[Chapter 17: Triassic Triumph!]
Hayley's Cyber Cafe!
Trent was waiting tables which made Hayley smile as Conner, Kira, Jessica, and Ethan walked in.
"Some one seems a little happy today," Ethan said as he, Conner, Kira, and Jessica sat at the counter.
Hayley who was working behind the counter, turned to them, and smiled a smile that reached her eyes.
"Oh, hey," Hayley greeted, "it's so good to have Trent back."
"Yeah," Conner agreed, "with the new attitude adjustment his almost likeable."
Trent was just walking up behind Conner.
"I heard that," Trent said as he hit Conner in the side lightly.
Trent walks around them to stand in front of Hayley.
"Two more Cyber-berry Blasts, please?" Trent asked Hayley.
"So how's it going?" Conner asked.
"Fantastic," Trent answered, "I feel like a new man."
"We're just glad the old man is back," Kira said as Ethan nods in agreement, "you're one of us now. No more secrets."
Trent looking away thinking about what she said while Jessica looked at him worried. After a bit Trent got back to work before he came up to their tables where he got their glass making Jessica smile.
"Let's go," Ethan said, "that report ain't going to write itself."
"I'll catch up with you at the library," Trent told him
Jessica smiled at Trent as he walked away before Conner stood up looking at the new guy.
"What's his deal?" Conner asked standing up.
Kira, Ethan, and Jessica stood up as well and went to stand on either side of Conner watching.
"Alexi Poporof," Cassidy said as she walked up to the poor boy, "exchange student, soccer genius. So, what do you think of the soccer team here at Reefside. And do you think we have shot at the Super Bowl?"
"Sorry Cassidy," Jessica said as she walked up to them, "but, Super Bowl is Football while in Soccer it's the World Cup."
"Cup, bowl, whatever!" Cassidy said before she turns back to Alexi, "so, what do you think of the team?"
"No, I'm sorry, I can't speak with you now," Alexi answered before he walked away.
"Ok, what's with that?" Cassidy asked.
Conner watches Alexi leave the cafe.
"She's never cared about soccer before," Conner said, "at least, she's never wanted to interview me."
"Someone's looking a little more green than red," Ethan told
Kira and Jessica started laughing.
"I'm not jealous," Conner told them, "it's just…if he's that good, he should be on our club team. I'm going to go see if he's joined up with anyone."
"Jealous," Ethan told the two girls.
"So Jealous," they agreed.
The three of them laughed as they watched Conner leave through the doors.
Somewhere in the city!
Conner, Jessica, Ethan, and Kira where walking around talking when the Red Ranger brought up Alexi.
"So, don't you think it was rude?" Conner asked,, "I mean, he doesn't even think about it. He just walks away."
"I'm sure he's got a good reason," Kira told him, "why don't you just ask him again?"
"Look, I'd love to stay and hash this out with you guys, but if I don't get to the library soon, I'm totally going to fail this project," Ethan stated before he started to walk away.
"Then proper to fail Blue Ranger," Zeltrax told him making Ethan to stop.
"I know I should have gone straight there," Ethan told the others as moved to stand next to them.
Zeltrax raised his hand and then snapped his figures before two blurs appeared slashing at the four Rangers knocking them to the ground.
"Good work," Zeltrax told them.
The four Rangers looked up to see a new monster, but the White Ranger standing there looking at them.
"Didn't even break a sweat," the White Ranger said.
"Trent?" Jessica asked.
"This can't be real," Ethan said as he looked Conner.
"Oh it's real," Zeltrax told them.
The four Rangers stood up from the ground looking at the White Ranger in shock.
"What are you going Trent?" Conner asked.
"I don't know any Trent," the White Ranger answered, "all I know is that you'll soon be destroyed."
"Conner, I don't think that's Trent," Jessica told him.
"Don't even go there Jessica," Conner growled.
"We just saw him in the Cyber Cafe, Conner," Jessica pointed out, "in case you've forgotten."
"I'm so over this," Conner growled ignoring Jessica, "ready?"
"Ready."
"Dino Thunder! Power Up! Ha!"
"Dino Power!"
"Wait," Zeltrax told them, "allow me."
Zeltrax charged in to attack the Rangers as the monster and White Ranger looked at each other.
"Let's get a better view," the White Ranger told the creature.
"Right," it agreed before they jumped up.
"Fire!" Conner said as he fired his Thundermax blaster.
