!" said Darwin.
"Probably something that Richard, that Richard, doesn't know," Larry made a snarky yet surprisingly mature remark. He emphasizes the second time he said the word "Richard" to indicate some contemporary slang.
"Oh Hal No!" said Gumball. "You did not imply that she cheated."
"I was generally implying that she have secrets, shady secrets!"
"What shady secrets?" asked the merman naively.
"Oh… Like how she managed to get away with all the mishaps that I had to take in and endure!" Larry angrily responds.
Before Gumball was about to aggressively protests, an audible buzz was heard from Larry's ear. It turns out that he is wearing an earphone communicator to keep in touch with the manager. There are electronic murmurs from the earphone. Larry is talking to him. The detail is not too important to take account of. Gumball and Darwin are just watching awkwardly as Larry is trying to talk with the murmur, which refuse to listen to the employee's reasons.
"Alright. Have a good day, sir!" said Larry as he finished his conversation. Transmission ended. After then, he turns back to Gumball and Darwin with a stern face.
"Well then," said Larry with a calm demeanor as he grabs the DVD case and scanned it. "That will be $9.99 for one day. Meaning that it's due tomorrow and failure to return it by its due date will consequently result with overcharge."
"Alright," said Gumball. So, the cat-boy paid him with one ten-dollar bill. The cashier takes in the money and gives him a change of one tail-down penny along with the case. Gumball was about to grab the two items, but he stopped him for a moment.
"You do understand what I said earlier, do you?" asked the cashier.
"Yeah… return it by tomorrow. Got it! I'll return it on time."
"I don't think that you understand the direness of the situation you're in," Larry peers at Gumball with a skeptical look.
"Oh come on! What could go wrong?"
"Gumball," Darwin whispered with worry. "I think that he's super cereal about it."
"Your brother is right," said Larry. "This is no laughing manner. Long before Ripley 2000 was Ripley 2000, it was Laser Video and it suffered bad business."
"Gee… wonder what could that be…" said Gumball with a grumbled voice.
"Customers that exploit its lack of security and policy enforcements like you and YOUR MOM!"
The brothers gasped.
"You made a 'your mom' joke!" said Darwin.
"No I didn't," said Larry. "I'm not joking. It's a statement of fact that you're somewhat responsible for what is questionable unnecessary upgrade from Laser Video to Ripley 2000."
"So you're saying that this place got a renovation because of us? Wow, must been an honor to be an inspiration to…"
"Oh shut it! I had to get the talk from the manager all because of your crazy antics."
"Don't worry about it…" Gumball is laughing off the direness of the situation.
"It's not funny! See YOUR DAD as an example!"
Suddenly, they remember the humiliation their father get for "stealing" money directly from the cashier when he's trying to refund it for the manager's neglect to fulfill high-quality customer service.
"That's not funny…"
"Exactly!"
"Yeah… well… Thanks for the video and see you tomorrow."
"Right…" As the brothers and the cashier bid farewell, Gumball and Darwin left the scene with their DVD. And Larry is staying on his shift behind the corner, waiting for any more customers.
After the long day of work, Larry went back to his lonesome home, messy with junk and dirty laundry all over the place. The sofa and furniture in his living room look so dirty; it is covered in dust, dried sweat, and other things. Anybody can tell that it's not sanitary by the color of it. He has an old television set that he had to get from thrift store, flea market, or somewhere to get items at incredibly affordable price.
The depressed man ends the cheery façade that he used during the work and sits down on his sofa. He had a plate of veggie combo pizza and a can of soda with suspiciously odd content in it. It's presumably one of the adult drinks that people within the age of majority have the privilege of. Few teenagers sill drink the items that they're prohibited from regardless of the city law enforcement's best effort. As he got his dinner set up, he turns on the television with melancholy spelt in his face.
Argg… Larry thought to himself as he is eating his dinner and drinking his can of "soda." My life is a mess. I just don't know what went wrong. Everything was fine until the Watterson entered into my life. And ever since then, everything seems to go astray. They had neglected the store policies, which the managers put me to be responsible for all this. The boys even assisted crime while I was restrained and the manager nonetheless put me responsible for it. And they even invaded my private life and ruined it; they kept harassing me into complying with their ridiculous budding, which consequently got me fired; and they harass me while I was in a date with Karen and made her hate me. Although that I still managed to fix the mess up that they done, especially my personal life as I'm getting more stable jobs and recovering my disarrayed relationship with my fiancé, I can't never forget what they done to me, nor can I even forgive them. They are prone to causing chaos, which I had to get involved in against my volition and become responsible for their ill consequences. I… I just wish that the universe will answer me and save me from the ill fate that I, for so-what-so-ever reasons, am destined with. "ANSWER ME UNIVERSE!" He blurts out his thought. "Ugh… what's the point? I'm doomed."
