It was Friday morning and Hanna was working at the clothing shop as usual. When she had her break, Aria came to her and they went to the coffee shop right in front of her store to have a coffee together.

"So... What about Caleb?" Aria asked casually as she took a sip from he cup.

Hanna sighed and shrugged slightly.

"Nothing. I haven't seen him or heard from him in like five days. He told me he was going to say goodbye before leaving, so I think he's still here, even though I know I shouldn't be so sure about that. That's all." she replied then.

"He's still here, Han."

"Maybe. Or maybe not."

"I met him at some pub last night. He's still here."

"What?" Hanna asked, widening her eyes.

"Yeah, I should have told you earlier."

"What do you mean with 'met' him? Did you talk to him? You didn't say 'saw' him but 'met' him!"

Aria took a deep breath and then replied.

"Okay, we talked a little. I was waiting for Ezra, and he was late as always, and then I saw Caleb all alone in a corner and I just thought—"

"That guy is a jerk. He treated me like shit. You're my bestfriend, I don't see what's your point here." Hanna snapped, interrupting her.

"I knew you were going to be mad... And he knew it too. But I just exchanged two words with him, I don't think I did anything wrong."

Hanna snorted and then scratched her forehead, slowly searching for Aria's eyes.

"What did he tell you?" she asked shyly.

Aria smiled slightly. Hanna was never going to admit it, but she still cared a lot about 'that guy'.

"That he's sorry about the way things went between the two of you and that he had tried to distract himself with girls, but that it hadn't work. So he was there alone with just a coke in his glass. He even offered me an orange juice. He was nice." she told her friend then.

Hanna nodded.

"Do you know when he's leaving?" she asked then.

"He said on Saturday, so I guess that's tomorrow." Aria breathed out.

"Right."

They remained silent for a few moments before Aria restarted talking.

"I saw him confused, Han. I'm not so sure he's gonna leave."

"You talked to him for a few minutes, Ar. I didn't know what the fuck is running through his mind and I think I know him way deeper than you, so no offence but your thought doesn't reassure me at all."

"Well, maybe you're right, but... I'm pretty sure he's gonna show up today. Whether he's leaving tomorrow or staying. So... Just try to tell him the things that you haven't told him already."

"What do you mean?"

Aria rolled her eyes.

"Your feelings for him, maybe?" she said then.

Hanna rolled her eyes as well.

"I need to go back to work. And, for the nth time, he should tell me something if he wants to, not the other way around. I can do nothing more to stop him from leaving. Fuck, if he wants to leave, well, then he can leave. I won't die." she muttered, standing up from the table.

Aria smiled. Hanna was acting exactly the way he told Caleb she was feeling. She knew her friend so well, that's why she also knew that she was in love with him.

"Right. But call me if anything happens today, okay?" she told her, standing up from the table as well.

"I will. Bye." Hanna concluded, offering a smile to her friend.

The apartment was officially sold. Caleb and Jess had taken their stuff from their former place and now they were currently staying in an hotel to spend the night before leaving the next morning.

Caleb was smoking on the balcony, as usual by now, while Jess was inside packing the last things for the next day.

"Is your stuff ready?" she yelled at him.

Caleb slightly opened the balcony window and gave her a small nod before going back outside. Jess sighed deeply. It was true that she didn't have a perfect relationship with her brother, but she knew him pretty well. Slowly, she made her way outside and stood next to him, without saying nothing.

"What?" Caleb snapped at her, without even bothering himself to turn to her.

"You're gonna yell at me because you don't want to listen to me about that and whatever, but I have to tell you. I'd love you to work with me in San Diego, I want you to, but... I don't see you fine with it at all. Mom and dad's dream is to see us working together for dad's company, that's always been their dream, yeah. And again, I would love to work with my brother by my side too. I like the job, I like the business things, always have and always will, that's why it's my job. But you never liked it. And I'm pretty sure you're not gonna like it now either. I know I've been the one to say that you need to grow up and come with me there, but... These last days, right before our departure, I watched you. And I haven't seen you so bad in a long time. I don't like the girl, okay, that's true too, but... It's your life, brother. And I shouldn't have made such a pressure on you. Caleb, you've always been the indipendent son. You didn't have such a serious and mature lifestyle, yeah, but you've always managed to make it on your own. And that's impressive. That already showed that it's not true that you still have to grow up like I said. So, now, if you feel like staying here for her, as long as you're gonna look for another job, and not coming with me... Well... Just do it. I'm just sorry that we've sold our apartment. I asked you plenty times if you were sure, and you told me you were. You signed for selling too. But now... Well... Just tell me what you want. I swear I'm not gonna be mad. And our parents will understand as well. Maybe it will take a little longer to them, but they're used to your wild personality, right? Who knows, maybe if the thing with Hanna actually becomes serious and you're gonna find a stability with her, they will finally see you as the most responsible son."