Zeltrax blocks the shots with his shield before he then blasts Conner with blue lighting knocking him to the ground. Kira, Jessica, and Ethan run over and stand in front of him, all three shoot at Zeltrax, but the robotic warrior runs towards them. The shots bounce off Zeltrax who leaps into the air to attack Kira, Jessica, and Ethan. Conner scrambles up as Kira, Jessica, and Ethan are knocked to the side before he and Zeltrax fight one-on-one. Zeltrax hits Conner in the chest with his sword and Conner stumbles back.
"Touchy," Conner said.
The two of them started to fight again before Zeltrax grabs Conner under the arm and throws him over his shoulder. Conner hits the ground so Jessica, Ethan, and Kira run over to stand in front of him again.
"Conner!" Ethan said.
"You okay?" Kira asked.
"Yup," Conner answered as he stood up.
However, all four of them where blasted back to the ground by Zeltrax
"Now you're mine," Zeltrax told them before he started running towards them.
"Conner!" Ethan shouted.
"Catch!" Kira yelled.
Jessica watched as Ethan and Kira throw Conner their lasers.
"Got it!" Conner said as he cought them and jumps through the air towards Zeltrax. "Double trouble!"
Conner shoots Zeltrax with both lasers, sending Zeltrax flying backwards through the air. The evil White Ranger and Terrorsaurus leap down to stand in front of him. Jessica, Kira, and Ethan run up behind Conner, who points both lasers at the evil White Ranger.
"So you stopped Zeltrax," the White Ranger said, "try to stop my Terrorsaurus."
Jessica and the others started to back up as Terrorsaurus starts walking towards the Rangers.
"Let me show you the extent of my powers," Terrorsaurus said, "you will be defeated.
Just then Trent appears from behind the Terrorsaurus on his White Dino ATV, shooting at the Terrorsaurus.
"Not on my watch!" Trent said.
"Trent!" Jessica called out in relief.
"Hey, guys," Trent greeted when he got off his Dino ATV, "thought I join the fun."
"Wait," Ethan said as he looked back and forth, "who's who?"
"Guys it's me," Trent answered.
"Enjoy your reunion while you can," the evil White Ranger said, "nothing you do can stop us now."
Zeltrax, Terrorsaurus, and the evil White Ranger disappear in a flash of green light.
"Okay, power down," Trent said as the others powered down as well before meeting Trent. "You guys ok?"
"Great," Conner answered, "you've got a brother that you never told us about?"
Dino Lab!
All 6 Rangers where gathered in the lab as Tommy ran scans on the new Evil White Rangers. Jessica stood next to Trent while Kira was in front of them and the other 6 rangers where next to the two of them.
"Okay, so we barely get one White Ranger under control, and then one more shows up," Kira stated as she paced, "any idea on who they could be?"
"I have no clue," Trent answered.
"My sensors show some kind of cloned energy force," Tommy told them as he turned around, "their probably not even a living being at all."
"Yeah, they may not be alive, but their kicks sure felt real," Conner told him.
"Dr O never said that he wasn't real," Jessica stated as she continued to look at Conner pointedly, "he's a threat alright."
"Well, now that that's settled what's with that Terrorsaurus?" Ethan asked, "man, he was raggedy."
"He's giving of some of the same readings as the other White Ranger," Tommy answered, "it's almost like they were one and the same."
"I knew it," Conner said as he started to walk over to Trent, "you should never have been here in the first place."
Jessica moved to stand in front of Trent protectively while the White Ranger stood up, but Tommy and Ethan ran after Conner catching him before he found out that Jessica was not one to mass with.
"Not now, Conner," Tommy said as he placed a hand on Conner's shoulder, "we're gonna need back-up, big time. Trent, come with me." He walked over to him. "Let's go."
"Not me or one of the others?" Conner asked.
"You'll have your role to play in this Conner," Tommy answered as he looked back, "trust me. Right now I need Trent. Keep an eye on the city and call us if that thing returns." Tommy looked at Trent again. "Come on."
Wind Academy!
Jessica raised her wooden sword and blocked Cam's strike before backing away from him. The two Samurais continued to trade blows when two beeps rung through the air. Jessica disengaged from Cam's own sword before looking at her morpher.
"Go," Cam told her, "they might need you."
Jessica nodded before bowing and taking off for the lab.
Dino Lab!