Then suddenly, he heard the doorbell. He left the scene temporarily, only to come back later with a box and a gift card.
"Hmm…" said Larry. "That's odd. That nobody was here and that I got a mysterious gift that seemingly popped out of nowhere. Wonder what that could be?"
So, the young-looking lad opened the wrapped gift box, only to see the metallic container. It turns out to be a specially made briefcase from none other than the GIGA Organization. Their iconic logo is embedded on the briefcase. He opened it, only to reveal the GIGA Power Generator and electronic tablet. The tablet activates itself, loading itself to the video transmission with the same silhouette man in his white office room.
"Greeting, Mr. Laurence Needlemeyer," said the silhouette man.
"Who are you?" asked the timid man.
"We're the GIGA Organization. And we're the provider of social stability for Elmore."
"What do you want?"
"We have been investigating on the Watterson siblings."
"Let me guess, Gumball is classified as a high level threat or something."
"You could say something like that…"
"Whatever the Watterson has done, please don't make me liable for it!"
"Hmm…" the silhouette man is somewhat surprised, but not really. He pretty much knows about many secrets in Elmore since he's the "ruling political force" of the city. The GIGA Organization is surprisingly more powerful than the city council, which doesn't feel right. They're some obscure organization that has extra-legislative and extra-judicial power over different cities around the North Bay area. Something is not right.
"Umm… sir."
"Right, sorry. Sort of dozed off. But anyway, the Watterson family is becoming a more powerful threat to our work. And we need your help to deal with them."
"Ok…" Larry becomes dumbstruck for a while. "I know that they usually do incredibly chaotic stuff in the city and I'm usually their victim. But, I can't imagine that this has become serious. It's like they done it and they got away from it like magic, an incredibly messed up magic that is."
"It's partly our fault due to us having to deal with terrorists. And their activities usually cause critical errors in our administrative system. Even we were perplexed about the whole thing."
"So… what should I do, since you gave me this weird mechanical device?"
"We want you to join our organization since you have a valuable skill sets, vital information, and other important attributes that could help contribute to our good cause."
"I'm a guy who had to work many different jobs at different shifts, different time and day. And it's because the Watterson's mayhem. I'm basically a scapegoat to their disasters."
"And that is why we came to you. So that you can help us as well as we can help you. It's a mutual pact that we have. So what do you say? Will you join us?"
"Hmm… if it's about preventing future disasters for good! Then sure, I could get a better job and better life as well as settling old scores. But what's the thing that you gave me?"
"Oh… That's the performance enhancer that unlocks all latent genetic potential and augments your overall abilities. And using it is a sign that you joined for our cause. But I advise you that you should leave to an unpopulated, isolated area for civilian safety concern. The place where I would recommend using the enhancement device is on the desert on east of Elmore."
"Uh… huh…" Larry is nodding on the head's suggestion.
"I'm just going to pin-point the location along with the direction to use. And I assume that you have a car in front of your home, right?"
"How…" Larry becomes amazed. "You guys do have watchful eyes over Elmore."
"That's our duty as a secret agency of the great nation. So any questions?"
"When do I start?" The hard worker asks with excitement.
Despite of the silhouette man's feature being heavily obscured by the stark contrast between the white room's lighting and his own shadow, he is making a gesture with each finger of the opposite hands touching each other by its tip. This shows that he is very pleased to have a valuable ally against the random (or currently not-so-random) meddling of the Watterson.
Very late night, Larry parked his car in the middle of the desert, where the Head of the GIGA Organization recommends. It's a good thing that the desert is just about few miles away from Elmore Gas Station, and that he got authorization to leave the city. As mentioned earlier, Elmore have a strict isolationist policy where people can neither make entrance nor exit without proper authorization from the higher-ups. Literally, there is a traffic station that regulates any activities on the city highway, which is just about a five to ten minute drive away from the gas station. And Larry's current location is just far enough for the traffic station to not see anything.
The lone boy with rock-protrusion from his fleshly body exited the car with a briefcase. He walked to the barren land, which is supposedly prohibited by urban developers for safety reasons. Desert is a dangerous place with deadly animals and toxic plants. But due to urban planning like asphalt roads, barb-wired barriers, and other renovations, dangers are less likely to come to any passerby on the highway. Larry continued to walk until he is definitely sure that he is safe and alone from anybody.
