A mini-series of [reader-insert] drabbles/ficlets of the Naruto babies being shown various Halloween traditions. Part 9. For ShadowVixxen's All Hallows Eve contest.

A brown-haired boy chuckles to himself as he pulls on his mask. He pulls a sweater and shorts onto his puppy along with a mask and earmuffs. Certainly his hard work will all too soon be rewarded. His costume is simple: a wolf mask and a tail. But he put quite a bit of work into Akamaru's costume. He used the clothing, mask, and earmuffs to make it look like the puppy is just a boy dressed like a dog.

"Alright, Akamaru! Operation: Double Trouble is on! Remember to come back when you get full to hide our loot!"

Akamaru arfs his approval and scampers off in one direction while Kiba starts at the other end of the block. The puppy starts crawling so he isn't called out as a dog. They each cover the block, dump the loot, and hit up the next street. By the time trick or treat hours are over, the two have overfilled their wagon loot stash plus returned with full baskets.

"We did great this year, Akamaru!" Kiba gives a barking laugh, and the white puppy answers with a happy bark and tail wag. But as they return to their loot stash, they freeze, as a strawberry-blonde with bright blue eyes is looking over the massive amounts of candy.

"Looks like you boys had a great haul tonight," she comments casually, plucking a strawberry candy from the pile.

"Oh, um… hi there, Ari…" Kiba chuckles nervously. Akamaru happily drops his basket and bounces into her lap.

"So… you both went trick-or-treat-ing?" She glances over at the boy and receives a nod. "Interesting. I never would have thought of that. You more than doubled your load. But what does Akamaru get out of it? He doesn't eat candy."

"I, uh… I told Akamaru he'd get dog treats as his share…."

"Ahuh…" Arianna studies him again. "You do realize I'm not going to let you take all of this home, right?"

"Aw, but Ari…"

"Now don't you 'but Ari' me," Arianna scolds him lightly. "You know very well that you'll eat yourself sick and silly."

"But that's not fair! It's my candy! Akamaru and I earned it fair and square… mostly!"

"Do you really want to end up at the vet again like you did last year?"

"… No…" He grumbles a little then whimpers, eyes getting wide and round. "Then… what are you going to do with it all?"

"Stop with the puppy eyes. I'm immune, remember?" Arianna gives him a half smirk as he immediately drops the look. "I'll tell you what I'll do. You can take home one bucket of candy and one bucket of dog treats. The rest of the candy you'll help move to my house. I'll hide it, and you can have a baggie of candy and a baggy of treats each week. That way it lasts for a long time, okay?"

Kiba's eyes widen. "You mean I still get to eat it all?"

"Most of it, yes," Arianna grins. "Just not all at once."

Kiba's signature canine grin returns as he realizes he'll be stocked with candy much longer this way.

"Hey, Ari?" He lifts his basket again to carry.

"Hai, Kiba?"

"Where are all the dog treats going to come from?"

"I'll take care of it, Kiba," she grins, "as long as I can have the strawberry candies and you don't do anything that makes me have to tell your mom."

Kiba shudders at the thought. "She'd just confiscate it and eat it all herself."

Arianna laughs. "Hai, she has about as much self-control as you, pup!"

"Yeah, well," Kiba bites into a small chocolate bar. "What can I say? I take after my mother."