Jessica ran up to Kira and Ethan with Conner who she had meet on the way in.
"What's up?" Conner asked as he looked at the screen.
"Our problem only got a lot bigger," Kira answered as the creature from before appeared on the screen.
"He's the woods outside of town," Ethan informed them after looking for the location.
"So what are we waiting for?" Conner asked.
"Our orders, remember?" Kira asked, "Dr O said to call him and Trent if that guy showed up again."
"Yeah, but why?" Conner asked making the two girls to look at him, "I mean, obvious they have something important to do. We can handle this." Ethan and Conner looked at the two girls. "Come on."
"Ok," Kira agreed, "but, the minute things get ugly we call for back up."
"Sure," Conner agreed.
"Let's do it," Ethan agreed, "we'll call the Zords from here."
Jessica moved to the side to allow the three primary Rangers to by her.
"I'll stay here and keep watch," she informed them.
Conner nodded his head at her before raising his arm.
"Ready?"
"Ready!"
"Dino Thunder! Power Up! HA!"
The three primary Rangers quickly morphed. Once they where out of the lab, Jessica took Ethan's set in front of the computer and turned to watch the fight. The Green Ranger couldn't help, but gasped when her friends where knocked out of their Zords and three Dinos were taken by the monster.
The woods with Trent and Tommy!
Trent walked next to Tommy while they passed a river.
"Thanks, Dr. O. for trusting me," Trent thanked, "it means a lot."
The two of them ended up crossing the river to the other side of the bank.
"I do trust you, Trent," Tommy said, "but, I meant what I said in the lab. This mission had to be yours."
"Why?" Trent asked.
"There's an ancient artifact that was hidden out here centuries ago," Tommy answered as they continued to walk, "I've known its whereabouts for a while, but a power source can retrieve it."
"Mine?" Trent asked as he stopped walking.
"Yes," Tommy answered as he, too, stopped walking and turned to face them, "your chameleon power. With them you should be able to retrieve the artifact from its hiding place. But, I'm warning you, it won't be easy."
"I'm ready," he told him.
"Good," Tommy said with a nod, "let's go."
Trent started to follow Tommy who had at that time started walking again.
Waterfall!
It wasn't long till they came upon a waterfall.
"Is this it?" Trent asked.
"Yup," Tommy answered, "it's there in the water." The two came to a stop on the shore line of the waterfall. "Ok. Raise your arms like this." The two of them raised their left arms up, bent at the elbow, fists clenched, and Dino Gems facing outwards. "Now concentrate! Use the Dino Gem power."
Trent nodded before they closed their eyes and focused. Both gems lite up before energy from all three shot into the water.
"There it is," Tommy said.
Trent opened his eyes and gasp in shock as the Shield of Triumph glows.
"It's working," Trent said.
"Don't break the concentration," Tommy told him, "stay focus."
Dino Lab!
Jessica stood up from the chair that she was setting in and quickly morphed before running out to join the others.
Battle Field!
"Guys!" she called out as she ran up to them.
Just as Jessica joined them Conner raised a hand to his head.
"Whoa...I'm getting a weird feeling," Conner breathed, "somethings calling me." It was that Conner saw a some kind of Dino before it vanished and was replaced with a Ranger. "Whoa."
"Conner?" Kira asked as she placed a hand on his arm, "you ok?"
"I think so," Conner answered with a nod.
All four of them looked over at the creature who shrink down to their height before they fall into a fighting stance.
"Your heads to big for your helmets?" the creature asked.
"What have you done with our Zords?" Conner asked as he walked forward.
"You should be more worried about what I'm going to do to you," the Creature answered him, "your Zords belong to me now." All four Rangers heard the cry of the Zords as the monster got ready to fight. "Prepare for your demise."
Terrorsaurus started to fly at the Rangers.
"In your dreams!" Conner yelled as all four of them fired their blasters at it, but to their surprise it did nothing against them. "Watch out!"
The Rangers fall to the ground as Terrorsaurus claws hit them as he flew past them.
"Heads up!" Ethan yelled as it came back back at them.
"Ethan!" Jessica yelled as the Terrorsaurus grabbed him.
"Let me go!" the Blue Ranger ordered.
"Have it your way!" it cackled before dropping Ethan on into the water.
"Ethan!" Conner called as he and the two girls ran over to him.
"Nasty," Kira groaned.
"What is up this this guy?" the Red Ranger asked.