By the time he reached the destination, he opened the briefcase with the wireless tablet and the inactivated spherical device left intact. The screen turns itself on and loads to the video communicator with the Head.
"Hello Laurence," said the silhouette man.
"I'm here," said Larry. "I'm here where you want me in."
"Now, turn the dial of the performance enhancing device in this combination," the screen switch from his office room to the digital number code, three bars with two digits each. The number is 12-03-13.
"Uh-huh…" Larry nod as he looks at the device closely, seeing that there is a knob with number from zero to thirty clockwise and the large power button. It looks like an ordinary lock melded into an easy-press grenade.
"Yeah… It's easy like high school locker code," said the head as the screen switch back from the "locker code screen" to the usual office scene.
Larry just looks at him strangely for having such simplistic mechanism in such state-of-the-art device.
"Our scientists have simplified the usage for new recruits like you," the head explained.
"Right…"
"You memorized the number, right? Failure to do so will activate a self-defense mechanism just in case if it goes to the wrong hand."
"Yeah. Got it!"
"And now, you got thirty seconds to dial the code and press the big button on the middle of the knob. Now GO!" The screen switches to a countdown. The countdown quickly reached to twenty-nine seconds and few nanoseconds.
Larry turned the knob clockwise three times and dials it to the first number. Then, he turns the knob once counterclockwise and dials it to the second number. And finally, he quickly dials to the third number and smack the button, finishing it less than 5 seconds. The lighting on the device dims down for a moment only to brighten up and release a huge burst of bright, intense energy engulfing everything in. Larry screams as the orb of light engulfs him and later the part of the desert landscape. Sands, dry air, loose pebbles, many abiotic components of the desert biome are being drawn inward to the detonation core, where the rocky mutant lies in. The orb is receding, looking as if the energy along with the physical matter it gravitates are being absorbed directly into the person's body. As it recedes into the small speck of sparkling light that lies on his body, it quickly expands into a large pillar of intense energy, brightly shined with the color of the sunbathed desert sand with the light mixture of other earthy colors. The pillar shines with many glistening sparkles, creating an impression that the earth has poured stars into the once-desolate night sky.
The next day, the Watterson siblings are spending their time in the late afternoon, having good old quality family time in a living room. It is just the four children, watching Alligators on a Train. The whereabouts of Richard and Nicole is unknown, but it is assumed that they are on a date. The three siblings are sharing the family movie with Lexy as they are trying to have her familiarize with what the Watterson lifestyle is. But, all of them looked bored; it is presumably due to the outdated cinematic techniques used in the movie that cause them to be uninterested. Plus, Gumball and his siblings aside from Lexy had watched it for over hundred times. They continued watching it as the movie reached to its conclusion.
"So… how was it?" asked Gumball.
"Meh, I watched it many times," said Lexy.
The three siblings gasped with surprise.
"What?" said Lexy. "Alligator on a Train has an incredibly huge fan base within Elmore. And I watched it often while I take occasional visit to it. I was still lost and wondering around the North Bay and East Bay."
"Oh…" said the three siblings.
"Well then," said Gumball. "Guess that we got to return this buzzkill back to its place."
"This is surprise from you, Gumball," said Anais with a surprised tone. "I always remember you as an irresponsible older brother who is onto stupid antics."
"Hey!" said Gumball. "Haven't you watched me grow up? Umm… No! I gradually mature as I continue my middle school life and now I (my youth) died at the start of my high school years. If anything, middle school is earth while high school is purgatory."
"Dang, Gumball!" said Darwin. "You're becoming a buzzkill yourself!"
"Well, that's growing up for you."
"Oh come on!" said Anais. "You cannot just turn back away from what fundamentally makes you YOU!"
"Pfff… It's not just Gumball thing," Gumball replied. "It's every Elmore people thing! I saw mom, dad, Principal Brown, Mr. Small, YOU (referring to Anais); everybody have their really bizarre episodes. And that is when I start not doing the crazy thing that I used to at the beginning, the first season of my middle school life. After that, it's now everyone else. So, what do you expect?"
"Wow!" Anais becomes shocked. "You become out-of-character…"
Gumball inhales and then let it out. "Yeah… I'm out-of-character because I'm growing up I guess. Just don't get how you managed to retain the most of who you were in the middle school years."
"I dunno," said Darwin.
"Beat's me," said Anais.
