Just like last night, Marceline didn't open the car door for Bonnie. She felt that there was something different about Marceline, and it was getting to her. She didn't understand why Marceline would want to hang out with her.
"So you just want to hang out?"
"Well, yeah. Is that a problem?"
"No, no problem."
"Good."
"Where are we going?"
"I don't know."
"So you don't have any plans at all?"
"Hey, I just like to make it up as I go. I only decided to drop by your house when I was nearly at school."
"Are all your decisions impulsive ones?"
"I suppose so."
"And those impulsive decisions have left us with nothing to do, great. We might as well just go to school."
"Oh come on, don't be like that."
Bonnie felt unnecessarily frustrated at Marceline for no particular reason at all.
"Is that a carnival?"
"A carnival?"
"There seems to be a lot of people there considering it's a school day. Want to check it out?"
"Uh, yeah sure."
Marceline insisted on paying for both of their entry fees for the carnival, they walked side by side looking at all the different side stands but as they got closer to the rides Bonnie almost lost her. Marceline ran around trying to decide what ride would be the scariest.
"I think this one would be awesome!"
Marceline pointed to a ride called the zipper, there were multiple individual cages that span as they hung off of the middle part of the ride that span around as well. As Bonnie looked at the ride she looked mortified.
"You're kidding me!"
"Come on, it will be fun!"
"I think I'll sit this one out."
Marceline gave Bonnie a cheeky smile before picking her up and dragging her over to the ticket box. Bonnie struggled but Marceline's grip was tight.
"Marceline!"
"Two please."
Marceline managed to get her wallet out of her back pocket while still holding tightly onto Bonnie paying the ticket box lady and taking the tickets. She then carried Bonnie over to the line and put her down.
"I am not going on that ride so I guess you're going on twice."
As Bonnie went to walk away Marceline grabbed her hand.
"Oh come on, just this one ride and then we can do whatever you want, I promise."
Bonnie rolled her eyes and took a deep breath.
"Fine, but if we die I'm going to kill you."
After the zipper despite her promise Marceline then dragged Bonnie on every single ride at the carnival, even the teacups. By the time they got through them all they were both tired and hungry.
"Want to get something to eat?"
"Sure."
Before they could get to the food stands Marceline stopped them at a game stand.
"Hey want to play?"
"Sure, how much?"
"All good, I got it."
Bonnie felt bad when Marceline paid for her, it confused her. Marceline stopped opening the car door for her but now she insisted on paying for everything, Bonnie didn't know what to think.
They picked up the water pistols from the stand and pointed it at their assigned targets. As the buzzer went off Bonnie tried to keep steady but she couldn't help but peak at how full Marceline's balloon was already. In no time Marceline's balloon burst while Bonnie's was barely half way full.
"How are you so good at that?"
Marceline collected her prize then handed it to Bonnie. It was a huge fluffy teddy bear holding a love heart.
"Well it's not like it's hard."
Bonnie looked down at the teddy bear then tried to hand it back to Marceline.
"No it's your prize."
"But I picked it out for you."
"Why?"
"You can't take a girl to a carnival and not win her a teddy bear, what kind of girl do you think I am?"
"Does this mean I have to win you a teddy bear too?"
"No, that's okay. But a kiss would suffice."
Marceline winked at Bonnie as they continued to walk to the food stands.
"I don't think friends are meant to kiss Marceline."
"But we're friends and we've kissed a bunch of times."
Bonnie could feel her cheeks warm up as she began to blush.
"You never give up, do you?"
"Well it was worth a try wasn't it?"
Bonnie tried to ignore Marceline's last comment as they ordered their food. They decided to sit on the ground under a tree.
"3 pm already? Woah, I'm sorry but I have to head off soon."
"It's okay, I have to go to LSP's house anyway to get ready for her party."
"So you're definitely going to that?"
"Yeah, she's forcing me. Are you going to be there?"
"Yeah, maybe."
"Well...uhh..."
"What?"
"Well, you're welcome to hang out with me if you want to?"
"Awh I'm sorry, someone has already asked me to go with them."
"Oh really, who?"
"You probably don't know her, she's from a different school."
"Ahh I see. Is, uh...is it a date?"
"I guess you could say that."
Bonnie felt a tightness in her stomach, she didn't know what this feeling was. Embarrassment? Jealousy? Sadness? Or maybe all three mixed together. She didn't know what was wrong with her, she spent so long trying to make Marceline leave her alone, she was straight, she didn't like Marceline, or so she tried to convince herself. Not wanting Marceline to see her cry she shot up and started to run away, she wasn't sure where she was going but even though she heard Marceline yelling out to her she didn't stop to turn around once.
When Bonnie thought she was far away enough she called LSP to pick her up as she was already invited over to get ready with the girls before the party. She didn't really feel like partying but she thought it would be a good distraction.
As soon as she entered the house she was pulled into a chair and they had been doing her hair and makeup for what felt like forever. With no mirror in sight, Bonnibel was clueless as to what the end result would be.
"Are you done yet?"
"There's something missing!"
"Oh my glob, you're totally right Wendy!"
"What could it be?"
"I'm sure it's fine."
Bonnie attempted to get up but she was pushed back down by LSP.
