Poof.

With a puff of smoke the large orange toad disappeared. The shark gave a toothy grin, showing his predator teeth and brought his sword up to lay it on his shoulder which caused Dani to shiver in fright. Just who are these people?

"So I stand corrected. Abducting Naruto was your plan," Jiriaya persisted, laying a hand on his hip.

The kid now known as Naruto froze at the sharks deadly grin. "To abduct Naruto... yes. Hehe, those were the orders given to us."

Naruto couldn't believe what he was hearing. His heart thundered so loud he certainly knew that everyone in he room could hear it. He tentatively grazed his belly with his hand, as he swallowed the bitter truth. They are after the fox.

On the other hand Dani grew more confused as the situation progressed. Akatsuki? What is that? What do they want with the kid? Dani scratched her head, this is becoming more troublesome than she first thought. Ghost she could handle... but weird dudes wielding swords that are bigger than her body... yeah... no.

The atmosphere thickened as the chatter subsided, no one made a move. Jiraiya and Kisame stared at one another, waiting for the other to make the first move. A few tense seconds went by when the shark made his move. Kisame gripped Samehada and felt his confidence grow as his sword vibrate with energy in his hand and bloodlust filtered through him. On the other hand, Jiraiya was more preoccupied in keeping his charge and the girl safe. He was confident enough to keep Kisame busy, but the problem laid with his partner. Jiraiya could bet all Naruto's money that Itachi was watching from the shadows, waiting for an opportunity. An opportunity I can't give up!

Dani froze at the velocity of the sharks movement. He almost became like a blur as he made a wide swipe at the old man, his sword tearing at the walls as Jiraiya dodged but kept himself firmly planted between the kids and Kisame. Splinters rained down as Kisame kept swiping, hoping to move the old hermit from his protective position in order to nab the blond.

The shark only stopped when the atmosphere turned icy cold. A shiver ran down Dani's spine as the other cloaked figure came into the spotlight. Blood red eyes swept through the room, stopping briefly on Jiraiya and Naruto, then making a pit stop on Dani. When she felt his gaze, she was tempted to turn invisible. Calm... keep calm. Dani thought to herself as she felt her blood turned to ice.

The raven narrowed his eyes on the girl for a few more seconds before turning towards his partner.

For all her boldness, Dani was grateful when Jiraiya broke the tense atmosphere, "You won't get to Naruto. You have my word."

"Oh. You can guarantee it?"

Naruto flinched at the tone. Dead and cold... why does it sound familiar?

Jiraiya's smirk wasn't warm but nonetheless pressed on with both arms wide, "You know the only way to guarantee it. You two will die by my hand."

This is getting out of hand! Blood shed is about to happen, Dani thought grimly as memories started to resurface. Dani is no stranger to violence or blood, with her being half ghost and living mostly on the streets. She's lost friends to pointless violence, cold grudges that only stood to poison those in the same vaccinity. Oh, she's got to witness a few things that normal people don't ever get to see in their lives, which made protecting those that can't protect themselves or in need of help so important to her. She lives and breaths for the next fight, but that all might be traits she got from Danny, but the only person who would know that... Don't ever think of him!

Dani yanked herself from her thoughts and straightened out. She took a deep breath to focus and get the blood rushing again. Her priority needs to be the kid, she needs to get him out of here. The old man seems to be able to hold himself quiet well, she will probably have to rush back to get him too-

A deeply upset growl boomed throughout the hallway, "DON'T YOU DARE!"

Far behind Itachi and Kisame, a small shadow stepped into the light. It's the other boy! Dani thought as she watched him lean heavily on the wall. His injured body trembled from the severity of his wounds... or was it rage?

His body continued to tremble as he shuffled against the wall. "He is MINE."

Itachi's expression didn't change. "I have absolutely no interest in you right now. Don't stand in my way."

The boy raised his head and Dani couldn't hold her gasp. Blood red eyes. Like the man in the cloak. Dani's suspicion grew. Those aren't a fashion statement. I think they are related.

Naruto took an unnecessary step when Sasuke yelled in outrage, "NARUTO! Don't! I told you this fight is MINE!" By the end of his shout, Sasuke fell down onto his knees, panting in exhaustion.

Revenge... huh... Jiraiya thought as he took in Sasuke's exhausted form.