As the three siblings contemplate on their younger times, the doorbell is heard. The four siblings walk toward the door and open it, revealing the visitor to be Larry Needlemeyer in a spiffy black suit and cool sunglasses.
"Looking sweet man!" said Gumball.
Larry retains his stoic outlook. Darwin looks scared as he knows that their rocky mutant friend meant serious business.
"Gumball…" said the startled merman.
"Have you finished watching Alligators on a Train?"
"Right here…" Gumball shows him the DVD case. The young-looking guy grabs the case, open it and inspect the disc to see if it's in an acceptable condition. He smiles as he saw that it is in perfect condition.
"Good…" Then, he whistled. Another man in a black suit and sunglasses came from the black van. He gives Larry a light bow, signifying respect for someone of superior social standing. "Good sir, deliver this DVD to Ripley 2000. Just want to secure the valuable cinematic masterpiece of great cult followings back to its rightful place."
The man grabs the case, put it into his business bag, bow to him, and enter into a small car nearby the van. Then, he drives off, leaving the scene.
"Thanks man!" said Gumball.
"Save it Gumball," said Larry. "I'm doing this for the general good of the public. Ever since you wrecked the most famous cinematic masterpiece of Elmore, the city's economy has dropped steeply for a while; and it was devastating. With the rare masterpiece gone, the community of artisans had to restore it, costing the city fortune, and thus causing the new copies for that movie to be incredibly expensive. With Ripley having possession of that movie, it began to thrive with prosperity as many people paid great deal of money for renting a high quality masterpiece."
"Right…"
"And now, I must stop you Watterson from spreading more chaos."
"Oh come on! You can't be serious! We can't be held responsible for some holistic problems of Elmore. If anything, you should be investigating someone more powerful and influential!"
"He's right!" said Anais. "You CANNOT blame EVERYTHING on US Watterson."
"Yes, I can," Larry gives the girl a rebuttal. "And I have tangible proof that you had done many damages."
"Ok," said Gumball. "So maybe that we had made collateral damage in different places from long time ago. But, that was an innocent accident and we should be exempt from it somehow, right?" The eldest brother looks at the younger siblings, only to get confused remark.
"Actually… You are right that your family, namely Nicole, is fixing up all the misdeeds that you guys have done. But, you had made big scenes in different location at different times and the city's elites are concerned about it."
"Wait a second…" Gumball begins to suspect Larry of being part of something sinister. "What happened to you working in Ripley 2000, Joyful Burger, and many other retail stores in Elmore?"
"That ended not a while ago. Now meet…" Larry is slowly moving his body, only to make an overtly dramatic pose. By the time he made the pose, he conjured few rock spires from the ground he stands on, shouting "Rockman, Agent of the GIGA Organization!"
The three siblings gasp with horror as their face is drawn together with starkly defined shadows detailed on their face along with vividly bright Warholian colors on them.
"That's right! I'm Rockman, Agent of the GIGA Organization! And you're under arrest for many recent crimes: illegal use of superpowers, criminal vigilantism, disturbing the peace, city property damage, being accomplices with other criminals, and most of all… direct deviance against the city authority."
"The only authority that we defy is the illegitimate authority!" said Darwin.
"What gives you the right to decide which authority is 'legitimate' or 'illegitimate?'" asked Rockman.
"We the people!" said Lexy.
"Pff… Elmore is already in unstable state. And because of that, its people are deemed incapable of decision making in bigger and larger situations. And besides, many of them could be deemed criminals and thus undeserving of self-governance. The wild ravages of the urban environment…"
"And what business do you want!" Gumball responded with aggressive tone.
"As I was saying, you had directly defied the interest of the nation! You all, except for Lexy since she's new, were responsible for making false statement on the currently-not-mysterious Watterson genius, an individual of great importance to our Organization."
"What…" Gumball is trying to play dumb along with Darwin and Lexy. The twin sister of Gumball is doing the job effectively, mostly due to the inexperience of the Watterson family lifestyle and her long absence while being a lost wanderer for fifteen years. While they were somewhat dozing off, Rockman noticed that something is wrong. So he used the one facet of his sharply refined geokinesis ability to sense everything around him using the earth's subtle vibration itself. He then detected Anais, who is sneakily walking up the stair, only for be blocked by the rock spires that spontaneously erect from the staircase itself. She jumps back with surprise. As she walked back, she quickly got engulfed by the Venus flytrap, entirely made of rock.
The three siblings got surprised that the young genius got captured as the same flytrap reappears by the newly recruited agent's side. He free the little girl from the flytrap and bringing a sense of relief to her, only to take it all away swiftly by snatching her with his arms and runs off to the van.