Caleb listened to her silent, slightly chuckling at her last words. Then, he finally opened his mouth to reply.

"I've thought a lot about this whole thing. Trust me, a lot. And I also talked with some people beside you. But now I feel like I have my decision. And that's mine. I was gonna tell you even if you wouldn't have told me those things... But now you made it easier."

Jess smiled at him and gave him a quizzical look.

"So?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Hanna guessed that Caleb was going to come over soon, and she was nervous as hell. She was still all dressed and with her make-up on even if it was half past seven in the evening, waiting for him on the couch. Part of herself was scared that he wasn't going to come, but the other knew he was. She didn't know why she still trusted him like that, but it was like that. And Aria's words that morning had like increased the little hope of him staying inside of her. So, yeah, she was nervous as hell.

When finally the doorbell rang ten minutes or so later, she felt like she had an heart-attack. Her knees were weak as she walked to the door, and when she asked who it was and Caleb's voice on the other side announced himself, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

The moment of the truth had come.

She opened the door and took sight of him. He had a simple green t-shirt with a black jacket and a pair of jeans and sneakers on. He was handsome, as always.

"Hi." he murmured, flashing her a small smile and then looking at his own feet.

He looked nervous and tense as well.

"Hi. Come in." Hanna replied, avoiding his gaze.

Caleb muttered a 'thanks' and stepped inside, as Hanna closed the door behind them. She gestured him to sit on the couch and then she joined him.

"Do you want a coffee or something, maybe?" she asked awkwardly.

Caleb shook his head and remained silent.

Silence.

That was the only thing that was filling the room. It was rather awkward.

Caleb was looking at the floor while nervously tapping his foot, while Hanna was staring at her own lap. But then, the girl broke down.

"Okay, so you're leaving and you came to say goodbye and you do it this way? I don't need your stupid presence in my house if you're gonna stay silent and still. I thought you wanted to tell me something, but I was wrong, obviously. So you know what? You can get the fuck off."

Caleb bit his lip and sighed, slowly lifting his gaze.

"I thought about what to say for, like, a week. And I had so much to say. So many things. And while I was driving here I repeated the whole perfect speech to myself. It even sounded pretty good. But... I just can't remember anything right now." he murmured.

Hanna rolled her eyes and sighed deeply.

"Aria told me you two saw each other last night." she said then, as if she was trying to make him say something.

"Um, yeah. Yeah, we had a little chat."

He still looked in difficult.

"Okay, Caleb, are you gonna say something or we will spend hours sitting this way like two idiots? If that's your plan, well, I repeat, you can leave." Hanna snapped.

Caleb shook his head and then quickly wrapped his arms around the girl next to him, hugging her tight to him. And as much as Hanna was hating the fact that he still had such a power on her, she leaned into his embrace. That was the last time that she would have seen him. And she wanted to enjoy his presence one last time. They remained that way for a good few minutes, neither of them saying anything. Then, Caleb lifted Hanna's chin with his index finger and looked straight into her eyes.

"I made a huge mistake." he whispered.

Hanna assumed he was referring to the whole situation, like his fight with Noel, the loss of his job and everything, so she stayed silent, but without thinking she gave him a quick kiss on the lips. She was never gonna see him again, so she wanted to do what she felt like doing, without thinking. Caleb smiled and leaned in, kissing her again, a little longer, a little harder. When he pulled away, it was Hanna who spoke.

"I think I'm gonna miss you, even if you're the biggest jerk I've ever met in my whole life."

"Why are you gonna miss me?" Caleb asked, still very close to her lips.

"I don't know, since you wouldn't deserve it. But I know I am."

Caleb took a deep breath, tightening his arm around her.

"Well, if you want... We could... Spend more time together." he said then.

"What? You're not leaving tomorrow?"

"No." Caleb shrugged.

"When then? Next week?"

Caleb licked his lips and then smiled a little.