The silence in the room was disturbing and tense. Sasuke soon grew tired of it and lunged up from his position on the floor, "Come on!-"

Sasuke gaped as Itachi buried his fist in his gut, then rained him with more powerful blows that seem to sap his remaining energy. He... moved... I... didn't even see! Pain bloomed throughout his body. Sasuke gasped as he curled around his stomach, his vision slowly blurring.

Naruto was certain he tasted blood. He clenched his jaws tight as he saw his friend... perhaps his best friend... getting beaten up. He finally snapped when Kisame commented, "No mercy. Not even for brothers."

Naruto made a lunge for Itachi when an arm wound itself around his midsection. "Stay behind me, Naruto!" Jiraiya ordered as he struggled to restrain the blond.

A small pool of blood began to form under the body of Sasuke, who only gasped for air. Slowly Itachi pulled Sasuke up by his neck, only tightening his hand when they were at eye level. Forcing Sasuke to meet his gaze.

While Naruto continued to struggle Dani could only handle so much in so little time. Without much thinking, she gathered her ecto-energy from the bottom of her feet and flipped her body sideways. Once she gathered enough momentum, she let her energy launch off her feet.

"No! You might hurt him!" Naruto yelled as he saw green energy waves be aimed at his injured friend.

Although Dani counted herself among one of the most impulsive people she has ever met, she could still think on her feel. She was about to tell the blond that she wasn't aiming for his friend, she was aiming for the ground near his friend, when an unlikely site met her eyes.

Itachi remained untouched. To make her even more mad he doesn't even seem to be bothered by the blast. Suddenly, Sasuke when limp and then he started to scream. "AAAAGHHHH!"

Dani forced back a flinch as the pain filled scream grew in volume, but while she and Jiraiya froze, Naruto acted. He'd never heard such a painful scream from his friend, not even when they went up against Haku. All Naruto knew, was that he had to do something before his friend was killed. He lunged at Itachi for the second and was met with a kick to the gut that left him gasping for air. Kisame went to chop Naruto legs off with his sword but was met with another blast from Dani, who this time aimed for sword. Samehada began to thrash and screech in pain, making it difficult to control.

The shark snarled as he kept his grip and hissed, "You'll pay for this!"

Radioactive green eyes narrowed as Kisame charged when suddenly Jiraiya yell "GAMAGUCHI SHIBARI." He slammed his hands on the ground and slowly everything started to change. The floors and the walls started to turned pink and slimy. The atmosphere grew humid, as the floor beneath her soften.

"What the hell?!" Dani yelled as she jumped into the air. Watching in amazement as the walls started to absorb Sasuke, when Itachi dropped him. Dani then decided to stay in the air (Not because she was scare of being absorbed) and kept her eyes trained on the two dangerous cloaks.

"Too bad Kisame... Itachi. You are all trapped... inside my toads stomach," Jiraiya stated as he shuffled Naruto behind him once again.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me," Dani muttered, as the flicked one of the walls. Instantly regretting the squishy sound it made. I bet Danny never had to deal with this!

"I hope you enjoy being food for Iwagama, although I admit that it's not the best way to go out," Jiraiya said, with a playful smirk on his face.

"Pervy sage! I don't want to be food for whoevers stomach this is!" Naruto yelled, as he clinged to Jiraiya's arm.

"I told you not to call me that brat-"

Itachi turned to away, "Kisame, come."

"Where do you think you're going!" Jiraiya yelled as he slammed his hands on the ground, causing the flesh on the walls to expand at a rapid place.

Dani on the other hand thought she was going to be sick. He made walls... Eww...

Both of the Akasuki members vanished from her sight as they turned into another hallway. Silence only lasted for a few milliseconds before an explosion rang across the hallway.

Jiraiya rushed towards the sound with Dani and Naruto close behind him. She was not expecting to see another hole in the wall, with black flames surrounding it. "They're gone!" Naruto exclaimed as he saw the disaster left behind.

The wall of flesh... torn by black flames... Jiraiya thought, as he gazed out towards the village from the hold in the wall.

On the outskirts of the town Itachi and Kisame ran through the fields at a blurring pace.