"Guards, get them!" said Rockman as he pushed his "arrest" into the van, enter the driver's seat, and drive off.
"Ah shish-kabob!" Gumball cursed. "Larry just turned out to be one of the GIGA Agent and got away with Anais. Quick! We need to get her back before she's gone!"
"But what shall we do about the other agents?" asked Darwin as men in black suits are walking toward them.
Gumball lets out an aggravated sighs.
Later, Rockman is driving the black van with Anais captive on the back seat. He is driving with his two hands on the wheel, smiling with excitement that his personal life along with generally rest of Elmore coming to peace. Or so he thought, the GIGA Organization has clever rouses to keep new recruits subordinated to its catechism. The radio turns on.
"Hello, Agent Rockman," said the head's voice. "You have retrieved the Watterson genius."
"Yes," said Rockman. "And based on my account, she may be solely responsible for the chaos that had occurred periodically on Elmore."
"So, you're suggesting that I'm criminally insane?" asked Anais.
"Maybe not insane as our profilers suggest," the head's voice replied. "But, your intellectual talent has grown too hazardous for anyone's good. You're responsible for The Finale, the infamously great chaos of Elmore." He is referencing to the big incident that occurred three years back. The family's antic has caused great damaged, yet every recollection of such event was erased as if the whole city is placed under some strange spell. Maybe few were able to resist the effect of the city-wide spell; but many, including the Watterson themselves, forget about it.
"Wait what…" Anais become confused as she too falls for the huge memory wipe after The Finale.
"Zap her with the memory rod," said the head's voice.
So, the agent grabs the device and zaps her head, restoring the memories of The Finale. More specifically, he planned that the family must commit greater atrocities to reverse the whole thing back to status quo. And by thinking critically onto it, she realizes that it's not by the laws of nature that allow it to happen, but was rather directly caused by some intelligent force. But, no one knows who or what changed everything back to normal. It almost seems as if there is a powerful, intelligent entity that is distorting reality with his sheer willpower, yet nobody knows.
"Murphy's Law?" said Anais with a confused face.
"Yeah… that's a very redundant trope," said Rockman. "Any dumb-head will recreate it into reality. And because of it, you will be far away from your family." The agent's voice becomes darker and grimmer.
"But that's not fair!" the little girl protests.
"Life isn't fair!" Rockman respond back with much anger.
"Feels like that it's for petty vengeance against my brothers."
"And you and your parents," said the head's voice.
"Shut up! I'm doing it for a pure, non-ulterior motive."
"Oh yeah! I forgot that we're doing stuff for the glory of our nation and our Organization."
"Oh shut up with the stupid organization!" Anais shout out with frustration.
"Oh would you just be still and behave well for once!" Rockman yelled as he turns his head behind. As the agent looks away from the road, the masked motorcyclist mysteriously appeared in front of the van and used "Gyro Drill" on its front. The engine exploded violently with Rockman flying backward along with Anais.
With Anais and Rockman out of the now wrecked vehicle, Gyroball and Goldfishman come to scene. The two masked heroes have a face-off against the "friendly" retail worker turned "despicable" GIGA Agent. A teenage girl in a black jumpsuit and gadgets came in. That girl is Lexy, who somehow found the clothing that may have presumably belonged to either Anais or Nicole; more likely, it belongs to Nicole as Anais made a smaller version. So if anything, she is wearing a "prototype" of "Plug-Bunny" suit.
"So," said Rockman. "We meet again."
"Yeah," said Gyroball. "Now give us our sister!"
"Hah! Fat chance! The only way that you'll get her is to FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!"
By the time Rockman finished his sentence, he was blasted on the face by a "gyro-ball." He jerks back as the energy projectile hit his face with Anais looking at him with shock. With dust cloud from the attack being cleared off, a piece of rock sticks out from where the bruise is supposed to be.
"Now that's just RUDE!" said Rockman.
"Now give us our sister back!" said Gyroball.
"NEVER! Not until you PAY THE CONSEQUENCES!"
"Dude!" said Goldfishman. "You just got to LET IT GO!"
"NO!" Rockman protests. "If I let you (Watterson) go without anything, you will still be bound to cause chaos and RUIN MY [bleep]-ING LIFE!"
"Whoa! Language!" said Anais.
"I don't freaking care! My life is already a mess with you in it! And all that I can do is use all my time and power to stopping you. No…" Rockman made a dramatic cause, changing the mood into a more broody manner. "I will END YOU WATTERSON!"