"I'm not leaving."

Hanna widened her eyes at him.

"Are you serious?" she said then, almost in a whisper.

"I wouldn't joke about this. I don't wanna leave, so I'm not leaving. And I don't give a fuck if people will think that I'm an irresponsible or shit like that, I... I just want to stay here... With you. Who cares if I can't be sure that it will work? I want to find out if it will. And if it will, well... Then I'll be the happiest man of the world."

Hanna bit her lip and distangled herself from his arms, looking straight into his eyes.

"Caleb, if you're doing this because Aria told you something last night—" she started, but he cut her off.

"It's not about what Aria or Jess or you or anyone else told me. This is what I feel, what I want. This time I really feel like trusting myself so I want to take the risk."

Hanna had wanted to hear those words for days, and now that he was telling her, it almost didn't seem true to her. She couldn't believe it. She stayed silent for a few seconds, then Caleb restarted.

"Last night, after meeting Aria... I came here."

"And why I can't remember that?"

Caleb chuckled a little before replying.

"I stayed outside, in my car. I saw the lights on so I thought about knocking on the door, but eventually I didn't. I just... I wanted to see you and tell you something, but... When I finally took the courage to come to the door, you turned the lights off, so... I left."

Hanna smiled slightly, then Caleb continued.

"Hanna... If you want to give me one last chance, I know I won't screw it up. I have to find another job, and, well, another place to stay, but—"

"You sold the apartment for good?" Hanna interrupted him.

Caleb shrugged and bit his lip.

"Let's just say that I made up my mind a bit late. That's the huge mistake I was talking about before." he murmured.

Hanna shook her head and sighed deeply.

"What are you gonna do now?" she asked.

"I told you, I'm gonna look for another job and another apartment. In the meanwhile, I'll stay in an hotel, I have the money from the apartment so I can easily pay for a while. It's kind of foolish, huh? I have nothing right now, I only have you. Just a few hours ago the thought would have scared me to death, but now... I feel like it's the best I could have ever asked for."

"Oh my God, you're such an idiot."

"Yeah, I know." he chuckled.

Hanna took a deep breath.

"What did make you change your mind?" she whispered.

"I don't know. Maybe it was just... You. Day by day I realized what I was gonna do, and... And when I was right about doing it, right about leaving, I understood that it wasn't what I wanted. What I really want is you, Hanna."

And with that, Caleb leaned in and kissed her, but she immediately pulled away and slapped him hard on the face. Caleb felt caught off guard, and immediately put his hand on his own cheek.

"What the fuck? What was that for?" he asked.

"If I kissed you before it was just because I thought I was never gonna see you again. But now things are changed, so... If you want this one last chance, well, just gain it. I need to be able to trust you, Caleb. I appreciate what you told me and everything, and I'm not hiding that the fact that you're not leaving makes me beyond happy, but... I think that taking some time will be good. For both of us. Since the way we started things, so quick and so... Well, you know... If we're going to retry, I think it'd be better if we will be a little... Calmer. Just so, you know... Be sure. Caleb, I really care about you and about us, that's why I'm asking you this."

Caleb gave her a soft smile and then nodded slowly.

"You're right. I agree with you, and I promise that I won't disappoint you. Even if..." he started.

"Even if what?" Hanna snapped, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Maybe I just should have waited tomorrow morning to tell you that I wasn't leaving." he said cockily, smiling deviously.

"Do you want another slap?"

Caleb laughed and shook his head.

"Good." Hanna nodded, not hiding a little smile as well.

Then, Caleb pulled her into a tight hug.

"Thank you." he whispered into her ear.

"You'll be okay tonight? Do you have an hotel room already?"

"Yeah, it's okay. Don't worry."

Then, Hanna pulled away and smiled up at him, as he gently kissed her forehead.

"I'll see you tomorrow, is that okay? Do you have to work?" he asked them.

"No, tomorrow is Saturday, so... I'm free."

"Can I take you out for breakfast?"

"I think I can do it."

Caleb smiled and stood up.

"Fine. I'll come over here at nine 'o clock. I'll see you then." he said.

"Okay. Goodnight." Hanna replied, standing up as well.

"Night."

Caleb flashed her another smile and then exited her house, keeping that smile on his face. And Hanna had a huge smile plastered on her face as as well, as she looked for her mobile to call Aria.

That guy wasn't a jerk, after all.