"Did we really have to retreat?" Kisame snarled in outrage. This was not part of the plan! He hated to retreat, it was a cowards move. Which begged the question of why he followed Itachi out. Kisame was certain he could annihilate everyone.

"Well, now we know for sure where Naruto is located, so there is no need to be hasty. Besides my body needs to rest," Itachi muttered as he felt exhaustion sweep through his body. "That, and we have an unknown for now."

"Yeah. Yeah. Your eyes is draining your energy. And your referring to the girl?"

"Do you know what she threw at me? It did considerable damage to your sword." Itachi asked after a few moments of silence.

Kisame growled at the thought, "I've never seen Samehada react that way. Do you think she'll be a problem."

"No. We continue as planned. Let's tell the leader of our discovery."

"Black fire?" Dani extended her hand to see if it gives off warmth like a normal fire, when a large hand wrapped around her wrist.

"I wouldn't do that, black is very dangerous," Jiraiya said as he let her wrist go. "Itachi. What on Earth did you use to draw out black flames. Err. It torched Iwagama's flesh. That's not something you see everyday." Jiraiya took out a scroll and placed it on the ground near the flames, "FUUKA HOUIN JUTSU!" He yelled as he made the hand seals.

Both Dani and Naruto gave a startled yelp as the flames were sucked into the scroll. Once done, Jiraiya sealed the scroll, "Alright. Is everyone okay?"

Dani was about to answer when Naruto bolted up at frightening speed, "Sasuke!"

Suddenly, the fleshy walls started to deteriorate and the boy soon became visible. Naruto bolted towards him and couldn't keep the pain off of his face, "Sasuke?" Naruto tentatively asked, hoping for a reaction.

'Thud.'

Dani flew up near the ceiling in fright, "What was that! Please not another freak-"

"DYNAMIC ENTRY!" A masculine voice bellowed.

A shadow fell upon Jiraiya and before anyone could react, he was sent flying.

Dani put a hand out to blast the attacker when Jiraiya yelled in outraged and in pain, "What the hell is your problem!?"

"Oops. Sorry, Jiraiya!" Gai actually managed to look sheepish as he noticed the bruise blooming on Jiraiya's cheek. "I was using my forehead protector as a mirror and I couldn't distinguish you-"

Dani burst in laughter and was soon followed by Naruto. Jiraiya threw a small glare in retaliation but was nonetheless relieved that the person who attacked him was Gai and not another Akatsuki member. "Well. Sasuke needs medical attention. He tried to take on Itachi alone from the looks of it. But what I can't gather is how he knew he was going to be here today-"

Dani tuned out the old man and instead hovered by Naruto and his friend, Sasuke. Noticing quickly how pale he was as well as the damage done to his body. Bruises all over his face, split lip, and a black eye. Which doesn't account for the multiple hits he took to the chest. He looks as if he were dead...

"Pervy sage. He's gonna be alright, right?" Naruto asked as Jiraiya kneeled by him.

"We'll have Gai take him back to the village. There he will get medical treatment. He'll be alright," Jiraiya said with a sober voice, gentle rubbing Naruto's back. What I'm more worried about is the mental damage he took.

Dani silently floated back as to not interrupt the tender moment. She never really had a best friend to bond with. Sure she had friends in high and low places, her closest bond would probably be her cousin Danny. They acted more like siblings at times then cousins, but she could still remember times when she would go visit him and find him injured. The sadness and anger that would go through her at not being able to prevent the pain her cousin suffered at the hands of other ghosts.

Dani was startled out of her mind when a stranger's voice sounded right next to her. "Hmm. That's not something I see everyday. Hello floating kid, I'm Gai Sensei from the Leaf Village."

"Oh. Um. Hi, dude that accidentally punched the old man in the face. I'm Dani Phantom with an 'i' at the end. I'm from Amity Park." Dani could mentally slap herself. Why did I say I was from Amity Park! He doesn't even know where that is!

"Amity Park? Never heard of it-" Oh. Oh. Crap.

Lucky Jiraiya intervened, "Hmm... a change of plan."

"Change of plan!? What do you mean a change of plans? I should be going after Sasuke's attackers! What they did was unforgivable!" Naruto yelled in outrage, his trembling body inches from Dani. "Pervy sage! You know we can't just let this slide!"