"What!" The four children cried with shock.
"You seriously are considering on…" Goldfishman is making some random gestures, trying to convey that Rockman is considering on taking out the whole family.
"What are you trying to say?" asked Rockman. "You're random gestures make no sense."
"YOU'RE TRYING TO KILL US!" Goldfishman made himself explicitly clear of what he think the enemy is considering.
"NO! That's just horrible. Even though that it may be ideally good in some rare cases, I just can never consider doing that. If anything, I will just make a somewhat safer and less horrific but still nonetheless punishing act like splitting apart your family."
The four siblings become shocked by that prospect. Perhaps, they felt a powerful sense of dread as it is the worst thing that could have happen to them. It is even worse that just having Darwin temporarily pulled out of the family by the GIGA Organization from the last three years go. And it's even worse than the initial threat that the GIGA Organization will steal Anais away and leave the family for ruins from the beginning of their superhero crusading. And for Lexy, it will mean that her long time of wandering will become meaningless; that her search for the family she once belonged to will be reduced to nothing.
"That's right!" Rockman continued on. "Split the family apart as in well… it means what it sounds like somewhat, that each member of an incredibly dangerous family will be instituted in different location far away from each other."
Gyroball falls down with the feeling of loss and depression. The three siblings look at him with worry. But while the leader is on the ground, he slowly rises with an aura so dark and horrifying that the siblings quickly become dreaded. Even Rockman felt the horrible wave of energy that he had to harden his heart, both metaphorically and literally as he have the ability to transmute any part of his body into hard rock. He forms two "gyro-balls," which is considerably darker colored than the original variant. In fact, the dark gyro-balls have stronger gravitational pull as things are being ripped apart from the ground and sucked into its vortex. And within the powerful gravity well that is reaching out with a strong vortex, physical matters are being de-atomized, spaghettified into pool of superfluid plasma. It is almost as if his gyro-balls become a black hole.
"Still have the fighting will?" said Rockman as he tried his best to remain his cool demeanor as he is witnessing his opponent at his most powerful state. "Then COME AT ME BRO!"
Before anything could happen, they were interrupted by some surprise guests. They meet Richard, Nicole, and two moose-eared girls. One of them with a pink skin complexion is Karen, Larry's girlfriend and fiancé. The other with a yellowish-orange skin complexion is presumably Nicole's friend and coworker and Karen's relative. Their surprise visit has caused Gyroball's unknown technique to be cancelled out.
"Larry?" said Karen with worry on your face.
"Anais?" said Nicole as she sees her daughter being held hostage by Larry, who is now Rockman.
"Mom! Dad!" Anais cried out.
"Karen?" Rockman becomes confused and worried for a moment. "What brings you here?"
"We were just having a meeting a while ago. But why are you…"
"Got a new job and…"
"What are you doing with my daughter?" Nciole yelled out.
"Stay back Nicole!" said Rockman. "I'm sending her back to where she should be!"
"What's going on?" Karen become confused as she is seeing what may be a huge conflict between her fiancé and the family of her relative's friend.
"Karen, trust me. But I'm doing this for the sake of our great nation."
"Enough with your great nation bull-load!" Gyroball shouted out.
Nicole turns her eyes to Gyroball, Goldfishman, and the strange substitute that resembles Plug-Bunny but with cat motif instead of rabbit motif. One of them, being Plug-Bunny's substitute, looks suspiciously familiar to the mother. It is as if she's seeing a part of her own life that shouldn't be remembered. Aside from looking at the cat-girl in a jumpsuit, she jumps toward the motorcyclist and perform short and quick martial art maneuver, consisting of grabbling, kicking, and other techniques. She then discards the helmet with her feet, revealing that the masked vigilante is her son, Gumball.
The three younger siblings become shocked about having the secrets unveiled. Anais took this the worse out of everybody as she is becoming more hysterical. Her anxiety has become dangerously agitated that it messes up her psyche; her state of mind quickly falls into instability as all the effort to preserve the secret become a lost cause.
Nicole looks at Goldfishman and the cat-girl in a jumpsuit. Not wanting to be apprehended by their mother, they willingly discard their masks, revealing themselves to be Darwin and Lexy.
"Mother of Gaud," said Nicole with a solemn sense of disbelief. Her friends and husband also fell into disbelief from such a major surprise. "What is all this?"
"Our children were the What-The-Sons!" said Richard.
"I can see that!" Nicole angrily scolded her husband.
