Chapter Seventeen
The Darlings Home
Roger stood at the window of the nursery, his eyes staring out over the roof tops but not really fixing on anything particular. His heart was heavy and the more time that passed the more he could not help but think that something bad had, happened to his children. There was no way around it, it was his fault.
There was this voice at the back of his mind that kept telling him he had to carry on believing, he knew where his children were and that they would be returned to him soon.
Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, the wind gently caressed his cheek as a voice said;
"I do believe in Peter Pan"
"Samantha?" Rogers eyes fly open, as he glances around the window.
"I do believe in Peter Pan."
"Samantha, where are you? Can you hear me?" Roger shouts.
"I do believe in Peter Pan."
Roger couldn't understand why all he could hear was his daughter voices, saying the same thing over and over.
"What do you want me to do?" Roger calls out into the wind. "Just tell me what you want! What can I do?"
"I do believe in Peter Pan" Samantha's voice was becoming stronger.
"Yes! I do believe in Peter Pan! I do!" Roger shouts across the dark roof tops of London. "I do believe in Peter Pan."
UPON THE JOLLY ROGER
"How do you think chanting will save your dear Peter?" Hook laughs. "Nothing will save your Peter Pan. I have made sure this time!" Hook sounded proud of himself.
"Peter will survive" Christopher shouted as he stepped forward. "I just know he will, he will always beat you!"
Without a second thought Hook raised his hand and used the back of it to hit into Christopher's face. The slap was forceful enough to send Christopher crashing to the deck of the Jolly Roger, on his cheek a red mark started to appear.
"Peter will not come to the rescue." Captain Hook said through gritted teeth as he then proceeded to turn on his heels and head into his cabin.
In all honesty our dearly hated Captain was actually shaking and he was feeling slightly sick. In all his years of being a Captain, he had sent people to walk the plank and used his sword to damage and kill people. The one thing he had never done in his life was raise his hand (his only hand) to a child.
There was something in the back of his mind that made him feel horrible and for some reason he felt that he had broken a promise but he couldn't remember exactly what that promise was.
Sitting in his large arm chair, Hook tried to clear his mind and think about the future of Neverland without Peter Pan. A thin smile formed on his face.
Outside Hangman's Tree
"Samantha" Tinks voice was quite as she stood gently on the young girls shoulder. "I don't think it is going to work."
Samantha's head was resting on Peters still chest and through the sobs she could be heard saying
"I do believe in Peter Pan, I do believe in Peter Pan."
"Samantha." Tink tried again. "Oh no!" Her voice was shocked as her eyes became wider. "Samantha, you have to look."
"What!" Samantha shouted as she raised her head. "Oh, It can't be!"
Starting in the North, Neverland was going black, the sun was slowly but surely fading and it seemed like night was coming.
The darkness quickly spread out across Neverland, there was sounds of panic from the whole of neverland.
"Tink, Please don't say that Neverland is dying? Because Peter is dying." Samantha's voice is quiet. From the ball of light came a sad tinkle of bells. Samantha returned her gaze back to the still Peter Pan, tears started falling quickly down Samantha's cheeks, and she was finding it hard to catch her breath. Samantha could not think straight.
"Samantha." Tinkerbell's small voice said carefully. "Samantha, you need to look at me." Samantha reluctantly raises her head, and looks into the face of Tinkerbell. "You need to get to Robert and Christopher, they need your help."
"Oh no!" Samantha's eyes become wide and she can't help but feel panicked. She can't lose Christopher and Robert as well.
Taking a deep breath Samantha wiped her eyes and said,
"Listen close Tinkerbell, I think I have an idea."
