A/N: Sorry, it's been awhile, huh? But summer's coming, which means a LOT more free time! It's been rough being a senior, but the stress is almost gone now. A final paper, a final math test, and a speech I have to write and I'm done :D So excited!
"Yes And I'm Sure The Arena Will Be Full Of Bags Of Flour For Me To Chuck At People" - Peeta; The Hunger Games
-Peeta
Chapter 3:
Peeta
Peeta was not having a good morning.
His two older brothers dipped his hand in warm water while he was sleeping.
His mom had found out.
His mom had beaten him white and blue with the rolling pin. White because there was still flour on the cooking utensil. Blue because—
Well, have you seen Peeta?
That boy is as white as the bag of flour he swings around.
Anyways, Peeta had not had a good morning. He held out hope for the rest of the day though. He would watch the unlucky pair of kids get reaped, mope for a bit, and maybe do some advertising for the bakery.
He didn't know why the sales were always so high at this time, but he figured people just liked to comfort eat.
And maybe if he got lucky he could stalk Katniss!
Her stubbornness, her awkwardness, her cockiness, her rudeness; Peeta loved it all!
He turned into a purplish grape just thinking about her.
I mean, sure, she hadn't so much as looked in his direction, but he would always remember that first conversation they had, not even two weeks ago. It went like this:
He was just walking along the street, minding his own business, when someone rammed into him. The person fell to the ground, but he remained standing. He looked down and recognized Katniss.
'O.M.G! It's Katniss! Ok, act cool,' Peeta reached out a hand to help her up.
"Hey, are you ok? Here, let me—garaof!,"
"Don't touch me! I'm just too shy to talk to the opposite gender…please be patient with me!"
"Hajreireqkgf!" Peeta was the one on the ground now, curled into a protective girly ball.
After a second the pain started to recede, but she was still there, and as soon as he stopped screaming…
She kicked him in that place the sun doesn't shine one more time, a LOT harder for maximum pain, and ran away.
"Uaisvsjkfidbauahoi!"
Ok.
So maybe she didn't exactly say that, but that's what he heard over his cries of pain. He could still feel the kick, and the limp hadn't totally gone away as of yet.
Huh.
Anyways he had memorized Katniss's schedule and knew that at this moment she was selling strawberries to the mayor's weird daughter.
That's the only place Peeta wouldn't follow Katniss.
Madge freaked him out.
He caught her in the boy's bathroom at school one day just staring in the mirror while he…relieved himself. It was traumatic.
As he started walking towards the Reaping in his blue dress suit and red shoes, he started singing under his breath—
We're off to see the Reaping,
The horrible reaping of kids.
There'll be screaming and crying,
And stabbing and dying,
In District TWELVVEEEE~
The worst, most horrible time of the yearrrrrrr!
.
.
.
End.
That song was in the tune of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". So ironic. xD
KatnisSorenRainbowDoom : Thanks! I'm glad you like it! Sorry for the wait and I will definitely check out some of your stories soon!
ButtercupRulesPeetaSucks : You think so? Thanks, I was arguing with myself about it, because I have this weird fear that one day only I will ever think I'm funny xD
So there is going to be another part to this, probably next chapter if I don't have another idea, that has to do with his thoughts during the actual reaping. Fun~
Love it. Hate it. Tell me!
Thanks for all the Reviews!