"You are powerless against me," it cackled once it had landed on the ground.
Conner turned his head to look at the other three Rangers.
"Let's try our sabres," he suggested.
The other three nodded.
"Yeah."
"Thundermax Sabre Power Up!" Ethan yelled as all four Rangers pulled them out before running at the monster.
However, just like their blasters it proved to have no effect Terrorsaurus at all and that he was just to strong.
Waterfall!
"Oh man," Trent groaned.
"Keep on going Trent," Tommy tried to encourage him, "we almost got it."
"I'm trying Dr O," Trent groaned, "I'm...losing...control."
Battle Field!
It didn't take the Terrorsaurus long to have all four Rangers on the ground.
"Maybe we should have waited for Dr O," Conner conceded.
"You think?" Ethan asked him as they struggled to get up.
"Slightly," Kira answered.
"Prepare to be destroyed," Terrorsaurus told them as it started to walk up to them while they continued to struggle to their feet. "Fire!" The Rangers cried out when they where blasted back into the water below the cliff. "Your all washed up. Time to destroy your city."
The Terrorsaurus took to the air leaving the Rangers to get to the surfaced and wade out all wet and really annoyed.
"Great idea Conner," Kira groaned.
"Yeah," Ethan agreed as they made it to the shore, "got any more bri..."
"Wait," Conner told him making all three of his friends to look at him, "it's happening again." He once again placed his hand on his head as he got that same vision. "Something...Something isn't right."
"What do you mean?" Kira asked.
"I can't explain it," Conner answered, "I just now that Trent and Dr O need me."
The three of them watched as Conner took off to find their Black and White Rangers.
Waterfall!
Trent groaned as he tried to stay on his feet.
"I can't hold on much longer."
"Don't let go," Tommy told him, "if we lose it now then it's gone forever."
"Gotta...stay...focus," Trent grind out.
The two of them tried to keep it up, but Trent slips a bit.
"Trent," Tommy called.
"It's...it's slipping," Trent told him, "I can't."
Much to Trent's relief Conner jumped up, grabbed the Shield, somersaulted through the air, and landed in front of Trent and Tommy. Tommy cought Trent before he fall to the ground exhausted.
"How's that for timing?" Conner asked.
"Never Better," Trent answered, "thanks."
"You got the Shield's telepathic message," Tommy told him, "it proves I was right. It proves you're ready."
"Ready for what?" Conner asked.
"The Shield of Triumph," Tommy answered, "only a Ranger in complete sync with the universal Dino energy can handle its power."
"But when you took Trent, I thought..."
"For the Shield to assume full power, all Rangers must contribute a part of themselves," Tommy explained, "Trent has completed his part. Now it's up to the rest of us."
"Tell me what I have to do?" Conner asked, "cause the Terrorsaurus is back and we can use all the help we can get."
Just then Trent knees gave away making Conner leaned forward a bit.
"Trent."
"I have to get Trent back to the lab," Tommy told the Red Ranger, "I'll make my contribution to the Shield, and get it to you as soon as I can." Conner handed the Shield over to Tommy. "You think you could hold off the monster a little longer?"
"I won't let you down," Conner answered before he took off.
Reefside!
"The plan is working perfectly," the Terrorsaurus said.
"Hey!" Conner called out as he and the other three ran up.
"Charge!" they called out as they pulled out their sabres again.
Just as they moved to run forward the creature moved more quickly and knocked them to the ground again in different directions. However, they where quick to regroup.
"Guys, pull it together," Conner told them.
"Terrorsaurus Laser!"
The four Rangers where sent into the air and over the edge of the bridge, but by what looked like lighting. However, instead of landing on their backs on the ground, they had landed on their feet, but the Terrorsaurus followed them.
"Tyranno Staff!" Conner called the weapon forth.
The others watched as Conner went in for an attack only for it to do nothing to the creature and Conner was sent to the ground.
"Tricera..." Ethan started to call out as he jumped at Terrorsaurus, but only to get knocked out of the air.
"Finish?" it asked as it turned to Kira and Jessica.
Kira yelled her Thundermax Blaster in hand only Jessica at the strings on her bow pulled back.
"Not even close," Kira answered as the two girls fired at him only for it to do nothing. "Whoa!"
"That tickled," it stated as it knocked Kira aside before sending Jessica to join the Yellow Ranger on the ground.