"So it's about time," said Rockman with apathy. "The Watterson is revealed to be the What-The-Sons. Care to explain, Nicole?"
"Just…" Nicole stuttered silently. "BRING BACK MY DAUGHTER!" The mother bursts out violently.
"NEVER!" Rockman yelled back. "Not until you PAY FOR THE CONSEQUENCE OF YOUR (the whole Watterson family) ACTIONS!"
She pounces to the agent with a frenzied state. Her eyes glow with vividly bright orange color. And her body is transformed from her normal cat-girl self into a monstrous were-cat with blue fur and sharp fangs.
Then, the mother and the agent fought violently with one another. Their battle is so violent that only their shadows could only be seen. From what is being seen from the shadows is Rockman shooting some solid projectile attacks, which Nicole somehow negates them with her power, which may be related to explosion based on how the enemy's projectile explode. After the little demonstration of the two using their superpowers, they initiate a brutal hand-to-hand combat. All that the children, the fat man and moose-eared girls, and the lone little girl can do is to just watch them fight with grievous shock.
Appalled by what he is seeing along with everyone else, Gumball decides to intervene in this fight. He conjures two gyro-balls and super charged them into larger and denser sphere. He gravitates loose physical particles, adding more mass into his attack, and pounce into the battlefield. He hurled the enhanced "Gyro Giga Drill," each at Rockman and Nicole. The "Gyro Giga Drill" attack is augmented with new features similar to the unknown, failed technique that he subconsciously used when having bottled up negative emotions. As the two combatants are knocked onto the ground, he finished Rockman off with a final strike, a powerful karate chop that draws big quantity of gravitational energy downward to one target. As soon as Rockman get struck by his karate chop, he is violently knocked downward with all the gravitational momentum directed onto his body. The crater that was behind the enemy's back grew at a much larger size along with the strange bar-shaped fissures grown from above his head and below his feet. What the hero had performed is the "Zero X3 Combo," where he attacks with two gyro-balls and finish off with a gravity-enhanced karate chop.
The crowd comes closer to the battlefield, where Gumball stands. Nicole rise up, having returned back to her normal cat-girl self and sit on her knee, looking surprised by her son's physical prowess along with his mastery over his superpower. But, Rockman lies on the crater, being too weak and damaged. Despite of his weakened state, he tried to get his communicator, intending to call back up and finally settle his vendetta against the Watterson. Gumball sees him attempting to make a move, but intercepted by grabbing his communicator and smashing it with one hand.
"NOOOO…." Rockman screamed.
Gumball angrily stomps at his critically injured chest area, causing him to puke dark, oily substance.
"That's enough!" said Karen as she becomes broken by the sight of such violent battle. She comes closer to Rockman, worried about his wellbeing.
"Sorry, Karen," said Rockman. "I must do what I must…" He tried to get up, but is stopped by the sharp painful sensation of his injured body.
"Stop it, Larry! This isn't who you are! You're not a…"
"No! I can't let them harass me with all the hardship that I deal with. For every disastrous antics they're up to, I'm the VICTIM! Me! I had to pay for all their crime due to the messed up world we live in. In fact, they're the one who messed up everything so that everything will just go on in their way. It's the amazing world of Gumball!" He said the last sentence with mocking tone. "But what about you and me? They could ruin our relationship, our love for each other, everything that we all worked up, all because of their accidents. And so, to protect our lives, I must finish this madness off."
Seeing that Rockman is trying to continue his unfinished business, Gumball is about to intervene, only for the hero to be stopped by Karen with a slap on the face.
"Ow…" said Gumball.
"That's enough. He can't do anything anymore," Karen assured the hero.
"But we can't leave him anymore! He's…"
"ENOUGH!" As the pink moose-eared girl yelled, everybody silences. She turns to Rockman. "Just enough with all of this! You just need to let it go…"
"No…" said Rockman. "I just can't. I have told you. The Watterson is a disaster that ought to be stopped!" The agent is still trying to act against the family, despite of how critically injured he is. But as he tried to rise up, the sharp pain of his body ache overtook him; he collapsed, having fallen unconscious as he dropped back to the same lying position he was.
"Larry… LARRY!" Karen cried out her fiancé's name. "Anybody, call the ambulance. He needs medical attention!"
"Already called them," said Anais as she holds some kind of electronic communicator. "Help should be on the way."
"Just leave us be," said Karen with a solemnly soft tone. "Having you staying here won't do you or especially Larry any good."
"But why?" asked Nicole as she looks at her work friend's relative.