With feet planted on the floor, Dani crossed her arms over her chest, "You know that if you go after him, he will kill you."

Naruto was instantly on her, his furious face inches from her own, "Nobody asked you for your opinion. Besides that's my business-"

Jiraiya grabbed the back of Naruto's jumpsuit and tugged him backwards, "Naruto. You know she's right. They are on a whole different level that you can't match right now."

"SO WHAT-"

"Shut up for a moment!" Although Jiraiya didn't exactly yell, it had the same effect on Naruto who instantly went silent.

"You. Are. Weak.-"

Naruto's eyes instantly met with Jiraiya's in a mixture of hurt and rage, "No! I'm-"

"Yes. You are."

Naruto cast his eyes down to the floor, clenching his teeth tight as his insecurities resurfaced. It was... true. He couldn't even help himself when he was cornered earlier. Much less help his teammate and best friend. If it weren't for the white haired girl, he would have-

"Naruto. I'm not here to put you down. You are weak. For the moment-" This made Naruto's eyes look back up, "-but if you train hard enough and really put in real effort. Then you will become stronger but for today. You are weak. Recognize it and change it."

A few silent moments passed by before Jiraiya cleared his throat, "Listen Gai. I really would appreciate it if you took Sasuke back to the village as quick as possible."

"Of course. Kakashi was also put under the same Jutsu from the same guy as Sasuke. He will be put on bed rest until his senses return to normal and his body heals," Gai said with a small optimistic smile.

Naruto choked on a breath and instantly stammered, "What! Kakashi-Sensei! But when-"

Jiraiya hummed and placed a hand under his chin, "Yes. That was the change of plan. Now we look for her."

That person.. could it be... Gai thought as his eyes widened.

"She is one of the three, like me. The best in her field. She should be able to heal them. The only trouble is finding her and having her come back with us."

Once outside the town, Gai put Sasuke on his back and turned towards Jiraiya, "Best of luck. Tsunade-Sama will be hard to find."

Jiraiya's grin stretched from cheek to cheek, "Nah. I already got her scent. Just need to follow her tracks."

Above all of them was Dani. She had no idea why she followed the guys outside, but nonetheless was sad to see Gai and Naruto's injured friend leave. At the moment she had nothing to do or have a way to get back into the Ghost Zone. She was truly stuck unless a natural portal opened up. But the chances of that happening anytime soon is rare. Hopefully, Danny noticed that she wasn't going to make it to Amity Park any time soon and start looking. He'll find her. He always carries that sort of dumb luck that makes anything possible for him.

"Well Gai... We'll be leaving Sasuke in your care," Jiraiya said.

Gai nodded and then looked at Naruto and Dani, "You kids got guts! So I'm gonna give you this! It made Lee super strong and really motivated him to train even harder! So it should do the same to all of you!"

Naruto nodded enthusiastically. His body vibrating with excitement. Something to make me strong! "What is it!"

"THIS!" Gai pulled out a couple of green spandexs.

Dani's mouth dropped to the floor. "What is that?!"

Jiraiya and Naruto just stared Gai with blank faces.

"It's the ultimate steamed-line, form-fitting, easily-accessible, perfectly-made body suit! Wear it while training and you'll know the difference! You'll never look back at regular fitness clothes! Our Lee wears it 24/7 and of course it is my most beloved piece of ninja must have!" Gai yelled gleefully as he waved the spandex around.

Naruto opened his mouth when Jiraiya put his hand over it, "There's no need Gai. Besides Naruto wouldn't dare change his already horrible orange jumpsuit for the green one."

"Hey! Orange is the best!-"

Gai looked up with a hopeful expression on his face. "Dani?"

"Black is more my color and well... The green spandex really clashes with my eye color," Dani winced at the lie. She was never good at lying when put on the spot.

"We... that means more spares for me!"

A few minutes later Gai left after another good-bye wave and Jiraiya turned to Naruto, "You're not gonna wear that, understood?"

"You don't like orange or the green. What am I supposed to wear?" Naruto restoration, waving the green sandex that Gai gave him.

"Please don't. Just look at what you're holding in your hands," Jiraiya said, indicating with a grimace.

"Yeah. Its atrocious," Dani commented as she floated down.

I still need to deal with our other problem, here, Jiraiya thought as he looked at the floating child.