"You two alright?" Conner asked as he and Ethan rejoined the girls.
"Yeah," Kira answered as the two of them got to their knees.
"How about an encore?" Terrorsaurus asked as he once again fired at them and sent them to the ground. "First I took your Zords. And now I'll destroy you!"
"Come on Conner!" Ethan groaned, "pull it together!"
"I'm not going to take it," Conner stated as all four Rangers got up, "attack!" Conner went back into the fight before with the others right behind him as well, but the Red Ranger was sent flying again and joined the others on the ground. "I think it's time for Super Dino Mode!"
All four of them went into their new mode as the Terrorsaurus just watched them.
"It won't matter," it told them.
"Wouldn't bet on it," the Red Ranger stated before they ran forward. "Charge!"
"Fire!" Terrorsaurus stated as he fired lasers from it's eyes just as the four Rangers jumped up into the air.
The lasers just sent the Rangers back to the ground again.
"What's he's deal?" Conner asked as he looked at the creature.
"Power Rangers, let me be the first to tell you," Terrorsaurus started to say, "you're doomed."
"We're not done yet," Conner told the creature as he stood up while the others started to get up as well.
"Oh no?" Terrorsaurus asked.
Dino Lab!
Tommy was contributing to the shield after the two Rangers got back to the lab while Trent rested on the steps. Tommy continued to put his energy into the Shield of Triumph before he stops, slumping against the floor making Trent ran forward.
"Dr. O!" Trent shouts.
"I'm fine," Tommy told them, "just a little drained."
"Believe me," Trent said, "I know how you feel."
"It'll be worse for Jessica, Ethan, and Kira," Tommy stated, "I hope they're up for it."
Reefside!
"Conner!" Jessica called out as the Red Ranger was tied up with energy and brought face to face with the Terrorsaurus.
"I've got you now Red Ranger," Terrorsaurus taunted.
The Green Ranger let out a gasp when the Terrorsaurus threw Conner before he landed on the ground.
"Conner!" both her and Kira called out as the three Rangers ran to his side.
"Are you alright?" Kira asked.
"You well learn respect my little pets," Terrorsaurus told them as he walked forward.
"Did he just call us pets?" the Green Ranger asked in surprise.
However, before the others could answer her a really powerful wind hit the Terrorsaurus, but it only blind him.
"Not so fast, vile reptile!" Tommy growled as he ran in front of the 4 teens.
"Lasers!"
The Terrorsaurus fired off a blast of lighting at them only for Tommy to block it with the shield.
"Not this time," Tommy told him before pushing the energy back at Terrorsaurus which knocked him to the ground.
The 4 teens ran forward when Tommy fall to his knees looking worried under their helmets.
"Dr O!"
"Conner, you know what to do," Tommy informed him as he held out the shield.
"Ok," Conner said as he took the shield from Tommy, "Kira, Ethan, Jessica." All four Rangers moved forward to face the Terrorsaurus. "I need your total trust. I need your Dino Powers." Kira looked at her hand while look over at her. "Do you trust me?"
"I do," Kira answered as she looked back at him.
"I always did," Ethan stated.
"I trust Conner," Jessica agreed.
"You won't be sorry," Conner told them as Jessica, Kira, and Ethan held their hands above and under the Dino Thunder symbol which glowed gold before they sent blue, green, and yellow energy into the shield. "Triassic Power Engage!"
They all watched as the shield activates and Conner's ranger suite get's a new upgrade. The other three Rangers fall to their knees and demorphed before standing up and watching Conner take out the Terrorsaurus with the new upgrade.
Dino Lab!
It wasn't long till Tommy walked back into the house with the other 4 Rangers right behind him.
"That shield rocks," Conner said as they started down the stairs.
"No doubt," Kira agrees.
"Thanks for trusting me with your powers, guys," Conner said
They reach the bottom of the stairs and walk into the lab.
"It's only a loan, don't forget that," Ethan told him, "and anything to help get our Zords back."
"I just wish you could have felt what it was like," Conner told them as he looked as his friends, "the power is amazing."
"The Triassic Power was always meant for you, Conner," Tommy told him making all of them to look over, "all you had to do was trust in yourself. Then it was easy for others to trust in you too."
"See?" Ethan asked, "all that jealousy and look how great everything worked out."
"Almost everything," Conner told him before leaving again.
Jessica giggled while she shook her head before leaving to head back home.