"You're not going anywhere!"
"Ugh."
"Maybe she needs something in her hair?"
"You're like, totally right! I was just about to suggest that so that obviously means it was my idea too."
"Whatever you say LSP."
They tried multiple headbands, bows and clips in Bonnie's hair but only one thing seemed to work, LSP's small gold tiara that fit perfectly on her head.
"That's it! You look beautiful Bonnie."
"I'm sure I would look the same without a tiara."
"No, really Bonnie. It just completes the look."
"Bonnie, I thought you were like totally girly like us!"
"I am girly, I guess."
"Then you should totally love this!"
LSP put her hands over Bonnie's eyes, guiding her until they reached the mirror. Bonnie braced herself as LSP lifted her hands off from over her eyes.
"Don't you just totally love it!"
Bonnie stared into the mirror looking at everything they had done to her. Curly big hair, black eyeliner, red cheeks and lips. She hardly recognised herself and she hated to admit it but she did love it.
"Well Bonnie, some recognition would be nice."
Bonnie turned around to face them with a slight smirk on her face as she tried not to smile.
"So do you love it?"
"I do, thank you guys."
"You're totally one of us now! Oh my glob. We need to drink to this."
LSP excitingly began to hand out a type of premixed drink in a can that Bonnie had never heard of. Everyone started to quickly open their cans and start drinking, everyone except Bonnie.
"Hey, uh…I don't drink."
They all looked at her dumbfounded.
"But it's fine, right? I'll still have fun."
"You won't have fun being sober in a house full of drunk teenagers!"
"Bonnie, I'm sorry but you have to drink."
"But I've never done it before!"
"It's easy, just drink until you feel good."
"But I already feel good."
"It's a different kind of good, It will make all your troubles go away!"
"All my troubles go away, huh?"
Bonnie liked the sound of that.
"I didn't bring any alcohol though."
"It's okay Bonnie, I've got you covered."
Bonnie hesitated looking down at the can in her hand, everyone watched her as she opened it and took her first sip.
In no time at all the house began to flood with drunk teenagers and with LSP feeding Bonnie alcohol it didn't take her long to get drunk. Bonnie and LSP danced together in the living room where she had loud music and flashing lights set up. Bonnie had never danced before and she never intended to, she couldn't believe how alcohol would affect her behaviour. To be heard over the music Bonnie had to yell louder than she had ever yelled before.
"LSP!"
"WHAT?"
"I NEED TO GO TO THE TOILET!"
"WHAT?"
And just as the music stopped to change songs…
"I HAVE TO PEE!"
As Bonnie looked around at everyone staring at her there was a moment of silence but that was quickly forgotten with a wave of laughter filling the room. Bonnie didn't feel embarrassed, she laughed too as she stumbled through the crowd to try and find the toilet. She fell over as she left the crowd entering the hallway and instead of getting up she decided to lay there faced down, she didn't know why but in her drunk state it felt like the right thing to do.
"Bonnie?"
Bonnie turned around slightly looking up at the very person she wanted to avoid.
"Hey are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Bonnie turned herself back to face the ground but as she did so she felt Marceline's arms wrap around her and pull her up.
"Marceline, don't!"
Bonnie felt her head spin as she was standing on her feet.
"I've got you, okay. Let's find somewhere quiet for you to sit down."
"Why would I want to go anywhere with you?"
"Because I'm trying to help."
Marceline turned Bonnie to her side leaning down and putting her arm under Bonnie's legs lifting her up. She then carried her down the hall into a room labelled "no entry." It was the kitchen, and luckily for them people had listened to the sign. Marceline carried Bonnie over to one of the stools by the kitchen counter.
"Can you get LSP for me? I need LSP."
"And why do you need LSP?"
"Because I don't want to be here with you."
"Don't act childish Bonnie, it's not a good look on you."
"Wont your date be missing you?"
"I didn't end up coming with her."
Marceline went through the fridge until she found a bottle of water to give to Bonnie.
"Here, drink this."
Bonnie took the water and struggled to open it, Marceline sat on the chair next to Bonnie's.
"The tiara is cute, you look different though."
"The tiara is stupid."
"Well every princess needs a tiara."
"Don't call me that. Please just go."
"You're going to have to do better than that to get rid of me."
"Marceline, you are a horrible person."
"Am I?"
"You're like, evil."
"Evil? I haven't heard that one before."
"You kissed me, even though I told you that I was straight. What kind of person does that?"
"An evil one I hear."
"You've just got so deeply in my head, I can never stop thinking about you. I even dreamed about you!"
"That's just my evil plan unravelling, you see."
"Why can't you be serious for once?"
"Serious about what? A drunk girl insulting me."
"You deserve it. You deserve to be insulted. You can't just do this to people."
"Mmm."
"You could have any girl you want. Anyone. Why me? Why did you have to do this to me?"
"Fine, because I like you. Happy?"
"I hate you."
"I'm so glad to be looking after you princess."
"Don't call me princess."
Bonnie couldn't hold back her tears any longer, as she began to cry Marceline put her arm around her.
"Hey, don't cry."
Bonnie shrugged Marceline off and held her face in her hands while she mumbled.
"I hate you, because I think I'm in love with you."