"I don't want you to be in trouble like the last infamous event from three years ago. Having you being near Larry will cause you to get negative legacy of brutalizing an innocent man."
"Wait a second…" said Richard. "But didn't we already brutalize him."
Nicole glared at her husband for being so oblivious and possibly stupid. Then, she glared at Gumball for being too aggressive and violent like herself.
"What?" said Richard. "But that's the statement of fact."
"And it's a bit of an inappropriate time to say such thing," Nicole responded angrily.
"I'm just so sorry about Larry and his maniacal obsession of ruining your family. But I just wonder if the atrocities he done to you is legitimate."
"What do you mean?" asked Nicole.
"I mean, whenever I see him, he seems to hold a huge grudge against your whole family. As his fiancé, I have an obligation to know what's going on to his personal life as his problems also affect our relationship."
Nicole just raised her ear with confusion, trying to understand more about her now-presumably former friend's problem. She remembers him as the man that helped them a lot; whenever they go to any retail store, they find him there to help them.
"Larry wasn't a violent revenge-obsessed man. Something must have happened to him to make it that way. And it seems that you were somehow held responsible for the things that are happening in his life. If what he said is true, that your family creates chaos and he ends up becoming victim of it, then I think that he may have legitimacy for his madness."
"That we should be separated and incarcerated in separate prisons?" said Gumball.
Nicole glares at him, wanting him to shut up before he makes anything worse.
"I believe so," said Karen. "He thought that he could lead a more peaceful and happier life if those conditions were to be filled. But it will be a tragedy if he didn't get his own peace and happiness that he deserves."
"I see."
"If you all were to do some favor for Larry like maybe pay for the consequences, then he may be at peace. But, I understand that doing such a task will be extremely difficult and near impossible to fulfill."
"Hmm…" Nicole slumps down as she feels remorse, feeling that she should have paid for the consequences of their action and not has some random innocent bystander like Larry become a sacrificial scapegoat for their survival. In fact, the whole family become sadden and probably guilt-ridden as they see that the consequences that they ought to pay earlier had grown tremendously. It had earned them the hatred and madness from a man that meant quite a lot to the family as he's mostly there whenever the family needs to get items from various retail stores.
"Sorry if I offend any of you," Karen apologized as she tried to not be too hard on the Watterson family for burdening Larry.
"No. If anything, we should be the one who's apologizing."
"I think that she should get going before you get caught. You had gone with a lot of troubles."
"Yeah…" So, the whole family quickly left before they could make a huge scene out of Larry's "accident." With the superhero secrets out and a friend-turned-enemy earned, what will happen to Watterson or What-The-Sons? It's now ambiguous of what to call them as the secrets are out; that the children of an ordinary family are a secret vigilante team and vice versa. Will the What-The-Sons retire from superhero business due to the tragedy that has recently occurred along with Larry or Rockman's claim of them causing more harm than good? Will the family be split apart as the GIGA Organization has reassured? And what about the once innocent retail worker turned revenge obsessed secret agent? What will happen when he and the family he hated crosses path again? Find out more in the next and probably the final episode of The Amazing Gyroball as the saga is coming to its conclusion. The secrets are out and there's no more secrecy or even battle against the villainous forces. It may as well as be the GIGA Organization's victory in some sense. But nonetheless, stay tune for the conclusion as the Watterson will decide what's next for the show of their life; of whether to continue their adventure or end it.
With everything seemingly come to an end, what's your thought on it? Are there anything that I need to fix up like grammar, context, anything? Comment me on the review box below, or you could PM me (which for some reason is unpopular, I dunno why).
So far from what I had written in this series, this episode is what I personally considered to be the most darkest and depressing episode in my series, perhaps far more than Darwin's episode (EP5). Whenever I tried to "storyboard" it in my own mind, it is incredibly intense and emotionally exhilarating, especially when he holds Anais hostage and told off the whole family for the price of ruining his life. This pretty much solidified his role as the "arch-nemesis" of the What-The-Sons as the family has wronged him and he want revenge. Superheroes tend to piss some people off and make them into villains. And I like to spice up the complex moral dilemmas like gray-and-gray morality instead of the strict black-and-white morality.
So yeah, if anything more had to be said, comment me or PM me. And spoiler alert: I will later be doing a two-part finale for this series, but I may consider making a sequel or "season two" of this series, if there is lot of supports or interests. It depends on my schedule since I'm currently in school. So, stay tune and see ya next time! Hey, I'm finishing up my goal to finish it off before the end of year 2014.
